Unfortunately one of many tourist dumps. You can hardly find any good restaurants in Cochem anymore. I imagined roast wild boar as something different. It looked like microwave food, and it tasted similar. No recommendation. I let myself be captured by the beautiful terrace.

We visited the restaurant last night and were very disappointed. When entering, not one waiter greated us. We found our own table and were handed a pile of menus to sort out ourselves. The ambience of the restaurant was poor. Not one member of staff could muscle up a smile between them. When ordering we were warned it could attract a fly fest. Slightly off putting. The food was average, the salad consisted of a quarter leaf of lettuce, one thin slice of cucumber and a tiny slice of tomato. Laughable. The staff were drinking beer at and behind the bar and also leaning on the bar eating food, didn't know whether to disturb then when our table required help. Totally unprofessional. Such a shame to see what was once a friendly and well run restaurant become a unfriendly fly den.

The employees came across as if they didn't feel like working & weren't in a very good mood & the apple strudel was bought from a very cheap brand. I wasn't satisfied.

So the food itself really isn't bad, you'll find exactly what you'd expect from a German restaurant... However, that's overshadowed by the really unfriendly staff, who somehow seemed like they didn't care at all on customers, and an atmosphere that is complained about by countless flies, dirty tablecloths and a generally rather unsightly appearance. I don't know if I was just having a bad day, but I wouldn't exactly recommend it. Nevertheless, it definitely has potential: the food and the location as a basis are really okay

Even though it was really busy, every employee tried to look after each guest. The food was really good and sufficient. Everything was clean.

We actually wanted to eat deliciously but we were very disappointed. The selection was very small. We ordered a schnitzel. It was on the table within five minutes. You could taste that too. The bijlage wasn't quite as good either. I said to my wife: This schnitzel is baked in the deep fryer next to the fries. When paying, I asked the waitress: how can it be that the schnitzel was ready so quickly. She said: this is baked in the deep fryer. I said are we in a restaurant or a snack bar?? Absolutely not recommended. Most of the food here is fried.

There is mainly meat on the menu, schnitzel rules. I chose the sea bream. That was really ok too. The service staff seemed very listless and lazy to me. The interior is a bit cool, cafeteria-like. But we had a table on the outside terrace with a nice view of the bridge.

This restaurant does not deserve 1 star. Earned its stars from perhaps another owner. Walk past this as quickly as possible! The imbiss itself is worth even more stars. Very unfriendly, uninterested and unmotivated staff. Were annoyed and crammed into a corner with our children. We had difficulty getting another table, which she irritatedly cleared after we left. Food is dirty, tasteless, fries cheap and fried in old fat. Sauce watery and tasteless, soup tastes like it comes from a can. flesh like the sole of a shoe. Everything was ready within 5 minutes, which was crazy. Disgustingly expensive and not worth the money at all!!

Normalerweise mache ich mir nie die Mühe, eine Bewertung zu hinterlassen, aber für diesen Laden möchte ich... die Leute davor bewahren, zu viel Geld für sehr schlechtes Essen und lächerlich teures Essen auszugeben!!! Mit furchtbar unfreundlichem Personal. Wurden mit 4 Kindern irgendwo in eine Ecke gedrängt. Danach mit Mühe einen anderen3 Tisch bekommen. Es herrscht eine sehr unheimliche Atmosphäre, die Leute sind mürrisch und arbeiten unmotiviert. Davon abgesehen, einmal das überteuerte Essen serviert. Pommes billig und zerkocht, auch die Chicken Nuggets waren ungenießbar. Fleisch war geschmacklos, Soße sehr wässrig, Essen innerhalb von 10 Minuten fertig. Seltsamer unprofessioneller Laden. Hier sollte man nicht essen!!!

Sad food and sad service. Giving plates to customers instead of putting them on the table as it should be is something they apparently don't know.

Very quick and friendly, water was brought to the dog straight away. The turkey salad was huge and super tasty :) The only point deducted was the fried potatoes, which were a bit “floppy”.

Deliciously aired schweinsteak with fries and salad. They also have delicious lemonades with fruit and ice, a kind of virgin cocktails.

Cochem is nice but eating too full is too expensive and bad

It couldn't be worse, the food doesn't taste good at all. To ask for €18.50 for a ready-made schnitzel with a few fries is cheeky.

Bad food and unmotivated staff.

Unfortunately, I didn't like it. It was not tasty, the service was terrible. The waitress dropped a french fry from the dish she was selling into her hand. She returned it to the plate 😵‍💫😵‍💫 very noisy, dirty. There is no hand soap in the toilet. I don't recommend it

Rarely eaten so badly for a lot of money. The dishes were served just 5 minutes after ordering. I had a paprika schnitzel. It was very crispy and had probably been in the deep fryer three times. The meat itself was of very poor quality. Fries were counted and there was a side dish of lettuce and a tiny piece of tomato. Absolute tourist rip-off. Definitely not eating anything here.

Ontvangst: dit was een zure meneer die zijn gasten niet eens een blik waardig gunt. De bediening was het zelfde als de gastheer, onvriendelijk en hadden een vreselijke lichaams odeur. Het eten was niet vers, dit was opgewarmde meuk. De schnitzel heeft te lang in de frituur gezwommen, in plaats van netjes in een pannetje. Gebakken aardappeltjes daar kon je ramen mee ingooien. En als je dit aangaf dan werd het zo verteld alsof je er geen verstand van had en dat je niet moest zeuren. Een vreselijke ervaring!!! nooit meer!!!!!

Champion schnitzel with fried potatoes sounds good. But what was on the plate as fried potatoes was inedible, the consistency of which was more like packaging material for parcels. I completely stopped after the first two bites. Service is listless. Typical tourist restaurant. It looked quite appealing from the outside. Bitter disappointment.

Unfortunately, the food didn't taste good at all, even canteen food is a feast for the palate in comparison... plus exorbitant prices and subpar service. It's best to stay away from this restaurant!

Unfortunately we cannot report a good experience. We went there because the outside offer convinced us. We then found a place on the upper terrace. The only positive thing for us. The waiter also came quickly, but with chewing gum in his mouth and with very short words. Then we gave up the drink and the food. Food came within 10-15 minutes. We had a rump steak with fries and wild boar wine roast three mini pieces with red cabbage and croquettes with sauce. Rump steak lacked seasoning (salt, minimal pepper), was partly like chewing gum and the fries were cheap fries. Roast pork wasn't fresh (dry), it had probably been refrigerated for 2 days. Mini pieces (incomprehensible for the price). The sauce tasted like a ready mix. We left there again after 40 minutes from sitting down to eating. We won't leave our money there anymore. Price-performance completely incomprehensible.

Very bad service and unfortunately the food was not good but very bad

This high-priced chip shop is located in beautiful Cochem and impresses with its inattentive and sometimes rude staff. Absolute recommendation for everyone who is angry with their money and who likes to go home disappointed.

Worst place I've ever eaten. Not a German to be seen in the service or kitchen. Arrogant heads.

Tourist trap. Absolute catastrophe. Service was totally listless, bad toilets and the food was almost inedible. All dishes had a fishy aftertaste, fried potatoes were totally hard, not crispy and simply tasted old. A look into the kitchen: lots of warming containers. WAY too expensive for that! The water (0.5l for €6.10!) was nice and fizzy. That's the one star that you unfortunately have to give.

Never again for us. From the outside it still looks quite inviting. But what a weak snack. The sauce didn't look good, neither did the schnitzel. It didn't taste like anything. Staff was "friendly". Waste of your money.

The restaurant is very inviting at first, but once you sit down and look around, it looks a bit dated and worn out, but unfortunately the food and service weren't convincing. Beautiful wine region village, recommended to stop here, you can compare it with the Belgian Bruges in miniature, has a rich cultural history.

Very rude staff. When we entered the restaurant, we passed several staaf members but not one of them greeted us. Then we asked a waiter "Do you have a table for two on the upstairs terrace?", to which he replied by just shrugging his shoulders and didn't say one thing. We went upstairs and found a table for two. After we sat down, people on the other side of the terrace left, leaving tables near the edge of the terrace empty. We stood up and asked an other waiter whether we could sit there. He angrily replied "No! It's not clear!", like we asked a really dumb question. We were just trying to be polite and ask, instead of just going over there and sitting down. We then decided to leave, since we couldn't be treated in a normal manner. The staff of this restaurant should really take some lessons in friendliness. There are a million ways to treat people like human beings, but this was not it.

I grilled a huge knuckle with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes... What I didn't expect was that the mashed potatoes were clearly made from this packet of powder and in my opinion it just tastes disgusting... Apart from the puree, the food was delicious and the service was great.

Attracted by the many guests, I thought the food here could only be good. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the sauerbraten with red cabbage and potato dumplings. Unfortunately, in terms of taste, consistency and visual appearance (I usually take photos of my food), it's a no-go. The service was quick, but unfortunately impersonal. The ambience...Many guests crowded together. I will not enter this restaurant again.

I'm a tolerant person and don't like to say bad things about restaurants. But I'm forgiven. The food I had was frozen salmon, hot, but well, the salad, if you can call it that, consisted of a lettuce leaf, a slice of cucumber and a pepper stick. For my partner it was different food, but the same "salad". He had frozen schnitzel and thawed champion sauce. The potatoes were probably fresh, once as boiled potatoes and with the schnitzel there were fried potatoes. My conclusion, I wouldn't recommend it. But fortunately, tastes are different. Just go to the Burg Hotel, we've always had the best experiences there.

The Wienerschnitzel from the freezer in the store. The fries had barely touched the fryer. The waiter looked angry even before we entered and was not nice for five cents. The staff are having a party inside the restaurant at the same time. The worst food we have eaten abroad in years. DO NOT GO HERE!!

The staff did not greet us when we arrived or show us to any table. The food was scandalous, absolutely not homemade and completely tasteless, even the wine they served was undrinkable. Do not recommend anyone to go here.

Food is certainly ok here. You know you're going to eat something in a tourist area - you get what's on the menu (if it doesn't come with a salad, you don't get it). Furthermore, the portions etc. are á la touriste.

Recycled baked potatoes, that is unacceptable, half?!? was even cold. The salad with the very mediocre schnitzel was good. The puree with the ham seemed to come from a package (so far) but had also been reheated several times. The crust of that ham was not bad in taste, but was rock hard and could hardly be cut with a knife. Soft drinks at 3.90 euros are also pricey. The service was friendly and smooth, the location is nice. Conclusion: go eat a kebab behind the corner.

Absolute impudence!!! A salad for €15 with nothing but ready-made products and brown lettuce leaves. The salad dressing comes from a tube and has nothing to do with a dressing. Absolute disgrace and no recommendation from me. The service itself also seems rude and lacking in space. Definitely not going to visit.

The service is so bad, there is no introduction or help to outsiders.

Awful staff. Rude, unwelcoming & obnoxious to the extreme. Travelled extensively around Europe & America but €7,80 for a 70 CL bottle of water is beyond ridiculous. As always, avoid any potential tourist trap. Most other reviewers were correct!!

Advise anyone who wants to enjoy something hot to avoid this place. The 4 of us ordered sauerbraten/dumplings/red cabbage or pork medallions/French fries. Pork medallions are not tough pork schnitzels. As a drink, a glass of red wine/non-alcoholic wheat beer and Cola Zero. The red wine was also as ice cold as the beer and cola. The meal started with an over-salted beef broth and the main course was served in advance even though we were still on the toilet. The waiters were friendly, but couldn't really comment on the subject of food and drink. Well, the wine slowly warmed up and the food was then warmed again in the microwave. We no longer had any appetite for dessert, so we left the restaurant after paying €111.50. Another thing worth mentioning is that when we left, the woman behind the counter had neglected to say GOODBYE because she seemed to be leaning on the counter very tired.

The pork fillet was very dry and the fries tasted like they had been warmed up. The sauerbraten was tough and the red cabbage was lukewarm. A tourist trap for me.

Manageable portions, the "Viennese style" schnitzel was very firm and hard... like it came from a fryer. The fried potatoes were very soft and lukewarm. Price-performance didn't really fit. The location is good, the staff friendly.

The taste of the water was very bad

Very, very fast operation with slight communication problems. You can imagine that the restaurant owner is interested in serving as many guests as possible as quickly as possible. The service and quality fall by the wayside. The food was poorly seasoned and the portions were quite poor. The price has no connection to the quality here. The ambience is okay.

Another failure when it comes to gastronomy in Cochem. Ordered onion soup as a starter. But the main course arrived after what felt like 10 minutes. The soup then came more. 5 minutes later. I then politely declined.  Our grilled knuckle and beef liver (was pork liver) was subterranean. Service wasn't very friendly either. For good food you have to go further into the city center. Definitely not directly on the Moselle. Everything there just has a bistro feel.

Rump steak very manageable, onions on the beef liver still raw. Service friendly.

Food was a sentence with an X that was probably nothing, we ate with 11 people and left half of it behind.

It's been a long time since I've had such bad food and service

Unfortunately the food is mediocre, nothing really fresh, almost only ready-made products. The ambience is great, but unfortunately it doesn't make the food any better.

I wanted to eat there with my wife yesterday and we both decided on the Champion Rahmschnitzel. The schnitzel was pressed pork from the freezer. The fried potatoes tasted old and musty, I don't even want to talk about the sauce anymore, it was all DISGUSTING. I SPENT THE NEXT NIGHT IN THE TOILET. This morning I sent a message to the responsible trade office (food inspection) in Cochem. I am a trained butcher and cook myself and know what I'm talking about. Oh yes, the schnitzel came out of the deep fryer and all for just under 20 euros per person. I didn't pay anything either.

My advice is to only order something that comes completely from the fryer. The kitchen is a soup kitchen, the rest is already ready and not freshly prepared. I left some of the meat behind. Schnitzel with fries was okay.

Unfortunately I neglected to take photos of our food! We had the mushroom schnitzel, once with fries and once with fried potatoes. Both schnitzels fried very dark? or deep fryer? The mushroom sauce was very thin and there was hardly a trace of mushrooms! Hunger drove it in. When they asked if everything was okay while clearing up and I explained that it was so LaLa, the waiter only said Hmm and didn't ask what was wrong! A pity ! Definitely not again

You can eat here, really good food, friendly staff, and for a reasonable price, despite the fact that it is in the center.

Unfriendly staff and the food was tasteless. Mushroom snitzel with fries, the sauce was as thin as water and no taste at all. The fries were the cheapest frozen junk you can buy and the snitzel was deep fried and completely tasteless. I sprinkled some salt on top to make it somewhat edible. Worthless place that should not bear the name restaurant. Staff look at you in surprise and grumpy when they come to ask if you liked it and you say that it had no taste at all. Portions weren't big either. 16.80 euros was twice as expensive as the competitor Snitzelhuis where you get exactly the same junk for 9 euros!

Worst food I had since years. I also got food poisoning with the fish!

Unfortunately I have to change my recession after 2 years. It's a shame that the restaurant doesn't offer a daily menu. The portions back then were more than what we got recently. Of course we are living in difficult times now. But please. Think realistically. You would also receive a lot of sales for more portions etc. For the same money you can now get very small dishes. Which I find, to put it nicely, a rip-off. The photos are from 2 years ago and it should be like this again today.

I don't understand why so many people rate this restaurant poorly. We've been coming to Cochem for a few years and have never fallen in. A must for me is the knuckle. The meat is so crispy on the outside and tender. No problem even if you wear dentures. My wife usually uses chicken or fish. All in all a very good restaurant.

You can't eat worse. With canned mixed salad!

Absolutely not recommended! Blinded by the label “Alt-Cochem”, we entered with full expectations of good home-style cooking. Two waiters stood in the middle of the room at the cash register. In my opinion, it is to be expected that when a guest enters the restaurant, they are approached, the guest is greeted and the guest is asked if they can help and is then assigned a table. For me this is actually standard. Here it is not the case. We stood in the room, somewhat helpless and disoriented. We were noticed, but that was all. One waiter said to his colleague: "Yes, we are here." He probably thought I wouldn't notice. It was apparently a reference to the fact that we didn't go to them as guests. Although it should be the other way around or am I mistaken?! We then went up to the two of them and asked if we could sit down somewhere. Yes, where. We did. There were two people sitting at a table with huge portions and we were pleasantly surprised at how big the portions were here. Until it turned out that it was the staff's table, which was in the middle of the room and since there were no uniforms, it couldn't be distinguished from other guests. Our portion was significantly smaller. The food itself was more reminiscent of a canteen than of old German cuisine. A total of three waiters served. When we wanted to pay, it was a lucky moment to catch a waiter who gave us a quick glance and then referred us to a colleague. It was thrown around whether we wanted a coffee or cappuccino at the end, but more like at a bazaar. I also had the feeling that the staff made the place more like their living room than a guest room. For two people it was 50 euros with one drink each and it was absolutely not worth it. You shouldn't let yourself be blinded by what's beautiful on the outside. It's an absolute tourist trap. Why bother, most people like us come once and never again.

What a disappointment this was, just had something to eat before we went back to the village where we stayed. First a tomato soup and an onion soup, which was more diluted tomato puree and tasteless water with onions in it. Ok that can happen since the place was completely full, I thought the main course would be fine. Everything came at a rapid pace and was just barely thrown at him because the waiters didn't know how quickly they had to go back to the kitchen area. Their hangout, so to speak, there was more interest in each other than in the guests. Everything was unashamedly adjusted, such as apparently underwear that did not fit properly was straightened with the hand in the pants in the restaurant, less than 2 meters away from a table with guests. But a good main course was fish bike, probably from the freezer and fried, completely tasteless. And a mixed Grill of which every piece of meat had been expertly burned and grilled to the sole of the shoe.... we had ordered a bottle of Riesling and since we had to wait for the bus, we drank it on the court, luckily they couldn't ruin anything. This was once but never again

The drinks came quickly. The fries were salty and my omelet had jarred mushrooms. The peppercorns were missing from the pepper steak. Everything was a bit carelessly prepared. Inexpensive, but still too expensive for this meal. A pity

Cozy restaurant. Friendly service. Drinks and food came to the table very quickly. Generous portions, you'll definitely be full. However: only pay in cash. Very clean toilets.

Unfortunately the non-alcoholic wheat was warm. The food tasted bland and more like hobby cuisine. In the end, unfortunately, due to a technical defect, I couldn't use my card, so I had to withdraw cash and, since my house bank wasn't nearby, I was charged another 6 euros in fees.

We each ordered a grilled knuckle with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. What came to the table was a disappointment. The knuckle was simply fried and grilled. The meat was dry and dark. The puree was out of the bag. Not recommendable. You urgently need to change the map. From grilled knuckle to fried knuckle.
