Still one of the best Block House branches, the waiters have been there for a long time and are mostly quick and friendly. My impression is that after Corona the meat quality has deteriorated somewhat, coupled with prices that have been significantly increased, the pain threshold has been reached. The classic starter salad (lettuce, bell pepper, tomato, red onion) has recently been made worse with additional "things", e.g. pumpkin seeds. However, you can tell the service that you want the salad classic / like before. Reservations during peak times are recommended and can be easily made by telephone. The highlight for me is always when it's someone's birthday and "Happy Birthday" sounds over the loudspeaker throughout the restaurant and a spray fountain is brought to the table. --- Update January 22nd: Last night the service in the area at the very back left (the lady) wasn't right at all, service was slow, unfriendly, it didn't clear up for ages, and then almost went crazy when paying without a tip. Where does the expectation come from that substandard service will also reward you with a tip? The lady should review her job choice, especially if she doesn't care about customer service; or is someone forcing you to work at BLOCK HOUSE? Service reduced to **. The baked potato was also old; the lava cake was cold and the herbal tea we ordered initially came as black tea; The male colleague in the back left area then kindly corrected that.

Although we visited the restaurant spontaneously and without a reservation with 8 people on Saturday evening, it was immediately made possible for us to get a large shared table. The service was very friendly and attentive. The steaks were very tasty and of very good quality. The vegetarian dish was also very good. The food was served quickly and the portions filled everyone. If we are in the area again we would like to come back.

Today we were at the Block House in Othmarschen with 8 people to celebrate a birthday and I just have to get this out of my head: Our waiter Erdem made the evening unforgettable :) From the beginning he was so warm, funny and attentive that we We immediately felt at home. He simply had the perfect mix of relaxedness and professionalism, exactly what you want. The food was of course great (as always at the Block House), but the service really made the evening special. Thank you for your good mood and for taking such good care of us. We'll be back - and hope you'll join us again!

Otherwise: The food was pre-prepared and came immediately, the steak was ok (but not the medium rare one I ordered), the baked potatoes had been in the oven for a long time and were completely dry, a tiny bit of cole slaw salad, and the ambience was somehow left in the 80s .

Summer time is very good at the garden

The only star I have to deduct is for the service. However, only because I had the impression that the restaurant simply didn't have enough staff for all the guests. The staff that was there tore themselves up and ran as fast as their feet could carry them. All in all a very successful evening. Definitely happy to come back.

Mediocre service, meat was cooked to the wrong degree, the dressing for the salad was wrong - no refills were given or you were asked if you would like something else to drink. All in all, not a nice stay.

Der Service ist schon sensationell und heute noch einmal etwas flotter, die Getränke angemeldet, zwei…, drei…., vier Wimpernschläge und schon waren unsere Getränke am Tisch. Es geht flott weiter, Ketchup, Mayonnaise, Steak Sauce und schon werden die Vorspeisen serviert, einfach geilogalaktisch. Wir sind gerne hier, Wertschätzend auf hohen Niveau und das macht nachhaltig gute Wiederholungslaune👏👏👏👏👏👏

Solid steakhouse with good food and great, fast service for larger numbers of people The goose was convincing across the board, clear recommendation. The meat was tender and juicy and literally fell off the bone and the skin was crispy. The T-bone steak was medium rare on the inside as ordered, but unfortunately it had no crust at all on the outside, so I would say that it wasn't worth the price in terms of taste. If it had been properly fried on the outside, that would also get a recommendation from me. The New York Cheeseburger is different than expected. The burger bun is served on Block House bread and not a classic burger bun. There is also no burger bun on top. A solid burger in terms of taste. The stir-fried vegetables were fresh and crunchy and I would recommend them. And when it came to desserts, I would have thought that the apple strudel would be the best because I'm an absolute fan of all apple desserts - and it was also great with the vanilla ice cream and vanilla sauce, but actually the Belgian waffle convinced us even more . With the perfectly crispy outer layer and the fluffy inner core, it was perfectly complemented by the fruity compote. The lava cake was ok, but it didn't go well with the sauce and unfortunately the cream couldn't save it either. Overall, a clear recommendation for the Block House, especially for the great and fast service and the solid food, which was served for 8 people at the same time and our waiter approached us attentively and proactively when we needed him

Every time we cross the Hamburg tunnel, I plan to treat myself to a rump steak right there in Othmarschen. NB - At home the green and red steak peppers in large containers are a consolation that the nearest block house in Ddorf is 80km away.

I had to pull myself together not to puke in front of all the customers in this restaurant. This is a commitment to bring me clean food. A few days ago I was eating at Blockhouse in Eidelstedt. Then an employee came and said I had to get up because the place was reserved, but there was no card on the table. As an excuse, there were two cafes. That's nice.

Dear Block House team, I would like to share my experience on my last visit to your restaurant. I have noticed that the quality of the food has significantly deteriorated. Although the food is still good, it is no longer up to the standard I experienced 30 or 40 years ago when I first ate at Block House. I recently went to Block House Othmarschen with my wife. It took almost 15 minutes for a manager to attend to us and offer us a table for two. Luckily we finally got a table. The waitress who served us was friendly, but there is a dire need for improvement in the ambience and furnishings. The current furnishings appear old-fashioned and uninviting. These antiquated elements significantly reduce the overall result. I strongly believe that the Block House would benefit from a modern, contemporary design. A fresh ambience could significantly improve the overall dining experience and encourage guests to return more often. I hope my comments are helpful and can help make the Block House a fun place to spend time again.

As always, a wonderful dining experience. Here you always and reliably get the very best quality. Nowhere else can you find steaks of the quality and with such excellent taste as in the Block House. We regularly choose the filet mignon. You always get grilled the way you want and order it. Always exactly to the point. Simply delicious and something very special. The baked potato is always fantastic for me. So wonderfully crumbly and aromatic (I've never had that anywhere else) and in combination with the house sour cream, a culinary highlight. Equally out of reach is the Block House bread. Everything is simply “round” here. Yesterday we celebrated my birthday there. When I'm in Hamburg, I'm always happy to go to the Block House (to my chagrin, there isn't one in my city), but as a native of Hamburg, I still come here often. I highly recommend a visit to the Block House. Here you can always rely on quality, service and comfort.

The T-bone steak was okay so far, but the baked potato was very unevenly cooked for both me and my companion, sometimes just barely, which my companion had noticed weeks before. We complained about it later on the grounds that we obviously didn't want to throw away edible food when we were told that we should have mentioned it earlier so we could get a new one. If the problem is systemic, it doesn't make sense to throw away 20 more potatoes. It would have been professional to offer us a coffee or something similar on the house or to deduct part of the bill from the potatoes. We continued to be calm and polite and then wanted to pay. I looked at the clock and waited for over 15 minutes until the lady came near the table again before she walked past us a few times. When I pointed out that I got up because we had been waiting for 15 minutes, the only answer I got was that she was sorry because she had been outside. It's unacceptable that you have to wait so long to pay your bill. For the prices that have already increased again, I expect better quality overall.

Hello, come here regularly to eat, be it for lunch or dinner. And the food was always really tasty and if something wasn't right, it was swapped without any ifs or buts, which is not a given, we've had a completely different experience elsewhere. The employees are very friendly and accommodating, I especially have to mention Fitim, the good man knows his craft. Whenever we come we are warmly welcomed. Big thanks for that. We've been coming here to eat for a long time, with and without friends, and it's always a great experience.

UPDATE: we were there again after football, on August 31st, 2024. As always, it's full, but that doesn't detract from the service or quality. So there's nothing to complain about here. Once a year I probably got a piece of meat from an older animal and the piece was damn shaggy, so the quality of the meat at my Edeka around the corner is way better... the service was attentive but friendly is different unfortunately we were always happy to be there!!!

Our family restaurant and the best location in Hamburg. Everything is great. Always happy to come back. The only small drawback is that unfortunately they can't keep up with the taste of the vegetarian dishes. Please also put the vegetarian block burgers from the supermarket on the menu. I can tell you why only one star... Ordered meat well done, it came medium rare. On the second attempt, there was a long blonde hair on my steak... On the third try the meat came back medium rare.

The ambience is clean and well-kept everywhere, as well as cozy, but a little stuck in time. It's not cheap by any means, but it's fair! You must make a reservation if you go during peak hours or want a table outside on a good day. They have a children's menu that includes individual items and painting pencils, as well as well-priced options. The salads are also delicious. What fails is the meat (which claims to be its specialty). It's not very tasty, nor do they cook it that well. And the very high prices.

Yes, you go to Block House because you know what to expect. The map has few surprises, why? I would be happy about new dishes. In return you get the finest steak with delicious side dishes. So "for a very good steak" I would go somewhere else. It was ok, nothing more, nothing less. Ordered T-bone steak medium: the outer edge was rather well done, the inner edge on the bone was almost raw - for 40 euros I have eaten much better pieces of meat.

Und ein Service, der mehr als zuwendend war, besonders als sich ein Fehler in der Küche eingeschlichen hatte und wir reklamieren mussten. Das ist wirklich hohe Schule, die man wahrscheinlich darauf zurückführen kann, dass das Blockhouse noch immer eigentümergeführt ist.

Vielleicht, es ist nicht gut dass ich ursprünglich aus New York City bin. Wenn man ein echt Steak möchtet, es gibt viele gut, berühmt Möglichkeiten. Back in the day, maybe 6 bucks for a piece of meat. But what was thrown at you was a lot better than the €47 they asked for the piece that I was served. Don’t know what the price adjusted for inflation would be. Try the Arizona Steakhouse or other options. But forget the chain of Bloc House restaurants. Ok, maybe for a hamburger…
