Review for Heinz Hermann wine bar: A culinary disaster with unfriendly service
If you go to a wine bar with high expectations of good food and friendly service, you will unfortunately be taught otherwise at the Heinz Hermann wine bar. My visit there was not only a culinary disappointment, but also an unexpected spectacle of rude hospitality.
We had decided on the menu, but my friend's slight uncertainty about dessert caused an unpleasant incident. Instead of responding to our polite request, the waiter became loud and rude. His claim that my girlfriend didn't order a menu was not only false but also a blatant excuse to charge us for the full dessert. So we ended up with a bill of almost 200 euros - for a menu that costs 59 euros per person.
The way we were treated by this gentleman was simply unacceptable. Instead of taking care of the guests' concerns, they were blocked several times and confronted with rude rudeness. Such behavior is completely out of place in the catering industry and spoils the entire experience.
If you're looking for a relaxed dinner with good food and, above all, friendly service, you'd better stay away from Heinz Hermann Weinlokal. There are many other places where you are valued not only for your money but also for your respect as a guest.
I have never commented on going to a restaurant. However, even now, after a night of "sleeping on it", I am still in awe of the "unforgettable evening" at La Bussola.
It was supposed to be a nice meal with my partner. We experienced total chaos in the service (5x "ehhh did you order that..?"), one meal was finally one that WE ordered. I then asked for the name of the manager and asked for the bill. After 15 minutes the “managing director” came in, completely unmotivated, completely overwhelmed and seemed like a little boy. No real apology..nothing..nothing at all. After another 10 minutes, I was finally allowed to pay the full bill (they didn't charge for the food I didn't eat 🙏).
A really great evening. Many thanks to the team la bussola.. without words.. Or at least
Very friendly staff, excellent food 👍.
Unfortunately, I had to complain about the Kölsch beer once because it was significantly under the recommended limit. At €4.50 per Kölsch, that's something you should be careful about! The waitress, of course, didn't like that at all 🤷♀️.
Very loud background noise.
In the northwest of Cologne, next to Motorworld, next to V8 Hotel, parking is very convenient, there are many seats
The restaurant has many seats, but even if it is not a holiday, the seats are still very tight, it is recommended to reserve in advance
Swiss-style barbecue, you can control the doneness of the meat on the heated rocks yourself, the quality of the meat is very good, the eye of the meat is recommended, because this kind of meat has fat parts, it can be well grilled on the hot stones without burning
The price is expensive, but it is worth it
The only disadvantage is that the table is small, the oil will splash, and when there are many people in the restaurant, there is no strong smoke extraction equipment, so it is easy to have a lot of smoke
The food was delicious and fresh; we were very satisfied. The waitress, a gentleman named Kambiz, was also very attentive and friendly. If something was missing, it came within a minute.
Very friendly and courteous service. The brewery has been renovated inside, but still has its good old charm and invites you to linger. The food is delicious. Good German cuisine. Regardless of whether you're eating or just having a few Kölsch at the counter, you'll be warmly welcomed here.
Really bad service. They forgot to grt us water two times and then the waiter tried to tell us the water was not drinkable which is obviously false.
obvious Tourist trap, avoid
Pub and bar hopping around the wonderful Huemarkt we decided to drop into Starnberger Alm and what a great find.
Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here, interior is superb, pine wood features abound throughout the tavern, wonderful decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout this tavern both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling Huemarkt that when we visited in late December was packed with the famous Huemarkt Christmas Market in full swing.
We sat outside were we ordered their own brewed helles beer ,these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and we just kicked back and took in the great tavern we were in .
My beer was really good, a golden, light and hoppy lager style beer bursting with taste and very easy to drink especially when served freezing cold as in this tavern, it was just so good being in such a lovely tavern enjoying a quality brew and sat with my twin brother, best beer companion in the world.
We really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to Starnberger Alm we had a great time.
Starnberger Alm is easy to locate on Huemarkt, in my opinion one of the most beautiful square's in Cologne.
Opening hours are;
Monday to Sunday, open from midday.
Well worth checking out if you're in the Old Town of Cologne.
Operation is already extremely overwhelmed when the workload is low. After our drinks (two draft beers) weren't served after over 20 minutes, we left. We didn't receive a menu.
