Solid steakhouse with good food and great, fast service for larger numbers of people The goose was convincing across the board, clear recommendation. The meat was tender and juicy and literally fell off the bone and the skin was crispy. The T-bone steak was medium rare on the inside as ordered, but unfortunately it had no crust at all on the outside, which means I would say it wasn't worth the price in terms of taste. If it had been properly fried on the outside, that would also get a recommendation from me. The New York Cheeseburger is different than expected. The burger bun is served on Block House bread and not a classic burger bun. There is also no burger bun on top. A solid burger in terms of taste. The stir-fried vegetables were fresh and crunchy and I would recommend them. And when it came to desserts, I would have thought that the apple strudel would be the best because I'm an absolute fan of all apple desserts - and it was also great with the vanilla ice cream and vanilla sauce, but actually the Belgian waffle convinced us even more . With the perfectly crispy outer layer and the fluffy inner core, it was perfectly complemented by the fruity compote. The lava cake was ok, but it didn't go well with the sauce and unfortunately the cream couldn't save it either. Overall, a clear recommendation for the Block House, especially for the great and fast service and the solid food, which was served for 8 people at the same time and our waiter approached us attentively and proactively when we needed him

Expensive, but the steaks are really first class! The ambience is typically Block House simple, the selection isn't too big! There are also vegetarian dishes, well, you have to expect vegetarian eaters in every round!

Customer for decades. Now I was brought a menu with red wasp between fries. I almost puked. Food was exchanged after being tipped off. Whatever else, you can't eat a menu with a wasp. Then there was a call from the area manager with a small apology. Would have expected more. It's sad...

What was kindly clarified by the department manager over the phone? Now expect me to thank you for bringing me a clean meal after previously giving me a meal that had a dead wasp on it. I had to pull myself together not to puke in front of all the customers in this restaurant. This is a commitment to bring me clean food. A few days ago I was eating at Blockhouse in Eidelstedt. Then an employee came and said I had to get up because the place was reserved, but there was no card on the table. As an excuse, there were two cafes. That's nice.

Every time we cross the Hamburg tunnel, I plan to treat myself to a rump steak right there in Othmarschen. NB - At home the green and red steak peppers in large containers are a consolation that the nearest block house in Ddorf is 80km away.

Expectations fully met. Fillets to the point, potato gratin great. Very nice and attentive service. Short waiting time. Gladly again at any time.

Dear Block House team, I would like to share my experience on my last visit to your restaurant. I have noticed that the quality of the food has significantly deteriorated. Although the food is still good, it is no longer up to the standard I experienced 30 or 40 years ago when I first ate at Block House. I recently went to Block House Othmarschen with my wife. It took almost 15 minutes for a manager to attend to us and offer us a table for two. Luckily we finally got a table. The waitress who served us was friendly, but there is a dire need for improvement in the ambience and furnishings. The current furnishings appear old-fashioned and uninviting. These antiquated elements significantly reduce the overall result. I strongly believe that the Block House would benefit from a modern, contemporary design. A fresh ambience could significantly improve the overall dining experience and encourage guests to return more often. I hope my comments are helpful and can help make the Block House a fun place to spend time again.

The T-bone steak was okay so far, but the baked potato was very unevenly cooked for both me and my companion, sometimes just barely, which my companion had noticed weeks before. We complained about it later on the grounds that we obviously didn't want to throw away edible food when we were told that we should have mentioned it earlier so we could get a new one. If the problem is systemic, it doesn't make sense to throw away 20 more potatoes. It would have been professional to offer us a coffee or something similar on the house or to deduct part of the bill from the potatoes. We continued to be calm and polite and then wanted to pay. I looked at the clock and waited for over 15 minutes until the lady came near the table again before she walked past us a few times. When I pointed out that I got up because we had been waiting for 15 minutes, the only answer I got was that she was sorry because she had been outside. It's unacceptable that you have to wait so long to pay your bill. For the prices that have already increased again, I expect better quality overall.

As always, a wonderful dining experience. Here you always and reliably get the very best quality. Nowhere else can you find steaks of the quality and with such excellent taste as in the Block House. We regularly choose the filet mignon. You always get grilled the way you want and order it. Always exactly to the point. Simply delicious and something very special. The baked potato is always fantastic for me. So wonderfully crumbly and aromatic (I've never had that anywhere else) and in combination with the house sour cream, a culinary highlight. Equally out of reach is the Block House bread. Everything is simply “round” here. Yesterday we celebrated my birthday there. When I'm in Hamburg, I'm always happy to go to the Block House (to my chagrin, there isn't one in my city), but as a native of Hamburg, I still come here often. I highly recommend a visit to the Block House. Here you can always rely on quality, service and comfort.

Hello, come here regularly to eat, be it for lunch or dinner. And the food was always really tasty and if something wasn't right, it was swapped without any ifs or buts, which is not a given, we've had a completely different experience elsewhere. The employees are very friendly and accommodating, I especially have to mention Fitim, the good man knows his craft. Whenever we come we are warmly welcomed. Big thanks for that. We've been coming here to eat for a long time, with and without friends, and it's always a great experience.

Blockhouse as you know it. All dishes of the usual quality. I have experienced more attentive service in other Blockhouse restaurants. But overall recommended.

UPDATE: we were there again after football, on August 31st, 2024. As always, it's full, but that doesn't detract from the service or quality. So there's nothing to complain about here. Once a year I probably got a piece of meat from an older animal and the piece was damn shaggy, so the quality of the meat at my Edeka around the corner is way better... the service was attentive but friendly is different unfortunately we were always happy to be there!!!

Our family restaurant and the best location in Hamburg. Everything is great. Always happy to come back. The only small drawback is that unfortunately they can't keep up with the taste of the vegetarian dishes. Please also put the vegetarian block burgers from the supermarket on the menu. (For my girlfriend ;)

I can tell you why only one star... Ordered meat well done, it came medium rare. On the second attempt, there was a long blonde hair on my steak... On the third try the meat came back medium rare.

Actually a great block house. The service is friendly and attentive and the food is delicious. Unfortunately it is quite loud outside when the ambulances drive past with their sirens on.

In short, a solid Block House branch. The quality and taste are always great in every branch, but not outstanding, hence no 5 stars. Staff always friendly and competent. The ambience is clean and well-kept everywhere, as well as cozy, but a little stuck in time. It's not cheap by any means, but it's fair! You must make a reservation if you go during peak hours or want a table outside on a good day. They have a children's menu that includes individual items and painting pencils, as well as well-priced options. The salads are also delicious. What fails is the meat (which claims to be its specialty). It's not very tasty, nor do they cook it that well. And the very high prices.

The food is very good, but the service is simply outstanding! The waiters are very accommodating, quick and polite. The restaurant was completely full, the drinks were at the table after a few seconds and the salad was put together and served at the buffet by the waiter within two minutes. Yes, you go to Block House because you know what to expect. The map has few surprises, why? I would be happy about new dishes. In return you get the finest steak with delicious side dishes. The furniture also seems to have been there for what feels like decades, but everything is in perfect condition. Here too, a little innovation would be great. Best of the best is the service. Despite the restaurant being full, everyone is always super friendly and attentive. Orders are delivered promptly, thanks to the electronic ordering system. All in all, a recommendation with an exclamation mark ❗️

So "for a very good steak" I would go somewhere else. It was ok, nothing more, nothing less. Ordered T-bone steak medium: the outer edge was rather well done, the inner edge on the bone was almost raw - for 40 euros I have eaten much better pieces of meat.

Spät kamen wir nach einem Konzert erst gegen 22:30 Uhr. Doch was wir dann erlebten, gehört zum Erfreulichsten der letzten Zeit. Alles frisch (Salat!!!), tolles Fleisch, sehr gut gegrillt. Und ein Service, der mehr als zuwendend war, besonders als sich ein Fehler in der Küche eingeschlichen hatte und wir reklamieren mussten. Das ist wirklich hohe Schule, die man wahrscheinlich darauf zurückführen kann, dass das Blockhouse noch immer eigentümergeführt ist.

Vielleicht, es ist nicht gut dass ich ursprünglich aus New York City bin. Wenn man ein echt Steak möchtet, es gibt viele gut, berühmt Möglichkeiten. Here in Hamburg, the Bloc House chain is no comparison. Immer, leider, eine enttäuschen. Ja, der Wein war ok. But the steak looked like the temp of the grill or broiler was too low, and the piece was pretty thin, as it was. And, on top of everything, it was EXPENSIVE! For the steak, wine, and bruchetta, about €55. Way too much for the quality of what was served. Heh, there used to be a chain of cheap, budget steak houses in New York called Tad’s. Back in the day, maybe 6 bucks for a piece of meat. But what was thrown at you was a lot better than the €47 they asked for the piece that I was served. Don’t know what the price adjusted for inflation would be. Try the Arizona Steakhouse or other options. But forget the chain of Bloc House restaurants. Ok, maybe for a hamburger…

A very nice restaurant where we ate delicious steak menus. The steak was cooked to perfection as ordered, the garlic bread was excellent and the salad beforehand was crisp, fresh and delicious. I ordered a burger and only got the patty. A colleague of mine also ordered a burger. There the patty was simply placed on the normal herb bread and both burgers cost €15 for the fact that you didn't even have a real burger, just meat on one. Plates really bad!

The salad is rather bland. The steaks are not recommended, and the degree of doneness is not always right. For the money, what you get is pretty mediocre

Moin Folks, oh jaaaaaa, die Lage des Restaurants ist sehr perfektionistisch am Bahnhof und in schöner Zentrale Stadtteillage. Der Service sehr flott und die Auswahl an Speisen einfach Geilo Fleisch lastig. Hier bitte immer Tisch reservieren und genießen 😌. Wir waren zu fünft und Leckerschmecker.

Went here spontaneously in the evening (it was extremely full because the HSV game had ended shortly before)... we were warmly welcomed with our two small dogs and didn't even have to wait 3 minutes until the receptionist brought us to the table... Incredibly nice and courteous service, we have rarely been served so kindly and kindly by everyone! A big thank you for that, you really feel very comfortable!… and the food is also really great!! It all started when we made the reservation over the phone... there was a very empathetic and friendly employee on the phone... after a short wait we were assigned a nice spot... even though it was very full, everything went very well on time organized and the staff always friendly. The salad was super fresh and delicious 😋, the steak was grilled to perfection and the dessert was amazing... So we will come back...

We ate there with our family today. The service was nice, but the Spezi and Fanta were apparently extremely stretched with water... and no, it wasn't the ice cubes. The herb butter is no longer available with many steaks, the medium meat came out bloody and not as ordered. This may happen to one person, but it's annoying to 6 out of 8 steaks. It's a shame actually.... :-( ! Our conclusion... next time we'll go somewhere else.

We were there for lunch, quick, friendly service, delicious spare ribs, salad and fries, sauce was added free of charge upon request. Prices absolutely ok, 2x spare ribs + 2 drinks just over €30, the food was plentiful!

Full points rating. The service was incredibly great. My daughter received great advice as a vegan. Everything is made possible here, so that I can now visit the restaurant with her more often. The meat (Mrs Rumpsteak) was to die for. The salad was delicious.

Once again we dined in the old tradition at the Blockhouse on Waitzstrasse. As always, top quality, top team and the Blockhouse was full. Still, there was no rush and we felt very comfortable. St.Pauli and Rot Weiß Essen won, said hello to Caspar David and had a great meal... heart, what more could you want 😉

I am a huge fan of Block House and have eaten at one of their restaurants countless times. When I compare these with each other, the Block House in Othmarschen is the best for me. Friendly service and always top quality food.

When we stopped there in our white Vespas late in the evening on the weekend in the 1980s to eat garlic bread to go with our girlfriend, this block house was still cool. No more “new kids on the block” today, just gram-perfect steaks that are prepared to order and steak pepper shakers that have smaller holes. You get full.

Mion, I have been a guest for 25 years. Unfortunately I have to say that the quality of the meat has deteriorated. There's always no garlic bread. Prices are continually rising. Moin Folks, hier in Othmarschen ist die Gastro sehr überschaubar und von daher ist dies direkt am Bahnhof der charmante Genuss-Fleisch-Tempel und was zeichnet das hiesige Restaurant aus??!?! Nun der super Service, immer sehr zügig und extrem verbindlich. Klaro, die Qualität der Speisen und Getränke, ach ja, die Steaksauce und Sour Cream und das Steak Gewürz, das ist neben dem Ketchup schon besonders, doch eher außergewöhnlich. Die Kinderfreundlichkeit, die Kunden, Gäste von morgen. Hier fühlt man sich schon beim Empfang sehr heimisch und beifolgende Bilder unterstreichen das ganze, Guten Appetit 😋

Mehr geht nicht. Die übliche, sehr gute Qualität des Essens, gepaart mit dem hervorragenden Service macht jeden Besuch im Blockhaus berechenbar gut. Die Kids werden immer mit Stiften (Anspitzer ist auch vorhanden), Papier und abschließendem Spielzeug verwöhnt. Wer Geburtstag hat, bekommt ein Glas Sekt mit Geburtstagslied und Sprühkerze.
