EDIT Aug 2024 (Now 5/5 stars): Went to the Block House again and it has improved greatly in many ways since our last visit in 2023. Now 5 stars! The popular apple strudel has been added back to the menu. There are also many new dishes and starters (e.g. avocado tartare). The portion sizes have also been adjusted. As a meat fan, I think it's good that the rump steak is now also available as a 300g version. Otherwise steak, block house baguette and co as always perfect, to the point and delicious as always. The waiter Christo was also very friendly, professional and always had a funny saying. Greetings to the Block House Team Eidelstedt. We're coming back regularly now. 2023 (3/5 stars): Food was generally tasty and service was good. The ambience and furnishings were ok and the same as 15 years ago. However, I was surprised that the portions were significantly smaller than before and the prices had risen sharply. In addition, some desserts (e.g. apple strudel) were taken off the menu. We paid a total of €100 for two people without ordering anything extra. The price-performance ratio is no longer as good, despite inflation and increased energy prices. The steak was perfect, but the salad was of poor quality as some brown spots were visible and the end or remaining pieces of the lettuce seemed to have been used. We like the Block House products, but will look for another steakhouse when it comes to dining out.

Terrible, we will definitely not be coming back. We waited 20 minutes to be served despite waving and no one was willing to come to us. Guests who came after us already received their drinks and salads. We then got up and left without being spoken to. You can't run a restaurant like that, maybe they don't need guests. Without greeting and very angry.

Rustic inside like the 70s, but fitting. Delicious grilled food.

Ambiente war nett, saß alleine an einem Vierertisch. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Essen war eine Farce: Ich hatte den Block House Cheeseburger bestellt mit Pommes. Es kam: eine kleine Frikadelle auf einem kleinen Stück Knoblauchbrot mit einer Scheibe Käse überbacken. Darunter eine dünne Scheibe Tomate und ein Blatt Eisbergsalat. Alles zusammengehalten von einem Holzspieß. Die Pommes waren sehr hell und kaum knusprig. Ein Salat gab es nicht, nur ein Esslöffel Krautsalat auf einer Gurkenscheibe drapiert. Alles in allem ein sehr trauriger Teller und das für 15 €! Dafür war es zu teuer!

I ordered the American Tendeloin. With this steak I was compensated for ALL the unsuccessful steaks I have had to eat so far. It was - there is no other way to put it - an experience. Thank you for that! The dessert was also prepared with a lot of love.

Instead of medium or medium-rare, the steaks came well done. Complaint unproblematic, but annoying. Unfortunately, the second attempt wasn't perfect either. Unfortunately, Caesar's salad is pretty sad. The steaks on the children's plates (Western plates) were well done and very dry, so only fries were good. Maybe the person at the grill was having a bad day. But the service was extremely friendly and accommodating. Next time I'd rather go back to Othmarschen.

Really delicious asparagus soup! Otherwise the food was okay in terms of price/performance. Not necessarily recommended for vegetarian friends due to the selection. The staff was very friendly and funny! 😊🙌🏼

I used to come here regularly with my family, but after what we experienced yesterday, it was our last visit to this restaurant. Mainly because of this one rude employee who wasn't particularly friendly to us. Strangely enough, the food yesterday wasn't very appetizing either compared to our previous visits. We didn't feel welcome at all this time. What a shame!

Often order fries there to take away. Unfortunately, the portions are getting smaller and smaller. This means that 2 portions of fries are only enough for one person at most. Strangely enough, the prices are always different. It's a shame, but that was definitely the last time!

But sure!!! A classic block steak house; It's almost always the same in all block houses, and it almost always tastes the same in all of them! The service here is very good and I go there more often...it feels like a family!!! And I've always enjoyed it so far...keep it up!!!!

The skin of the baked potato was completely hard. Shouldn't have been released like that at all. When there was a complaint the only question was: "Do you want a new one"? Bad service. There was hardly any activity at 3:30 p.m., we were served by a total of 5 waiters, all of whom were probably career changers without any training. Portions small and unreasonably expensive.

Far too expensive for the small portions. I'd rather buy a kilo of steak and cook it at home, it's cheaper and easily feeds 6 people instead of one who goes home half-full and with an empty wallet!

Yesterday, on the occasion of my birthday, I went to the Block House again after what felt like 15 years.. We wanted to treat ourselves to something.. To be honest.. The menu was simple as usual.. As usual at the time.. It's completely okay.. But the prices.. outrageously raised.. For definitely less on the plate.. The meat quality is great.. But.. Pay extra for every side dish, a so-called small salad.. A few leaves of lollo rosso.. A slice of tomato.. With Caesar dressing.. Which a diluted French dressing is.. For 6.90...that's cheeky.. The garlic bread.. Was in my time.. At least half a loaf of the one you can buy in every supermarket now.. Nowadays it is a quarter.. Eugen... I worked for you at the grand elysee hotel for 4 years... Not well paid but the certificate opened doors for me... A well-intentioned tip.. As a gastro connoisseur and private connoisseur... ... You created a dynasty back then... Plus the really great grand elysee... God knows you no longer need to enrich yourself greatly... By increasing the prices and reducing the quality or quantities... . Treat everyone, even those with smaller budgets, to be able to enjoy your great food, otherwise I see a problem given the really good competitors

Insanely, insanely bad service. We have never been disrespected as a family. Was it our little son, 2 years old, who was happily playing with his car in his seat? Was it my wife's sweater or was it my cap? The service staff “stared” at us for the entire hour and a half as if we had just come from filming RTL. There can be no question of observation for attentive service. The lady took the order and brought it out. After our food was served at the table, we didn't ask if everything was okay or if we wanted to order anything else. I had to ask for forgiveness for every fart, which, as a former boss in the upscale hotel industry, displeases me. My wife was completely ignored the entire evening and our son didn't seem welcome. If children are not desired, please let us know. It's no problem, we know he's a little boy who can't sit still for an hour. Then you don't offer a free choice of seating, but rather place it where it will least "disturb" you. The maitre d stood at the entrance and twiddled his thumbs. If you're already wearing a suit and a tie, you can also take a walk around and check on your guests. We have Covid and it's not like this restaurant has been overrun. During the Covid period we just wanted to go out for a casual and simple meal again. It didn't work... too bad. The two stars go to the American Tenderloin, which was correspondingly good to Block House. P.S. To the lady who seems to have run our station. Good tipping is a symbiosis of good food and good service. One hand doesn't clap alone! A lot could have been made up for with a smile.

We were greeted friendly. The dishes we ordered were all very good, flawless.

The burger pattie was inedible, fried for too long? No fresh hack? I don't know, I ate 3 bites and didn't like it, my friends also tried it and found it just as inedible :( the garlic bread has become smaller, about half the size, and didn't taste the same as it did a year ago. We won't eat there anymore. 66 euros, for 1 small beer, 1 citizen, 1 starter, 1 steak... something very expensive for the quality. The service was so semi-nice, we were often overlooked even though many walked past us.

We were there on a Saturday evening and luckily we had a reservation. The food was great and even though all the tables were occupied, we didn't have to wait long and were served very nicely. We will be back!

Clear menu and delicious dishes. I could easily do without the vegetarian stuff, but there are also offers for meat lovers. The kicker was that the waitress was the same as she was about 10 years ago. Crunchy and loose.

What bad things can you write about this block house in Eidelstedt? We've been eating steak there for about 30 years. According to the motto “never change a running system”, the menu or the interior design is carefully optimized. You immediately feel in good hands and welcome when you come in. Service is top and steaks are simply amazing here. It's always a little more expensive, but it's also a real pleasure to eat the meat. Dessert selection is rather typical and not the BH strength.

Wir haben telefonisch einen Tisch am Fenster reserviert. Hat nicht geklappt! Stattdessen war gar kein Tisch reserviert. Hat sich aber noch einer gefunden. Essen war ok, Ketchup kam etwas spät. 80€, 3 Personen je 1 kleines Getränk, schon eine stolze Ansage.

One of the few originals that has survived time at Eidelstedter Platz. And rightly so, great service, appropriate atmosphere and really good food. However, you should make a reservation in advance to be on the safe side, as there is always a lot going on here.

Block House ist das beste Steak House das es gibt. Nicht ohne Grund spricht man oft von der Block House Qualität. Meiner Freundin und mir schmeckt es immer sehr gut und hier kommt man trotz der höheren Preise voll auf seine Kosten. Die wirklich extrem netten und zuvorkommenden Bedienungen runden mit dem Ambiente vollen 5 Sterne ab! Ganz toll!

Von den besuchten mittlerweile fünf verschiedenen "Blockhäusern" in Hamburg ist dieses für mich ganz klar die Nr 1. Qualität des Essens, der ausgesprochen zuvorkommende Service und die Preise überzeugen. Ganz klare Empfehlung!

Geht nicht besser. Hat alles bestens funktioniert. Kann ich wärmstens empfehlen . Da stimmt alles, Service und Essen wirklich top !!!

Das essen war nicht besonders. Da habe ich für weniger Geld schon viel besser gegessen. Der Service war auch nicht besonders. Viel durcheinander.

Wir sind bereits seit Jahren regelmäßig im Block House Eidelstedt zu Gast, und sind bislang immer sehr zufrieden gewesen. Besonders die langjährigen Servicekräfte machen die Besuche hier immer so angenehm. Um so größer die Enttäuschung, als beim letzten Besuch kein einziges bekanntes Gesicht mehr da war! Sehr schade, zumal unsere Servicekraft dieses Mal mit Unaufmerksamkeit glänzte. Im Ganzen leider ein nicht so schöner Abend.
