Liebighof in München

I ate a lot in Liebighof as it is close to where I live and it is always my go to for comfort food. The food is absolutely fantastic, portions are super generous (so go hungry!) and the staff is always very welcoming.

We ate lunch there. Just wanted a light lunch so I ordered salad with sliced pork and my wife ordered a mushroom omelet. Well the portions were huge. The omelet must of had 5 eggs in it and her meal came with a dinner sized salad. My salad with pork was also dinner sized and a whole meal of pork on the salad. Both meals were fantastic. Of course dunkel beers with lunch just toped it off. We liked it so much we ate here two days in a row.

Only one server was working, and she wasn't having a good time. Don't get the tomato soup with cream.

We enjoyed a truly delicious lunch here with two children. The service was exceptionally friendly, and small special requests were dealt with in a straightforward and friendly manner. The menu is extensive and offers a variety of dishes. The taste and quantity of the food was very good, and we didn't have to wait long for our food. The atmosphere is also pleasant. The only drawback, if you're trying to find one, was the lack of high chairs. That would have made sitting together a bit more relaxed. Overall, we highly recommend this restaurant and are delighted that we stumbled upon it by chance.

I've rarely eaten such a good schnitzel, and the Kaiserschmarrn was sensational! Plus, the service was very friendly and the atmosphere was very rustic. Highly recommended!

Wow! That was a real hit. We happened upon the Liebighof by chance and luckily snagged a seat. It was a Thursday evening and the place was packed, and we found out for ourselves why: super friendly and attentive staff, super delicious and freshly prepared food, super fresh produce, and virtually no waiting time despite the full house. A cozy, nicely decorated restaurant. And then we met some nice people at our table – it couldn't have been better! Top-notch! Highly recommended, and we'll definitely be back!

A typical Bavarian Augustiner inn, as you'd expect in Munich. A reasonably priced lunch menu, otherwise a menu with the usual classics of hearty cuisine to fill you up. Dark wood, lots of decorations, depending on the season (Wiesn and Christmas season). Very attentive and fast service, sometimes a bit on the charmingly brusque side. Quite large outdoor area with a beer garden in the summer months. Reservations strongly recommended. Overall, good, with room for improvement in the kitchen, which used to be better (10 years ago), and the menu rarely changes. While the daily specials continue to offer fairly priced dishes, the seasonal specials have reached very high prices for a rather simple inn like this, e.g., asparagus + ham for €34.80 or asparagus + small veal schnitzel for €41.80.

No, because the staff member who had to prepare the outdoor areas for the 3 p.m. opening was so unfriendly and inappropriate that I can't imagine the service and hospitality being any different after the opening. There are plenty of alternatives with friendly staff.

Traditional german pub style. Authentic food, I had the viennese Schnitzel with potatoes. Big portion size, tastes great. Staff was friendly, english speaking if needed and attentive.

We had pre-booked and weren't entirely happy with the reserved seating because we had children with us. We were given a suitable seat immediately. The service and food were excellent.

We ordered the Liebighof special and the Viennese schnitzel. The portions were large, two people could easily eat the schnitzel, but we couldn't finish them. However, the meat dish was undercooked and underdone. No one asked for doneness; if you didn't like it, you had to specify. The flavors weren't bad.

We had business in Lehel over the weekend. For lunch, we decided to go to the Liebighof in the beautiful weather. The outdoor seating on a surprisingly quiet side street was great. Inside, a truly rustic "corner inn" awaits guests. Very clean, friendly service, and a Bavarian menu. Seasonal dishes. "Real" Wiener Schnitzel, Cordon, and many delicious specialties! We tried roast chicken, Angus steak, and the salad chicken special – each dish was finely presented and tasted "top-notch." Friendly hosts, fair prices, highly recommended.

A place you absolutely have to go to

A very nice, traditional Bavarian restaurant in Lehel with friendly and fast service. Good food, although a bit pricey, and only a few light snacks on the menu.

A truly excellent shop! The Liebighof isn't just a visual highlight – the decor is created with such attention to detail that you're always discovering something new. Totally harmonious and cozy. But what really stands out is Sandra. She runs the shop with such dedication, attention, and calm that you can't help but take your hat off to her. You can tell she's serious about a good atmosphere and good service – you can't really tip enough. I've rarely met someone so present and yet so in control. The food was great, the atmosphere relaxed – everything was perfect. A definite recommendation.

Nice corner restaurant and good services

Very appetizing Bavarian establishment. Three of us came with a child and ordered soup and two main courses. We were all full, and couldn't even finish it all. Very generous portions. Delicious authentic cuisine.

The food is very good, but the portions are a bit small. The service can seem a bit harsh for non-Germans, but it has a humorous undertone. The atmosphere is pleasant.

Food was nice although I wish we got what we ordered. When it came out we stated we ordered the schnitzel but a veal scallapini came out instead. We still enjoyed it but would’ve enjoyed a schnitzel more. Older waitress speaks little English so hard at times to talk

Very nice typical German place to eat. Friendly staff and nice service. We had lunch there and had a very nice meal. Nice plate suggestions. Busy for both lunch and dinner so reservations are recommended.

The older waitress was very unfriendly and not up for a joke. When I asked for the bill in Spanish, the response was, "Speak German." They also didn't ask if I wanted to pay in cash or by card. Or whether I wanted to pay together or individually.

Nice, fast service and a cozy atmosphere, but the food was a disaster. The schnitzel was cooked in old fat and not pounded. Some of the fried potatoes were so burnt and hard—and I'm not lying—that one flew off my plate when I tried to skewer it.

We visited the establishment on Sunday evening, there was a free table. The menu is traditional, but there is also a daily menu (various Italian and German dishes). In general, it was tasty, but as a foreigner, it was difficult to choose exactly what to order because there are no photos of the dishes and we had no idea what the dish looks like. It was delicious and the prices correspond to the portions and dishes.

The food and quality is sometimes very variable. Sometimes the meat comes to the plate completely dry and the other time it is perfect again. Service is TOP and beer too. Another point of criticism is that you don't get an answer to reservation requests.

Wonderfully quiet place where you can sit both inside and outside. The food was very good and plentiful and the prices were very good value for money. What should be highlighted is the daily menu at a very good price. Service was friendly, pleasant and very efficient. Parking is a bit more difficult in the zone, but there is a good connection with the U5. You have to make a reservation.

We also became aware of the restaurant through Kabel Eins. Our subsequent visit actually proved worthwhile. Cozy, rustic atmosphere. It was quite cramped, but there were so many lovely and nice guests present that it didn't bother us and we made arrangements. Service was very quick and friendly despite the stress. And the food (especially the apple pancakes 😍) was just great 👍. Huge portions, reasonable prices.

Cheaper than in the city, nice atmosphere, you can also sit well outside. The Kaiserschmarrn was delicious, the beer was well tapped. We would stop there again if we are in Munich.

Ich war während einer Dienstreise abends alleine in München unterwegs und da ich vor vielen Jahren schon mal im Liebighof war und nun hier vorbeikam bin ich gleich wieder eingekehrt, bzw. ich hatte bei dem schönen Wetter draußen einen kleinen Tisch für mich bekommen. Zunächst einmal wurde mir ein frisches Helles gebracht welches mit 4,30 Euro preislich recht günstig war. Da heute Dienstag war gab es hier im Liebighof das Angebot mit einem Hamburger, Pommes + Saucen für 12,90 Euro. Das war nicht nur unschlagbar, sondern hat auch sehr gut geschmeckt. Da es auch an anderen Wochentagen gute Angebote gibt kann ich den Liebighof wirklich empfehlen.

In my opinion, the restaurant is a real insider tip in downtown Munich. Good Bavarian food at reasonable prices, nice rustic atmosphere and Augustiner beer under 5 euros. The Augustiner is also alcohol-free and has no 🍺😉limitation. Unreserved recommendation for both locals and tourists.

I became aware of the "Liebighof" through the Kabel1 TV show "Achtung Kontrolle." The reporter/chef discovered the best roast beef with onions in Munich here; this had to be confirmed. Seven of us were there for dinner on March 4, 2025. The cozy, somewhat over-decorated ambiance and beautiful pictures create a homey atmosphere. The restaurant was already very busy at 6 p.m., so reservations are essential. However, this is only possible by phone or email. The service was prompt and very knowledgeable about the menu, but was too quiet for me. Six people ate the roast beef with onions and fried potatoes for €29.90 / approx. 200 g. Everyone loved it! Review: Emails are not responded to. And the menu is unviewable with some browsers, and the menu doesn't include the usual weight of the steaks/roast beef with onions.

First of all, it must be emphasized very clearly: the food was fantastic! The beer (€4.30/0.5L) was also great. 1 star unfortunately because of a very unsympathetic and stressed waitress. I was eating with my girlfriend and while we were waiting for the food we wanted to pass the time with something Mau-Mau. Until the older waitress told us as we walked past that no card games were allowed to be played. At first I thought it was a joke since it wasn't a game of chance, but she was serious and we respectfully packed up the cards. We got the bill, paid and left the Liebighof. Outside we noticed that the waitress made a mistake and we paid €10 too little. As honest as we are, we went back to the restaurant and wanted to pay the missing amount. Given the chance, my friend wanted to tell the waitress in a very nice and friendly way that the food was great, but the service could have been a little friendlier (waitress sometimes rolled her eyes, etc.). The waitress then said that it was all too much for her. She peppered our remaining money into my hand and didn't accept her tip. Unbelievable😂 If the owner reads this, they can say a little word to the waitress about hospitality (including towards tourists).

I had the good fortune to spend a few days in Munich, and through my walks I wanted to find a neighborhood restaurant away from the tourist spots. This was the best meal I had in town.

we made our reservation and when we showed up to the place there was no table for us and the lady said that we don’t have any reservation. after showing her that the reservation was successfully made she gave us no reaction

Two weeks ago I reserved a table for two and today they assigned me a table that they would give even without a reservation. in the middle of the room, in a very uncomfortable area for eating and talking. I was very disappointed.

We wanted to escape the hustle and bustle and found this fantastic inn. The beer was fairly priced, the food was extremely tasty and the portions were generous. I will remember it for my next visit to Munich.

Wir sind sehr enttäuscht worden und kamen aufgrund einer guten TV-Bewertung. Klar, wenn sich das Team vorher ankündigt, wird sich angestrengt. Für uns nie wieder.

La location era accogliente, il personale gentile e premuroso e il cibo veramente squisito. Durante il nostro soggiorno a Monaco ci siamo stati 2 volte e ci ritorneremo sicuramente.

One of our favorite smaller pubs in Munich. This is where the neighborhood comes together and you rarely find tourists (if you do, then in the summer). The food has always been great so far and the seasonal menu means there is always variety in the dishes. The ambience is rather rustic with dark furnishings and lots of wood, but with Bavarian cosiness. It is vaguely reminiscent of a British pub. During the Christmas season there is extensive decoration here and a special eye-catcher are the Christmas trees hanging from the ceiling. In summer you can enjoy the evening sun in the Schanigarten.
