An excellent address in Oberbergen for culinary food and stylish overnight stays in the middle of the Kaiserstuhl, not far from Breisach in the west and Freiburg in the east. The area is rural, but characterized through and through by viticulture. Franz Keller is the cook and patron, his brother Fritz Keller was president of SC Freiburg for a long time and then also DFB president for two years. In this respect, many well-known and illustrious guests are of course visitors to the house - as numerous photos on the walls show. Due to long traffic jams, an alternative route took us through the Kaiserstuhl directly past the Black Eagle at around 2 p.m. on Easter Monday. We decided to stop at the spur of the moment and even though the kitchen was actually closed, we got some delicious delicacies accompanied by an eighth of Sauvignon and a ripe Pinot Blanc with a slight barrique note (to go with the French cheese). The wines from our own vineyard and of course all with excellent service. A little detour that was very worth it.

There's little to write about: The restaurant is absolutely top class. Varied menu. Excellent food. Varied menu. Very nice wines/wine list. Ambitious, careful and at the same time courteous, discreet service. The Michelin star rightly shines here. Associated hotel/room: Small rooms, clean and tidy, tastefully decorated. All in all: harmonious and pleasant. Gladly again.

This was definitely more than just a dinner but more of a real experience. I went there with my husband and every dish surprised us, full of flavor and super creative. The service was top: very friendly, attentive and unobtrusive. A special extra was that you could watch how the dishes were prepared - something you don't do everywhere. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, cozy and stylish. For us it was a completely successful evening, absolutely at Michelin level.

This one is a bit hard to find with current construction on the hotel, but it is open. We had a lovely meal here. The beef tartar was fantastic. They prepare it at the table to your liking. The lobster pasta was pretty inedible, but the fish was fantastic. They brought out chocolate truffles at the end as well which was a great touch.

es tut mir sehr leid, aber schlechter geht nicht.service ok, ambiente nicht für jeden ein augenschmaus. aber was mir hier aufgetischt wurde, würde ich selbst in jeder frittenbude bemängeln. reh aus heimischen wäldern...unfassbar. könnte ein bild veröffentlichen, aber es würde keiner glauben doch. hab mich dazu entschlossen. es gab übrigens zwei pappdeckel dieser art in der größe von 8 x 8 cm. achso, das, was vor dem angeschnittenen stück irgendwas liegt war ein angerösteter apfel, der höhepunkt des fürstlichen mahles..zwei stücke paniertes irgendwas, nicht mehr als 120 gramm, durchgebraten, dass es außen wegen dem triefenden fett, gott sei dank nur eine seite, die andere war bleich, wie die späzle, saftiger war als innen. so etwas zum tisch zu bringen war eine frechheit! auch der service sollte augen dafür haben. es ist mir inzwischen müßig, dies zu reklamieren, weil der notwendige anstand wegen einer kritk beim personal nicht mehr gegeben ist. dass dieser laden mit eletärem und wirklich tollem publikum gefüllt war, ist mir ein rätsel. aber das personal war stets bemüht.... hatte aber gegen diese küchenleistung keinerlei chance. unfassbar

The Dorfstuben is a highly recommended restaurant. We were able to enjoy a very tasty lunch in the “uhrenstube”, a small (in a positive sense), cozy room. Typical Baden-Swabian dishes of a very high standard are offered. We particularly liked that the butter was served separately with the blue trout. The service is very attentive and friendly. We were there recently for the first time, but certainly not the last. When the weather is nice, you should also take a walk through the beautiful, park-like outdoor area.

Wat een heerlijke eetervaring. Het tasting menu is echt een aanrader, uitgebalanceerde smaken, verrassende combinaties. Zeer aanbevelenswaardig is het wijn arrangement erbij te nemen. Zeer goed uitgebalanceerd met de diverse gangen en het tot een nog groter feestje maakt.

They say you shouldn't celebrate the new too much before you've properly digested the old. But in the case of Restaurant 1789, I throw this wise principle overboard - with the same elegance with which a plate is served there. It is a culinary state act – a sensual ceremony on porcelain. The kitchen? Modern, yes. Innovative, certainly. But it's so sophisticated and subtle that you almost think the chef has been secretly studying in the Far East, with a wok in one hand and a microscope in the other. Asian influences dance lightly across the palate, embedded in a European attitude, garnished with a pinch of daring. Well, it wouldn't be honest if I didn't mention that a visit there isn't exactly like a stroll through a weekly market - more like a trip to the opera house of culinary delights. With entrance fee. But if you value quality, creativity and a little theater on your plate, you won't regret your visit. In short: If you have taste, courage and a good pair of shoes - because this menu will take you far away inside - you should definitely visit 1789. And to those who shy away from the price, this is what I say: “You can’t expect a masterpiece and only pay for a sketchbook.”

Great food with outstanding service. The menus and wines are really fun

Absolutely excellent menu. It's easy to understand why it has two stars. Wine accompaniment harmonized perfectly with the dishes. The finest ingredients perfectly prepared. Of course it's not a bargain in terms of price. Very good wine list, but in my opinion there could also be a few cheaper bottles on it.

A definite recommendation for a day at the day spa. Beautiful wellness area, landscape, infinity pool, and saunas. Lunch is also delicious. Very courteous and helpful staff!

As a vegetarian, I've rarely had such a well-seasoned and wonderfully spiced meal. The flavors of the basic ingredients harmonize wonderfully with the combined spices. There's a vegetarian menu, which I wasn't aware of before. Just ask! The wine list is fantastic. Such great wines by the glass are rare, and the bottles and accompanying wines are expertly selected. The service staff are extremely friendly and always on hand with advice and expertise. Thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable evening. 😍
