Steakhouse Hamburg MASH in Hamburg

Unfortunately, it's overhyped. The food is expensive, but the quality, at least during our visit, is no better than buying meat from a supermarket that you can grill yourself. The owner also deletes reviews instead of addressing the justified criticism. The time between ordering and arrival was just 10 minutes. The fries were crispy and delicious, but we expect more from "truffle fries" than simple fries and truffle mayo. The "Pommes" Anna (French Fries) were a disappointment, bland in taste, and they didn't come with fries, but rather a cross between lasagna and gratin. The salad was okay. The service deserves special mention; at least the male staff was very courteous and dedicated. While they weren't particularly knowledgeable about the differences in meat when asked questions, they were very friendly and keen to leave a happy guest with a good review at the end of the visit. After many fine-dining steakhouses in Berlin, Munich, New York, and other European countries, Mash unfortunately ranks lower due to the steaks. Too bad.

At first, we were very impressed. A very polite, young man served us very attentively. Unfortunately, there was a shift change shortly afterward, which we didn't even notice. After sitting for more than 30 minutes in front of empty plates and glasses, we had to raise our voices several times. It would be nice if all guests were treated equally. Therefore, unfortunately, no full rating. The food, however, was very good!

One of "the" steakhouses in Hamburg. You can really go all out in the evening, but you'll have to pay a few euros for Kobe, dry-aged, etc. But you can also have a delicious lunch for a modest price.

Service: top-notch Decor: top-notch Location: top-notch Food: FLOP! I was there last Tuesday. I ordered my steak medium and it was almost cooked. The Pommes Anna and the Caesar salad were bland. The truffle fries tasted like they'd been reheated in the deep fryer. The bread and drinks were good, but definitely not enough to justify a €450 bill.

My wife and I wanted to have a fancy meal during our weekend in Hamburg and decided on Mash. The service was fantastic and so attentive. To go with our two fillets, which were cooked to perfection as ordered, we ordered a bottle of wine, and we received excellent advice (we were able to sample various wines before deciding on a bottle). I didn't even have to refill the wine myself, as a member of staff immediately saw that our glasses were almost empty and refilled them for us. The side dishes were also very delicious, and the dessert was simply fantastic. The only thing I would have wished for is that the plate on which the steak was served wasn't completely bare, but rather had a few small side dishes on it (grilled corn on the cob, for example). Otherwise, we were completely satisfied and will definitely come back when we're back in Hamburg. We paid approximately €250 for two fillet steaks, two side dishes, a bottle of wine, and two desserts.

The quality of the meat was first-class. The cooking was as desired. The service was very friendly but a bit too pushy.

The value for money is outrageous. The food was tasteless, even the dry-aged ribeye was tough and disappointing in quality – completely overrated and not worth the price at all. The side dishes were irrelevant and bland. Overall, everything seemed like a failed attempt at "fine dining." The only positive point: the waitress was friendly. Hence one star – no matter how hard you try, it's as good as it gets.

Disappointing – Value for Money is Absolutely Not Right Unfortunately, my visit to Mesh Hamburg was disappointing. The tuna tartare looked okay, but tasted nothing special. The carpaccio seemed carelessly seasoned, very bland, and lacked any special touch. The dry-aged rib-eye steak, which I was particularly looking forward to, was okay, but far from a culinary highlight – I've definitely had much better steaks in Hamburg. Above all, the value for money just isn't right here. For these prices, I expect significantly more quality and flavor. There are restaurants in Hamburg like the Meatery or the Heritage that show how it can be done better – both culinary and overall. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it.

We had made a reservation at Mash using our Taste Twelve book. The food was very tasty, the steaks well cooked. But the prices for starters (a vegetarian soup was almost €20?) and despite the extensive wine list, there was hardly any rosé on offer or it was very overpriced (4/5 in some cases). The service was too intermittent for us; we had up to 4 or even 5 different people in total, which was a bit excessive, and no one could really give us their full attention. The starter was brought before we even had our wine, which is unacceptable. Our table was at the back of the restaurant and in a booth, so it does offer a certain amount of "peace," but we would have preferred to have the choice ourselves.

Very, very tasty meat! We came here for dinner with a company. The only negative points: it was very, very loud when it filled up. We sat at a round table in the bar area. It was okay at first, but later it was almost impossible to hold a conversation. It was much worse in the other room. And the second negative point I have to mention is the Béarnaise sauce, which was very thick and had far too much egg. Apart from that, I have only positive things to say, especially the service was outstanding! The young lady served the eight of us nicely, friendly, and with a sense of humor. The meat and side dishes were excellent, and we received very good advice. If not with the company, then I'll definitely be back on my own!

I come here often and I really enjoy it! The steak selection is top-notch and varied, the preparation is excellent. Whether it's Akune Gold, dry-aged ribeye, or US Prime Strip - you always get outstanding quality! The sides, sauces, and cocktails are also top-notch. The service is very attentive and accommodating, the ambiance modern and luxurious. Even in very casual attire, you as a guest are not judged, but feel pleasantly welcome and appreciated. Compared to many other steakhouses in Germany, Mash is in the top league for me, and dinner is always a must for any visit to Hamburg. My recommendation for a visit for two: Negroni with Danish ribeye US bone-in ribeye Japanese Wagyu A5 Side dishes include Sauce-gratinated spinach, mushrooms, and wild broccoli Alternatively, the Mash World Tour is also highly recommended. A truly harmonious restaurant! I would like to be able to expect this quality everywhere in Germany!

Since our table wasn't immediately available, we were asked to go to the stylish bar first. There we were given a drink of our choice to bridge the short waiting time - on the house, of course. An attentive and at the same time generous introduction that set the tone for the rest of the evening. After we were escorted to our table, everything continued pleasantly quickly. The menu impresses with a clear, high-quality product selection with a focus on premium meat - not an overloaded offering, but a confident eye for the essentials. The starter was already a hit in terms of taste: precisely seasoned, excellently presented and prepared to perfection. Here you can feel the signature of a kitchen that focuses on both quality and sophistication. This level was exceeded again in the main course. The steak - perfectly cooked, with a strong Maillard reaction, tender and juicy on the inside - impressively demonstrated that MASH not only maintains its meat competence, but lives it. The side dishes - whether creamy mashed potatoes, crispy vegetables or spicy sauces - were harmoniously composed and complemented the meat in an excellent way without stealing the stage. The service also deserves the highest praise: present, attentive, professionally trained and at the same time pleasantly unobtrusive. People asked regularly and at the right time whether everything was satisfactory or whether wishes remained unfulfilled - a matter of course in the upper segment, which is lived here with genuine hospitality. The dessert rounded off the evening - solid craftsmanship, excellent taste and with a well-thought-out finish that skilfully balanced sweetness and texture. Conclusion: MASH Hamburg stands for modern steakhouse culture at the top level. High-quality products, precise preparation, a harmonious ambience and a service that knows what it is doing. MASH is a clear recommendation for everyone who appreciates good meat and gastronomic craftsmanship. We'll definitely be back.

Im MASH waren wir an einem Sonntagmittag. Von den vielen Tischen waren während unseres Aufenthalts maximal vier besetzt. Die Tische standen recht weit auseinander, was einen großzügigen Eindruck vermittelt. Das Ambiente wirkte amerikanisch-luxuriös. Geschmacksache. Das Steak war perfekt. Der Lachs war solide. Der Tasty Burger war nur "ok" - gutes Fleisch und gutes Brötchen, aber insgesamt blass und langweilig im Geschmack, denn die Aromen der einzelnen Zutaten verschmolzen zu einem undefinierbaren Matsch. Gut abgeschmeckt und schön pikant - aber nicht übertrieben pikant - waren die Süßkartoffel-Fritten. Der Service war aufmerksam und professionell. Die Hygieneräume wirkten und funktionierten tadellos.

The steak was perfect. The salmon was solid. The Tasty Burger was just "okay" - good meat and good bun, but overall pale and boring in taste, because the flavors of the individual ingredients merged into an indefinable mush. The sweet potato fries were well seasoned and nicely spicy - but not overly spicy. The service was attentive and professional.

The food at Mash is always really tasty and absolutely worth the price. I come here at least once a month to eat the best steak in Hamburg. The side dishes are also an absolute highlight. A 100% recommendation from me for anyone who appreciates meat. It is also highly recommended to come at lunchtime. It's much quieter there and the lunch menu is always good.

Exceptional restaurant. Super tasty, very nice service, nice atmosphere. The quality of the meat is excellent. There is also no pressure to clear the table after an hour like in some other restaurants. However, everything is not exactly cheap. Nevertheless, you should definitely treat yourself to it. We were disappointed with the price-performance ratio for dessert. You can really save yourself that. You should budget around €100 per person.

If you don't try this, you're really missing out. An absolute 10/10

April 2025 Update- MASH keep asking Google to remove this complaint because they think it is fake or a lie. I have provided verification of my reservation and Google are satisfied its a genuine review. Makes me question how many negative reviews they have succeeded in having removed because they don't like what people are saying. MASH have never contacted me to discuss my experience, which happened to be on my birthday. Rude and unfriendly host. We arrived and waited at the door for 5 minutes until someone greeted us. The host seemed annoyed that we had arrived early and rather than ushering us to the bar to wait for our table he abruptly cut us off to talk to someone else. We reserved Mash for a birthday treat but after this rude service was not prepared to spend €100+ when we were clearly an inconvenience. Instead we went to the Thai restaurant next door where the staff couldn’t have been more opposite to the unfriendly experience at Mash.

Another update: After I successfully defended myself against the deletion of my review due to alleged defamation, they now tried to accuse me of defaming the restaurant with my review. I successfully objected to the deletion again and have now reported the restaurant for false suspicion and slander. Update: MASH tried to have this review deleted and accused me of defamation on Google, which I had to go to great lengths to counter. This further reduces the overall impression, which is why I am reducing my rating from two to one star. The two of us had dinner at MASH last night and unfortunately we didn't get much out of the experience. After we sat down outside, we were ignored for almost half an hour. In the meantime, three more tables were served, received the cards, ordered, and received the drinks. At some point I had to get up and ask a waiter for the menus. After the drinks came, it felt like an eternity before the food order was taken. Every interaction with the staff was extremely difficult. Actually, in restaurants in this price range, making eye contact and nodding to the waiter should be enough. The only thing that helped here was to wave frantically with your outstretched arm or just stand up and personally fetch the employee to the seat. The steak (ordered medium) was a little more than medium well, the burger was dry because there was almost no sauce. At best the fries were convincing. Our criticism of the quality was met with an apologetic “I’ll let the kitchen know, better next time.” I had relied on the good reviews when I made the reservation - but upon closer reading I discovered that the owners are taking action against negative reviews, which has probably led to them being deleted in many cases. In this respect, I will keep my invoice as proof of my actual visit to MASH.

Unfortunately, our visit to the MASH Steakhouse was overall a disappointment. Even though we had reserved weeks in advance, we were not greeted particularly warmly - the service at the reception left a lot to be desired. Our waitress in charge seemed annoyed and inattentive, even speaking with her mouth full, which left an unpleasant impression. The steak - which tastes really excellent - and the stylish ambience of the restaurant should be positively highlighted. However, we sat directly under a vent, which made it very cold. Despite asking, we were not offered another place. In another area of ​​the restaurant we observed that the service there was much more attentive and friendly. Overall, we were disappointed - especially considering the price level. Unfortunately, the food alone couldn't save the overall impression.

The crème de la crème of steakhouses! My evening at Mesh will stay with me for a long time – from the atmosphere to the service to the food, everything was simply perfect. We visited spontaneously on a summer evening and luckily got a table. Although we were a bit underdressed, we received a very friendly welcome. The menu offers an exclusive selection of high-quality meats, and I opted for Wagyu, while my companion chose a classic steak (sadly, I can't remember which one). For sides, I ordered creamy mashed potatoes, while my companion opted for a tomato salad and fries. A special highlight: the raw meat was presented to us before it was cooked – an impressive detail that underscores the quality of the products. Just a few minutes later, our food was served. The sight itself was a delight, and the aroma of the perfectly cooked meat immediately made us want to take the first bite. As for the taste? An absolute experience. The tomato salad was by far the best I've ever eaten. The meat? At a level of taste that's hard to beat. The mashed potatoes were velvety, buttery, and incredibly delicate. The desserts were also a dream – especially the chocolate cake, which has remained in my memory ever since. As for the price, everyone has to decide for themselves whether it's worth it – for me, it was an unforgettable experience, and the price was absolutely irrelevant. If I'm ever in Hamburg again, I'll definitely return!

I recently visited the MASH in Hamburg and overall I was very satisfied. The location offers a great atmosphere – perfect for a special evening. The restaurant has a stylish, cozy atmosphere that invites you to linger. I was particularly impressed by the quality of the meat: my steak was perfectly prepared, juicy and tasted excellent. The side dishes were also well coordinated and beautifully presented. Unfortunately, the beef carpaccio didn't suit my taste at all. The service was friendly and professional. All in all a great steakhouse with high quality and a nice atmosphere. A little tweak to the beef carpaccio and it would be perfect! Therefore 4 out of 5 stars.

Vine como un grupo de 14 amigos para una fiesta de despedida. La mitad del grupo quería el menú de tablas de carne que se ofrecía, con un montón de varios cortes de carne. La mitad del grupo quería algo del menú estándar. Nadie preguntó si queríamos una bebida durante toda nuestra visita, repetidamente preguntamos si podíamos pedir bebidas, alguien tomó el pedido, nunca vimos esas bebidas durante aproximadamente media hora después de preguntar repetidamente dónde estaban. La comida tardó una hora y media en salir. Los del grupo que pidieron el plato de carne recibieron su comida una media hora antes que el resto de nosotros, supongo que porque el plato de carne costó unos 1500€ entre las siete, mientras que el nuestro era solo el menú normal. A lo largo de la hora y media, el personal siguió olvidando lo que habíamos pedido y siguió poniendo comidas en frente de nosotros que no habíamos pedido, luego vino y se las llevó a otras mesas. Esto pasó varias veces. No estábamos seguros de si deberíamos comer o no. La comida en sí era bastante sosa, especialmente teniendo en cuenta el costo. Casi 45 € por una hamburguesa con patatas fritas! El personal parecía absolutamente desinteresado. Incluso el cheque llegó nos habían cobrado de más varios cientos de euros por cosas que no recibimos que no había pedido. Modificaron el cheque pero agregaron otras cosas que no habíamos pedido. Meat wasn't cooked through! Not recommended

Today we went to MASH and I have to say, the disappointment was greater than my hunger for a perfect steak! The waitress was so emotionless, she could have been working as a refrigerator. Our steaks were so raw, they could almost have chatted with us - I swear, I feel like they've just chewed the grass! A small, well-intentioned tip: If you don't have the capacity to break your fast, then don't do it. It was a real mess, like a cookbook had ended up in the blender. The guests who ordered the Ramadan menu were treated like the last piece of bread - as if we were not all equal guests! Overall, it was an experience that tasted more like a bad joke than a fine dinner. Maybe next time just put a little more love into the food and service!

Service maximum 2 stars, never experienced such emotionless, blunt service. It's a good thing that there is a cool service in the store, but the older lady is absolutely underground. In general, the service staff seemed very stressed. Ordered my steak medium well and received it raw like it was fresh from the meat counter. Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo. I grilled it again. Then you had to wait another 15 minutes. Maybe I'll give the store another chance in a few months.

This restaurant wanted to, but couldn't. Always tried hard, the steaks were of great quality and were grilled to perfection. The starters were overpriced for the portion sizes, some were well seasoned, some were bland and tasteless, such as the tartare. Some of the side dishes were still cold (spinach au gratin) or lackluster, such as the truffle fries or the chili fries. The service tried hard, but basically forgot or didn't bring half of it. We then got drinks on the house several times, etc. That was nice, but given the positive overall rating of 4.7 so far and the price level, as a guest you would expect something different and a much more satisfying experience.

Sorry, that was nothing. I called a day in advance to reserve a table for two. No problem, come by, you may have to wait 5 minutes at the bar. Arrived on time, unfriendly reception, briefly went to the bar, after 10 minutes I asked when the table would be free, then again it was a maximum of 5 minutes (there were another 4-5 couples waiting. After 35 more minutes we left. No apology - unfortunately this shop will never see me again. We then went to the Tex BBQ in the neighborhood. Delicious food and friendly people

It was once again a real pleasure to eat steak here. You can taste the quality with every bite. We were also given very attentive advice on wine recommendations. Visit this restaurant. It's worth it. My personal disappointment is that I had reserved and announced that we had a birthday child with us. Unfortunately, there was neither a small candle nor a champagne/schnapps etc. as a token of attention.

We went to Mash for the first time today and were totally thrilled. I've never eaten meat as tender as this. The food is incredibly tasty and of the best quality. The service is friendly and quick. The small negative point are the women's toilets. There was a lot of toilet paper on the floor here.

A 10 out of 10 on all points. Except the side dishes, which could perhaps be a little better.

The beef fillet and the tartare are highly recommended. The side dishes and the cheesecake tasted a bit bland. There is an elegant ambience that invites you to linger. The service seemed very cold and stressed, be it the gentleman who showed us the seat as well as the waiter. In this price segment I expect better service even if it is stressful.

There were two of us at MASH today. The food is bomb, the ambience is incredible, but above all the service is first class, many thanks to Laith, great host, thank you for the great evening.
