We highly recommend the Block House restaurant on Jungfernstieg. The welcome was friendly and the service was attentive. We enjoyed the food immensely, and we'd be happy to return on our next visit to Hamburg. Reserving a table would be helpful.

A very nice restaurant with friendly staff and a wide selection of both meat and meatless dishes. You don't have to wait, and the food arrived promptly. While the waiters were sometimes a little confused or overwhelmed with the orders, they were very friendly and always tried their best. Overall, I highly recommend the Block House.

It was already very, very busy. There were always lots of guests standing in front of the door, waiting to be let in. Luckily, we had a reservation, and it worked out. The food was good...the knuckle of pork was hearty and crispy. It wasn't top-notch, but that wasn't what we were expecting.

I love Block House, always delicious dishes. As a Hungarian origin I like the Goulash soup, burgers and steaks are always delicious. Only problem was this time the staff and the management of the guest. All the guests had to sit in one corner to fill up the space, we were siting extreme closely to the next table, which was not enough for privacy. The other side of the restaurant was empty, wonder why we couldn’t get a table there to give some space for privacy for good communication. Was also bit loud for me. I had better experience in Blockhouse other times

I really like this restaurant — the food is usually very good, and I come here from time to time. However, last time my steak, which I asked to be medium, came out well done and quite dry. It’s a small thing, but I hope more attention will be given to how the meat is cooked next time. Overall, still a nice place with good food.

One of the most spacious BLOCK HOUSE restaurants, with a fantastic view over the Inner Alster Lake from Jungfernstieg to Ballindamm. The decor is consistently in the BLOCK HOUSE retro style, which Eugen Block established 57 years ago and has consistently maintained ever since. As in all branches, the staff is exceptionally polite, friendly, and competent. And the grill masters are masters of their craft, preparing the steaks to perfection in the renowned BLOCK HOUSE quality. Always worth a visit, especially during off-peak hours, such as in the afternoon.

As always, the food is of excellent quality and the staff is very friendly. Everything is very inviting, with a wonderful view of the Alster. Prices are reasonable, reflecting the high quality.

Very tasty steaks with a great view.

We were there on a Friday afternoon and got a table right away. Unfortunately, my filet was initially rare instead of medium. The waiter noticed this right away, took the plate, and brought me a bruschetta to tide me over. The second time, the steak was perfect :)

The restaurant was cozy, clean and the staff very friendly, they had a printed menu in english, and they gave something to draw for the children. The food was delicious and very reasonable price. Deffinitely reccommend.

Top-notch steaks as always! Service was friendly and attentive! We sat outside, which was fine. All in all, in my opinion, Blockhouse is always solid and safe if you're looking for a good steak without the fuss.

I haven't been there in a long time and was once again very satisfied with the very attentive service staff and the perfect quality of the food. Compared to an Italian restaurant nearby, it feels like a world of difference, and we even paid less for dinner here than at the Italian restaurant. I'd gladly go back to Block House.

This restaurant is in a class of its own. We visit it every time we're in Hamburg and are always delighted. The service, the food, and the food are exquisite! The steaks are, as usual, of good quality. The ambiance is excellent. If you get a window seat, you have a good view of the Binnenalster and Jungfernstieg. The staff is friendly and accommodating. We were there at lunchtime and even got a window seat.

We discovered Block House in Berlin a few days earlier, and during our stay in Hamburg, we returned to the Jungfernstieg location twice. We tried other dishes, all of which were satisfying. The service was fast and courteous. Good value.

The service was great. I'd actually give it 4 stars, but the food is the most important thing for me, and the fries tasted like McDonald's and the meat was almost like a shoe sole... The Caesar salad was really sad. A bit of salad with bread for €10. All for the name. I was disappointed because, given the prices, the location, and the name, I really expected something better...

Quality steakhouse: the rump steak is very tender and flavorful. The hamburgers are excellent: the bun isn't brioche bun but garlic bread, which is what makes it so original! The service is impeccable, and the servers are attentive to your every need! A wonderful discovery!

Block House is always a safe choice for us. This one also had a very nice view. The steak, the salad, potatoes and especially that amazing garlic bread. Everything was amazing. Although i always make the mistake of eating most of my salad before the steak arrives and struggle to finish my meal :)

We came here for dinner with friends and enjoyed it. The service was friendly overall. Even though we were seated near the window (great view), it was unfortunately very stuffy, but it was also a hot day with 33 degrees Celsius. We weren't familiar with Block House restaurants before and were expecting typical burgers – you won't find them here. You get the patty served on crispy baked bread. Also delicious – you just have to be aware of that.

Totally disappointed. The meat was tough and completely raw, barely able to be cut. The onion soup was a disgrace. It's a shame we can't compare it to other block houses.

Mrs. Rumpsteak was excellent, the service a bit slow but very friendly, with a view of the Alster lake in Hamburg. The interior could be a bit more contemporary, but it also retains a certain charm from bygone days. I highly recommend it.

The meat was tough and chewy, the potatoes dried out. The ordered side dishes were forgotten. One meal arrived only when the others were almost finished. The server was very friendly. It was crowded and loud, like sitting at McDonald's. The restrooms were empty and dirty. A message was sent to the manager on the spot, and he apologized. We're usually absolute Blockhouse fans, but this was an expensive disappointment.

I last visited a Blockhouse 25 years ago and was thrilled with the service, the pace, and the hospitality of the staff. Almost forgot... the food was also great, of course.

I have to say upfront that we're not really fans of steakhouses. If you order three different steaks with a grilled point, you rarely get exactly what you ordered. It's different here. Every time we visit Hamburg, we go to Blockhaus at least once. The service is very friendly, the steaks are delicious, grilled to perfection, just as ordered. The ambiance, well, there's quite a bit going on in the place. It's mostly full and a bit loud, but apparently popular. Thanks to the team, and we'd love to come back. We were at Block House Jungfernstieg on Friday evening during Pride weekend – we had the sirloin steak with the famous, fresh Block House salad three times. The meat was top-quality as always – tender, perfectly cooked, and flavorful without compromise. Service was friendly and attentive, and the restrooms were clean and well-maintained. Despite arriving late at 9 p.m., new guests were still warmly welcomed at 9:45 p.m. – I really appreciate that. A reliable place for good steak in the heart of Hamburg – you know what you're getting here.

Absolutely disgraceful! I ordered my steak medium well and what I got was practically raw – just look at the photos I uploaded, it's dripping blood! A so-called steakhouse that can't even cook a basic steak properly is a joke. To "make up for it" they offered me a coffee – as if that fixes serving nearly raw meat after a clear order! I refused, paid, and left. Never coming back and strongly recommend everyone to avoid this place at all costs!

We came hungry and expecting a good steak. We didn't even have time to order, it was so hot, without air conditioning, crowded and stuffy, we just left immediately. We will never know what the quality of the food or service was like. The atmosphere killed us😊 We hope the owners will invest some in this type of heating air conditioning.

A large steakhouse chain, that's well known, and that's how it is there too. The steaks are good, not outstanding, but cooked to perfection, and the meat is of decent quality. The service was friendly and prompt, and they were immediately helpful with a small delivery error (we ordered gratin and got fries). However, it's noticeable that such items are (as expected) pre-made and simply reheated. The restaurant is quite large, and this naturally affects the noise level. Reservations are not possible at Jungfernstieg. All in all, a good average steakhouse...but expensive!

I'm here on vacation and have already eaten twice. Both times without a reservation, but always before 6:00 p.m. The service is very friendly and attentive; I felt very comfortable.

I had a steak for just under €30 which unfortunately tasted burnt. My friend's steak wasn't cooked as requested, which has happened to me many times on Jungfernstieg. The Block House on Stephansplatz is much better.

Waited a long time to be seated. Room was incredibly warm, no ac. Food was ok, however when paying the bill the waiter was asking for 10% to be added to the bill as a tip. Poor.

Highly recommended. We went there for lunch on a Saturday without a reservation and got a table right away after a two-minute wait. The food was very good, and they even give you a vitamin-rich salad beforehand. Unfortunately, it was a bit crowded because the restaurant was fully booked.

So good that we returned twice, once again for dinner and for lunch. Had a wonderful monthly special of tender, tasty beef filet mignon medallions for dinner and gullash soup for lunch. Great atmosphere and personable wait staff. Plus we were conveniently right next door at Furst Hotel across from the train station.

Walking through Hamburg and eager to tuck into a good steak, we looked for a steakhouse and found this place. Although it was still midday, the place was practically full. However, we were served promptly, and in less than a minute we were seated at our table. From the entire menu, we opted for the T-bone steak and the ribeye. They served us with a baked potato and sauce. They had brought us a house salad beforehand. The meat was exquisite. Perfectly cooked and juicy. The atmosphere was a bit noisy, more typical of a Spanish restaurant than a German one. The service was attentive and always friendly.

I always like to visit with my daughter. I love the steak & the garlic bread with sour cream. My daughter had the kids meal fish fingers & fries. Sadly the fish fingers were a little too dry. My daughter didn’t eat them.

I recently visited the Block House restaurant near the lake on Balinndamm Street. As part of a chain, it has the same familiar look and feel, but that doesn't take away from its charm. The restaurant is well-designed, with a cozy American diner vibe. While they don't have fixed long tables, the staff can join smaller tables together for larger groups, making it flexible for different party sizes. I ordered the rib-eye steak, served with a small salad and a potato. I asked for it medium-rare, and it was cooked perfectly - juicy, tender, and just the right amount of pink inside. The salad was fresh, though the tomatoes tasted like they had been in the fridge too long. When I mentioned it, the waiter immediately brought fresh ones, which was great. The only small issue was that the potato wasn't very warm, but the staff quickly reheated it when I asked. Overall, it was a delicious meal with excellent service. The team was attentive and made sure everything was just right. If you're looking for a reliable steakhouse with a welcoming atmosphere, Block House is a great choic

Just had one of the best steaks I’ve had in a while. Perfectly cooked, super juicy, and packed with flavor. The seasoning was on point, and the texture was tender without being too soft. If you’re a steak lover, this one’s definitely worth trying!

Is okay but not super great, especially not when comparing with US steak houses. I had the steak Tatar and I didn't really care for it. The steak the server recommended had some sinew in it which I think is not appropriate for a fairly expensive steak at a specialist steak house.

Even though all the seats are always full, the service is excellent. The food is always delicious and of very high quality. The view is very beautiful if you have a seat facing the Alster.

Food was good, nice waitress who helped us well in English. Really did her best. So far 5 stars. When you go to pay, a colleague is very rude and starts talking about too little tip and things like that, while I hear him first that evening. I don't understand how someone like that is allowed to work there, rude to guests and extremely inhospitable.

Unfortunately, the water isn't vegan. They only serve tap water. Otherwise, everything was great. The meat was delicious, and I also really liked the apple pieces in the apple spritzer.

For me, it's one of the best steakhouses anywhere. No matter what the flavor. Everyone is always super nice and friendly, even when there's so much going on. It's a place where you feel at home.
