BLOCK HOUSE Harburg in Hamburg

I haven't been to a Blockhouse in a long time. The atmosphere is like it was 15 years ago, classic. The service was very friendly and attentive, as well as quick and plentiful. Food: We had the rib-eye, which was generously prepared, very well, and cooked to perfection. I would recommend this Blockhouse.

We enjoy our lunch here. The staff is friendly and attentive. We think the lunch menu is fairly priced. Just under €14 for a small rump steak with potato gratin and spinach leaves, delicious. The salad is also included in the price. With a glass of freshly squeezed water, it comes to €30 for two. And the quality is top-notch.

Delicious food, a cozy atmosphere, and exceptionally good service. Ilijas was on the bill. Many thanks to the entire team for a wonderful evening!

The Block Houses need an update, but they're reliable. The meat is good, the salad crisp and colorful, but everything else isn't particularly special. The service, on the other hand, was excellent; the lady in charge of ours was always present, very attentive, and quick despite the large number of guests – a perfect hostess (Dear BlockHouse team, I unfortunately didn't remember her name, but you have a true star in your team – she was in charge of the area next to the entrance on the evening of March 4, 2025. Please pass on the praise!)

Always worth a visit. The meat tastes great, no matter the dish. Service is also top. Toilets are always kept clean.

The Block House is great. The food tastes very tasty, the service is very friendly and quick as long as it's not too busy. When you say it's your birthday, a birthday song comes on and you take a photo and at the end you get a card with the photo and lots of signatures. We have been eating here for several years and it is always a pleasure for us. I can only recommend the restaurant!

Salad was nice, but the steak I ordered was very chewy, like gum. Chips are thin and not crispy.

Waited over 45 minutes despite reservation. And then answered cheekily when we wanted to know how long we still had to wait.... Rude!!!!!

I like to remember how delicious it was back then at the Block House Harburg. It was something special to eat there. However, this has changed. The atmosphere is the same as it has been for years. The service is, let's put it, friendly, not exactly customer-friendly. I expect friendliness here, so that you feel at home and that you get what you ordered and don't forget the salad or clear it away so quickly even though you haven't finished eating yet. A smile would also be nice; internal training would be appropriate here. About the food: the fries were limp and the steak was not medium, but almost raw. It was then returned and received back almost raw. Here we recommend extra training on the grill, especially given the high prices. The saying really fits here: Everything used to be better.

My steak was medium rare, but unfortunately the external smoky aroma (charred) was a bit too much for me. Unfortunately, the maritime team was busy chatting, dancing and laughing a lot. Among other things, we had ordered a Classic Burger and when it was served we initially thought it was a mistake because instead of a burger there was only a patty on the plate!! We found this to be extremely misleading and wished we had been informed about this by the menu and the service staff. The service should be trained again here. We also ordered Filet Mignon 3/4 through [medium-done] and received medium-raw. It's a shame, we would have expected more here.

We ate the hit of the week from the lunch program. It was a very tasty meal INCL. salad at a very good price. It couldn't be better. Service was quick and friendly as always. You sit comfortably with enough distance from your neighbors. Highly recommended.

The last time I was in the Blockhouse was about 6 months ago. Yesterday again after such a long time. The austerity measures cannot be overlooked here. Unfortunately, the portions of the side dishes have been drastically reduced. The goulash soup was exactly 4 tablespoons in size. I celebrate my birthday at the Blockhouse in Harburg every year and have always been very satisfied. Now I was back at the Blockhouse with a few friends to celebrate my birthday and unfortunately we were only disappointed. For example, there is no longer a photo with a card (which always gave the whole thing a lot of charm), then the service was listlessly annoyed and overwhelmed so that you didn't want to order anything else or say anything about it. The food was okay but not worth the price at all! In addition, you waited a relatively long time for your order or it was completely forgotten. It's a shame, it was always worth a visit but now it was the last time.

It was our first time there - everything from the welcome to the payment was great! It was cozy, we could watch the steak being prepared from our table, the ventilation of the restaurant was also very good, you didn't notice that steaks were being grilled a few meters away. It was my first time eating at Block House and it looked very nice there too. The service is nice. Although I ordered my meat “well done” or “well done”, it arrived medium rare. Unfortunately, I didn't feel well at all after eating. I have been having severe gastrointestinal problems of flatulence, diarrhea and cramps for several days. Either I have stomach flu or food poisoning. I'm very disappointed that the first time at Block House went like this.

First of all: I had an American Tanderloin with potato gratin and spinach, as well as 2 cold drinks. Everything was delicious. There was absolutely no reason to complain. But: you could also eat in the Bullerei for the same money. And then the experience factor and the quality are a bit better. In this respect, measured in terms of price-performance ratio, it's rather average. Sorry.

There was also a small musical performance as a gift and a sparkler as a gift, very nice thank you for that. With us you have gained 2 new regular guests.

I've been coming here since I was a child, unfortunately a lot has changed. The service has clearly deteriorated. There are a lot of waiters around, but they don't look at the tables much. It is discussed in front of the guests that they should go smoke or speak loudly in their native language. As a guest we felt uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the corners of the toilets are dirty with sand, dirt and hair. There were also a few spiders. The food was okay, but unfortunately you can taste that a lot of it was just warmed up. It was lukewarm. The children's fries were also not crispy, but dripping with fat and not properly fried. The spinach used to be much better. You can now say that we should address it. But we're really tired of it and don't want to keep having food thrown away. When I ordered I asked to swap my bruschetta for spinach. That was approved. Then on the bill, €4.50 for spinach, but no bruschetta (only bread was on the plate). When I asked, it was clarified to me that they only had the tomatoes down. You have to say that bruschetta costs €5.50 in the house, the bread only €1. Plus it's not bruschetta, it's salsa. At least I was informed about it. I was then just left standing there. You felt really stupid and with a bill of €90 you would have to beg for money too. That had nothing to do with service. My husband and I often go to the Block House in Düsseldorf, Jungfernstieg or Berlin and are always very satisfied there.

We were really warmly greeted by Bastian at reception and shown to our place. He was an excellent host, asked every now and then whether everything was OK and the meat was second to none. My wife and I had an exceptional culinary evening and are already looking forward to our next visit

We had a great stay here, all the waiters were always very courteous and extremely attentive! We felt like little kings here, thank you very much for that! We also really liked the food and even after a small "meat dilemma" we were immediately compensated. The prices have of course increased here, as everywhere else, but the quality is very high. We would have liked a little more side dish to fill you up (so maybe a slightly larger potato or a larger bread). But otherwise it was very, very good!

The blockhouse right on the market is also well attended at lunchtime. Things get busy right at 12 o'clock, but the service handles it routinely. We had a very attentive and friendly lady who brought us our food quickly. Everything was delicious.

The food is Block House standard, so really ok. The same applies to the ambience. It's difficult to stand out at a "chain" because everything is standardized, ambience and recipes. What should be highlighted at Block House-Harburg is the friendliness of the employees.

Very friendly staff, and fast service. I dropped in here without a reservation looking for a good meal after a day of train travel to Hamburg and I was not disappointed! The filet mignon was excellent, as well as the complementary baked potato and garlic bread with sour cream. The salad, included as a starter in the menu, was very fresh, with lots of different veggies, some seeds and a nice dressing. The chocolate lava cake I had for dessert was served with a nice tart berry coulis. Compliments!

We had a company dinner on August 24th. The service employee assigned to us did not do his job well. With his pen fidgeting, he waits demandingly for the drinks to be ordered. I then said that we obviously need another moment. The drink order went well shortly afterwards, but when he asked to order the food, it was very (!!) important to him where to start at the table, so that there was a clear direction when the food was served that everyone knew from the kitchen. He looked energetically at the colleague who was supposed to order, but she was overwhelmed and didn't come up with anything. He gave her another 2 minutes and left the table instead of continuing to the next one. The pressure for the colleague was difficult to bear. However, the food didn't come in the order but was completely mixed up, which made the pressure he put on his colleague absurd. He didn't ask if we wanted any other drinks, just pointed out coffee. He laid out the dessert menus, which we also ordered and ate, still no mention of drinks. Overall, we took our time eating and in between, which he responded with loud clapping and a "so!" tried to get rid of us somehow. We asked for the bill and were told that it should be paid by card. He put the EC device next to the bill and asked what we should do with it. I quoted the exact price! He really doesn't deserve a tip! He looked at me and made me repeat. I said it's a company dinner and we're not allowed to tip. He reluctantly took the sum. Shortly afterwards he spoke to his colleagues that he was about to throw us Rigeros out... Begging for a tip like that after such poor hospitality is simply unbelievable. Unfortunately, this wasn't the first bad experience here either. In November we had to watch as a young waitress was folded up in the dining room and was not allowed to come out to wipe her tears, telling her to pull herself together and keep working. When I left, I told her not to get angry. I just felt sorry for her. Nobody should have to cry in front of customers! This is humiliating! After all, the food is amazing! We regularly eat here before or after every concert or musical. The staff is extremely accommodating and always extremely friendly. That alone makes it worth going there. ☺️

At the Blockhouse in Harburg I only ever get one steak: 12oz. Masterpiece. The pride of the butchers. Incredibly perfectly grilled and very good in taste. Of course there are also other delicacies such as the hamburger, a poem. The service is very attentive and courteous. I'd love to go back here!

We were able to go today without making a reservation. We have been to a BLOCK HOUSE in Berlin before, so we expected the same crowds, but it was very quiet. Hospitably received and helped quickly. A few minutes later the salad was already on the table! The meat quickly followed once we finished the salad. It was very hot outside, inside there was no air conditioning or fan to be seen, but nevertheless it was a great experience! We spent €69.50 for the Mrs Rumpsteak, Fanta, Rib-Eye Mastercut and a Weizen.
