My friends and I chose this restaurant for our New Year's Eve dinner, and it was a fantastic decision. The service was excellent! The waitress who served us (I've unfortunately forgotten her name, I only know she was from Poland) was incredibly friendly, funny, and very welcoming. We laughed a lot and felt completely at ease. The food was delicious, arrived quickly, and we didn't have to wait long. A great opportunity to experience a typical German restaurant. I would definitely recommend this restaurant! 🍻🍽️

I came with my friends this Saturday, December 27, 2025, around 5 pm and we waited by the door for someone from the staff to greet us. After 10 minutes of waiting, a waiter named Alex came, very nervous and rudely greeted us and took us to a table. The food was excellent, kudos to the chef, but the waiter Alex was still rude and had a very intense smell of cigarettes. After such poor service from the waiter, we will not come again and we would not recommend it to our acquaintances. We are sorry that this happened because the restaurant and the food are to be commended.

We ordered venison and turkey schnitzel with fried sweet potatoes, but they came with only fries. Then we made a complain and it wasn’t heard, plus we only asked for ketchup, they said yes and it never came until the food finished. The foods were okay, just standard but the atmosphere was nice. The staff is disappointed.

The food selection is very large; there's something for everyone. Portions are generous, and the quality and taste are excellent. The proximity to the train station is reflected in the prices; those just passing through have to accept that. But it's definitely much better than a snack bar in the main station. Manuela served us; she's quick and efficient, some might find her a bit brusque, but I'd say she's short, sweet, and to the point. We'll gladly come back when we're in Munich. Many large groups came in, and everyone found a seat, so reservations are definitely recommended. We quickly got a very cozy little corner – it was great!

Really delicious traditional cuisine, and some dishes are even served really quickly if you need to catch a train. Great value for money and ten times better than the slop you get at Munich Central Station!

Rosa was a super friendly waitress. We couldn't finish our portion of roast pork, but she even packed it up for us and let us charge our phones while she did it. Incredibly kind. The prices are perfectly reasonable, and for a couple from Leipzig to Munich, it's fantastic to have such a typical, traditional Bavarian pub experience so close to the main train station. A real insider tip for tourists with a bit of time. And the prices are excellent, too.

We visited this place on a trip to munich. The food was first class and absolutely gorgeous. Good atmosphere and the service was excellent. Great beer too.

This review is such a shame because the night before we had such a lovely time…. Tonight, I have never felt so unwelcome in a venue. From the moment we arrived, the staff member was extremely rude, even while taking our drink order. Because of her attitude, we decided after ordering drinks not to order food and instead go elsewhere for dinner. When we informed her that we would not be ordering food, she slammed the menus on the table and walked away. She later returned and told us we could still have our drinks there, which was never our intention. Had it not been for her behavior, we would have stayed for dinner. To make matters worse, when we paid, she sarcastically said, “thank you for the tip,” clearly commenting on the lack of one. Overall, the service was unprofessional and left a very poor impression

On our last day of vacation in Fall 2024 we stopped in here without a reservation on the last day of Oktoberfest. Despite it being very busy, they managed to seat us quickly. Food was outstanding and our waiter was attentive in spite of the crowds. We tried the sausage platter (delicious!) and a bavarian flat bread with bacon (amazing!). One especially interesting twist: they served the salad with warm mushrooms - I've adpoting this at home - so tasty!

We didn't have a reservation and were directed to the same table as a couple already at the table. One of us ordered a goat cheese salad and the other ordered potatoes and turkey gravy. A Culinary fireworks should be sought elsewhere, this place focuses on size. The salad was as expected, a fair size. The turkey portion was a hearty meal, which certainly made me hungry. When paying, the waiter took the change on his own and didn't even make a gesture to give it to him. Nice environment. One visit is enough.

Stopped in for a quick dinner late at night. Was seated very quickly with prompt and polite service. Had a great selection of beer and dinner options. It had comfortable seating and wasn't too loud even with a few large parties around us. Would definitely go again for some quick food and drinks.

The food was good. A bit pricey, but the portions are generous. The waiter was friendly until you left him a 10% tip. We left him 7%, and he turned his back on us and didn't even say goodbye. It seemed like childish behavior, like he was just throwing a fit. I wanted to go back, but after this, I won't. This attitude leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

A typical Bavarian brasserie, both in its decor and atmosphere, and even its somewhat rustic service 😀. The food we ate was good, with generous portions. The atmosphere is very noisy; you'll either love it or hate it. This place seems very popular. A word of advice: double-check your bill, there can be mistakes.

The food itself was decent. We ordered the Münchner Kartoffelsuppe, the Käsespätzle, and a schnitzel with mushrooms. Everything tasted fine and the portions were reasonable. The place also has a cosy, traditional feel, which we appreciated. The service was okay. We were shown to our seats, our order was taken, and the food was brought out. That was about it. Nothing to shout about. What really pulled the experience down was being pressured for a tip at the end. Tipping in Germany is usually entirely optional and based on service, so this felt unnecessary and a bit uncomfortable. Overall, the food was good enough, but the service and the pushiness around tipping took away from the experience.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch at Rechtalerhof. I was looking for a place that has Leberkäse and got lucky that the restaurant was close to my hotel. Leberkäse is the ultimate comfort food to me, so having two thick slices with fried eggs was perfect. The chips were good aswell and it was a satisfying lunch!

My wife had the roast pork and I had the venison ragout. Her dumplings were still half-frozen, while mine weren't soft at all and the venison was very fatty and stringy. Portions were generous, but at €20-30 per dish, they weren't cheap. Service was okay; we were asked several times if everything was alright, and the food arrived quickly. The atmosphere was pleasant. All in all, if good food is important to you, I wouldn't recommend it. But it's probably quite nice for a beer in a pub.

We each got the lager beer, I got the schweinshaxe and she got the hunter schnitzel. Both were huge and we struggled to finish them even though we only had a small breakfast and no lunch. Definitely would come back.

This is a very typical German restaurant. The food is very good - presented well, hot and tasty. The service is good but the reason I have given it a lower score is not because of the attentiveness of the server but because of the pressure given to ensure you tip. To have the fact that the bill does not include a service charge is absolutely fine but to be repeatedly asked to provide a tip on the credit card not in cash was a little annoying.

I hadn't been there in a very long time and was so pleasantly surprised. Very friendly young waiter who spoke good English, which I noticed after my recent trip to Las Vegas. And the food was very tasty and fresh, with good portions; we had roast pork and suckling pig. A hidden gem near the main train station; the ceiling painting is great too.

I was here for lunch for the first time, on a Monday. I ordered the pork loin, a currant spritzer, and a side salad from the lunch menu. I told the server exactly what I wanted: "from the lunch menu..." The food was good. After paying, however, I was surprised. The dish, the drink, and the side salad were much more expensive than they had been listed on the "lunch menu." After I complained, it turned out that the lunch menu on the website was outdated. As someone not from Munich, I wasn't aware of this. Nor did I understand why the drink and side salad were so much more expensive. The manager couldn't do anything about it. He just said that something could be done next time. What a shame.

I can’t recommend this place enough! Best food and service! We came to Munich for a day trip and were going to go to the Hofbräuhaus for lunch but found this place two minutes from the train station. The service was exceptional. Our drinks came in minutes and the food arrived fast and hot. The server recommended we order from the lunch menu because the normal portions are very large. Good advice. We left full but not stuffed. My daughter had the Schnitzel (Wiener Art) and I had the cheesiest Käse Spätzle of my life! Super yummy 🤤! Prices are very reasonable considering this is Munich. I can highly recommend this restaurant without reservations.

Exception and quick service! The food was wonderful. Reasonably priced. The restaurant is an authentic Bavarian eatery. We enjoyed the atmosphere. We visited this restaurant on October 31st 2025. We had no reservation, but the manager found a great table for us with no fuss. The Waitress Rosa, quickly introduced herself and offered us English language menus. Our food arrived in 10 + minutes, piping hot and delicious. Thank you for the great service!

After a day of sightseeing, this restaurant is a fitting Bavarian treat. A warm atmosphere and delicious dishes typical of the region/Germany (schweinshaxe! schnitzel! schweinebraten! obatzda! (curry)wurst!). Phew, there's a lot on your plate. But our doormat of schnitzel and roast beef with pickle and potato salad was excellent. For dessert, we had Palatschinken (the warm apple strudel with vanilla cream was gone 😢), with ice cream and whipped cream. The service was very prompt and direct. The bill, including beer and a soft drink (both 0.5 liters), was 70 euros.

Food came in big portions and relatively fast. Food and beer were decent, nothing to complain but nothing that really stood out from some of the other nearby restaurants. The server seemed pretty eager to clear our plates, and when presented with the bill, had to specifically mention that the price does not include the tip. I can understand how some tourists may not have habit of rounding up or leaving a couple of euros, hence the reminder, but that feeling when told made me deduct points to this place. Decent place, but if the weather permits or you're up for the walk, I recommend venturing elsewhere.

It's a nice and cozy atmosphere. They offer a fairly priced business lunch menu. Unfortunately here the portion size is pretty tiny and not sufficient. The Käsespätzle and the Leberkäse were good, but small. The service is kind of fast pushy, but then we had to wait rather long for the food to arrive. I guess the normal menu items are bigger, then it's a decent place.

Our experience was a bit different from a few of the other recent reviews here - the service was pleasant (but note this is of course no fine dining spot) and we were not asked to leave a tip neither was it highlighted that service charge is not included. We wanted to order the wiener schnitzel and received regular schnitzel instead but that’s fine. The portion sizes were more than enough for us 2 small Asians. Overall it was a good experience. (If this is what authentic Bavarian food tastes like then I am happy that there are German restaurants in my home country that serve food which tastes identical.)

Worth to say I lunch twice there, is all from convenient, authentic local food, not expensive and most important, very good selftcraft beer. It is across Munich central station, easy access spacious still impresive interior like a tabern from 19th century, staff is very attencious, however I really dislike that common practice over Munich of asking openly the customers to leave a tip. I know by experience that German people never leave tip when traveling abroad ( as much as all european people including myself).

We went for convenience, being just steps from the hotel, and without a reservation. They seated us immediately and provided us with a conveniently translated menu for the dishes and drinks. It was an extremely positive experience, both for the food and beer and for the kindness and helpfulness of the staff. Given my lactose intolerance, they promptly substituted a dish that the menu didn't specify was served with a cream or milk-based sauce. They were also very helpful in recommending what to order, pointing out what contained dairy products. The typically Bavarian ambiance, the decor, and the spaciousness of the place are also positives; we'll most likely return before the end of our holiday!

We had roast pork knuckle on our last night in Munich. Was the hostess wearing traditional Bavarian clothing? It looked really nice.

Lovely restaurant, very cheerful service lady. We arrived without a reservation and just got a table. Prices were OK for Munich, except... the ox was shredded. For €27, I got two small pieces... I think it was the oldest ox around... It was cooked pink, but tougher than tough. The sausage plate was generous and good... unfortunately, both dishes were only lukewarm. A shame for the money.

Found this restaurant from the Google map while travelling to Munich, saw the review is quite good and the restaurant is nearby our hotel. Two of us order one sausage plate and one pork knuckle, the portion is quite big and we really can't finish it. Both the food taste very good, the beer also nice.

Our first visit was soo great, food - waiter great....So we decided to go a second night. Unfortunately, the 2nd evening's waiter did not do so well. We waited for quite some time before we were asked about drinks; we moved from one table to another and the waiter didn't even acknowledge.....food took over an hour. When we asked about it, the waiter's reply...."its coming"... 5 minutes later he incorrectly confirmed, and 3 minutes later our food was delivered. No apology, and no acknowledgement thereafter. Had to go to the register to pay.....the waiter was again missing in action!

Due to its location right next to the train station, this restaurant seems to be frequented by many rail travelers who don't know where to put their luggage when all the luggage compartments in the station are full. That's what happened to us, too. When we apologized for our large suitcases, the waiter responded kindly: "Come in, you're not the first." (I'll spare the kind reader the trouble of typing out the Bavarian dialect here...) We ordered schnitzel and roast pork in dark beer sauce. Special requests were accepted with a "of course," and the food was truly fantastic. We haven't had such a good roast pork in a long time. It was topped with a piece of perfect crust, which was almost worth it in itself. :) Then we asked if we could stay a little longer, as the connecting train was late – which was no problem at all for the friendly staff. We felt completely at home in an inn with plenty of charm and a heart for stressed-out train travelers.

I'm giving it 1 star because you can't give 0. We paid €45 for dinner, a set menu during Oktoberfest. The food was tiny sausages with obviously freeze-dried mashed potatoes and a few sauerkraut, plus a tiny slice of strudel. But that was nothing compared to the rudeness of the waiters, who often responded rudely to our requests. If we hadn't paid in advance, we would have left. It was our only dinner in Munich, and it's truly a shame to have wasted it here. Avoid it.
