Overall, a quaint, cute, and cozy place. The staff were friendly, and the place was very busy. The food was okay, but not what we expected. The fries were good, but the schnitzel itself was bland, dripping with grease, and mushy, too soft, and not at all crispy. We'd give it 3.5 stars. The prices are relatively good. But we wouldn't go again.
I would prefer not to give a star at all. It's February 2nd and it says on the internet that it's open. You drive there pointlessly, in the end it's closed. 🙌👍
5/5 points across the board.
Since I would not have expected such a perfectly functioning restaurant in Halle, I have to admit after several visits: The Alchemistenklause is the best restaurant in Halle in all assessable areas.
Not only because it is actually still a restaurant, but also because you are guided through the evening by expert (the most important) staff who are extremely friendly and yet human. The food was top class, no matter which of the last 36 courses during the last visits, everything was perfect. I would particularly like to highlight the way the various seasonal vegetables are prepared. On each recent visit I was surprised by something different on my plate. The selection of drinks can be described as unique in Halle. You are an asset to this city. I hope you'll be around for a long time and look forward to further visits to the "House of the Old Masters".
Important: price/performance more than reasonable.
I'm appalled at what has become of this good German restaurant. Nothing freshly prepared, tasteless, reheated convenience food. A roast pork that looked as white as a dead hamster. It came with unseasoned fried potatoes, some of which were far from cooked. The other dish was advertised as a vegan pancake with a herb filling. The pancake mixture itself was indefinable and tasted of nothing. The filling consisted of raw spinach with a good amount of greens and twigs. It was more likely intended for the llamas from the farm across the street. All in all, a culinary experience below GDR Mitropa level. Including drinks, the star-rated experience cost 50 takken. I will definitely warmly recommend the Goldener Stern Memmendorf to my numerous personal enemies and all other people I can't stand. And always remember: the last one to leave turns out the lights!
Good restaurant. The fish platter was perfect, the schnitzel was delicious, and the fries and fried potatoes were excellent. Fast, very friendly service. However, it's not peak season, so the speed of service is, of course, only a snapshot. One minor criticism is the high drink prices. All in all, a highly recommended restaurant.
After our initial encounter during the culinary scavenger hunt, we finally went to Knillmann for our regular dinner.
The quality of the food was good; it was very tasty. We were served promptly, but we didn't like the fact that we were recommended something extra with every order: an extra bottle of water, a side salad, or a dessert. That was quite intrusive.
Some good gluten-free dishes can be found directly on the menu. The staff is very courteous and knowledgeable and will ask for details.
Children's meals were not on the menu. But we were told right at the beginning which ones were available. The Wiener-style schnitzel with fries was also gluten-free.
Very tasty, friendly service and a nice sunny spot outside. We will definitely come again.
Food and service was incredible. We come from the US and wanted some traditional German food. The potato with cream & Doner was one of the best foods I e had in a long time. The schnitzel was also very good. The staff treated you like a local and made it an even better experience. Would definitely make this place a regular stop.
From Zingst we took a trip to Bergen. As the capital of Rügen, we found the city super boring, nothing going on here. 😭
But we found this restaurant, the reviews were promising, so let's go.
Nice atmosphere and nice, friendly service. Great menu!
My wife and I chose the “Bacon Burger”. A very good decision, the burger was delicious, the meat was divine. 😍👍
