We went there without a reservation, luckily we got a table straight away, the restaurant is really nice and classic. The food tastes very tasty.

We were there with 34 people. Apart from the fact that the food was delicious, the service was friendly and prompt.

We ate here at the Federweißerfest on Saturday last week. Accordingly, it was very crowded. We were lucky to get a table in the small building next door as one just became available. However, you have to keep in mind that the staff is not always on site, but can be seen from time to time. The main restaurant is nice and rustic. Toilets and payment are also in the main building. Food was super tasty.

Authentic German meals, tasty and large enough portions. Please note: quite busy and waiting time is sometimes necessary. The welcome was friendly and we had a nice conversation at the table. Service fast and neat. Our favorite: Pork medallions with fried potatoes! 🍺🍺

Although it has a characteristic appearance, the interaction with the guests is unfortunately limited. (possibly due to insufficient staff.) The meat was good. (shame about the watery pepper sauce) not really recommended.

Great home cooking, top service, gladly again!

Beautiful building where we have eaten twice now. The big problem is that the door to the outside is always open. The curtain in front too. It is therefore always cold in the late season. People sit inside with their coats on. That's not pleasant. The reason is that the staff walks up and down to serve people a drink outside. Really very sad.

Special location for eating, but no more than that. Staff was in a big hurry, we had an hour to eat. We achieved that, but it felt rushed. Staff is nice. The food was nothing special, one half slice of tomato next to some boring boiled potatoes. Compared to other places in Cochem, not a bad choice.

My husband and I are very enthusiastic about the ambience, great insights into Cochem/the Moselle in earlier times. In addition, the food, nice “home cooking”, very tasty! Very good value for money! Absolute recommendation.

Nice restaurant with a friendly owner in an old authentic building. We have been twice and both times it was very busy. The owner does his best to accommodate everyone, even with two couples at a table, if you don't mind. Food was simple but tasty, the sauce, for example, was clearly home-made and not from a package, which makes it much tastier. Service was smooth and friendly and everything was reasonably priced. I would definitely come back here.

There will be some restaurants in Cochem that can combine good food and good service. This one is definitely one of them. If you don't have a table reserved, you'll need good luck to get a free one. We took our time and accepted the waiting time. Afterwards we got a table for four and shared it with two Dutch people. It was a fantastic evening with very good food and a fantastic atmosphere in a great atmosphere. Thanks.

We where seated on the wine barrels in a small side room of restaurant. The waiters kept forgetting this area and the area was not cozy. People went inside to place orders or to pay because the waiting was so long. If they want to seat you here don’t do it and just go elsewhere. The main restaurant looked great. Quality of the food was also good. Would recommend this place if you have good seats ;) make reservations in the weekend.

We hadn't reserved a table and we each treated ourselves to a cold drink in advance while we were waiting. The food was plentiful and very tasty and a friendly waiter who kept an overview despite the stress.

Indeed one of the best in Cochem for a traditional German dish

There is nothing that doesn't exist... lousy service and lies from the owner/operator: - 2 weeks before the start of the trip, according to the owner/operator, no reservation is possible (telephone request), although it is stated on the website - on the day approx. 3 hours before dinner: reservations according to the reservation book are partly possible, if you ask the waitress - no statement! - on site for dinner: 3 couples stand in front of the door and wait 15 minutes. on a table, a group of 6 men comes spontaneously (without reservation) and gets a reservation, waits 3 minutes. at the outside table, owner welcomes the group and assigns a table! Apparently they made reservations 3 weeks in advance. After consulting with the group, it turns out to be a lie (the men's group is also very surprised)! What a joke...

Despite a reserved time slot, we were able to stay there until the end. The food was very good, as were the drinks, particularly the vineyard peach liqueur. The service was wonderful, very friendly and always with a kind word at the table. The “Zom Stüffje” is fully recommended.

Great restaurant in a historic atmosphere. The service is top notch and the food is great too. Even though it was very busy, we got a table quickly. Absolute recommendation!

We didn't have much time to eat. Everything happened very quickly. I had to fight fruit flies for my food and the food wasn't really tasty either. We didn't even have time for dinner so we decided to have dessert somewhere else.

Unfortunately I can't give a review about the food. I tried in vain to reserve a table (2 people) for three days. Then went by in person and the store was already full. Asked for a table and was directed to a side room with no ambience/atmosphere. Had something of a waiting area in the train station. We politely declined and looked for something else. Too bad!!! 😂 Thank you very much for your very critical answer! If you knew that there were more than three days in a week, you wouldn't be able to write answers like that! And if you saved the time you wasted on such outrageous answers, your guests would also have the opportunity to reach you by phone. Outrageous!

Best schnitzel and service 🤩 Almost never available table, so you have to wait a bit - with a nice glass of Riesling or any other special from the region. Makes it part of experience. Stuff is super friendly and wiling to accommodate you - 100% worth the waiting🙌🏻

We thought it was so delicious that we went there twice in a row. The waiters were extremely friendly and despite the high demand, they didn't show any signs of stress. We recommend the cauliflower medallions as a vegetarian dish - incredibly delicious!! (Vegan meatballs are also available)

Admittedly, I'm not completely sober as I write this, but the reason for this is primarily due to the super personal and fast service and the atmospheric ambience. Even the rich, delicious food couldn't provide the basis for leaving this wonderful little restaurant sober in time .

The first time we were lucky that the wait for a table was not long. The schnitzel was delicious and so was the wine. The next day, Saturday, we arrived at the opening at 5 o'clock. We got a table, but many people stopped coming. This time I was less satisfied with the service; it felt rushed, like in a bistro you have to eat quickly and leave. If you have the chance, make a reservation around 7 p.m. so you can enjoy your meal more and the service is less rushed.

Not reserved, were told immediately upon arrival that there was room for 2, but had to be ready within an hour. What was strange is that several guests were told this. And they expressed their dissatisfaction about this among themselves. Food was good but nothing special.

Went there for the first time on Wednesday, based on a recommendation. We were so excited that we made reservations again for yesterday. Really not recommended. However, be patient (which not everyone can do, unfortunately) as the shop is relatively full in the evenings. When we are in Cochem again, we would like to come back.

Without a reservation you have to wait up to 30 minutes. Then it takes time for the dishes to be ordered and delivered. These are quite tasty. The atmosphere in the restaurant is rustic and cozy.

Top. Spontaneously got a table for 6 people on Friday evening. Delicious food, good prices, nice atmosphere. We'd love to come back.

We looked up reviews of restaurants and it is very special that most only have 1 to 2 stars, but this one stood out with 4.6 stars, which is why we went to eat there. The food was excellent, tasty German food without any fuss, just enjoy it. We read that the boss is quite peculiar and that is true, but not in an annoying way, we actually found him very nice and jovial. Other staff were also very friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself has a lot of atmosphere and is very cozy. This restaurant is highly recommended. It might be a good idea to make a reservation, we were probably lucky because we got there quite early (and out of season), but it filled up quickly.

After the four of us had planned our vacation in Cochem and, among other things, reserved a table at Zom Stüffje, we were looking forward to a cozy evening in a rustic atmosphere. Which was definitely there. Unfortunately, the hectic greeting and allocation of our table gave us another lesson. For a comfortable end to the evening, which according to the reservation was only supposed to last 90 minutes, the service was far too hectic and there were also many waiting guests who had to watch us eat and drink. Unfortunately, from our point of view, one of the worst restaurants in Cochem.

Were there today, immediately at 5 p.m. The service was friendly and nice, but I didn't find the boss so friendly, he slammed the menu on the table and didn't do it to other people. It's not possible that you're received differently. I won't go there again.

Typical dishes with beer or wine🍷. The meal is a good basis for sociable hours afterwards. Service was good and quick and the price was also completely reasonable. Not too expensive for the tourist city.

The restaurant was very crowded and people were queuing at the entrance. We were given a table in the next building. This is very nicely and comfortably furnished. Unfortunately, the waitresses didn't have us on their radar, so all four tables in the building had to wait about 30 minutes before orders were even taken. The waitress ran to a table three times with a glass each to bring it there, but didn't pay any attention to the other tables. A table of four people got up and left without ordering. Only when a man asked the waitress to take the orders did they come. The wine was served with the cork closed and further orders could only be made if an active request was made. The thing with the cork can happen and was funny, but it just fit into the overall picture. The food was okay so far. Jägerschnitzel with fries, everything was good so far, but nothing special. Unfortunately, we had to wait 30 minutes to pay because there was no service in the neighboring building. We went in. Since something went wrong when booking the meal, a special waitress had to come, the other two apparently couldn't/weren't allowed to do this. The waitress was informed by his colleagues, but he took his time and had a detailed conversation with guests who seemed to be friends. This situation was visibly uncomfortable for the other two waitresses, as a queue was already forming. All in all, the store could be more structured and customer-oriented. Apparently they don't want guests to come again.

Had to reorder 3 times because the dishes were no longer there after 45 minutes of opening

Not recommended. Reserved weeks in advance, we were shown to the table. After three minutes we were told quite harshly that we couldn't sit there because there was room for five people. Transferred to the cat transit table and informed that the table was only available for us from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., we considered leaving. Since the city is full, we decided against it. The time limit was not mentioned when making the reservation. Food was ok, quite a few black fried potatoes. Schnitzel with fries was good. We only got drinks once. Very disappointing, many reviews here seem to be fake!! If you don't value service and politeness, you can get edible food here. Hectic pace and the feeling of being a burden are included. Since we had a great meal at Uncle Willi's on Friday and the service and everything there was 100% perfect, this was a real letdown.

Our impression (there were four of us) was very satisfactory, that the food was very good (two farmer's schnitzels and two medallions). Dennis and his team are outstanding. All in all, highly recommended.

We've been to Stüffje twice in the past week!! All you can say is: great service, rustic but appropriate atmosphere, food (we had Saumagen, meatballs, wine rolls, among other things) very tasty and good portions. Prices for food and drinks are at a normal level (not exorbitantly exaggerated and also of poor quality, as is the case in almost all the surrounding restaurants). Conclusion: if you go out to eat in Cochem then go there (just not in the front row with a view of the Moselle)!

Nothing works without a reservation. At first we were ignored by the staff, then more or less thrown out (not reserved).

I actually wanted the Palatine Saumagen, but unfortunately it was already sold out. The farmer's schnitzel also tasted great. The waiter and the ambience were also great. It's better to reserve a table, we were there on Friday and were lucky to get a table. After us, a few others had to wait for a free table.

I recently dined at Zom Stüffje in Cochem, Germany, and had a wonderful experience. The schnitzel was delicious, and the food overall was excellent. What truly stood out was the exceptional service. The owner went above and beyond to accommodate us by preparing a room so that our baby could be comfortably seated for breastfeeding. This level of care and attention made our visit even more special. The combination of great food, outstanding service, and excellent value for money makes Zom Stüffje a must-visit. Highly recommended!

Skilled labor shortage: The struggle is real. My meal was mistakenly canceled instead of a bottle of wine that we never ordered, which was only discovered late when I asked where my food was. My partner had already eaten by then. And the student assistants also have another way to become a waiter. There was no salmon on the salmon and shrimp tarte flambée. Redfish fillet was ok. And I have no idea whether that half slice of tomato accidentally ended up on the plate with the fish (see picture) or whether the rest of the salad was forgotten. Certainly more of a meat eater restaurant.

Always a must when I'm in Cochem. The food is excellent, the service is quick and friendly. The wooden menus are a great idea. The outdoor area with its stone benches is a bit spartan, but equipped with cushions. It is very pleasant that you can eat delicious food away from the hustle and bustle.

We were there last weekend with 6 people. We all met there from lunchtime onwards and were served very well in the wine bar. Since the restaurant we actually reserved at home didn't get the reservation on the chain, we decided to eat there too. We were informed of the waiting time until a table became available. The organization in the family business works excellently. We ordered typical German home cooking there, such as schnitzel, fried potatoes, etc. What can I say, the food was terrific. All the meat was cooked to perfection and the meat and side dishes tasted absolutely great. As for drinks, we stuck to wine. Our absolutely attentive and super friendly waiter, Dennis, recommended a Riesling Hochgewächs from the winemaker Clemens. We took a few boxes of this with us on the way back on Sunday. The next day we didn't have to think twice and went straight back there. Same thing again, great experience, polite, attentive and very talkative. Food was great again. A few bottles of the wine were then “destroyed”. We'll definitely be back and everyone who goes to Cochem should know that you can't miss it here. Top!

Because we liked it so much the first time, we went back the evening after. The landlord recognized us straight away. With such an assessment, the question always arises as to what one expected beforehand. I expected home-style cooking in an old, historic restaurant with charm. You can also find it on the internet. On the first evening we ordered a Jägerschnitzel with fried potatoes, a goulash soup with bread and an Alsatian tarte flambée. The schnitzel was very tasty, as were the fried potatoes. The meat of the goulash soup was tender but not completely broken down into fibers and cut into about 1cm cubes so it was also very easy to eat with a spoon. The vegetables and potatoes were still visible, which I personally always like. The tarte flambée was as you would expect. On the second evening we had a vegetarian tarte flambée with a whole selection of chopped vegetables that were baked with it. It really looked very appetizing and tasted good too. Otherwise we had the meatloaf with fried egg and onions, with fried potatoes and a side salad. Fried onions were draped between two slices of meatloaf and on top a fried egg with runny yolk that still melts when you cut it open. Tastes great! The fried potatoes were good, just like the night before, but could perhaps use a little less oil. The side salad was completely sufficient for what it was supposed to be. A little coleslaw, a little coleslaw marinated in vinegar and oil and a little green salad dressed with yogurt dressing. The service was very nice and attentive. A relaxed atmosphere in which things can sometimes get a bit rowdy and loud. If you need your own waiter and twelve pieces of cutlery for the six-course menu, this may not be the right place for you. But if you want to eat delicious food at a fair price in a relaxed atmosphere, you should move away from the promenade and come here. We had four drinks on both evenings and paid around 55 euros per evening. Thanks for the hospitality.

We had made a reservation the day before and had a very nice evening there today. We were told in a friendly and charming way that the kitchen might take a while today. We didn't think this was a bad thing at all and it showed us that our food was freshly prepared. We were very positively surprised by the food. It was very tasty and had pleasant service (two ladies took care of us). Drinks were great too. At the end there was a little chat. Overall a great evening. We would love to come back.

Food was okay, but nothing special. Food arrived within minutes. Price/performance was just fine. The side salad costs extra. We've experienced something different in Cochem. It was also annoying that not one of the waitresses was responsible for our table. So something was always forgotten. All in all we won't go there again.

Rustic inn with friendly staff. The Jägerschnitzel we ordered was more like molded meat and the sauce wasn't homemade either, so there was no taste explosion. The fried potatoes were limp and soft. I don't have to go there again. Add: The answer speaks volumes...I have to lower the rating again.

Waiter forgot about us and when we finally had to call someone to place an order the kitchen was closed. Menu looked dissapointing anyways.

Old village restaurant where mother still cooks. Not suitable for schikimikki people

Unfortunately a somewhat disappointing experience. We had reserved several weeks in advance, but were still only given 90 minutes for our visit. There was a queue of waiting guests outside and people looked impatiently as we finished our glasses. In addition to the hectic atmosphere, the temperature inside was around 30 degrees, the air conditioning was switched off and, according to other guests, a radiator was glowing in the guest room, at least the windows were wide open. Unfortunately, the food was also rather modest, the farmer's schnitzel tasted of almost nothing. Apparently it has to happen so quickly that the taste falls by the wayside. All in all, not a tourist trap like other restaurants in Cochem, but nothing special either.
