Our first visit was soo great, food - waiter great....So we decided to go a second night. Unfortunately, the 2nd evening's waiter did not do so well. We waited for quite some time before we were asked about drinks; we moved from one table to another and the waiter didn't even acknowledge.....food took over an hour. When we asked about it, the waiter's reply...."its coming"... 5 minutes later he incorrectly confirmed, and 3 minutes later our food was delivered. No apology, and no acknowledgement thereafter. Had to go to the register to pay.....the waiter was again missing in action!

We're usually wary of places near subway stations, but based on the reviews, we decided to give it a try. It was a wonderful surprise. One of the best meals we had in Munich. We recommend it!

Due to its location right next to the train station, this restaurant seems to be frequented by many rail travelers who don't know where to put their luggage when all the luggage compartments in the station are full. That's what happened to us, too. When we apologized for our large suitcases, the waiter responded kindly: "Come in, you're not the first." (I'll spare the kind reader the trouble of typing out the Bavarian dialect here...) We ordered schnitzel and roast pork in dark beer sauce. Special requests were accepted with a "of course," and the food was truly fantastic. We haven't had such a good roast pork in a long time. It was topped with a piece of perfect crust, which was almost worth it in itself. :) Then we asked if we could stay a little longer, as the connecting train was late – which was no problem at all for the friendly staff. We felt completely at home in an inn with plenty of charm and a heart for stressed-out train travelers.

I'm giving it 1 star because you can't give 0. We paid €45 for dinner, a set menu during Oktoberfest. The food was tiny sausages with obviously freeze-dried mashed potatoes and a few sauerkraut, plus a tiny slice of strudel. But that was nothing compared to the rudeness of the waiters, who often responded rudely to our requests. If we hadn't paid in advance, we would have left. It was our only dinner in Munich, and it's truly a shame to have wasted it here. Avoid it.

Help! It was a totally forgettable experience. I'll start by saying I went there on an organized trip, but right away, the atmosphere didn't seem the best. The temperature inside was significantly higher than outside, and the temperature difference was noticeable. A waitress who greeted us was immediately confused, despite our reservation. I also understand the demanding work they do, but as soon as I asked politely, the waiters snapped and almost threw our plates at us when they brought them. Now for the worst part: the food. The single dish consisted of five mini sausages, a freeze-dried mashed potato, a handful of sauerkraut, and four slices of bread (I've attached a photo of the dish). For €45, we expected something more substantial, or at least tastier. Dessert, however, was good. Furthermore, since we didn't want to drink beer, we asked for a soft drink (obviously paying separately), but this wasn't possible for reasons unknown to me. I strongly advise against this place.

Can’t leave 0/5 because of google map . Worst experience as a foreigner at Oktoberfest 2025 . I payed 45 € for a dinner just to get 3 (super small) sausages, some “pure’” (in Italian) and cipolla . Then 1 L of beer and a stupid sliced of strudel . Asked for a coffee, said it was laid apart (after 45 € pay wall) . Serviced cleaned while I was sitting at the restaurant. As an Italian it was really a bad experience. Hope they close soon but just because they treat bad their costumes.

A huge disappointment: the food was terrible and the service was truly awful! Rude!

Great food, the portions are generous. We ordered two for three people plus a side of fries. I think you could even share a dish for two if you order appetizers or desserts. The spatzel with pork and mushrooms was delicious, as was the pork shoulder with bacon and egg. The fries were also perfectly cooked. The staff is friendly, and we were able to split the bill when it came time to pay.

Beer is good! Get the pork suckling dish. Do not get the knuckle... It's disappointing (Koln does it better 😆)

We visited the Rechthaler Hof with friends and had a fantastic afternoon! We were thrilled by the combination of traditional Bavarian cuisine, a rustic ambiance, and warm service. Our highlights: Food: From pork knuckle to Leberkäse (liver sausage) with fried egg – everything was top-notch! Served fresh, hot, and truly delicious. Service: Despite a full house, the staff was attentive and friendly. Drinks arrived quickly, and special requests were easily accommodated. Atmosphere: Cozy, authentic, and not too touristy – exactly what you'd expect from a Munich tavern. Location: Right next to the main train station, easily accessible – ideal for groups coming from different directions. We laughed a lot, ate well, and felt completely at home. A place we will definitely visit again – perhaps at our next regulars' table! 🍽️🍺

Maybe it was a fluke, but our entire family got sick after eating here. We lost about 2 days of our vacation, just puking in our hotel.

Arogant manager. 9 people waited long time outside for seats. A lot of space. After that we go to inside because nobody dont take care about our sitting. We were kicked out, because “reservation”. Personál did not know about reservation for this big table, but told us: hey, the man who told you about reservation is manager and we are not able work with it. I understand that we should wait for finding of tabel from personál. But manager saw us long time before and was realy not friendly to people

Was best schnitzel I think I have ever had. The sausage plate was also amazing with many great flavors. Beer was great and all around atmosphere is exactly what we wanted for a Bavarian meal. Do not hesitate to stop off for a drink and meal.

When we have visitors, we offer a welcome wheat beer. They also have a good lunch menu at fair prices, all right by the main train station!

Fantastic experience. Immersed in history the moment you step in and the staff were welcoming (and funny)! You just have to be cognisant that they're busy people so you should be nice FIRST. Was most impressed with the variety of Bavarian dishes that were not sausages and pork knuckle. Will definitely return!

We were here with a large group of 40 people. We had made a reservation by phone. Despite this, the wait times, especially for drinks, were nonexistent. The service was prompt and friendly. But the food was on a whole other level. I've had a lot of Bavarian cuisine, but what's offered here sets a new standard. The Zwiebelrostbraten (onion roast beef) in particular was overwhelmingly good. Everyone was more than satisfied with the food. From now on, this is a must-visit on every trip to Munich.

The restaurant has a beautiful, traditional decoration that creates a nice atmosphere. The food was good, without being particularly exciting, but certainly satisfying. The service was very good, with polite and attentive staff. Overall a positive experience.

It's close to the train station, very touristy, and the prices are accordingly high. The portions, however, were relatively large, or rather, simply substantial. It was very crowded and hectic; the waitress seemed very stressed and spilled half our drink on the way to us because she was walking so fast. She was also a bit rude. When they ran out of bread dumplings, she quickly urged me to just get the potato dumplings. When I didn't immediately say yes and preferred to look at the menu again, she seemed very annoyed. Unfortunately, we won't be eating there again due to the poor service!

Visited this place twice. Food was very good. Portion sizes are generous. Menu has plenty to choose from First time I visited, I had the roasted pork with beer sauce. It was delicious. Second time I visited I had the roasted suckling pig and baked apple rings. Both were very good Staff are not rude but not very attentive. It will take 15-20 minutes before they give you menus or take your order However, the second time we went, the waiter asked for a 10% tip. He was very offended when I refused and even claimed that he worked for tips. I asked many people and a lot of Germans have confirmed that this is not normal and very rude in german culture. I won't be returning

Quaint, long-established restaurant near the main train station 🚉🍺. Very friendly staff – not as touristy as many other restaurants in Munich 👌. The menu is varied but not overly extensive. We had schnitzel with fried potatoes 🥔 – super delicious and fitting for the cozy atmosphere. Prices are fair 💶 and not excessive. Reservations are recommended 📅, although we were lucky without one. After a long and hot day in Munich, I had a fantastic roast pork and a dark Ayinger beer here. Fast and friendly service, perfect.

We had dinner here on our last evening in Munich; it was close to the hotel. It's located near the train station. The interior is very beautiful and quaint. It's a typical beer hall with frescoed walls. The service was friendly, in a very crowded place. The beer was good, as in all the beer halls we tried. We had goulash soup, a Schnitzler with berries, and roast pork in beer sauce with sauerkraut and their signature dumplings, which look like spongy potatoes. Everything was good, about average for the places we've eaten. The goulash and roast could have been served a little warmer, but they certainly weren't cold. We were satisfied; definitely worth a try.

Honestly, I've found better in Munich. The goulash is nothing like the original. It's not bad, though. The schnitzel should have had mustard, but there wasn't a trace of it. The sausages were good, but nothing special.

The portions are generous, so sharing is recommended for those with small stomachs. I ordered the roast beef with fried onions and cheese gnocchi, which was delicious! 😋 While there's plenty of seating, reservations are usually required for dinner, but lunch is always available. My friends ordered the roast pork knuckle, which they rated as better than the Royal Restaurant in the Old Town.

Even though it's a traveler's menu, I can say that the knuckle alone deserves a good rating. I've taken off a star because the starters were very weak and the water they served in a jug was lukewarm. Decent service and a very nice and functional establishment. I have no opinion on the price, as it's a fixed menu.

This is not gonna be a 5 stars, I was so determined but yet, I yield to pressure and the fantastic bavarian roast pork! It may not seem that way as I couldn't even finish half of the portion, but thats because it was gigantic, at least for a typical Asian guy like myself. If I can be really honest... I have never really liked any German food, incl the sausages or the pork knuckles.. I mean they are ok, but not fantastic to me, until I tried this... One of the softest pork (meat portion) I had and more importantly, the crispiest and most tasty pork skin I can imagine. I am a fan of crispy pork skin and this is even better than Crispy Joe in Bangkok where it's a 5 stars for me! But why my reluctance initially, was because of the staff (the skinny guy) who either hated foreigners or I was thinking maybe just socially awkward? I have no idea... But he was so bad at the start and grew to become better and like Elsa told me, I had to "Let it go". We all knew their beers were good but I never knew German food can be this good as well. So well done to them!

The quality of food were good, but some of staff were rude and lazy. And price was not budget friendly.

It was a nice place with awesome vibes. Waiter was friendly as well. We arrived around 8pm and a few thing on the menu weren’t available which was a bummer. The food we ordered however was quite filling and tasty.

This German food establishment was alright. We were greeted with pleasant service and decent food. Upon leaving you will be asked about your tip, but I understand where this is coming from. The atmosphere was nice, but it was quite hot. I have a strange hunch that this place is unsanitary but I can’t prove anything but someone oughtta check out that kitchen. In general a solid place for traditional Bavarian food.

Visited here while in Munich during a holiday. Fantastic decor so great for immersion in the German culture and cuisine. The food was also great with a great selection of German dishes. We tried their pork schnitzel, pork shoulder, and sausage platter. Only thing to say food wise was that the pork shoulder was perhaps not as crunchy as it could be and was chewy at parts. Also found the service to be very abrupt and blunt. Great for efficiency - but at times quite impatient and pushy. Would recommend though if visiting Munich for the nice ambience and good food.

Typical Bavarian cuisine. We had roast pork and knuckle of pork. Both were incredibly delicious. The dark sauce that accompanied them was simply fantastic! The server was also very attentive and cheerful. The value for money was absolutely spot on! A rustic atmosphere!

The Rechthaler Hof is rather unassuming from the outside, but turns out to be a traditional Bavarian inn. The welcome and seating were very friendly, the food and drink selection is very diverse, and when the place is full, the ambiance quickly takes on a Hofbräuhaus vibe, which isn't exactly our style. Our food was freshly prepared and very plentiful, and the value for money is more than reasonable for a restaurant close to the city center. Our server, Danny, contributed to a pleasant, successful evening. All in all, a thumbs up.

Our visit was completely spontaneous without a reservation, but we were lucky and got a free table. The service was very friendly and attentive. The beer is incredibly delicious, freshly tapped, and brought to our table very quickly. The food came just as quickly, even though the restaurant was packed. Today was my first time at the Rechthaler Hof. But definitely not the last! I made a spontaneous reservation. The restaurant was very busy. We had the Wiener Schnitzel with fries. Both were very good. The fries were really crispy. Walied was our server. He was incredibly friendly, very service-oriented, truly perfect. He was the icing on the cake for the evening.

I came here for dinner at the end of June. One waiter said we could sit anywhere, but the other waiter said there was only one person sitting in a two-person seat. I was a little confused. I ordered German pork knuckle but they got pork ribs. At least the food was good.

What a disappointment. The waiter literally begged for a tip, asking, “How much do you want to pay?” and when I hesitated, he had the nerve to say, “Yeah, but I work for this.” Oh, really? Newsflash: doing the absolute bare minimum of your job doesn’t magically earn you extra cash. He didn’t even serve the food – another waitress did. All he did was write down the order and hand me the bill. Should I also tip him for breathing near my table? Or for walking to work that day? And don’t get me started on the €7.50 for 0.75L of water – at that price, I’d expect it to be holy water blessed by the Pope. Shameless service, ridiculous pricing, and zero respect for customers. Save your money and eat literally anywhere else.

It's hard to believe that you can find such a great restaurant near the train station. The previous 4.6 stars have proven to be true: the food and service, as well as the ambiance, were fantastic! The food was excellent but If you are going, I would recommend a reservation. They didn't seem pleased that we walked up. It took a long time to get the server to take our order. overall, we did not feel welcome.

Very expensive for a Bavarian restaurant: 0.75L water costs €7.50, a liter of beer costs €10.40, and the pork knuckle was dry and expensive. Three of us were there for the first time and probably the last time we'd eat there.

Very busy, so be sure to make a reservation! Several people were turned away because all the tables were occupied/reserved. Service was very good! The food was delicious, but it lacked the wow factor. The roast pork had a spice in the sauce, which bothered us. The cheese spaetzle was good. The beer was very tasty, and you could really taste the banana flavor from the Bräuweisse!

Excellent authentic Bavarian cuisine just across from central station. We stayed in Munich for a week and this was as good or better than any other meal we had while there. Service is excellent, food amazing, great atmosphere.

Don't bother, really rude service and clearly don't like tourists (why set yourself up near a busy train station then?). Looked at me like dirt for daring to ask them to fill my water bottle (after having paid for a meal and drinks) and told me to fill it up in the toilets!! No thank you. Please don't spend your money in this sort of establishment, I am sure there are plenty of nicer places nearby

Very good! The place is beautiful, the service was friendly, they served us in English, the food was delicious and the portions were generous. The prices were average for what you'd find in Munich; it's not a particularly cheap place. The beer tasted very good, but it was one of the warmest I've had in Germany so far.

The food was great. My only complaint was service. I dont think my waiter liked me for some reason. Maybe because I'm American. I wanted another beer, and it never came. I asked 3 times. At that point, I gave up and cashed out. I went down the street to drink at the Shakespeare. There is no delay getting a beer there.

The two of us were there on Friday afternoon. The waitress quickly led us to a table and brought us the menus. After she asked us what we wanted to drink, she interrupted us three times while we tried to answer to speak to someone else. We both chose something from the lunch special. After she took our order, she asked us seriously whether we wanted the dish from the lunch menu (about €4 cheaper per dish) or from the regular menu. When the waitress brought us our food, she asked us if we had a cigarette for her. Truly unbelievable. When the waitress was taking other orders or guests were coming into the inn, you could always hear her. She seems to have a very loud voice and likes to talk to someone at the entrance from across the room. Yes, it is an inn and not a restaurant, but in my opinion, that really doesn't have to be the case. The restrooms in the basement weren't particularly clean either. The food was delicious, and we didn't have to wait long for it. The prices are reasonable, especially for such a central location near the train station. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant, and I won't eat there again.

A very good restaurant with a very German atmosphere, very friendly waiters, good beer, and a lot of food choices. I came here specifically to eat German fried pork chops. There are many kinds of fried pork chops alone. I randomly picked a Hunter and they were all very delicious. It was the best German meal I have had in Germany.

The food and beer is good and at first sight the service seemed ok too, the problem was at the moment of payment. Watch out for tip diggers, they insist quite aggressively to tip the maximum. Tip ammount depends on the service and it was not the best at all.
