The ambiance is top-notch, with very tasteful decor. A bit of a clash of styles. Absolutely fantastic! The service was very friendly and accommodating. We had North Sea plaice (amazing!), two dry-aged burgers (good!), and one "Wiener-style" schnitzel. The rösti we ordered with it could have used a bit more spice. Otherwise, everything was good. The homemade blackcurrant spritzer is highly recommended! Very tasty! An all-around successful evening!😊

The food is excellent; I had the pollock in beer batter with potato and cucumber salad. The fish was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, just perfect, fantastic :-)

While searching for a decent seafood restaurant, we came across this restaurant. We were seated in the "pagoda tents." The ambiance was very cozy, and the service was excellent. We particularly liked the fact that you had to wait at the entrance, were greeted, and then escorted to your table. The price/performance ratio is absolutely reasonable. Since we went on a Saturday, we made a reservation online in advance.

We had made a reservation and were initially very annoyed that we weren't told we'd be sitting outside in a storm in a tent. It was cold and extremely loud due to the flapping tent canvas. That was really disappointing. The seating arrangements were also poorly planned. At first, the service wasn't exactly friendly, but later on, it suddenly changed. We don't know why. Perhaps the service was also very stressed by this unpleasant solution for guests... The food, however, was excellent and highly recommended. Next time: Be fair to your guests and explain in advance that they don't have to sit outside in the cold in the evening.

My husband and I have eaten at the Altes Sielwärterhaus many times and have always been very satisfied. We will continue to go back, not least because of Andrea's excellent service. Everyone else is super nice, too. We highly recommend the restaurant.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated, as is the outdoor area. The food was okay, but unfortunately, the mousse for dessert was a bit too thick and tasted more like pudding. Service was friendly and sales-oriented. The price-performance ratio was a bit overpriced, especially for the area.

A professionally run restaurant. Frisian specialties are presented in a modern and successful way. Gluten intolerance is catered for by the waiter and chef. Andrea is the soul of the place and is always friendly and accommodating, even at peak times. A successful restoration of an old lock-keeper's house with many wooden elements that exude a warm atmosphere. Make a reservation!

Delicious food and very friendly service. Very child-friendly. When I made the reservation, I indicated that we were coming with a toddler. A high chair was available, and children's cutlery was also provided.

We've been enjoying eating there for years because the service is always good and the food is delicious! We recently went there for a barbecue evening, and it was definitely worth it! There were so many delicious options, from grilled fish, meat, and tofu to salads, vegetables, and desserts! Everything was lovingly prepared, and there was something for everyone. And even as a vegetarian or vegan, there was a huge selection! I highly recommend it; we really enjoyed the evening ☺️

Very friendly service! The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The seasoning was moderate, but you could add more seasoning at the table using salt and pepper. Some of the fried potatoes were left in the pan for too long – a solid standard, but not top-notch. There were no seats left inside, but outside, you could pretty much choose your favorite seat. The furniture was okay, though not all of the chairs/benches were comfortable (but there was enough choice at the table, so the problem was quickly resolved). The tables were covered with clean tablecloths, which were changed after each visit. The restrooms were clean, but very cramped. The price was unfortunately quite high, so a second visit is unlikely.

A very nice, well-maintained restaurant. The food was delicious, and all the staff were very friendly. We got a table right away without a reservation.

Since we didn't have a reservation, we were only seated around a pagoda tent. Unfortunately, it lacked charm and was very drafty due to the windy weather outside. The actual restaurant looked very quaint, cozy, and stylish. The service was extremely friendly. Everything was taken and served quickly. Unfortunately, the plaice meunière was a bit undercooked. It was still rather cool in the middle and undercooked. We really enjoyed the fish selection. Overall, everything was rather sparingly seasoned, but since there were salt and pepper mills on the table, this wasn't a problem.

The homemade yuzu lemonade is excellent, but unfortunately, that's about it. The fish dishes are mediocre and disproportionately expensive. The warm hospitality that you especially want on vacation was sadly missing.

Service was friendly. The atmosphere was clean and comfortably furnished. Unfortunately, the food was not very tasty. The price/performance ratio was not fair. Some of the fried potatoes were not soft, and the children's schnitzel with a tiny piece of stringy meat was far too expensive at €11.90.

Good restaurant. The fish platter was perfect, the schnitzel was delicious, and the fries and fried potatoes were excellent. Fast, very friendly service. However, it's not peak season, so the speed of service is, of course, only a snapshot. One minor criticism is the high drink prices. All in all, a highly recommended restaurant.

Absolute darling! We were in the old Sielwachterhaus yesterday evening and were warmly welcomed by the friendly service. The service was super fast and attentive, our order was taken promptly and the wait was minimal. The food was simply fantastic! We tried the plaice and herring and both dishes were super fresh and delicious. The Frisian cuisine with pep really impressed us. We were particularly impressed by the quality of the ingredients, everything was obviously very fresh and carefully prepared. A highlight was also the schnitzel that we saw at the next table - it looked so delicious that I will definitely try it next time. Overall, we felt at home in the old Sielwachterhaus. The atmosphere was cozy and the service was very friendly. We will definitely come back and can highly recommend the restaurant. 5 stars are definitely deserved!

We ate twice in the "old Sielwachterhaus" during our autumn vacation and were more than thrilled. The ambience is great, the food is delicious and the employees, especially the older lady at the service (may she forgive me if she reads this 🫣) were so nice and absolutely child-friendly. A visit is also possible for wheelchair users (my husband is in a wheelchair and can only get up and walk to a limited extent). The toilets were clean. All in all, we are looking forward to visiting again next year. My daughter found the attention (lollipops, chocolate bars as a farewell) from the lady mentioned above particularly nice. The visit will certainly be remembered fondly for a long time. Thank you for your part in making our vacation a success.

Wow. That best describes our impression. Delicious food, friendly service and the prices are reasonable. We have been coming to Horumersiel more or less regularly for 30 years and have probably missed something for 30 years. Next time we will definitely be here again. A year later we were here again. We can only confirm our last impressions. Only the prices have risen sharply, as is the case in many places.

We ate at the Sielwachterhaus because it was recommended to us. We weren't disappointed. The food was outstanding! Price-performance fits. The service was also perfect. Absolutely recommended.

Although we didn't have a reservation the first time, we still got a small table in the garden. Next time we made reservations online in advance, which was very easy. We can highly recommend the plaice and the Holsteiner schnitzel. Everything was super freshly prepared, nice little menu! As soon as we are in Horumersiel again, we will be happy to come back.

We are here again every year. Top service, very child and family friendly and the food is extremely high quality and delicious. I eat the DryAged Burger every year and love it. The children's menu also offers variety to the typical children's dishes. We'd love to come back next year.

Went there several times on vacation and that's why I can say with certainty: this restaurant is by far the best of all the ones we visited in Horumersiel and the surrounding area. Very tasteful ambience, attentive and personal service and outstandingly good cuisine! That's why I give it a full 5 stars (and I use it very sparingly)! 🐕 Dog friendly. ♿ Barrier-free access (unfortunately I don't know about the toilet).
