Schnitzel was very good and inexpensive

Never have I had a bad steak in Germany until I visited this place. Waited for 15 mins to get a drink, the waiter didn’t seem interested and was blunt. We had eaten in another restaurant close by the day before and it wasn’t a steakhouse but I had a steak and it was one of the best I’ve ever had, the whole meal was delicious. I was expecting great things from Block as it specialises in steaks but what a let down, it was the worst steak I’ve ever had. I ordered a larger steak than the one I had the previous night yet it was half the size and it was the same cut. It was tough and chewy and really bad, I complained to the manager who wasn’t really interested and said it was probably a bad piece of meat and unfortunately these things happen, he did offer a free drink but I think we were given the poor steaks because we are from the UK and brits in general don’t complain. I would never go back again. I think being a chain restaurant, it’s a case of ship them in and ship them out as fast as you can with not much consideration for the customer. My advice would be save your money and go else where to an independent restaurant!

Good steak, fun atmosphere and great service

I've always wanted to go to a steakhouse and enjoy a piece of meat once in my life, which you don't get to do very often in your life. At least not from a financial perspective. So we entered the restaurant, although one or two guests probably thought that we didn't belong there (as far as the bank account was concerned). But to make a long story short, after we were shown the different pieces of meat that were available to choose from, including a description, the wait for the delicacy began, which wasn't too long. When everything was served on the table, the pleasure came with a 600 g steak including side dishes, which I will probably never forget.........which also affects the bill ;-) !!!

Very nice block house with friendly service. Our first choice if you want something to eat after shopping in Wandsbek. The service is great and very friendly and helpful. —- A constructive criticism that applies to most German restaurants. We eat here almost every week and not for a small amount of money, sometimes as a group of two, sometimes as a group of four. If you then order a Helbing or another nightcap, why is it filled exactly to the limit? The bottle is already paid for with one round! At Greek, Italian and Chinese you can even get a nightcap for free. I find that really sad/stingy.

The ambience is really great and the food is unfortunately a flop. The tartare tasted almost exclusively of mustard, the truffle fries were lukewarm and the fillet was well done. Not recommended. I won't eat here again... Pretty bad with a bill of a whopping 130 euros...

Lunch portion was a bit small. Tasty but a bit small.
