I don't understand how the last 1-star review came about. They must have been at the wrong restaurant. Lunch dishes? Early afternoon? This person must have experienced a completely different concept. This restaurant is miles away from fried fish and chips, just as this reviewer, a so-called "local guide," is from reality...
In any case, we had an unforgettable and successful evening last week! A wonderful reinterpretation of Mr. Stolle's North German cuisine with slight international influences. Every dish was top-notch in flavor and expressively seasoned. The young lady was very kind and, above all, welcoming, and the young gentleman impressed us with his expertise and exceptional and matching wines.
This was definitely not our last visit!
We tried the lunch menu. It was extremely disappointing! I understand that they want to offer a cheap lunch. But I can't understand why the quality of the food is extremely bad and no longer pay attention to the standard. Risotto cooked hard, still too runny, salt missing. Steak, fish tastes like nothing, hardly seasoned. Overall, the entire meal unfortunately had no taste.
We expected something more…
We celebrated our wedding here in 2017 and we have wonderful memories.
Note to owners: The parking spaces are monitored by Mobility and the signs are very small. We overlooked them on our last visit and received a payment request of €53 a few days later.
Food ok but price-performance ratio questionable!!! Bad service, wine for one person at a table for 6 was forgotten and it wasn't noticed even after 2 courses, a waitress who doesn't understand German well and therefore doesn't bill properly, serving mat for getting started was flimsy, plates no longer in good condition (already have small cracks and signs of wear), no one really takes the customer's needs into account, bread couldn't be refilled, GF leaves earlier than everyone else, toilets are also no longer in good condition, service is too quick, overall not very high quality and service is not at all star quality!
Two aging women from the left bank of the Rhine wanted to have a nice Easter Sunday. When we were young, the Dipeschrath mill was a popular day trip for the whole family. Then you still traveled with the KVB. Unfortunately the food was a disgrace. We had to wait for well over an hour. The beer was stale and stale. The schnitzel was dry and carelessly prepared. The fish was unsightly, limp and everything was totally over salted. We complained to the boss. There was no apology other than, “I’m sorry.” No reputation for a star chef!!!
Of course, here's the review, revised in a more critical tone:
Mother's Day Brunch - Big Disappointment
Unfortunately, the lovely atmosphere couldn't disguise the numerous shortcomings. It was promised in advance that there would be a barbecue if the weather was good – but with a bright blue sky and 25 degrees Celsius, we waited in vain for the grill. Instead, the meat was served only in a lackluster noodle dish, reminiscent of a Chinese restaurant. Two chefs struggled to prepare hot dishes, each with a pan – a completely inadequate solution that led to long queues. The wait staff seemed overwhelmed and disorganized. Overall, the whole thing seemed poorly planned and far from what one would expect for a special occasion like Mother's Day. Very disappointing.
That evening there were four of us out and about and since there was a reason to celebrate, we spontaneously asked at the Zwickelstube in Freiburg. They actually had a table for four available the day before the desired date. The Zwürstube has cooked its way back to Guild Michelin heaven, so I was excited. The food was very good. The craftsmanship is more than good but the taste is not outstanding. Unfortunately, the service was overwhelmed and there were simply not enough trained staff at the start. Although I'm already Generation X, we were still real youngsters compared to all the other guests. The atmosphere was rather dignified and somewhat old-fashioned.
My wife and I enjoyed a delicious lunch with an incredible view.
Herbert knows exactly what he is doing - I have never tasted such a delicious veal schnitzel with lemon and cranberry sauce before.
And the fried potatoes with bacon were simply unbeatable.
An absolute highlight!
If you want something special - this is the right place for you.
Service and atmosphere TOP!
The prices are fair. We are completely satisfied. Clear recommendation!
