We ate there on Mother's Day (May 11, 2025). The asparagus served was very firm, almost raw. Furthermore, both the asparagus and the potatoes were lukewarm. The hollandaise sauce was inedible; it was made with white wine. This additive wasn't declared on the menu. We were given melted butter as a substitute. We were very disappointed with Leuchtfeuer. What a shame...

I can't understand how other reviewers can give this one or two stars. We go to a restaurant to have a delicious meal in a nice atmosphere and good service. And that was the case here. We had reserved in advance and were there with our dog. My wife and I had two asparagus dishes and two variations of tartufo for dessert. Plus an aperitif beforehand and wine with your meal. Everything was super delicious. Many thanks also to the staff for the pleasant hospitality!

The tax office: please keep an eye on it! You ask for the receipt and only receive a so-called advance invoice (it looks like a receipt, but it isn't). Now the cash collected could bypass the tax authorities. No matter how good the food is, it still has a stale taste.

Review for the Horumersiel lighthouse The beacon in Horumersiel is a real insider tip on the North Sea. As soon as you enter the restaurant you can feel the cozy and maritime atmosphere, which fits perfectly with the coastal location. The staff is friendly, attentive and warm - you immediately feel welcome. The menu offers a nice selection of North German specialties, fresh fish and regional ingredients. The location is ideal: with a view of the water or after a walk through the town, the beacon is the perfect place for a break. The price is fair, especially considering the quality of the food and service. Conclusion: If you are in Horumersiel, you should definitely pay a visit to the beacon. A place to feel good and enjoy – absolutely recommended!

Nice, nicely decorated restaurant. A little pricey but worth the money. We were there for dinner, sitting outside under a pavilion with heating. Service was quick, friendly and very funny

Unfortunately disappointing - the bright spot was the service Our visit to the Leuchtfeuer restaurant in Horumersiel today was unfortunately a bitter disappointment. For a dish with half a pound of asparagus (€15.50) and two roasted lamb fillets (€16.50) - a total of €32 - we expected significantly more quality. The portion was quite manageable. After all: the three asparagus spears tasted excellent. The lamb fillets, on the other hand, were unfortunately completely cooked through and very dry - simply disappointing. After we expressed our surprise, the waitress brought a third lamb fillet from the kitchen, which looked and tasted much better - juicy and tender. Why not like that? The service tried hard to save the situation and is definitely positive. Friendly, attentive and eager to make amends. Praise for that. However, the kitchen was not convincing - at least not consistently. Unfortunately, anyone who has to point out quality issues before a dish is worth its price will not come back.

April 21, 2025 On the occasion of our 30th wedding anniversary, we wanted to travel back to the East Frisian North Sea coast and end this special day with a meal in one of our favorite restaurants. We were able to experience this more than successfully today in the “Restaurant Leuchtfeuer Horumersiel”. From the planning last year to today's execution, the service staff provided us with perfect support. From reserving the table to the great occasion-related decoration of the table, it was simply perfect. We were also available to help with further inquiries about how to get to the actual holiday destination of Werdum. So we were able to get a rental car service from Wittmund to chauffeur us safely there and back. Now to the essentials: The reception in the house was very friendly and we were shown to the festively decorated table. The service staff then listened to our every wish. We were recommended an excellent dry white wine and the subsequent menu left nothing to be desired. As a Rhinelander, I later left the wine to my wife and then enjoyed one or two TOP chilled Jever. As always, the food was simply great and we will be back in September to remember how warmly we were welcomed and served here. Thank you for the great evening. Update 2024: Still TOP. A waiter who knows his trade and is ready to have fun for young and old. Keep it up. Absolutely recommended. Nice atmosphere, super friendly staff. Varied menu at reasonable prices. Best to reserve. Very friendly, attentive staff, a clear menu, from the starters to the dessert everything was very tasty and freshly prepared. The restaurant is in the middle of town, it has an outdoor area, a restaurant and a separate dining room. We returned there after a long time and will now be happy to see you there again and again.

We were there with four adults and 5 children. The outside area was very nice, the service was very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious! The fish platter was on point. The children's plates were very generous and, according to the accompaniment, the asparagus salad was also delicious. We can only recommend the restaurant.

Great service and great food. We went to the restaurant for dinner with 4 adults and a baby. Shortly before the food arrived, the child became a little restless and was then pushed around in the stroller in an area where there were no guests. When the food came, the waitress even offered to push the stroller so we could all eat. We politely declined and the food was kept warm. A really very friendly and customer-oriented service. In general, everyone was very friendly and extremely committed. The food was very tasty and the price was really good. We would love to come back on our next vacation.

That was probably nothing. We were hungry for a delicious schnitzel with fried potatoes. And then we returned to the beacon full of expectations. The service was very polite and nice. The atmosphere was cozy, but when the food came we were a bit confused. We're not the kind of eaters who expect quantities, but for a schnitzel with fried potatoes that costs over €20, you can expect a little more. But what was really not good in our opinion was the entire meal. When the food was served, everything was swimming in grease. The fried potatoes were so greasy that they couldn't be fried until crispy. The same with the schnitzel. In short… If you like greasy and wobbly food, this is the place for you. Unfortunately, the whole fun cost €60 including drinks... which isn't really a problem, but unfortunately it wasn't for that. The waitress offered us a drink, but we politely declined.

The Leuchtfeuer restaurant is a really cozy, beautiful restaurant with a great ambience. The service is very friendly and accommodating. The drinks are at the table quickly and the food is on point. The made herb quark with the foil potatoes is also very, very tasty. It was a bit of a shame that the mussels are currently not available. Therefore a star deduction for the food. Otherwise, all in all a very nice restaurant and a real recommendation. We'd love to come back!

Ordered the Champion Schnitzel to take away. The schnitzel was really small. It wasn't even 100g. You couldn't really eat the champions. Some were woody. For €22 you can really expect more.

We had already made a reservation here before our vacation and didn't regret it. We were warmly welcomed and shown to the table. The service was there quickly and took the drinks. After we had placed our order, we didn't have to wait long for the starter, the three types of bruschetta were very tasty and the attentive lady from the service quickly brought a small plate so that my wife could try it too. We reserved a table for four people on Saturday. We have visited the restaurant several times. When we arrived there on Sunday, we got a table in the restaurant. You have to imagine this like a pub where you can have a beer after work with football on TV and a slot machine. The existing nice restaurant was empty. So we were forced to watch the TV while we ate. About the food: We ordered 2x kale, 1x ox cheeks, 1x bowl. Apart from the beautifully presented and delicious bowl, the presentation of the food was in no way what we are used to. The slabs of kale were so small that it was hardly possible to cut the meat or sausage and eat it in a cultured manner. The cabbage was only warm and the potatoes weren't hot either. In addition, the potatoes were not very appealing. The whole thing was far from appetizing. The cheeks were good but the Mediterranean vegetables served with them were also disappointing. The serving was also poor here. The price/performance ratio wasn't right this time. From previous times we know a place in the restaurant, professional service and beautifully presented, tasty and hot food. An older couple was eating at the same time as us. They complained about their food. The waitress didn't understand what it was about... I'll give the place another chance. Maybe we just had a bad day. The Schröder family from Leer

Unfortunately sat in the "racetrack", service was nice, but there was a lack of attention. When we ate, the so-called fried potatoes were simply thrown into the deep fryer... that's not possible. The beans were bacon with some beans. Price performance doesn't match... unfortunately

We visited the Leuchtfeuer restaurant twice within 6 days. The food is plentiful and very tasty. The guest room is very comfortable and modernly furnished. And the service staff, who are very attentive and friendly, should be highlighted. Especially on the last visit there was a young waiter (I think his name is Jens) who always had a funny saying on his lips 👍😀. Keep it up, we'll be back.

What I think is really nice is that the table is decorated to match the specified theme. The restaurant has a very unique decoration, but overall it is quite cozy. Unfortunately, I chose a meal that I didn't like at all. So I personally can't give a good rating for the food. The service was OK, it would be nice if the employees looked left and right every now and then to see if guests had any additional requests. You had to wait a long time to get attention for orders. Personally, I wouldn't eat there again.

We were warmly welcomed even without a reservation. There was only room outside in November, but the gas stoves were lit for us. Everything was great.

We spent a wonderful evening there. The ambience and service was great. Drinks were regularly asked for and wine was poured. My grandmother also felt very comfortable. What was special was that even the waitress who hadn't taken the order knew who had ordered which dish. The food was well made and the menu includes everything from fish, meat and veggies. Special feature: The menus are digital and are served via iPad. Very sustainable and environmentally friendly. I also really enjoyed the pork fillet. All in all a perfect evening, you couldn't wish for a better restaurant visit.

After being so excited yesterday, we decided to eat here again today. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, the service was very friendly, courteous and attentive and the food was also very good both times. Our dog was also welcome. The only small drawback: We had reserved the same table for today as yesterday because it was perfect for us with a dog, but unfortunately this didn't work out despite being promised. The restaurant is located in the middle of town and has its own parking spaces directly at the restaurant. The interior is very tastefully and comfortably designed, the food was excellent, the price-performance ratio was right, and the service staff were very friendly. We'd love to come back.

Service und Essen war sehr gut. Nur die Karte in Form eines Tablets ist ungünstig. Weil nur durch Zufall die anderen Karten gefunden wurden (Getränke, Dessert...) Der Kellner hatte uns nur die Hauptspeisekarte geöffnet aber von den anderen nichts gesagt.

Ein gelungener Abschluss vom Urlaub in Horumersiel. Da durfte es auch noch ein Nachtisch sein. Leider ohne Foto. Dafür aber vom leckeren Lillet!

I expected more, I was missing that certain something, maybe just a little something. E.g. The schnitzel was on the mushrooms, which meant it was soggy from below and it wasn't crispy in the breading. The fried potatoes/triplets aren't bad, they're missing that certain something. The dessert, variations was good. The service/ young man really good.

Central location and very busy during typical holiday periods. Seating is available outside and inside, reservations are recommended but not mandatory. Friendly and attentive staff, a good (digital) menu and prices that you should approach consciously as a family. The dishes we chose were generous and tasty (the fries could have been a little more, but that's a matter of taste), including the starter, we spent just over two hours there for dinner. The breaks in between were a little long for us, but the restaurant and the terrace were very full at the time. The waiter was always present and always had a good-humored saying on his lips. We will certainly come again.

Maybe we had a bad day, it was very crowded, which of course is almost always the case on weekends, so we made reservations 10 days in advance for 5 adults and 3 small children and at 5:30 p.m. so that we and the children could eat very quickly Come because with small children you are somewhat limited by the time. The starters and children's meals came very quickly after we ordered, unfortunately the main course took a very long time, which is why we asked in a friendly manner how long it would take and unfortunately only got a short answer from the waiter: "If you take a starter it will take a while." It just takes longer." Of course it's okay for us if the house is full that you have to wait longer, but unfortunately the way was not explained in a very friendly way. After almost an hour after the starter, the main course arrived, but unfortunately that wasn't the case The first three people in the group had already started their journey home (tired toddlers so as not to disturb the rest of the restaurant guests) due to the long waiting times. They could perhaps have simply communicated in advance that it would unfortunately take a little longer today due to the full house, but unfortunately it happened Nothing of the same. Unfortunately, our drinks came in stages or were forgotten because they were lost, which was what the waitress said without an apology. Everything is human but you can only help speaking people. Well, the end of the song was an unfortunately not so nice evening at the end of the holiday, which in the end we only spent the two of us in the restaurant because everyone had to leave one after the other with something to eat or just packed and taken with us. Unfortunately, at the end we were a bit rude from the waitress as well as from a couple at the neighboring table who probably don't like children. They asked us why we would even go out to eat with children and that they didn't have to rely on us as guests, but that came from the neighboring table and not from the service. It's a shame that it had to be that way, it may have simply been a bad day, but as a guest who is staying there with tomorrow's guests, I personally wish I had a different approach. At the end we had a very good conversation with another employee who took the time to listen to us and defuse the situation, which we thought was very good in retrospect. Of course we are all human and not flawless, but a certain level of interaction is still very important, especially towards the guests of tomorrow.

We ate here several times during our vacation. Something different every time, but everything is highly recommended, both in terms of how it is prepared and in terms of taste. Everyone was satisfied every time. This restaurant has a special ambience. You feel comfortable here throughout your entire stay. The staff is very friendly and attentive. At the counter you can even hear the original North German dialect during conversations. Conclusion: We will come back on our next vacation.

An sich ein wirklich schönes Restaurant. Man kann dort eigentlich gemütlich sitzen. Wir hatten einen Sitzplatz direkt im Gang. Wir hatten den Tisch reserviert und es waren auch noch andere Tische frei. Auf unsere Nachfrage, ob wir uns umsetzen dürfen wurde uns mitgeteilt die Tische seien reserviert. Unser Tisch war auch reserviert. Das Problem habe ich nicht verstanden. Das Restaurant war ausgebucht und es war extrem laut. Auf die Frage, nach der Getränkekarte wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass es keine geben würde. Auch auf die Nachfrage, was sie denn anbieten würden, wurde nur gesagt alles. Preise und die Auswahl konnte man also nicht einsehen und musste quasi auf gut Glück bestellen. Der Kellner mit den locken ist wirklich extrem unfreundlich. Kann natürlich auch an der Art liegen aber wir waren auch woanders essen und es hat uns vom Service her deutlich besser gefallen. Die Speisekarte ist toll. Wirklich eine große Auswahl. Schade, dass der Service leider eine Katastrophe ist. Wir haben Schweinefilet bestellt und dies war sooo trocken, dass man es trotz Soße kaum runter bekommen hat. Wobei man anmerken muss, dass der Teller gut aussah. Aber das kann natürlich auch nicht alles sein. An der Tür stand ein Wassernapf für Hunde. Wir wollten diesen kurz nehmen und unserem Hund etwas zu trinken anbieten. Dies hat der Kellner bemerkt und wir wurden noch blöd von der Seite angemacht. Der solle da stehen bleiben. Selbstverständlich hätten wir diesen wieder zurück gebracht. Alles in allem wirklich schade, dass der Service so schlecht ist. Ansonsten wäre es ein sehr schönes Restaurant. Aber wenn man so schlecht bedient wird, hat man auch schon keinen Hunger mehr. Ich kann das Restaurant daher leider nicht weiterempfehlen! Es sei denn der Kellner wird ausgetauscht.
