I really enjoyed that they balance the vibe of a traditional Wirtshaus with modern food options - plenty of options for those looking for something gluten free and/or vegetarian. Service wasn’t very attentive, but the food made up for the experience.

We stumbled across this restaurant a while ago through our voucher booklet. The food, the service, and the billing were all perfect! Very, very remarkable; you can tell the team here works together as a team. ++ The waitress took just the right amount of time (for us, anyway) to chat with us without getting on our nerves. ++ The portions were good for the price, and the food arrived quickly and hot. ++ The Keiserschmarn (sweet pancakes) is top-notch. We're very happy to have discovered you through the B-MY booklet and are really looking forward to next time :)

Many gluten free options! My fiancé has celiac and had no issues. She had the snitzel but I recommend the oven fresh roast pork. It was the best meal I had in Germany while I was there. See photos for the translated English menu I created.

The portions were very small, and we weren't full, which we think is difficult given the prices. The taste was good. The service was friendly. We probably won't be coming back, though.

Some good gluten-free dishes can be found directly on the menu. The staff is very courteous and knowledgeable and will ask for details. Children's meals were not on the menu. But we were told right at the beginning which ones were available. The Wiener-style schnitzel with fries was also gluten-free. Very tasty, friendly service and a nice sunny spot outside. We will definitely come again.

I've been to the Hohenwart many times - the food is really excellent, and the atmosphere is exactly what you want in a Bavarian restaurant: cozy, authentic, simply harmonious. What I always find strange, however, is that all the male service employees who have served me so far seem to have a strange relationship with alcohol. Every single time I order a non-alcoholic beer, I get a comment like: “All right, a children’s beer!” or “That’s not beer!”. One of the servers even repeated this comment across all three non-alcoholic beers I ordered in one evening. I never found these sayings funny. On the contrary - they create an unpleasant atmosphere every time. There are many legitimate reasons not to drink alcohol: whether for health or religious reasons, as part of a lifestyle, or perhaps because someone is currently struggling with alcohol. In all of these cases, such comments can seem condescending, insensitive or simply invasive. I would like the service staff here to show more sensitivity and respect when someone makes a non-alcoholic choice - without any snarky comments.

Modernly furnished inn with really tasty, gluten-free food. Onion roast and roast pork are highly recommended. Rarely have I eaten such tender roast pork. We'll be back. Service very quick and friendly. Gluten free beer also available.

Highly recommended as a birthday/event location! We rented the separate room with a bowling alley. With 30 people we had more than enough space. The food is of the highest quality (we chose snack boards) and the service is super friendly and accommodating (we were served by Franzi and Stefan). Communication in advance was easy and helpful. We'll definitely be back!

Hmmm. I'm a bit undecided. There were two of us there, there's nothing wrong with the Bavarian-oriented food - there are also vegan and vegetarian dishes - it's fine. The service is also friendly. It still wasn't the right place for us; we had something to discuss and an appointment to prepare. But unfortunately there are a) no small tables and b) it was very loud in the restaurant on a Monday evening. Which was of course due to other guests, but perhaps also due to a lack of sound insulation. Well, that's a shame. We ate: (Roast pork and Hohenwart Pfandl, both very generous, €17.50 and €18.90, Zweigelt 0.2 L €7.70, wine spritzer €5.50, chocolate cake €8.90, everything completely okay). After dinner we quickly said goodbye and continued talking in a quieter environment.

Absolutely fantastic! The Kaiserschmarrn was divinely delicious. Unfortunately, the fish (2 pieces) in the fish and chips menu seemed a bit underdone compared to the neighboring table.

We had a wonderful evening at Wirtshaus Hohenwart! The service was simply top-notch – very friendly and attentive. The food arrived very quickly, and the portions were really generous. Everything was delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. It's especially suitable for large groups. We'll definitely be back!

Food is very good. Service has always been friendly so far. But price performance can be better. In 2025, roast pork here will cost 17.50, which is really expensive in comparison. The interiors are a bit too dark for our taste.

I celebrated my birthday here by first playing bowling and then eating and drinking there. The phone calls in advance were extremely nice and accommodating. It was exactly the same on site. The service throughout the evening was a 10/10! We felt extremely comfortable and had a wonderful day in the Hohenwart. The ambience is great and the drinks menu had some more unusual options, which I really liked. It was also absolutely brilliant for us that you could order a beer keg and a sumptuous snack when you went bowling. Gladly again!

Food really very good. Had fish and chips and the veal cordon bleu. Both were served really quickly. Prices are decent but the quality simply comes at a cost. All conditions super friendly. Small note: add a splash of dressing to the salad garnish. We'll definitely be back

A very nice old restaurant in Munich that has retained its charm. I found the bowling alley directly adjacent to the dining room to be brilliant. The veal schnitzel was good, but given the price and the pictures advertised online, I would have expected a larger portion. Potato salad was far too little, after I asked for more, it was quite natural for the waitress to bring me one and not charge for it. Maybe it was because we were very late and the kitchen was already closing! But everything is fine and happy again.

We were working for a week in Giesing and ate here 4 times out of the 6 nights we were here. Highly recommended, the food is excellent. Modern Bavarian with some classics from across Europe as well (fish and chips!). I'm a bit of a food snob and couldn't imagine eating anywhere more than for a couple of nights but this was just excellent. Staff are very friendly as well. Next time I'm back in Munich I'll make a point of coming out here no matter where I am staying. Drinks also on point! 👍

A tavern in the city that I haven't seen in a long time. The bowling alley is still in operation here, there is a lot of carving going on, admittedly a bit loud but everyone is having a good time - a joy. The service was super friendly and quick. The food was great, there's nothing to complain about. Have fun bowling together. Really great. Be sure to reserve a bowling alley.

Local restaurant in Munich, with a very traditional atmosphere. Very German (which is why we were there, of course). However, they do have English menus, and our server did speak English, so don't be intimidated to visit. We were seated at a communal table, which made it even more of an experience, our table mates were very friendly. Food was excellent, and they did have vegan and veggie options, but also had many traditional German dishes (schnitzel, etc.). Good portions as well. Solid beer selection. Prices were reasonable for the area, but keep in mind, this is a sit down restaurant, so don't expect fast food prices (there's a McD's around somewhere if that's your thing). Parking in general in Munich is challenging, so expect to search for street parking if you're driving here. I highly recommend a visit if you're hungry, want a good meal, and are looking for a quaint place to enjoy it.

The Hohenwart has given itself a makeover when it comes to the menu. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is still rustic and cozy. An absolute gem in the neighborhood.

The food is good, the beer is also tasty, and overall the inn has a really good ambience. The service today was really subpar. Our waitress rarely came to the table, and when she did, she was very unfriendly. Last order a whopping hour before they close. What's that supposed to mean? It's a shame, it could have been a nice evening, but unfortunately it wasn't.

The taste of the food was average to slightly above average. I would always come here again if I'm in the area. The staff is nice and competent. Prices are at Munich level.

We were here in the evening and asked if there was still a table for 2 people. We were then told that we could only sit at the bar table because everything was full. After we saw that another couple had just paid and there were still gaps everywhere at the tables, we asked again and said that we had no problem sitting down somewhere. The employee behind the bar then told us in an extremely rude manner that, as he said, there was nothing available and that we should please leave. I understand that it can be stressful in a restaurant, but I've never been spoken to so rudely before.

Pumpkin soup and spicy ginger shandy are recommended as seasonal specialties. Reservations are a must, unfortunately we were turned down three times when we tried to go in without a reservation - no matter how many people, no matter what day of the week.

We were really disappointed with the kitchen and can only hope that a temporary chef cooked today. The roast pork tasted strange and bland at the same time. The meat was tough and dry. The Kässpatzn were also tasteless and simply didn't taste like anything, especially not like cheese. The service was great and very understanding. We then got a Kaiserschmarrn on the house, but it was soggy and tasted like sweetener(?). We can really only hope that the actual chef was sick, because it was really nothing at all.

A great inn! There is a bowling alley that isn't the newest anymore, but it's supposed to be fun and it is. The food was absolutely good for all of us. The service can be faster here and there, but if the dining room is full you can turn a blind eye here and there. An absolute tip, especially if you are traveling with people who want to eat without meat. Everyone will find something here!

We were greeted warmly, our waitress was exceptionally friendly and helpful (October 26, 2024). We all enjoyed the food and the Kaiserschmarn at the end was another highlight.

But you were warmly welcomed and got good seats. That fits. A real Viennese schnitzel and venison goulash were eaten. Generous portions, but also high prices. Unfortunately, the schnitzel was a bit gristly and could have been pounded better. (Still tasty.) The venison goulash was better, we also asked for cranberry sauce, which wasn't there. Overall 4 stars for this because we are rather demanding when it comes to food, the prices here are a bit high and we have had better quality. All in all we had a nice stay and that's what counts. Would love to come back.

I really didn't like the food. Our entire table, 9 people, agreed with me. Some of us ordered the Kässpatz'n. They were made with cream or something similar and we looked in vain for the “long” cheese. Taste bland. The “Styrian Backhendl Salad” wasn’t a hit either, nor was the “Yellow Thai Curry”. The conditions were very nice and attentive

Cool shop with a good mix of tradition and youthfulness, service friendly and on the ball. Prices are slightly higher for a Bavarian restaurant, but in contrast to the competition, the quality here also keeps up. Really brilliant goulash and delicious Kaiserschmarrn (it's enough for two as a dessert, but definitely not more).

It is a restaurant in a very traditional place in the city of Munich, located in front of heritage houses and a few blocks from the Kolumbusplatz metro station. It has a wide variety of typical German-Bavarian food. The decoration is all in very traditional wood. The food very good and fresh. The attention from your hosts is excellent and very careful, they always try to make you feel at home. Be sure to come and try their very delicious dishes.

Food OK, we paid almost 100€ for food and drink for four people, unfortunately I only tipped 0.30€, the guy with glasses and headband was unhappy. His statement was, for almost 100€ of food and only a 30 cent tip, I can have it again, he doesn't need it, far too little, never again😡

Four of us ate there and the food was good. The service was friendly and the food came quite quickly. You have to look for parking spaces on the street.

The Wirtshaus Hohenwart in Munich is a true gem! On my last visit I tried the homemade chocolate cake with almonds and all I can say is that it was simply amazing. The combination of melt-in-the-mouth chocolate and crunchy almonds was a real treat for the senses. The atmosphere in the inn is inviting and cozy, perfect for a relaxed evening with friends or family. The service was first class - friendly and attentive without being intrusive. I can only warmly recommend the Wirtshaus Hohenwart. Whether you're looking for a hearty meal or a sweet ending with this fantastic cake, you've definitely come to the right place! I was very surprised by this great economy. Not only was the food delicious, the atmosphere was also very nice. There is also a small bowling alley, which is also very cozy and fun. Kudos for the great service. I haven't experienced so much kindness and attention in a long time.
