BLOCK HOUSE Jungfernstieg in Hamburg

Wir waren an einem Sonntag im Block House. Die Vorspeise war lecker (Brschetta und Salat). Aber schon da, in der Karte war nicht ersichtlich das Salat dabei ist. Sonst hätte ich die Vorspeise weg gelassen. Selbes beim Hauptgang. Nicht ersichtlich warum bei meinem Fleisch eine Ofenkartoffel dabei war und beim Kollegen nichts. So hatten wir auf Grund dazu gebuchter Beilagen den Tisch voll. Sehr gut waren die Beilagen. Nur die Rahmsosse mit Theriakki war eher komisch. Das Fleisch war leider nicht so gut wie erwartet oder erhofft, auch der Medium Gargrad wurde nicht getroffen. Es war sehr Rare. Den Gargrad nehme ich aber nicht für die Abzüge heran, denn den hätte man reklamieren können.

Da Reservierungen hier nicht möglich sind, hatten wir ein wenig Wartezeit eingeplant und doch relativ zügig eine schönen Tisch mit Ausblick erhalten. Der Service war gewohnt freundlich. Schön dass bei den Gerichten weiterhin faire Preise aufgerufen werden, da schmeckt es gleich nochmal so gut. Und geschmacklich waren wir alle durchweg zufrieden. Das Ambiente fanden wir auch sehr gelungen. Beim nächsten Hamburg-Besuch kommen wir bestimmt gern wieder.

El lugar es impresionante, gran vista! El servicio fue genial también. ¿Y la comida? La ensalada es interesante: te preguntan si quieres estilo francés, alemán o italiano. Lo mismo, pero diferentes salsas y ingredientes. El plato principal es una patata horneada única, pan de ajo y un filete que sabe increíble. ¿Bebidas? Estás en Hamburgo, amigo.

Wir haben ein Mrs. Rumpsteak medium bestellt. Das Steak kam well done und absolut trocken. Die Kellnerin entschuldigte sich und brachte uns ein neues. Auch dieses war wieder well done. Der Griller hat sich beim zweiten Steak nicht einmal die Mühe gemacht das Steak anzuschneiden. So etwas haben wir bei anderen Filialen nie erlebt. Selbst die Servicekraft war fassungslos über die Küche.

The Block House on Jungfernstieg impresses with its usual high quality and pleasant ambience. The steak was cooked to perfection, the side dishes were fresh and tasty, and the service was friendly and attentive. I particularly liked the quick service despite the busy restaurant. The only small negative point: It was quite busy, which made for a slightly louder atmosphere. If you like it quieter, you might want to come a little outside of peak times. But overall a clear recommendation for all steak lovers!

We had a great early evening meeting in a great atmosphere! The service was excellent, very attentive, courteous and really on the ball! As always at Block House, the food is consistently great! The quality of the meat is great and the side dishes were perfectly prepared. All in all we had a great get together!

The food was very tasty, but not enough for some people and rather expensive. The ambience was loud but there was a nice view of the Alster. The service was very good and courteous. The toilets, however, were not very hygienic, and the taps were also dusty and chalky. I expected something better. I don't think it would have helped to tell the counter, it wasn't rubbish from an hour ago.

The Block House restaurants are mine Favorites when it comes to quality, preparation and freshness of the products. The steaks are always cooked to perfection, depending on the guest's wishes. Side dishes, dressings and condiments are top notch. The desserts are also very tasty. Since I rarely eat meat, I just trust the best.

Great service! I was there for a business lunch last week and wasn't particularly hungry so I was undecided. The waiter gave me the perfect recommendation. I would have liked the fries to spend a moment longer in the deep fryer, but the medallions were perfect for that. I was also undecided about dessert and was surprised. Ice and hot always works. Thank you for the friendly stay!

We were there during the lunch break when it was busy. We don't have to wait long at all for service, food or drinks. It tasted great. Always happy again

I have to start by saying that we're not actually fans of steakhouses, because if you order three different grilled steaks at a steakhouse, you'll rarely get what you ordered. It's different here. Every time we visit Hamburg we visit the blockhouse at least once. The service is very friendly, steaks are delicious, grilled to perfection as ordered. The ambience, well, there's something going on in the restaurant. Mostly crowded and a bit noisy, but apparently popular. Thanks to the team and gladly again.

Unfriendly service from the bar. The meat was fried inedibly, very tough. Unfortunately, we have to say that the branch on Jungfernstieg has nothing to do with the service, quality and service of the Block House standard. Take a look at all the reviews; Obviously nothing changes here.

T-bone, Rib-eye and onion soup were very very good. The cooking temperature of the meat was medium, just as I wanted. The salads were fresh and the toast was delicious. Desserts are standard.

I ordered medium rare twice and got rare twice. Or is this picture medium rare for you?

Everything was a disaster here today!!! - Something fell or broke every 5 minutes! The employees worked very loudly and hectically. - Salad was not washed well! You've chewed sand under your teeth... earth? - Steak wasn't medium well, had to go back. - Steak came again, fries were served cold. - Desserts came with a big spoon? Without napkins?! I have the feeling that it has become more touristy. Service and condition was a disaster today! Wiping away the dust wouldn't be a bad idea either! 🤦🏼‍♀️

There was some waiting beforehand as we asked for a table in the middle of peak meal time. The service was quick and polite. Unfortunately, the rump steak menu “Mr.Rumsteack” with a 230g steak was not available, as the daily recommendation included a 300g steak. The food was delivered quickly. The steak was well cooked to the right doneness. Unfortunately, the roasted or grilled aromas were so strong that you no longer had the taste of meat and you couldn't taste the garlic butter that came with it. Very unfortunate...

Super nice staff and delicious food

A really great place in the city center, with a fast queue and a friendly manager who brought us a bowl for the dog so it could drink. The food is of excellent quality, everything is very tasty and pleasant. I ordered a medium T-bone steak, and I must say it was very well done. I want to especially mention the waiter in this place. His name is Murat. When we called him, he started complaining that he would have come in a minute... I don't know why he had to complain at all, because we wanted to order right away... Plus, even if you think about it, ruining customers' mood is not a good idea at all. At that moment, I just wanted to leave the restaurant... After such tension, it felt like we had no time to choose anything... Overall, for a waiter like that, it's terrible... I think it doesn't matter the age, type, or condition of a person, they should be served equally. Thank you very much!

We visited here when looking for a place for lunch whilst on holiday in Hamburg. The staff were all fantastic, especially with my 4 year old daughter - they always took the time to chat to her, plus they gave her colouring in during the meal and a jigsaw to take home! The menu is a delight - it's so nice to see a restaurant offer healthier options (like a jacket potato instead of chips). They were also very allergy aware, and my coeliac husband had a fantastic meal. We would love to return when we visit Hamburg again!

Good. And ate delicious steak and the staff was friendly. The shop is right on the Alster and can easily be combined with a shopping tour or a city tour. They also often have good lunch specials.

Unfortunately, all three steaks (rump steak, rib eye, fillet) were dry, tough and with little taste. Ordered cooking levels were not adhered to. The price/performance ratio doesn't fit here at all. The service was nice and helpful.

Never have I had a bad steak in Germany until I visited this place. Waited for 15 mins to get a drink, the waiter didn’t seem interested and was blunt. We had eaten in another restaurant close by the day before and it wasn’t a steakhouse but I had a steak and it was one of the best I’ve ever had, the whole meal was delicious. I was expecting great things from Block as it specialises in steaks but what a let down, it was the worst steak I’ve ever had. I ordered a larger steak than the one I had the previous night yet it was half the size and it was the same cut. It was tough and chewy and really bad, I complained to the manager who wasn’t really interested and said it was probably a bad piece of meat and unfortunately these things happen, he did offer a free drink but I think we were given the poor steaks because we are from the UK and brits in general don’t complain. I would never go back again. I think being a chain restaurant, it’s a case of ship them in and ship them out as fast as you can with not much consideration for the customer. My advice would be save your money and go else where to an independent restaurant!

On December 10th around 8:00 p.m. I had a very disappointing experience with a dark-haired employee in a dark suit at the entrance to your branch on the Alster. When I entered the branch, she immediately asked me where I wanted to go. I explained to her that I wanted to eat, but her answer was unexpected: she said in a sharp tone that there was no toilet and asked me to leave the branch. I was irritated and initially thought I might have misunderstood her. So I asked her three times what exactly she meant, but each time she just repeated the same sentence about the toilet without responding to my explanation that I had come to eat. When I finally told her that I wanted to complain about her behavior, she called her colleagues directly on the phone and simply walked away instead of clarifying the situation. To clear up the misunderstanding, I then contacted your branch by phone, but the call was simply hung up. This behavior made me very sad as I have been a loyal customer for years and have always appreciated your friendliness and service. Nevertheless, I would like to emphasize that I always really appreciate your food and the efforts of most of the employees. I hope that such experiences remain isolated cases, because your branch has always been a place where I felt comfortable.

Yesterday we spontaneously went for something to eat in the log cabin. Despite the full house, we still managed to get a table. We didn't have to wait long for our food. The food was incredibly delicious and the waitress Jenny Joy completely rounded off the evening. Thanks for the nice service. We had fun. :)

Such a great customer service and friendly staff! We have no reservation but we could get the table within only 20’ waiting. We ordered a couple of steaks which were juicy and tender . The starter was very fresh! Good location, directly in city center.

We were with you with 5 people. Despite the large crowds, things went very quickly. The food was very tasty and the service was very pleasant, friendly and quick, big praise to the entire team.

We are guests in Hamburg as tourists and were at the Block House Essen. It was very busy but all the employees were still super friendly, always smiling and always happy to have fun. You could see that they enjoyed their work. The food was a blast, the meat was absolutely perfect, the potatoes had a great taste and the salad was fresh and crunchy. It was incredibly crowded, so it was very hectic and loud. But everything was well organized: from waiting at registration to paying. As always, the food was great, the waitresses were friendly and attentive!

We were there yesterday on February 3rd, 2024, it was probably the last time we were in a block house. The prices are no longer in proportion to the food and especially the portions. There is nothing to criticize about the quality. But you should be full. An onion soup now costs €8.10, it used to come with garlic bread, but that's all over. A burger €17.10, not a portion to fill you up either. Hungry guests are wrong here!

We spontaneously went to eat there with 2 adults and a child (2). We received a very friendly welcome and only had to wait a short time. The conditions were always very friendly. We have never been to such a child-friendly restaurant for our vaccination! Sometimes as a family you just feel tolerated and not welcome. You felt very welcome as a family in the log cabin. The food was very tasty and the price was also very fair.

Terrific! I have an intolerance and for the first time I experienced that the waiter was familiar with the ingredients and was able to advise me. The food tasted great, the steak was cooked to perfection. Even though it was busy, we were served quickly on a Saturday evening. Clear recommendation!

Unannounced with 5 people on Saturday, waited 20 minutes with beer in a very pleasant “hallway”. We weren't turned away like we were in many other restaurants before. Food perfect, steak on point and enough to fill you up. Our waitress Jenny was just great, friendly and attentive. Gladly again when we come to Hamburg again.

We stopped here because somehow we couldn't find the right place anywhere. In the end we were a bit disappointed. The food was okay, but nothing special. The atmosphere is rather uncomfortable. Loud and hectic. Even at a small table we had problems communicating. Toilet not particularly clean either. And that already in the early afternoon.

I had bitten on a stone in the salad and pointed it out to the service, unfortunately with no consequence other than an apology. With an espresso on the house the matter would have been forgotten. Unfortunately, service is no longer the usual Block House quality. Too bad, please fix it.

Too bad! The two of us spontaneously went to Jungfernstieg yesterday afternoon to eat a delicious steak with a great view of the Binnenalster. A special menu enticed us with goose leg, red cabbage and potato gratin, which we both ordered. After the drinks, the food was brought out reasonably quickly. But unfortunately the poultry/sauce and the red cabbage only arrived moderately warm on lukewarm dishes on separate plates! Instead of the gratin, we preferred the baked potato, which was nice and hot(!) next to the leg. After trying it briefly, we complained about the food to our very friendly and attentive server, who of course took all the plates away and came back after a few minutes with our now reheated meat (which was too dry on the inside) and hot, fresh side dishes (which had cabbage tasted good), but everything was put back on plates that were too cool. Nevertheless, we were now satisfied, especially since we were offered a free dessert. Summary: It's probably better not to eat poultry in a steakhouse; they serve baked potatoes, herb bread, pan-fried dishes and salad. And the restaurant managers should already know where the food cools down so quickly on the way from the stove to the guest and this is not at least counteracted with hot dishes. Then see you next visit!

I recently dined at Block House, and it was fantastic! The steak was perfectly cooked – juicy and flavorful – and the ice cream was rich and creamy, a great way to end the meal. The atmosphere was inviting and lively, adding to the experience. Plus, the customer service was outstanding; the staff was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Highly recommend for a top-notch steakhouse experience!

You are brought to your table very quickly and can eat in a more relaxed manner. Even on a Saturday when there is a lot going on! The food is more than good for Block House quality. Unfortunately the service staff were inattentive - probably because of the high number of customers.

Today was a day trip to HH, because today (Friday October 11th, 2024) I visited this restaurant for the 1st time (I usually go to Block House in Bergedorf from time to time), I am very impressed with how this staff responds to the wishes and the seats/ Tables were clean. I won't say no to coming back.😃

We ate very well as a family. The meat was very good and the prices for the children's menus were very reasonable. Only the noise level in the restaurant was significantly too high and that's why it was a bit uncomfortable.

Had a Mr. Rump steak with fries and fried vegetables. Steak was well fried, the fries were crispy and the salad that preceded it was fresh and crunchy. Service was very friendly and the restaurant was bright and cozy. You definitely can't go wrong if you're in the mood for a steak.

A hamburger in Hamburg? How could we resist? The Wife enjoyed the coleslaw that served as a side for her hearty burger. She could not finish the generous serving of French fries. I ate prawns and a goulash soup. Tanya was friends was help and directed to a place that has Franzbrötchen, a must try pastry from Hamburg that is reported to taste like a cinnamon roll.

Visit with friends to the log cabin on Jungfernstieg. What can I say, we ordered a burger for the kids and what we got was a disappointment. Something like that shouldn't be called a bug, because it wasn't. A piece of garlic baguette with a patti lying next to it and fries…. Similar with the adult dishes. We were neither offered the children's card nor were the children given anything to paint as usual. Only when we asked did the lady bring it to us. On the whole, we prefer to go somewhere else... Unfortunately, service has deteriorated significantly

Hi. I waited long time for menue and it was not brought. The place was half empty and waiter plus daily manager had just fun next to kitchen. Finally left without serivce. It was really strange from manager not to see, if the tables are server and just to have fun... laugh, budy hug etc....
