The food is really tasty. Definitely a place to try out. When we went, the place was a bit empty and service was a bit slow. The food was really delicious and was priced well. Definitely a place to visit.
Note: This review refers to the previous establishment, "Schwarzer Bär" (Black Bear) – now with a new concept and new owner.
Here, simple but very inexpensive, good, and down-to-earth cuisine was served by an extremely warm and welcoming owner.
The Schwarzer Bär is an institution, run by the owner, Kosta, his German wife as the cook, and his assistant, Jorgos, who serves customers every day. You immediately feel at home at the Schwarzer Bär.
The decor is dated, and the smell of frying oil is a bit too strong inside, but the atmosphere is incredibly welcoming, and the food is good and extremely inexpensive.
They offer a wide selection of German (Franconian) and Greek dishes. The food is typical of home-style cooking – simple but delicious. The prices are unbeatable.
The reason I keep coming back, however, is the staff, whose refreshing friendliness instantly won me over.
The prices, for which the operator isn't responsible, are outrageous. Many thanks to the wonderful German government for not allowing a hard-working citizen and taxpayer to treat themselves 👍💪 for almost €20 for a gyro... is that even possible?!🤷♂️
We had reserved a table for three people three weeks in advance, only to end up alone in a remote corner of an annex – simply unacceptable.
The service was very helpful and friendly, but the rude and arrogant owner refused to seat the three of us at a table for four in the main area.
The food was very good, but the portions were far too small for the relatively high price.
After the (highly recommended) cabaret show with Sigi Zimmerschied in the same building, we stayed for a drink, but the cocktails weren't particularly good.
We're giving the stars for the very friendly service. If the owner were different, or if his poor organization and the food were more in line with the price, we would gladly eat there again.
However, we will certainly be happy to return to Sigi Zimmerschied's cabaret show.
The food tasted very good, but there could have been a bit more for the price, especially the fries. Otherwise, the place is very nicely decorated, cozy, and the staff is very friendly.
On our way back from vacation, we spontaneously got a table for two at the pizzeria.
The wait for our food (one appetizer, one pizza, and one pasta dish) was quite short. The service could have been friendlier and more attentive. The portions were generous.
The pizza was huge, so I couldn't finish it and asked for it to be packed up. I was surprised when they charged me €0.50 for it—without mentioning this beforehand—and it wasn't a pizza box, but a lunch bag.
I can understand this kind of practice if you order the pizza to go, but not if you eat it in and the bill is correspondingly high. This isn't what I call Italian hospitality!
This is our second visit to this beautiful site. Last year, the Seehaus was still closed, but this year, with limited opening hours and a relatively simple menu, it's a real asset to the site. The food was excellent, the service was excellent, and we were pleasantly surprised. The Kaiserschmarren (smothered pancakes) is amazing. We definitely recommend it.
The room was beautiful and had everything we needed for our stay. I could tell really easily that someone put a lot of love and skill in the design.
The temperature inside the room was perfect and the breakfast was delicious (though it didn't have enough options, so that could be improved).
There was one thing I didn't like: they called the phone in our room less than 10 minutes after the check-out time, and would have asked for an extra fee if we were late. Luckily, we heard it ringing from the hallway and could get to the front desk in time. I believe 30 extra minutes would be more elegant.
Great food, the beef burger, the pull beef and the chicken are cook to perfection, tender to the bite and juicy on each subsequent bite.
Service was great and they do come and talk and ask for feedbacks.
Only complain is the lighting can be better for reading the menus.
