Wirtshaus Hohenwart in München

A typical Bavarian inn. It is rustically furnished. The food was excellent and the service very attentive. To be sure to get a table, make a reservation.

Food was good, solid home cooking. Starter Schmirage was very good with fresh bread. Service was friendly and there is a nice atmosphere there.

We were working for a week in Giesing and ate here 4 times out of the 6 nights we were here. Highly recommended, the food is excellent. Modern Bavarian with some classics from across Europe as well (fish and chips!). I'm a bit of a food snob and couldn't imagine eating anywhere more than for a couple of nights but this was just excellent. Staff are very friendly as well. Next time I'm back in Munich I'll make a point of coming out here no matter where I am staying. Drinks also on point! 👍

A tavern in the city that I haven't seen in a long time. The bowling alley is still in operation here, there is a lot of carving going on, admittedly a bit loud but everyone is having a good time - a joy. The service was super friendly and quick. The food was great, there's nothing to complain about. Have fun bowling together. Really great. Be sure to reserve a bowling alley.

A very nice old restaurant in Munich that has retained its charm. I found the bowling alley directly adjacent to the dining room to be brilliant. The veal schnitzel was good, but given the price and the pictures advertised online, I would have expected a larger portion. Potato salad was far too little, after I asked for more, it was quite natural for the waitress to bring me one and not charge for it. Maybe it was because we were very late and the kitchen was already closing! But everything is fine and happy again.

Honest inn with nice staff, nice terrace and old school bowling alley!

Our dog was also looked after wonderfully. The food was without exception delicious for Bavarian cuisine and the portions were plentiful… We felt very comfortable and would love to come back!!

The Hohenwart offers solid Bavarian tavern cuisine without a lot of frills. The food tastes good, the portions are really okay and you feel really full. Service is also good and if you can sit outside, even better!

Local restaurant in Munich, with a very traditional atmosphere. Very German (which is why we were there, of course). However, they do have English menus, and our server did speak English, so don't be intimidated to visit. We were seated at a communal table, which made it even more of an experience, our table mates were very friendly. Food was excellent, and they did have vegan and veggie options, but also had many traditional German dishes (schnitzel, etc.). Good portions as well. Solid beer selection. Prices were reasonable for the area, but keep in mind, this is a sit down restaurant, so don't expect fast food prices (there's a McD's around somewhere if that's your thing). Parking in general in Munich is challenging, so expect to search for street parking if you're driving here. I highly recommend a visit if you're hungry, want a good meal, and are looking for a quaint place to enjoy it.

Authentic Bavarian Rockstar homerun - if you reserved a table. If not, you will probably be out of luck. If you manage to get a table, you'll be blessed with a true Bavarian treat and atmosphere. Will be back.

We were there spontaneously during the week - it was super busy and we were still allowed to sit at the bar - that was great ☺️ thank you very much for that! Nice to see the store doing so well. I really enjoy coming here to treat myself to a gluten-free schnitzel 🤗 not a given and so good! ☺️

The Hohenwart has given itself a makeover when it comes to the menu. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is still rustic and cozy. An absolute gem in the neighborhood.

The food is good, the beer is also tasty, and overall the inn has a really good ambience. The service today was really subpar. Our waitress rarely came to the table, and when she did, she was very unfriendly. Last order a whopping hour before they close. What's that supposed to mean? It's a shame, it could have been a nice evening, but unfortunately it wasn't.

The taste of the food was average to slightly above average. I would always come here again if I'm in the area. The staff is nice and competent. Prices are at Munich level.

We were here in the evening and asked if there was still a table for 2 people. We were then told that we could only sit at the bar table because everything was full. After we saw that another couple had just paid and there were still gaps everywhere at the tables, we asked again and said that we had no problem sitting down somewhere. The employee behind the bar then told us in an extremely rude manner that, as he said, there was nothing available and that we should please leave. I understand that it can be stressful in a restaurant, but I've never been spoken to so rudely before.

Top location: Cozy Bavarian and lively, attentive service, very good and rich food, delicious beer, in short an all-round great evening. Advance reservation is recommended.

Nice Bavarian inn, with very friendly service.

Pumpkin soup and spicy ginger shandy are recommended as seasonal specialties. Reservations are a must, unfortunately we were turned down three times when we tried to go in without a reservation - no matter how many people, no matter what day of the week.

We were really disappointed with the kitchen and can only hope that a temporary chef cooked today. The roast pork tasted strange and bland at the same time. The meat was tough and dry. The Kässpatzn were also tasteless and simply didn't taste like anything, especially not like cheese. The service was great and very understanding. We then got a Kaiserschmarrn on the house, but it was soggy and tasted like sweetener(?). We can really only hope that the actual chef was sick, because it was really nothing at all.

A great inn! There is a bowling alley that isn't the newest anymore, but it's supposed to be fun and it is. The food was absolutely good for all of us. The service can be faster here and there, but if the dining room is full you can turn a blind eye here and there. An absolute tip, especially if you are traveling with people who want to eat without meat. Everyone will find something here!

Delicious Bavarian food and friendly service 💫

We were greeted warmly, our waitress was exceptionally friendly and helpful (October 26, 2024). We all enjoyed the food and the Kaiserschmarn at the end was another highlight.

Modern Bavarian inn with a good mix of tradition and modernity. There is also a bowling alley. Service was tried hard, but difficult to reach by phone for reservations. But it also works online. But you were warmly welcomed and got good seats. That fits. A real Viennese schnitzel and venison goulash were eaten. Generous portions, but also high prices. Unfortunately, the schnitzel was a bit gristly and could have been pounded better. (Still tasty.) The venison goulash was better, we also asked for cranberry sauce, which wasn't there. Overall 4 stars for this because we are rather demanding when it comes to food, the prices here are a bit high and we have had better quality. All in all we had a nice stay and that's what counts. Would love to come back.

Atmospheric inn with a good menu and courteous service. We liked it on our first visit today and will definitely come back.

I really didn't like the food. Our entire table, 9 people, agreed with me. Some of us ordered the Kässpatz'n. They were made with cream or something similar and we looked in vain for the “long” cheese. Taste bland. The “Styrian Backhendl Salad” wasn’t a hit either, nor was the “Yellow Thai Curry”. The conditions were very nice and attentive

Cool shop with a good mix of tradition and youthfulness, service friendly and on the ball. Prices are slightly higher for a Bavarian restaurant, but in contrast to the competition, the quality here also keeps up. Really brilliant goulash and delicious Kaiserschmarrn (it's enough for two as a dessert, but definitely not more).

It is a restaurant in a very traditional place in the city of Munich, located in front of heritage houses and a few blocks from the Kolumbusplatz metro station. It has a wide variety of typical German-Bavarian food. The decoration is all in very traditional wood. The food very good and fresh. The attention from your hosts is excellent and very careful, they always try to make you feel at home. Be sure to come and try their very delicious dishes.

Food OK, we paid almost 100€ for food and drink for four people, unfortunately I only tipped 0.30€, the guy with glasses and headband was unhappy. His statement was, for almost 100€ of food and only a 30 cent tip, I can have it again, he doesn't need it, far too little, never again😡

Four of us ate there and the food was good. The service was friendly and the food came quite quickly. You have to look for parking spaces on the street.

The Wirtshaus Hohenwart in Munich is a true gem! On my last visit I tried the homemade chocolate cake with almonds and all I can say is that it was simply amazing. The combination of melt-in-the-mouth chocolate and crunchy almonds was a real treat for the senses. The atmosphere in the inn is inviting and cozy, perfect for a relaxed evening with friends or family. The service was first class - friendly and attentive without being intrusive. I can only warmly recommend the Wirtshaus Hohenwart. Whether you're looking for a hearty meal or a sweet ending with this fantastic cake, you've definitely come to the right place! I'll definitely be back!

I was very surprised by this great economy. Not only was the food delicious, the atmosphere was also very nice. There is also a small bowling alley, which is also very cozy and fun. Kudos for the great service. I haven't experienced so much kindness and attention in a long time.

Great location, not far from Silberhorn Straße and therefore quiet. Food very tasty, service super friendly. Unfortunately, the prices are not low and the portions are not that big. But as I said, super tasty!

Very good food and service here. The Kaiserschmarrn is a must to get item here and is alone really enough for a meal. We also got the Käsespätzle which quite good and was a large portion. The fish are chips as well as the fjord lox were also very good.

Food tastes good, just charging €1 for changes is a disgrace because it doesn't take more work.

Absolute tip, always very good and attentive service, great food, nice ambience, cozy and not a conventional old tavern style. Unpretentiously pleasant! Also great for sitting outside. Pleasant audience. In my opinion, reservations are recommended.

The veal schnitzel could have been beaten better, the food overall could have been quicker - we waited over 45 minutes. The young girls in service are far too flippant - even for a pub. The menu would be very appealing and the interior is nice - a shame because of the other points.

Here they serve my favorite Kaiserschmarrn :) I would like it a bit less sweet, but anyway, it was SO GOOD!

Bavarian inn with a great service team and a great range of food and drinks

Following a recommendation we ended up in Hohenwart. We liked it very much. Prompt service of beer and food as well as a very warm and tasty Pfannerl. We were also given friendly information about the ingredients. No problem for food allergy sufferers. There is also a bowling alley, which was not in use at the moment. I think we will become repeat offenders. Thank you, it was great for me.👍💪🍻

Cozy restaurant, which filled up quite quickly on Friday evenings, service was good. Went here because we wanted to eat gluten-free...it always costs 1€ more, for example with roast pork there were no breadcrumbs on the dumplings...so we left something out and asked for 1€ more. Changes also cost 1€, I wanted my onion roast without onions, without gravy and without fried potatoes, but with herb butter and fries... I find the saying on the menu that every change costs 1€ to be outrageous, the kitchen doesn't have any more work, she just does something different...that would be service...!! So here too 2€ more....when paying with a card we were immediately asked whether the tip would be paid in cash or by card...the cellar had already decided in advance that the tip would be paid, we were then allowed to decide how... ..

Always a nice comfortable time at Hohenwart. A real neighborhood spot with delicious food, great outdoor seating and very friendly the staff.

Wiener schnitzel was really great, the potato salad was a bit sour, but okay. My burger was very good, excellent combination of meat and cheese, the coleslaw and potatoes were perfect!

We were there for the first time and followed the app's recommendation for gluten-free restaurants in Munich. All in all, a very successful visit! The staff was very attentive, personable and also very knowledgeable and attentive regarding the gluten-free options. In addition to the gluten-free schnitzel and beer, there are other options that are declared on the menu. The food was delicious and the next time we are in Munich we will definitely come back. Absolutely recommended, even for people with celiac disease / gluten intolerance! :)

The food is good, with a lot of variety and the dishes are very generous, which is a plus. The service is good, the waiter who served us was very kind and friendly, and they were also quite fast. The ambiance is nice, very Bavarian, and also pub style. Overall it would have been a 5 star experience, but one star must be removed because when we paid they didn't show us the bill with the list of what we had eaten and there was some extra money that we didn't explain, it was probably a tip. In the end, however, very recommended.

Everything perfect and super delicious!! Unfortunately I have to deduct one star for the closed coffee machine at 9 p.m.

Unfortunately the cordon bleu with fried potatoes was only lukewarm. It was warmed up again, so the fried potatoes were soaked in oil. The onion roast was ok, maybe it should have been in the pan for a minute longer. We had a voucher from B MY Munich. For a dish over €30 I expect more. It was reported to the kitchen, but we had nothing about it. Overall unsatisfactory. Service was very nice. The plague of flies in sanitary areas is extremely annoying.

As always, the food was delicious, the service was good and committed. Certainly not the cheapest in the area but definitely worth a visit.

A beautiful inn, nicely and comfortably furnished. The service (Stefan) was excellent. However, the onion roast was almost a disgrace. For 27.50 euros we ate the smallest onion roast ever. It felt like 100g of meat, no trace of delicate pink. The fried potato was lukewarm and totally cheesy. So dear ones, you should be able to offer a bit more for the money. Unfortunately that was nothing.
