Unfortunately the quality today was not what we are used to, the salad was drowned in dressing, the potato had the consistency of mashed potatoes, and the medium steak we ordered was more like English.

Everything was very good. Reservations are required.

Yesterday, we ordered the alternative menu of juicy rump steak with pepper sauce for three people. Some of the rump steak was as thin as a small slice of bread. The waitress's question, "Do you want it medium or medium-well," was superfluous. She should have asked, "Raw or fried." Honestly, I expect more from the Block House and was so annoyed that we didn't cancel the entire meal, but we had already eaten the salad.

The restaurant was very busy around 7 p.m., and some guests were unfortunately quite loud. But the food was very good and the staff very friendly and accommodating.

First of all, the food at Block House is generally – except for one brief episode in the late 1990s – of solid quality and well prepared. Unfortunately, the service today – which is usually quite good – was disastrous. And since we were there today to celebrate my daughter's first day of school with the family, it was the worst possible day for such a blunder. We ordered two rib-eye mastercuts, two filet medallions with vegetables, and a Magic Burger. Instead of the two filet medallions with vegetables, we got two filet mignon. You might say that sounds similar. But at the very latest, when we ordered salad with the filet medallions, the waiter said, "It's included," and we asked him why, since it wouldn't be included otherwise, the waiter should have asked if they had perhaps misunderstood the order. When we asked about the incorrect dishes, the answer was, "No, that's what you ordered!" and arrogantly offered that we could have a potato gratin later – that would be on the house, too. Surprise: If I serve the wrong dishes for €10 more than the order, I don't yell at guests, and it certainly isn't "on the house." Instead, the good man can be glad we didn't make him clear the table and serve it again – we certainly won't be so accommodating next time. Perhaps the colleague who also rudely told the woman at the next table that she shouldn't interrupt while he was taking an order was simply having a bad day. But for us, it spoiled the day, and the two-star overall rating is only because this was a one-off experience.

Because the restaurant is located right at an intersection, it's very noisy outside. The waitress seemed constantly stressed and in a bad mood! The food was okay.

In a very nice pub, we tasted a little, I would say very good chips and beer, but they should be kinder to the customers and more with the smile especially with foreigners. It's already difficult to understand the language 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's about price increases: "...I have to wait a long time for service at other establishments," he says. I'm a restaurateur myself, and yes, we have to raise our prices. But pointing the finger at other colleagues isn't polite. We're all trying our best!! Perhaps a bit poorly worded here. I'm also wondering... If you ordered an appetizer instead of the salad, there was a surcharge of €3. The appetizer was correspondingly smaller. Totally fine. Crabs, for example, They're no longer available... (I understand, but it's still a shame ;-)) Now, instead of a surcharge, the guest is CHARGED the difference between the price of the appetizer and the price of the 3-euro starter. ``` So if you order a Caesar's salad first instead of salad, you now pay an additional €9 instead of €3. Welcome to 1980, a classic with consistent quality

I've been visiting the Block House Wandsbek regularly with a friend for 15 years now. We're always very satisfied and almost feel like we're in "our living room." The food is always delicious and high-quality. Although the prices have obviously changed a bit over the years. The barbecue steak plate was once available for €9.70, which is a sign of the times 😉 The service and the team at this Block House are very consistent (they seem to enjoy working here 😊). Everyone is always very polite and accommodating. You feel very welcome. We'll definitely be coming back for many years to come! Thank you very much!

It was a very nice lunch and our baby loved watching the kitchen. The staff was very nice and kind. My steak was perfectly medium rare but they missed the mark on my wife’s steak and it came out medium well. Still a great meal. Since we were seated close to the kitchen the noise levels weren’t exactly low but we could still talk without raising our voice and the location allowed us to keep the stroller right at the table. Our daughter had a blast watching the cooks :) Will eat here again :)

Whether it's the daily special or the à la carte menu... always on point. The entire staff is excellent, and the best part for us: we feel more than welcome, even with our dogs. We love coming here and come regularly!

Overall, everything was good. The service was occasionally stressed, and mistakes were occasionally made. Nevertheless, the atmosphere remained friendly and very accommodating. The food, as with most Block House branches, was very good.

Unfortunately, the price/performance ratio was very disappointing. The meat was good, but the side dishes were a disaster. Shriveled potatoes with a teaspoon of sour cream, served with a soggy salad. For that price, you can get much better food elsewhere and should expect more. But unfortunately, that's a general problem with Block House.

We spontaneously stopped by Blockhaus Wandsbek early in the evening on a weekday. After disappointing visits a long time ago, we wanted to give the restaurant another chance. The restaurant was only a third full. A friendly welcome, the menu came immediately, food and drinks were quickly ordered, and drinks and salads were served promptly. And then... waiting, waiting, and more waiting. All the new guests at other tables who arrived after us were already receiving their main courses. After more than half an hour, our main courses arrived, and three minutes later, as we walked by, I rhetorically asked if everything was okay. My shaking head with my mouth full went unnoticed. The meat was very good and served to the ordered degree of doneness. The pepper sauce, in my opinion, had far too much alcohol in it, and the seasonal vegetables were mushy and bland (I'm not sure if they were frozen or fresh). In the meantime, a request for more drinks? No response. At some point, the waitress came to clear the plates, again with the rhetorical question of whether everything was okay. I had asked if there was a problem in the kitchen, given how long we'd been waiting. She didn't answer; instead, she noted the vegetables she'd left lying around and asked why I hadn't called sooner. That sounds funny, because the waitress had barely even glanced at our table for a long time. I told her about her full mouth when she asked, and she offered me an espresso to make up for it. Thank you for that. The one espresso arrived, as did the dessert menu. Our request for the bill was apparently ignored by the waitress, and no one even bothered to ask if we wanted dessert. Eventually, we were able to make ourselves known again and ask for the bill. The restaurant took almost 1.5 hours to serve the little we had. The other guests seemed to have better luck; we were very disappointed. If something doesn't work out or takes longer, it's not a problem. Leaving guests waiting for ages in a half-full restaurant without any information costs us revenue and tips. We would have liked more drinks or dessert, but we don't have three hours for that. Unfortunately, this restaurant visit was disappointing. Although this Block House is closer, we'll go to Bergedorf instead, as we've only had good experiences there so far.

The rustic decor of the Blockhaus branches is present here. The meat was perfectly prepared, but I found the side dish a bit too small. The waitresses were very friendly, although the server on duty changed constantly.

I've been coming here every now and then for decades. The food is very good, but in my opinion, the prices are now way too high. First, the potatoes got smaller and smaller, now the bread; the fries were also very limited. Now another price increase. I get more for less at other steakhouses with at least the same quality. The service, with its constant questions, bordered on nuisance. It's a shame.

Really good food at a fair price and friendly service.

Everything was great – except for one unpleasant moment on Saturday around 4:30 p.m. An employee (she was blonde with red nails and worked in the middle of the kitchen) who generally did her job well, unfortunately behaved very inappropriately at the end. We only had a rounded-up amount of cash left, to which she simply replied with a less than professional smile: "Only xxx?!" We added our last change, and I would have loved to take it back. That was a very unprofessional moment that unfortunately tarnished the positive impression. This kind of behavior is unacceptable – especially when dealing with customers. How you treat us makes a big difference – and perhaps it will also encourage guests to tip more next time or pay by card instead.

There were three of us there yesterday, May 13th, 2025, at 6 p.m. The food was almost as usual, the ribey was too marbled but it was okay but the rest was good, we sat outside and the floor and the windowsills were all dirty. My dog ​​didn't want to lie down, the floor was so dirty, really bad. We actually like coming here and will come more often. It would be great if we could sit outside without the floor being so dirty.

Disappointing! The service was extremely slow and our waitress seemed slightly unmotivated. We only got drinks shortly before dinner. We had been sitting there for a while. The portion of asparagus came with three mini potatoes (triplets). Unfortunately, the last piece of the steak was very fibrous and not edible. We told the service staff this when we asked. There was a “You should have said that sooner.” We neither expected nor wanted a new steak, but a “sorry” or an offer for a drink or dessert would have been appreciated. All in all very disappointing and especially for our son's birthday... Conclusion. We have always enjoyed visiting her house regularly for many years, but after this unpleasant experience we will refrain from doing so for the time being. With all due respect for the difficult situation of the shortage of skilled workers, I considered writing this review, but we are very concerned about the whole thing and, as long-time guests, are extremely disappointed.

Block House Wandsbek – Solid chain with room for improvement This fairly generously sized branch of the Block House chain is located directly on Wandsbeker Marktstrasse and offers the usual standard: solid steaks, classic side dishes, and a consistent menu. The quality of the dishes is decent at best - but it depends heavily on who is at the grill at the time. If everything fits, you will get a well-cooked steak at the desired doneness. Unfortunately, this is more the exception than the rule. Whether at peak times or when the restaurant is half empty, it often happens that the meat is not prepared as ordered - and especially in quiet times you have to wait a surprisingly long time, often 30 minutes or more. The ambience is fine – at least at the front of the window. Further back in the restaurant it quickly becomes dark and a bit crowded. The feeling of “sitting in the basement” is not uncommon. The outdoor area with around five tables is located directly on the busy market street - if you like a street atmosphere, you might find a place in the sun here. Conclusion: If you know what to expect, you will get a classic block house experience with occasional fluctuations in quality and service. OK for an uncomplicated steak – but nothing more.

I ate very well – the food was consistently delicious. I had a ribeye steak that was cooked to perfection. It took a while because it was busy, but it was definitely worth the wait. As a small compensation, the friendly waitress even gave us Block House pepper - a nice gesture! The salad was fresh, the French dressing was by far the best I've had so far. The garlic bread is a must here – crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, just perfect. The baked potato with sour cream was also a highlight – really creamy and super seasoned. Overall, a thoroughly successful visit. I'd love to come back!

We ended up here quite by chance (because the Blockhouse on Jungfernstieg was completely overcrowded on Easter Saturday). As always at Blockhouse, the food and service were very good. Because the store was only at medium capacity, our food came super quickly. Price-performance at Blockhouse is still very good thanks to the all-inclusive steak prices. At other restaurants you are always asked to pay extra for side dishes and here steak and baked potatoes/fries are included in the price. The only drawback: the toilets have a bit of a train station charm, but that doesn't detract from the very good overall impression (at least for me). 😃👍🏻

For years, BLOCK HOUSE Wandsbek has been our favorite spot to celebrate birthdays, and it never disappoints! I've been a Blockhaus customer for many years, but what I experienced on Saturday evening, March 22, 2025, around 7 p.m. in Wandsbek was so outrageous that I will never set foot in that restaurant again. Thanks to a waitress (an older, corpulent Turkish woman with braids), the quality of the meat that evening was not good. My steak, which weighed just under 800 grams, was covered in tendons. After several attempts to eat it, I gave up after about halfway through and left it. The young manager was very friendly and accommodating. Thank you for that. Unfortunately, there was no table available with our regular waiter, Alban, whom we have come to appreciate over the years. All the best to you.

Der Service war hervorragend und das Essen wurde schnell an den Tisch gebracht. Wir hatten ein T Bone Steak und ein Filet Steak . Die Steaks waren auf den Punkt gebraten. Wir waren sehr sehr zufrieden und für den guten Service gab es von uns ein gutes Trinkgeld.

Located directly at Wandsbek bus station. Parking spaces nearby are free for 2 hours, but are usually full. The food wasn't the highlight. The meat was good but the vegetable side dish was a bit tiny. The garlic bread was also small and not so crispy. The ambience is ok. Very loud when fully occupied.
