Overall, a quaint, cute, and cozy place. The staff were friendly, and the place was very busy. The food was okay, but not what we expected. The fries were good, but the schnitzel itself was bland, dripping with grease, and mushy, too soft, and not at all crispy. We'd give it 3.5 stars. The prices are relatively good. But we wouldn't go again.

Despite the group size, the food was delicious and the portions were absolutely sufficient. It's nice to see that even larger groups are excellently catered for here. We were particularly impressed by the fast and very friendly service. Despite the large number of people, the staff were attentive and friendly, making us all feel very welcome. The organization and service of our large group went smoothly. The restaurant exudes a charming atmosphere, which made our girls' afternoon even more enjoyable. Another big plus was the friendliness of the chef, who was very accommodating and cared about his guests. "Zom Stüffje" in Cochem is definitely a great place, even if you're traveling in a larger group and value good food, friendly service, and a charming ambiance. The owner is extremely friendly, and we felt very comfortable. The food is fresh and absolutely delicious. We went there twice within three days. Due to the great overall atmosphere, it's quite busy, so it's worth arriving early!

The place was busy around dinnertime, but they accommodated us with a table quite quickly and we were pleasantly surprised - the food was amazing! Pork medallions & goulash soup was very tasty. Authentic German vibe.

We were on a get-together in Cochem and had already made reservations weeks in advance. When we arrived our table wasn't free yet - that could happen, we waited 15 minutes. Drinks and dishes were brought very quickly. We had just finished eating when the waiter came, barked at us whether we wanted another schnapps and then should leave, the others would already be waiting. We hadn't even finished our drinks and had been sitting in the restaurant for less than an hour. The tone with which we were thrown out was underground - I've never experienced anything like that before. I strongly advise against visiting this restaurant if you want to have a nice evening.

We landed in Cochem on a river cruise and stayed for 1 1/2 days. Arrived at “Zom Stüffje” thanks to a tip and were immediately impressed by the location. A great clock style in the guest room with very warm owners. It is advisable to make a reservation, but you are rarely denied a spot even spontaneously. You can wait for a free table with a drink that is served very quickly, which we found very pleasant as it didn't take long. The service was very structured and the team's interaction was impressive to see. The food came very quickly and the kitchen knows exactly what it is doing. Kudos to the cook 😊. We had a small plate with Saumagen, butcher boulette and coleslaw, then the “Viennese style” schnitzel with fries. Everything was excellent and delicious, some of the reviews can't be understood. We would have loved to come back more often, but we had to move on by ship. Will definitely eat there again.

Full German restaurant, menu is German, not a lot of options, but would give a tip: schnitzel with mushroom sauce. Perhaps not the best food, but it is not bad and truly an experience. Brown interior with attractive interior (1642). creative staff (we were combined with another Dutch couple), but they are running out of steam. Full effort, nice atmosphere, among the Germans. Don't be too Dutch, but enjoy the German schnitzel, flammkuchen, sausage, beer (or appropriate to the region) Mosel wine!

The food is very good, really recommended. It is very small and quaint. The service was very nice, even though it was really full, everyone had a kind word. My husband ate Saumagen for the first time in his life and was very excited. It's 200% worth reserving a table for Zom Stüffje! And I can only wish everyone GOOD APPETITE!

It was that delicious. We only ate here on vacation - for good reason. The service was warm and quick, the dishes were delicious. Our dog was warmly welcomed. We felt like we were at home - just ate better.

The food was very tasty! 🥗 We had the side salad first and then our main courses! 🍴 The atmosphere is rustic - typical "Brauhaus" - but very cozy! During our trip to Cochem we ate at the Zom Stüffje restaurant. Overall, the food was okay, but there is still a lot of room for improvement. The fries definitely needed to be fried longer and were barely salted. Actually, fries should be seasoned immediately after frying, but leaving that to the guest is not a good solution. What we unfortunately also noticed negatively was that the staff seemed very stressed and overwhelmed. There was no clear order as to who served which table, and in just 45 minutes we were able to observe several errors in service from our seat right at the checkout. It all seemed a bit chaotic. The sauce for the meal wasn't homemade either, but tasted like ready-made sauce. That's a shame, because the restaurant itself actually has real potential. The location is good and the menu sounds promising. All in all it was a satisfactory visit, not bad, but not something that we would necessarily have to come back for.

I can recommend this place without hesitation. The food was delicious, the wine was excellent, and the service was consistently friendly. They even gave us a few tips for places to visit when it wasn't too busy. The ambiance is authentically rustic and a change from the often overly stylish restaurants that often seem the same these days. Be sure to make a reservation in advance.

Very nice restaurant. Great atmosphere. The building is authentic which is a big plus. It was very busy (all full), Dutch may Holliday and the German day off because of May 1st. We came with nine and just tried. A friendly man told there wasn't room but he was going to see and asked to wait five minutes. He arranged some space. He could've send us away but he took the effort. We had a nice meal. And although it was busy, it doesn't feel like it. Employees where working hard. People where waiting outside to get a table. It's that popular. The food was very good, all went well. While all chairs where filled it didn't take long. We would go here again for sure. Thank you waiter to take the effort to get us two tables together (as one table) while being so busy. That's special.

Super friendly staff. We were assigned a table for four in no time. Rump steak excellent quality, as are the butcher meatballs. We can recommend the restaurant without reservations. The entire staff does a great job.

We looked for a kitchen with local dishes... and found it! The always same kitchen on the promenade put us off. Boring! We were day tourists in Cochem and got the recommendation from the bus driver who goes to the castle. However, you have to be there by 4:30 p.m. We got there at 5 p.m. sharp and with difficulty got the last four free places. Everyone else had to wait. But the wait is worth it! Super delicious cuisine and mega-friendly service. There was no sign of the stress the waitress was under because there were always people waiting on the street. TERRIFIC

We visited this restaurant on Easter. They were supposed to close half an hour earlier, but kindly seated us anyway. The food was delicious — authentic German dishes — and we left our plates completely empty. We highly recommend this hidden gem; you won’t regret it.

Very cozy restaurant with good food

Zom Stüffje is a quaint old town restaurant. It is advisable to make a reservation because the crowds are considerable. The employees were friendly, but one or two service staff would have usefully reduced the waiting time. The kitchen seems well organized as it took very little time from ordering to serving. The fried potatoes are a key criterion for me. From the pan instead of fried, crispy and not too greasy - everything is ok. The gratinated back steak was discounter quality, nothing more. And the cream sauce had already been bagged by Maggi as a precaution. The green salad came fresh to the table, the cabbage and mixed salad came from Lidl's refrigerated shelf. Conclusion: If you want to eat here, you would do well to reserve a table and be hungry - the portions are generous. Whoever is in the kitchen - with a little more passion and love for cooking, they could turn Stüffje into a real insider tip from the simple recipes on the menu. So it's just a middle-class inn that you can visit now and then without always wanting to come back.

In any case: my daughter and I really enjoyed it. She still raves about it. We wish we could always come here.

Totally quaint restaurant in the heart of Cochem. We dined here with a large group of 12 people and had a really good evening. Super friendly, warm service and really good food. Totally authentic and really nice and cozy atmosphere. The drinks were also really tasty and the time in which the food arrived was record-breaking. I think we'll come back again. Separate payment also worked well and the prices were more than reasonable. Reservation must be made, there was a line outside :)

If you are in Cochem, then you should definitely eat there.. the waitresses are very friendly and motivated.. we had a salmon tarte flambée as a starter, the main course Jägerschnitzel, the pork loin and at the end the warm apple strudel. We were blown away.. very tasty.. 😍🤤 Big compliments to everyone and keep it up...

We chose the restaurant based on the rating and on the recommendation of the hotel, unfortunately we didn’t even get a drink, the order was accepted 30 minutes after landing in a half-empty restaurant. Apparently we were very unlucky with such terrible service. The establishment does not respect its guests, neither bread nor drink; when passing by, they constantly say that I will come to you soon, this is not professional. After 42 minutes, we canceled the order, and the reaction: - the beer is already standing, I’ll serve it soon... the word Sorry is not known here. This is no respect!!!!! Also pay attention to how the owner of the establishment or manager reacts to negative reviews. The impression of Cochem was ruined and the evening too. Good luck ! I had dinner there with my husband and this restaurant was recommended to us based on the reviews. Service was great. Food was ordered. Drinks came immediately. Great up to this point. We got table neighbors who had 2 hinds with them. I love animals. I have cats at home. But I ask you, dogs hair in their food? Nope, it doesn't have to be that way. Ordered steak and ate it. Even with flying hairs in the air. I asked the waitress if it was allowed. She proudly said yes animals were allowed there. As I said, I love animals and have nothing against dogs, but animals don't belong in a restaurant. My opinion.

Due to the limited space, a reservation is recommended - we were lucky to get a table spontaneously. The owner is friendly but also very talkative. If you don't like that, you might feel disturbed - we found it rather pleasant. Conclusion: A charming, personal restaurant with good cuisine and a few little peculiarities that you should know.

We were on a river cruise and decided to have dinner in Cochem. They kindly accommodated the 8 of us without a reservation. The wait staff was as amazing as the food. We all ordered something different, and all loved our dinner. It was well-cooked and flavorful. Dennis was a great host. So glad we found this place in one of the oldest houses in town. We all can't stop talking about how good it was.

The place was half full. However, owner is very busy with apparently regular customers. After 40 minutes of waiting, not even a drink. He did ask people next to us (whom he apparently knew) if they wanted something to drink. And they got it within a minute. So no idea if the food is good. Certainly not the customer friendliness. After 40 minutes we left and had a delicious meal at the Alt Cochem hotel nearby. And again, the place was half full, not busy.

Food was really good, service was a little slow but we were also sitting outside. Server dropped a glass but took a long time before it was cleaned up. For the food I would fully recommend especially the steak.

We came here on a recommendation and were disappointed. The service was very nice, but the food really wasn't tasty. It was only lukewarm, the schnitzels were dripping with fat and tasted as if they had been prepared in advance and then just briefly tossed in oil to warm up. There were real blobs of grease on the plates. The Balkan-style sauce was like a canned tomato sauce with a few fresh tomatoes, some parsley, and a few strips of bell pepper. The hunter's sauce tasted of nothing. If it hadn't included mushrooms, it could have been a "can-do" sauce. The restrooms aren't particularly clean either. There are spiders and webs in the corners, and in the women's restroom, the lid on the hygiene bucket next to the toilet is missing. You wouldn't want to see used toilet paper! In the men's restroom, the urinal flushes very poorly.

Extremely real and authentic restaurant. The #1 place to go, this wa exactly what we were looking for. For me this made the trip complete and the food was the best we've had in Germany in general. Just go here don't doubt and enjoy the hospitality and good food, great service and great waiter too, he was very funny. He took a picture of himself when we asked for a group foto so we will never forget and hopefully we will see him again when we go back to Cochem! Thanks for the experience!
