We just returned from the Blockhouse and were warmly welcomed and served. The food was excellent, as always, and Selcuk was, as always, very warm and attentive. We love coming to the Blockhouse Alstertal and are already looking forward to our next visit!

We went there yesterday at my mother-in-law's request. I would describe it as a "steak museum." The food was okay, but the atmosphere was a bit dated.

It's been our favorite restaurant for over three years. We come here regularly and absolutely love eating there. The dishes and service, especially the warm-hearted Selcuk, who always makes our stay more enjoyable, are simply superb.

I was there with my family yesterday because my grandma celebrated her 72nd birthday. The atmosphere was very nice and we had great weather. The staff was very friendly and they organized a birthday program. Everything was very nicely done. The champagne they serve isn't that tasty, but you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, but the picture they took turned out nice. Now, to the food: The food is quite expensive considering you get so little with some dishes. I can't recommend the turkey breast steak: a large potato, a piece of bread, and three very small turkey breast steaks. I had the New York cheeseburger, lots of meat and fries, nothing to complain about, but you can't really call it a classic burger. You get a plate that's half delicious fries, and the other half is a huge patty that unfortunately didn't taste as if it had any seasoning, and then there's a piece of bread underneath the meat. Not a burger bun, but the classic garlicky thing you always get at Block House or Jim Block. If you request an extra piece of bread, you can make it into a burger, but of course, I was a little stunned at first. All in all, I was relatively satisfied, but unfortunately, some other family members weren't at all. You definitely have to be careful what you order here.

On August 9, 2025, we met at Block House Alstertal with 14 people for a birthday dinner. It was my daughter Saskia Marie's 40th birthday. The tables were beautifully decorated, and Bettina Hauschildt was in charge of our well-being, which she did an excellent job. All of our guests, including us, were thrilled. It was a wonderful day, and I would like to thank the team at Block House Alstertal, especially Bettina Hauschildt. We would love to come back. Best wishes from Saskia Marie and Christiane Matern.

My 88-year-old mother and I come almost regularly every two weeks for lunch on Saturdays. The incredibly friendly service staff are all very attentive and professional. Today, the three of us went out to eat, accompanied by Bettina. She has such a kind personality and took excellent care of us. Thank you so much; we felt very comfortable and will continue to enjoy coming back to the Block House Alstertal.

Top steakhouse experience in Poppenbüttel! We had lunch at the Block House in Poppenbüttel yesterday and were completely impressed. The quality of the meat was truly outstanding – perfectly cooked, juicy, and flavorful. The side dishes were also fresh and delicious. We would especially like to highlight the service: The waitresses were very friendly, attentive, and courteous. The ambiance is modern and cozy, making you feel immediately at home. We will definitely be back – a clear recommendation for all steak lovers!

Yesterday, six of us were at the Block House. Everything was as usual...extremely loud, dark, and tables way too close together, but OK. We've known the Block House like this since 1972. We've always enjoyed going there, but yesterday was one of those days when the waiter (and this wasn't the first time this has happened at the Block House)... The waiter's quote: The food is only reheated HERE. Special requests like no onions or turkey instead of beef cannot be accommodated. Or arguing with the guest is completely unacceptable for me personally at the Block House. Unfortunately, the Block House has declined considerably in all areas, including when it comes to allergy sufferers, vegans, or people who don't eat pork or don't want to. I'll think twice about going there with my family or celebrating a birthday there in the future.

We had a large birthday party. There was champagne, music, and the cake everyone brought along was served. Bettina provided fantastic service. The atmosphere was very informal!

⸻ Today, my neighbor invited me over – there were five of us, and we had a really great time together. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed; we laughed a lot and just felt at home. Bettina – I think that's her name – was especially amazing. I've rarely experienced such a friendly, open, and cheerful demeanor, especially not in everyday work life. If I had been the owner, I would have promoted her to boss immediately! She was definitely our highlight of the day. ☺️

It was delicious and we were all full. Bettina was very nice and funny.

Expensive, not much on the plate, I left the restaurant hungry. It wasn't much better on the second visit. It's not worth eating or visiting again. The waiters are friendly and ask if everything is OK. Drinks are cold. The dining room is clean and well-maintained.

We made a reservation, which is absolutely necessary given the popularity of this restaurant chain. When we arrived, we were seated within two minutes. The gentleman at the reception was professional. The nice lady took our order and was simply wonderfully kind. The menu arrived very quickly. Excellent up to this point. The Caesar salad was delicious. However, the sauce under the vitello tonnato was a bit lacking. She really enjoyed the rump steak. My turkey breast consisted of three small pieces. Everything was delicious, no doubt. But the portions were borderline small. The dessert was also good. We each had two drinks, and the total was around €100. Since the food here is always a delight, we always enjoy coming back to the Block House.

We were at BlockHouse Alstertsl this afternoon. We were lucky enough to be able to sit outside. The welcome was anything but friendly. It took a while for the waitress to bring the menus and ask for our drink order. The dishes were very poorly presented, fitting for the service outside. The sky was a bit overcast, and while the guests were still eating, the awnings were being retracted and the empty tables around them were being cleared. You could almost tell they were just waiting for the few guests outside to finally finish eating so they could pay and leave. What a shame.

Yes, it is next to Saturn-MediaMarkt and opposite AEZ, so shopping and eating can be easily combined.

Mr. Eugen Block also dined here on Saturday evening – and for good reason! Simply delicious – with great service. The wait at the entrance is worth it without a reservation and can be shortened with a drink.

Ich war an einem Samstag zum Mittagessen dort, ca. 12 Uhr. Bestimmt 10 Minuten auf die Bedienung gewartet, die erst kam, als ich zu dem Herren ging, der mit einigen Kollegen am Tresen am Eingang stand. Er kam dann auch zwei Minuten später. Der Salat kam relativ zügig und war von der Menge her "gerade noch ok", man konnte jedoch den Boden vom Teller sehen. Das Mr.BlockHouse war allerdings von der Zubereitung eine Frechheit. Innen fast roh (obwohl Medium-R bestellt) und leider insgesamt lauwarm, fast schon kalt. Auch die Kartoffel war fast kalt. Da es dem viel zu kleinen Brot genauso ging, gehe ich davon aus, dass mein Gericht relativ lange in der Küche stand. Zudem möchte ich die reduzierte Menge des Steaks kritisieren. Ich gehe in ein Restaurant um SATT ZU WERDEN. Die ursprüngliche Menge war ok, jetzt ist es zu wenig und die Ankündigung, die geringe Menge auch nach der jetzt geplanten PREISERHÖHUNG weiter beizubehalten fördert nicht gerade einen nächsten Besuch. Nebenbei: Es wurde nicht gefragt, ob alles ok war, weder zwischendurch noch beim Bezahlvorgang. Der Besuch im Alstertal wurde damit abgerundet, das ich dem unaufmerksamen Kellner kein Trinkgeld (obwohl sonst sehr großzügig) gegeben habe und er, als ich am Ausgang mich nochmals verabschiedete, nicht mal reagiert hat. Wenn jetzt die Preiserhöhung kommt, komme ich nach über 40 Jahren nicht mehr wieder. Zu teuer, man wird nicht mehr satt, zu lieblos und die letzten drei Besuche waren wie der hier geschilderte.

Bettina and Selcuk have been some of the best hosts for years, always friendly and not pushy. The food is homemade.

Meal: 3 turkey steaks, one too salty! Salt on turkey steak???? Potatoes badly burnt! Cheeseburger without a bun lid!!! The food was bad! Any snack bar on the main street can do better! Both meals cost 33 euros, that's just not right!!!!!!!

Yes, definitely recommended, as the food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the prices are reasonable! However, there were seven birthday parties to celebrate in two hours. That was a bit tiring, because the Happy Birthday music played very loudly every time. It was annoying, but still okay.

The food today was not only bad, but also poorly presented... And that's certainly not what you'd expect in a restaurant like the Blockhouse! The salmon had zero flavor, wasn't seasoned at all, and was "swimming in lemon sauce." The food isn't even that badly presented in a large cafeteria. The Blockhouse is no longer there, but it used to be!! What a shame! But our waiter was super nice and tried very hard to please us. Many thanks to this young man. You can save yourself these standard replies! If you had read correctly, we would have spoken to the staff. Therefore, your apology cannot be taken seriously.

Yes, I can recommend this place. I'm usually very critical, but the food is excellent no matter what you order. The service is also top-notch; if you come with children, they'll immediately get something to draw. There are also children's dishes. The ambiance is also lovely, and in the summer, you can eat outside.

BLOCK HOUSE Alstertal is our savior for those "I don’t wanna cook" nights or when we return from vacation to an empty fridge. Every time, without fail, the steaks are cooked to perfection, and the staff makes us feel right at home with their friendly, welcoming service. It’s the kind of place where you know exactly what you’re getting—great food, zero fuss, and a reliably good time. Whether it’s a lazy evening or a small celebration, this is our happy place. Always a pleasure!

Unfortunately there was very little meat in the American salad and the plate was far too small. A lot of salad fell off my plate while I was eating. Very little salad for a main course.

I was there this evening, excellent food, hospitable environment, the best thing of the evening was the waitress. With his availability, kindness and professionalism he made everything even more perfect. I ate very well and was served perfectly. At the end of the meal, the waitress Beltina recommended me a new dessert, "affogato", delicious and perfect. I thank the waitress Beltina for her kindness and professionalism. Surely Mrs. Belitina is the icing on the cake for the local Block House, like a ray of sunshine in Germany that puts everyone in a good mood. I'll definitely be back.

This is our favorite Block House. Not just because of the best sirloin steak, but mainly because of the best service! When we are there as a family or our teenage kids want to eat a portion of fries with friends... We are all served super friendly - almost like a family. Thank you very much for that!

Very nice service - we were immediately given 10 (!) Prosecco (+birthday song) when the waitress noticed that it was someone in our group's birthday. And above all, the food was excellent - very tasty fresh salad and perfectly prepared steak. The other dishes (e.g. the fish) were also very tasty. Only the furnishings are a bit outdated... (but I didn't really find it annoying).

Simply great service, friendly and the food came at the same time for my group. After I was asked if everything was okay? I just said that my meat could go on the grill again, so I got my piece of light grilled in no time and got the bread and potatoes new. Simply great service. The portion sizes were also very good.

First I would like to say that the food was, overall, good. I just think it's a shame that we weren't asked how we would like our meat fried and also that there was no chocolate powder on the cappuccino. It's all a bit loveless. It has something of bulk rather than class.

A typical blockhouse with good food and drinks. But I would particularly like to mention a man who takes care of the tables and guests! He was very friendly and even though we didn't have a reservation on a day when it was extremely busy, he made us feel welcome. He kept informing us how long it would take and, despite the high stress, he was always friendly and gave us a small drink because of the long waiting time. Thank you for being so accommodating to your guests - we will definitely be back!

I had lunch and it was great. The baked potato was tasty, but rather sweet for my taste. Overall everything was great. The waitress was very nice and had a complete overview despite the large number of guests. We got the last table for two on a Friday without a reservation, so call ahead. With the open kitchen you have a great view of the preparation of your menu. Can't complain.

Nice service, delicious food. But the prices have increased a bit and the size of the steak has decreased. And there was neither whipped cream nor a scoop of ice cream with the apple strudel. Things used to be different too. But you get high quality and food that simply tastes good.
