Wertheimer Burg in Wertheim

I reserved a table for two people for August 21, 2025, with confirmation over the phone. Upon arrival, I was disappointed... No notes, nothing available. A joke. The waiters were completely unemotional, half-hearted, and clueless. Thank you for the lovely evening.

The food and the location are excellent. The setting, panorama, and view are fantastic.

Really good food! We had shrimp with vegetables as a starter and schnitzel or a pepper steak as a main course. Good meat and perfectly prepared!

July 2025 We had a delicious meal, huge portions at great prices. We had the Beilagesalat (fried salad), the Franconian Bratwurst with sauerkraut, bread, and mustard, the Potato Salad, Gemischtes Eis (a type of ice cream), and the Apfelkügle (apple cake). Everything was perfect, and the beer was good too. We were lucky with the service: our waitress was very friendly, fun, and didn't forget us despite the crowd. We noticed this wasn't the case with the other waitstaff. The location is beautiful, and like many places on the Romantic Road, the price isn't higher because of the location.

We had just been there and were actually planning to eat there. The waiters ignored us for 15 minutes. After that, we decided to leave the beer garden.

Unfortunately, the access was very difficult for people with disabilities, so we unfortunately had to turn back.

We arrived at the top of the castle and were very disappointed 😞. There was a sign saying "Private Party." When we asked if we could get a drink, we were told no. The landlady didn't even bother to get up. She sat glumly in front of the entrance. We were then told that a reservation was necessary. (Even for a spontaneous decision???) A sign indicating that the party was private at the entrance to the castle would have been appropriate. You might think it's exaggerated, but the tone is what matters, and it was unfriendly. On the way down, we met a few people who were just as disappointed as we were.

Delicious food, nice ambience, only criticism was that our waiter wasn't really friendly!

The short, steep climb is well worth it. We were here in beautiful weather and enjoyed a simple (but good) meal. The food was fresh and arrived hot. The staff was friendly and were able to accommodate our requests.

The ambiance was very nice, and the service was very friendly and quick. The food was excellent, but the tagliatelle with zucchini and Parmesan breading was a bit underseasoned, and the tomato sauce wasn't particularly tasty—rather watery, so it could be improved. Otherwise, everything was excellent. I'd go back.

The food is really delicious and reasonable for the price! It's nice to sit and the atmosphere is very pleasant. The food came really quickly and was fresh. Service was also very nice and quick. Highly recommended after visiting the castle!

We had a salad and the schnitzel. Both super tasty, the salad only made with fresh ingredients, nothing from a can, the dressing was delicious and in the right amount. Super. The staff at this restaurant seem to believe that because it is the only restaurant within Burg Wertheim they can treat guests however they please. The “Wertheimer Burg” restaurant should understand that the customer is king and must be treated accordingly. I would like to tell you about my unusual experience: On September 28th, 2024, after my family and I finished shopping in Wertheim Village, we went to the “Wertheimer Burg” restaurant for lunch. After leaving our car in the parking lot, we walked about 7-9 minutes to the restaurant. The first waiter we met informed us that there was a wedding going on inside, but that we could sit wherever we wanted outside on the terrace, which was almost empty. After we found a seat, another waiter came towards us, who seemed to be the owner of the restaurant, as his behavior was very arrogant, and a waiter is not allowed to behave like that towards guests. He told us that we couldn't sit where we chose. We were then forced to leave the restaurant as we felt extremely uncomfortable. There are many good restaurants in this wonderful town of Wertheim and we decided to have lunch at another restaurant. I would like to share this experience with everyone who visits this restaurant to make the management of this place aware that in business the customer is king and not the staff.

Super great restaurant. I didn't eat but the menu reads well. The employees are friendly, nice and quick. The ambience is simply wonderful with the view. Gladly again.

What can I say, we ordered for two people and wanted to have a nice evening. In the end we sat at the table with others. When I asked what that meant, all I got were clumsy statements like sit or go. My clothing wanted to order zander, which was no longer on the main menu, so I decided on something else and then had to wait half an hour for it. I had pork loin that was very dry. For the price it could be different The only good thing was the view around Wertheim.

We were here for dinner. Everything was perfect. - - -The quality of the food is very good -The location is top at the castle with a perfect view. -The staff was very helpful, especially with my best friend who is currently in a wheelchair. Can be recommended 100%.

After an absolutely doable climb up to Wertheim Castle and a walk around the old castle walls, you can enjoy cold drinks and really delicious food in the shade of many parasols. Above all, the team is really very nice and accommodating, the menu offers plenty of choice and the ambience and the view are simply unique. There's something so peaceful and cozy about the forecourt of the castle, which looms over the city. Thank you for the good service and the great hospitality.

Top location, with the best view, cuisine and service. We spontaneously went to Wertheim for a day and decided to spend an evening at the castle. There was live music and very good food. The pyre steak was absolutely delicious, I wanted to lick the pan :) Service was great and we were even assigned a great seat without a reservation. If you like to take a walk to digest your food, you shouldn't miss the tour of the castle. There are again great views and impressions. Even the keep is accessible. If the opportunity arises, we would be happy to come back.

The restaurant at Wertheimer Burg is highly recommended! It's very comfortable to sit inside and outside, although depending on the space you can still enjoy the view over part of the city outside. The menu has a really good selection of dishes. Everyone will find something for themselves here. Prices are slightly above mid-range, but the food is worth it. So far, everyone I've ever been there with has enjoyed it remarkably well. That's still the best recommendation. The staff is very attentive and friendly and responds to requests for the dishes on offer. A good place to fortify yourself after visiting the castle.

Unfortunately, the service doesn't live up to the promise of the great view. After the wonderful children's opera “Abduction from the Seraglio” at the Würzburg Mozart Festival, we and the children were escorted out of the beer garden in an unfriendly manner after we dared to sit at a reserved table that was not marked as such. The request to provide us with another table was rudely rejected with the comment “you should sit down where there was no reservation”. A pity. So it's not always because of the VAT.

The food is really high quality and the sauce for the steak as well as the meat itself are very well coordinated and tasteful, the service ambience rounds off a perfect rating

Great views of the valley and good food in this interesting location. I had the Schweitzer Wurstsalat which was pretty good, but the vinaigrette was a bit weak. My wife enjoyed pepper garlic cream soup that was quite good. We finished off with Apfelstrudel with vanilla sauce, which was also good.

I am only reviewing my visit to the castle restaurant here: I have known this restaurant for many years now and we have eaten there several times, both for business and pleasure. The food used to be always very tasty and of good quality. This time, however, I was unfortunately disappointed on my first visit in a long time: - Prices have risen rapidly (Corona doesn't justify everything...) - Beer is cheaper than soft drinks. However, cheap is the wrong expression; the drinks are consistently expensive. - My steak (200 g) was, contrary to the full-bodied claim on the menu, by no means a treat, but rather a bit tough and also too well-done for medium. - The spaetzle was heavy on my stomach throughout the afternoon and into the evening. Apparently they were heavily tossed in fat or in butter or something similar. - For the high price (over 26 EUR), the 200 g steak doesn't even come with a salad, which would have cost an extra charge. - A companion's fillet tips were also fried to death. - Another companion's pikeperch was also fried for far too long. My conclusion for this visit: Unfortunately, the quality of the restaurant has deteriorated greatly and, to make matters worse, the prices have risen to a level that makes me refrain from visiting again. I assume that this won't hurt the operator because the castle is of course a fantastic location for tourists due to the brilliant view and ambience. But for me the issue is now over. There are also other restaurants in Wertheim that were previously considered high-priced, but are now even cheaper and, above all, much better compared to the castle. Of course, this is just my personal opinion, so everyone is welcome to see for themselves. It's a shame actually. Edit 04/2024: And now a request for deletion after two years claiming that this was a fake review?? Honest? That's very disappointing!

Nice restaurant… we were there for an event. If only it weren't for the walk up... but it's worth it and the view is wonderful... I'd be happy to do it again...

Wollten heute das Burg Restaurant besuchen und haben vorher angerufen . Wir sind den ganzen Berg hoch gelaufen nur das man uns dann sagt das da eine geschlossene Veranstaltung ist und im Vorzimmer essen könnten . Also entschuldigen Sie bitte eine so leblosen gestaltete Halle mit Bahnhofsflair auf dem Blick in die Küche!! Nein danke . Schade echt . Dann wären wir lieber gerne ein anderes Mal gekommen .Punkt.

Top Lage aber nur unterdurchschnittliches Essen in der Preislage: Fleischqualität (Schweinelende in meinem Fall) ist eher schlecht - zäh, wässrig, kaum Geschmack. Pommes werden einfach in die Soße gelegt - kommen matschig an den Tisch. Schönes Anrichten in Gusseisenpfanne hilft dann leider auch nicht weiter. Die Rahm-Soße zu wässrig. Nudel statt Pommes bei Kindergerichten nur mit Aufpreis - unschön für die mini Portion. Stilles Wasser nicht zu haben. Service ist ok, keinesfalls gut. Komme ich wieder? Für die Burg jederzeit, für das Essen nicht mehr.

Kurzer steiler Fußweg zur Burg vom Parkplatz oder Parkhaus aus.Das Essen und der Service waren sehr gut. Man speist in einem großen Saal , mit moderner Beleuchtung, die das gemäuer gut zur Geltung kommen lässt. Jedoch ist die Geräuschkulisse bei vollem Saal evtl schwierig zu bewerten für Menschen mit hörbehinderung oder Konzentrationsproblemen. Wir waren dennoch zweimal dort und würden es weiterempfehlen. Der Salat mit den Garnelen war wirklich so groß, dass er eine Hauptspeise ersetzt 😃

Normalerweise hätte ich typische Touriküche erwartet, aber weit gefehlt und mehr als positiv überrascht. Das Steak (medium) absolut auf Punkt gebraten und geschmacklich ohne Fehl und Tadel. Eins der besten Steaks die ich seit langer Zeit gegessen habe. Auch das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis absolut im normalen Bereich. Dazu noch freundliches und flottes Personal sowie das tolle Ambiente im Burghof mit Blick auf Wertheim machen einen Besuch zum absoluten Favoriten. Hier war ich definitiv nicht zum letzten Mal.

Sehr leckeres Essen, war auch schnell da. Personal ist sehr freundlich. Die Aussicht ist top. Nur zu empfehlen

Der Ausblick von der Terrasse ist sehr schön. Das Essen sieht gut und schmackhaft aus. Leider waren meine Käsespätzle nicht so gut. Das Personal ist teilweise sehr freundlich. Nur ein junger Mann schien sehr gestresst zu sein und wollte uns nicht an einem Tisch platzieren lassen. Der Tisch war für 19h reserviert und wir waren um 17h da.....Wir hatten 2 Stunden. Konnten in Ruhe essen und selbst als wir um 18:55 zahlten, waren unsere Nachfolger noch gar nicht da.....

Das Restaurant ist eine klare Empfehlung, an jeden der gutes Essen und einen tollen Ausblick schätzt. Wir haben außerdem den schnellen und freundlichen Service sowie den absolut fairen Preis geschätzt.

Wir hatten unsere Freie Trauung auf der Burg Wertheim und es hätte nicht besser laufen können. Bereits im Vorhinein stand uns Frau Bayerlein bei jeder Frage mit Rat und Tat zur Seite. An alle Themen wurde super unkompliziert und pragmatisch ran gegangen. Am Tag selbst hat man gemerkt: Hier sind Profis am Werk! Von der unkomplizierten Versorgung mit Wasser für die Gäste im Vorhinein bis zu den klasse Häppchen (die wirklich gscheid belegt sind :) ) danach, hat alles klasse geklappt. Essen und Getränke waren super. Auch im Nachgang ging alles fix und unkompliziert. Wir sind sehr glücklich hier unsere Trauung gehabt zu haben und kommen gerne zum Essen wieder.

An dem Weihnachtsfeiertag gibt es kein kindgerechte essen aber man findet für jeden was 👍🏻

Absolut brilliantes Essen, aber auch dementsprechende Preise. Wird auch gerne von Firmen und Kunden der umliegenden Technologie Firmen genutzt. Das Essen ist den Preis durchaus gerechtfertigt den hier wird der Kunde nicht abgefertigt sondern es wird wirklich gekocht.

Wir haben unsere Hochzeit auf der Burg Wertheim gefeiert und können das jedem nur wärmstens empfehlen! Es war wunderbar organisiert und wir konnten uns mit unseren Fragen jederzeit an das Team wenden. Das Essen war fantastisch und wurde von jedem Gast gelobt. Das Team und der Service waren grandios. Selbst bei so vielen Gästen war zu jeder Zeit ein Lächeln auf den Lippen und uns wurde jeder Wunsch sofort erfüllt. Das Ambiente des wunderschönen Saals und der Burg im Allgemeinen ist sowieso phänomenal. Alle Gäste waren restlos begeistert - liebes Team des Restaurants Burg Wertheim: vielen, vielen Dank, dass ihr geholfen habt, unseren Tag zum schönsten unseres Lebens zu machen! Fotos folgen noch.

Die Bedienung wurde vor den Gästen unnötig vom Chef getadelt. Das ist mir negativ aufgefallen!

Wir sind abends auf die Burg hochgelaufen und sind spontan dort im Restaurant eingekehrt. Wir waren froh noch einen Tisch zu bekommen, da es sehr gut besucht war. Das Essen war sehr lecker dort. Die Auswahl an Speisen ist sehr gut. Die Servicekräfte waren alle sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Das Ambiente dort in den Abendstunden war einfach toll. Ein Besuch hier lohnt sich immer.
