A very cozy restaurant with a great atmosphere, excellent service, and delicious food. You'll need to allow some time, as there's already a line outside the restaurant as soon as it opens. Reservations are possible, but advance notice is required. However, it's always possible to nip in as soon as a table becomes available. Nevertheless, you can still enjoy your meal without any time pressure. It was a pleasure eating there. We felt very comfortable there during our vacation and can highly recommend the restaurant if you're in Cochem.

Six of us were there today. It was by far the best meal of our vacation. Superb quality… the service was attentive and incredibly friendly… we highly recommend this restaurant.

We wanted to eat and drink, but unfortunately, we weren't served, even though the waiter was outside several times and there were only three tables there... what a pity. We then went to the restaurant 10 meters away.

Here, I was able to heal my schnitzel trauma from the day before in a very bad restaurant. I had a fantastic hunter's schnitzel with fried potatoes. My husband had the butcher's meatball, also with fried potatoes. We were very satisfied and would eat there again anytime! It's best to make a reservation or arrive shortly after opening. People line up there! But we were lucky and got a table.

I really can't understand all the good reviews. First of all, reservations aren't possible! We had to stand in front of the restaurant for a full 30 minutes until a table became available. The steak was tougher than a shoe sole! The food there is nothing special! And please stop nagging customers with "please leave a good review on Google." They'd do that voluntarily if things were going well for you. All in all, it's a huge disappointment!

We were truly disappointed. We waited over an hour for our food – and what ended up on our plates wasn't worth the almost €24 per dish at all. The fried potatoes definitely tasted like something out of a ready-made package and were poorly presented. The steak was okay, but the "decorative" piece of tomato on the plate was a real joke and could have been done without. My partner had a schnitzel that was absolutely bottomless: soggy, tasteless, the sauce bland and lacking any seasoning. In the end, we paid almost €80, including drinks, for a meal that in no way justified the price. Conclusion: Long wait, poorly presented food, mediocre quality at exorbitant prices – definitely the first and last time for us!

We ate here twice and it was delicious. Delicious goulash soup and steak, delicious. After the card machine malfunctioned, we were offered delicious Snaps for the shock. TOP!

Unfortunately, as we were standing in line, because everything was full (which isn't a bad thing), we were skipped over for table assignments with the simple remark, "You ask, you're out." Therefore, it's not recommended. We were already standing in line for 20 minutes, and the people behind us had only arrived a minute earlier. What a shame...

My family of four arrived at 8:30 one recent evening. We were promptly given a table, and we were excited to have a good meal. A man with a white beard handed us menus and then resolutely ignored us. We were trying to avoid seeming impatient, so only once did I wave to him, with a smile, and indicate that we were ready to order. He still didn't come over. He was chatting boisterously with various local guests. Finally, shortly before 9, my wife walked over to him and asked if we might order. The waiter said that the kitchen was closed and that he was sorry, he'd forgotten about us. That was it. He didn't try to see if there was any way to fix the issue, or recommend another restaurant, or help us in any way. He seemed a little drunk. We walked out hungry, few other places were open, and we had to settle for some lousy pizza. I've never had anything like this happen anywhere on Earth. Unprofessional and disheartening. I hope that the food is good for everyone else!

Very good, home-style restaurant. Great service and delicious food! You do need to make a reservation, though (important for tourists)! We'll be back again this year during our short break. We always enjoy eating there!

Unfortunately, it was very crowded and busy that evening, so the service couldn't keep up. Everyone was nice, though. The food was very greasy. The schnitzel wasn't crispy, and some of the fried potatoes were burnt, while others weren't even cooked. But! It was delicious :) The location is absolutely fantastic! I'd give the Stüffje another chance.

On Thursday evening at the wine festival, we easily got a table by joining already occupied tables and received very friendly service. We had a great meal, received excellent wine recommendations, and enjoyed a few refreshing shots. It was a special evening for us, even without having been to the wine festival!

We had a delicious schnitzel! The portions were generous. Even a small dog was welcome, so thank you!

Unfortunately, very disappointing. We were there twice over the weekend. The first time, we got a table spontaneously. After a guest complained in front of us about a two-hour wait, and a supposed head waiter told another waitress, "We're not accepting any more orders," she didn't hesitate and invited the next guests into the restaurant. I then approached this woman and told her: If you're so stressed out here, we'd better leave before we have to wait two hours too. She apologized, and we left. So far, so good. The next day, I called 5-6 times during the day to make a reservation, but no one answered the phone. At 5 p.m. sharp, I entered the restaurant. The head waiter, visibly stressed, asked me what I wanted. I politely asked for a table for two at around 7:30 p.m. He replied in a very arrogant manner: No, you have to make reservations weeks in advance; it's not possible at such short notice. Well, we found another nice restaurant and had a delicious meal. The "Zom Stüffje" will never see us again...staff disaster...

Delicious authentic German food in a cozy atmosphere!

Very friendly service, the waiters were nice and attentive. I ordered the Mosel wine roll with a large portion of fried potatoes – very tasty! The grape spritzer was also very good. I arrived at 5 p.m., and it was busy, so the food took a little longer, but the wait was worth it.

Everything was perfectly arranged by Dennis and his staff. We had a fantastic medallion with delicious vegetables and fries. We had a bowl of delicious salads. We enjoyed a wonderful bottle of wine. In short, it was a wonderfully delicious and incredibly cozy restaurant. My wife had a truly amazing steak 🥩. So delicious, so tender, and perfect with that wonderful wine. A thick, fat, delicious! 👌

Hidden Gem with Delicious German Cuisine" We enjoyed a delicious, authentic German meal here. It's the only place in the area with such a high rating — and it's well deserved. The restaurant is not the easiest to find, but it's absolutely worth the effort. If you're into fancy, upscale dining, this might not be the place for you. But if you appreciate good, flavorful food, the location won't matter. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. One tip: check the opening hours and arrive early, as seating is limited and it fills up quickly.

There was seating inside, but they asked if I wanted to wait an hour or sit at a table outside, near the trash can. I didn't eat. It might be delicious, but it didn't seem like a friendly restaurant. Who wants to eat in front of a trash can?

There's a line, and the restaurant isn't rushed! You should expect to wait. The wine is like table wine. The schnitzel is good. The fish is delicious. The pita bread, like the German pizza, is excellent. So, if you're willing to wait, you'll get a good result!

There were eight of us there, and unfortunately, no one was really full. The food was delicious, but the quantity could be improved. The "Tip of the Day" consisted of three mini pork fillets and fried potatoes with a small slice of tomato as garnish. There was still room on the plate for a few more fried potatoes or meat. Unfortunately, service was also a bit slow. The people waiting outside for a free table kept looking at our plates, which was unpleasant.

A very nice ambiance in itself. The 25-minute wait for a table inside was promising (people were queuing just to eat there, which was actually a good sign). Then the food arrived. I had stuffed pork rolls. They tasted okay, but very dry. The sauce was very thin and tasted of nothing. The fried potatoes were still half-raw and either very light or burnt. My wife had the cream steak. It was overcooked, topped with standard cheese and ham. The cream sauce was very lumpy (implied to be a packet sauce). We also ordered vegetables with Béarnaise sauce for €5.50. This was cheap frozen vegetables (recognizable by their shape) with packet Béarnaise sauce. The vegetables were also poorly thawed, with water still collecting at the bottom of the tray. All in all, a very disappointing experience. We will definitely never return and definitely do not recommend the restaurant.

We called to make a reservation for three people. We didn't need to, because despite it being busy, we were able to get in, and the wait was a maximum of 10 to 15 minutes. While we were waiting in line, we saw several people join various tables, which was allowed and allowed, but then they received absolutely no service, not even a drink or anything. There was even a couple who went in to pay, but were sent outside and then had to spend over fifteen minutes trying to get their attention to pay, to no avail. Finally, after half an hour, it was our turn, and we saw at least 16 people leave, only to find there wasn't room for three. We were honest on the phone and told them it wasn't convenient. But no. Unfortunately. A terrible experience.

We were very lucky to spontaneously get a table in the evening at the beginning of August. The lovingly prepared German cuisine and very friendly service made it feel very comfortable, and we wished we had more time. Standing in line before the official opening time was a really good idea.

The schnitzel was truly delicious. We arrived with our toddler shortly after 5 p.m. We easily got a table during peak holiday season, where we could easily park the stroller. The staff was very friendly. The food also arrived relatively quickly. All in all, great!

I've eaten there several times now, and it's been a highlight every time! The home-style food is fantastic, the staff is incredibly friendly, and you can hardly imagine a more beautiful ambiance. Just be sure to make a reservation.

The waiter told me I had to wait. I did, and I knew that from the many comments. Then a couple came in. They had just arrived, no wait, and they found a seat for them. Solo travelers are apparently not welcome there. I left then.

Greetings from Lake Constance – we spontaneously stopped by for dinner last week after a bike ride. It was very busy and accordingly packed, but we were offered a table anyway and even moved when a "better" table became available. Very attentive service, inviting (unobtrusive) small talk. The food was delicious, with a surprising number of vegan/vegetarian options. We'd be happy to come back.

Top! Stopped here after a pleasant day of hiking along the Moselle (be sure to reserve a table beforehand!). Great service, the staff and owner were super friendly and funny (a true innkeeper), and the food was absolutely delicious (even though the sausage-like sausage we were looking forward to was sold out! But then again, if those stupid tourists just "eat" everything up...)... Highly recommended! Regional produce and fair prices. We'll definitely be back on our next Moselle tour. We visited Zom Stoffe as a family of four. Unfortunately, it seemed quite hectic at times, and the constant turnover of guests seemed to be pushing the service to its limits. However, everything was perfect for us. The atmosphere lived up to expectations of a rustic wine tavern. The food wasn't Michelin-starred, but it was decent. The selection of regional wines is excellent and very tasteful. What we really appreciated about the visit was the service and the hospitable nature of the waitress, who, despite the busyness, took exceptional care of the guests.

I actually wanted to spare the proprietor the embarrassment and keep my experience to myself – but after being publicly humiliated by him for this review, I feel compelled to describe the incident in full. We waited over 30 minutes for a table – during which time other guests who arrived after us were promptly seated. Finally, we were assigned a seat off to the side, right next to the cellar entrance. Hunger and fatigued, we reluctantly accepted the offer. Our dog, who had patiently endured the long wait, barked a few times at the table – not excessively, but apparently enough that the proprietor told us in a completely inappropriate tone that he "didn't feel like serving us at all." Without further discussion, we were effectively thrown out of the restaurant – hungry and stunned. Fortunately, we later found another restaurant where we received a warm welcome and excellent service. Nevertheless, this experience leaves a bitter aftertaste – it reveals the unfortunate side of mass tourism, which is apparently more common in Cochem. Criticism, whether positive or negative, should be accepted respectfully – just as one expects to be treated respectfully as a guest. It's a shame that neither of these things was the case here.

We hadn't made a reservation, and yes, it was busy on a Sunday evening, but all credit to them for their efforts. After 10-15 minutes, we finally managed to get a spot for the three of us at the front in what I think was a wine-tasting area. The order was taken, schnitzel for three people, and after a short time (especially considering how busy it was), it was neatly delivered to our table. We'd requested separate sauces, and they were politely provided in a separate bowl. The mushroom cream sauce was delicious. The Balkan sauce wasn't as good, but because we had the sauce on the side, we could add it to our liking. All in all, a delicious meal and friendly service. Four and a half stars for us.

We were a bit late because of a wine tasting that took a bit too long, that was no problem. Food was there quickly, this was really delicious. We even got a schnaps because we needed to wait for our desert :)

We went there for the first time yesterday because of the hyped food online. From 4:45 p.m., there's a line out the door. If you're lucky, you'll get in; otherwise, you can come back later. In this case, we were lucky and got a table. You're handed the menu as soon as you enter, and everything seems pretty hectic. Our order was taken quickly, and we had our food after five minutes, which was a bit odd. The food was generally okay, but really just average, and the hype was incomprehensible to us. Ultimately, the only explanation for it was the numerous bad restaurants in Cochem. During the meal, you constantly felt like you had to hurry because the next guests were already waiting. The staff were constantly checking your table, and you felt rushed and stressed. This was definitely not a cozy, relaxed meal. Finally, I would like to point out that the prices on the website do not correspond at all to the prices at the restaurant. We wouldn't visit the restaurant again because we had the feeling of being treated like a mass-produced restaurant, but that's something everyone should decide for themselves.

I can see why this is one of the most popular restaurants in Cochem. The ambiance is fantastic, the atmosphere is great, and the owner is fantastic. Despite the crowds, he has plenty of time for humor and a chat. My advice is to make a reservation in advance. This way, you'll avoid waiting in line. The food is absolutely delicious. Good portions for reasonable prices. I understand the rave reviews. I definitely hope to return. 👌🏻

Ok, I don't know why this restaurant gets such a good rating. You get three lumps of meat with a mountain of potatoes that are incredibly salty, and no vegetables. They throw the menu in front of you. People are queuing, but maybe there's simply nothing better in Cochem. No, not for me anymore.

I went there with my husband for the first time today. Amazing! We were there at 5 p.m. because that's when they opened. There were people standing outside. We were seated so quickly and courteously. Everything went really quickly. The food was simply delicious. We'll definitely be back and would happily recommend it. Simply top-notch!

It's a shame! We came to Stüffje specifically because of the good reviews and the delicious food. Now we're standing in front of the restaurant, wanting to go in, and the sign says it's open Wednesday through Sunday from 5:00 PM, which is very strange. It's now 6:30 PM, and the restaurant is closed. Now we have to go somewhere else. We're wondering why this can't be communicated better. It's very unprofessional. Google hasn't changed the opening hours for their vacation. We drove 50 kilometers to you specifically for this. Take a look at the screenshot on Google.

I traveled especially to find the door locked. No notice, no information, no apology. Communication was unprofessional and disappointing. That's not how you treat guests. There was no mention of the closure on the website.

Based on reviews we made a reservation and lucky we did as the restaurant was full. We wanted to order some foods that originated in the area, but in hindsight probably should have ordered the schnitzel like we saw most others had chosen. Our meals were ok, but not something we would return for - we had the 300g Metzgerfrikadelle mit Zwiebeln, a meatball with onions and fried potatoes (€12.80) and Moselwinzerröllchen which was Pork roulade filled with minced meat, cheese, and diced bacon, served with fried potatoes for €14.50. The interior was authentically decorated, atmosphere was great and the service was fantastic. Despite it being very busy the two servers took the time to make us feel welcome and wait times were minimal.

Okay, cool if you don't have kids and don't have any expectations. There were three of us there at opening time, and after an hour and repeated requests, there was no food. The old white women and men went crazy because our child, not even 2 years old, touched the cutlery and candles on the table. What a naughty brat. The beer was nice. We left. Had dinner here last week. Delicious! We didn't have a reservation but there was enough space. Fast and friendly service, delicious main course!! Menu not in English. The apple strudel we had for dessert was a bit disappointing. Otherwise great, nice location, good atmosphere and very friendly service.

We had winemaker's schnitzel and would rate the food as mediocre. The schnitzel had virtually no flavor, just like the onions on top. The fried potatoes were quite good. The food in general was dripping with grease. However, the service and the prompt delivery of the food are definitely worth mentioning.

We were able to pass the time waiting for our table with a glass of wine. The service was very attentive; one of our dishes was subsequently made up for with a delicious schnapps on the house. All the dishes were delicious! There was also a selection of vegetarian options.

We had a wonderful meal with 12 people because of the festive weekend of grandpa and grandma's 55th wedding anniversary.

We went there without a reservation and had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. The food was delicious and, like the drinks, was delivered quickly. The dessert is also highly recommended! The staff is very friendly and attentive, and always up for a joke :D. Without a reservation, the wait is definitely worth it! If you don't want to wait, make a reservation in advance. For us, this is the best restaurant in Cochem :)
