Visited this brewery during our visit to Cologne. The food was good, the beer cold and excellent. The service was impeccable, the cleanliness of the premises, including the toilets, was impeccable.

The best choice if you want to eat in one of the numerous breweries in Cologne city center. In addition to the food, the service was super nice and accommodating. We'll definitely be back.

Has vegan schnitzel and really great Kasse Spätzle if you are vegetarian. Waiter’s and waitress were all very nice. It’s across from the Rathaus in a lovely quiet square.

As an East Asian customer, I felt uncomfortable with the service at this restaurant. On Thursday (22.08) afternoon, when I approached the white waiter who was facing directly outward from the door, he initially avoided eye contact and turned to the other direction despite the restaurant being mostly empty. After I greeted him, he turned around and acted surprised. When I asked for an extra spoon (Löffel), the waiter turned to an adjacent white female customer and both laughed at me. The waiter even pointed to his ear (as if I said Löffel incorrectly), but he did not look confused or ask any follow-up questions, which made the laughter feel mocking instead of confusion. I know I pronounced it correctly, as "oe" in German is similar to "eu" in French. This behavior was unprofessional and disrespectful. Additionally, when I asked to split the bill with my friend, the waiter initially refused, but complied after I insisted and asked why it wasn’t possible. He also just left without asking me if I wanted a receipt after I paid. I had to tell him I wanted my receipts. I hope other people of color and/or non-German speaking people think twice before they eat at this restaurant (if at all) unless the staff stop their racially-biased behaviors.

We sat nicely in the beer garden. Unfortunately I can't say anything about the food; the exorbitant prices stopped us from ordering. The service was attentive and quick, and the beer replenishment went smoothly. Now that the construction site disappears from under your nose, you can enjoy your Kölsch again with a view of the Altermarkt and town hall. Four stars.

The waiter was snappy and complained to another table because we couldn't speak German. It was surreal. I guess they only want German guests, even during Gamescom? It made no sense.

Great place in the old town of Cologne. Just a few minutes from the Rhine promenade. The seats on the market square are very nice and we ate very well. The portions are large and we enjoyed it very much.

They didn't let us sit inside, when it was completely empty. Outside we are near smokers, at a small table, very uncomfortable and we have hardly been attended to. Very rude service, expecting people who have never visited before to know the intricate details of where you can and can't sit, where to pay etc.. as if you are a mind reader, then facing abusive staff when trying to pay as if youre a shoplifter for giving them money

The Kölsch was great and the service was very, very friendly, quick and proactive. The kölsch was just empty then the next Hehr came.

What can you say other than SUUUUPER! Every time we are in Cologne (we come from Brandenburg a. der Havel), you are one of our regular pubs. Kölsch, food (Halve Hahn, Mettbrötchen, liver sausage bites, etc.) etc. simply fantastic. Your staff is always in good spirits! You can chatter and gossip really well 😁. To use our jargon: you guys are really crazy 👍💪

Fantastic food in a great location. Enjoyed local beer and German meals. A bit cold outside but manageable with the wind but would have been perfect on a summer day.

I was traveling in Cologne and I urgently needed to go to the toilet. The bouncer refused to let me go to the bathroom in the store. I also offered to pay for it, but also refused for no reason. The store reported my other review for defamation, with success.

A great restaurant. Our service was a hit - a Cologne veteran, I would say. Super open-minded and always present when needed. The food was very tasty. Small menu - a little bit of everything. Personally, I missed a bit of musical entertainment at the back of the bar.

After this post was reported for defamation, I am happy to justify the corresponding review. Neither the food nor the location as such are criticized here, but rather the outrageous service that we experienced there that evening. The behavior towards us as guests was very unfriendly and unacceptable for me. In addition, there were horrendous waiting times of over 60 minutes that were incomprehensible to us.

Although the food and service were good, I have to give a negative review. Although the waitress assured me after the last call that I could finish my beer in peace and then go to the toilet, the unfriendly bouncer refused to allow me to do so. Even though I drank and ate there, he pointed me straight to the public toilets, which had just been closed. He also lied by saying that the toilets were already closed because they had been cleaned. In fact, they were dirty and there were still empty cigarette packets lying around.

In all, started off ok. Food was quick and delicious. However, the young lady with glasses accused me of throwing beer mats. That then put a downer half way through the meal. The service then become slow. Smiles at tables near by but angry face when back at ours.

Schweinshaxe was off in the evening. Only one day stayed in German. Miss it. I don’t speak Germany. One waiter recommended beers. He and beer were very nice.

Cordonblue for €30, hardly any cheese or ham. Keller was annoyed when we asked and then just ignored us. When paying, Keller showed me the card reader with his finger and then left without a word. All in all, not a recommendation. My bad experience in Cologne so far

I ordered schnitzel with fried egg and fries. For the price of just under €20, the size of the schnitzel was a disgrace, and unfortunately it was dry.

Rip off!! 30€ for an “Original Wiener Schnitzel” and then that. Mini schnitzel and cold fries. Service was good.

Service was apparently overwhelmed or didn't feel like it, which is what I suspect... Starter and main course came at the same time... Were there with a bachelorette party, yes tiring but easy to deal with by experienced staff... In short: service lousy, food ok but tourism standard

The "Zum Prinzen" brewery is one of many breweries serving local Gaffel Kölsch beer that are worth visiting in Cologne. It is true that, depending on the day and mood, the staff may be very nice or tired, which unfortunately makes the customers feel or reacts to them. As for the food, there are nothing terrible on the menu (there are also local dishes), but the chef is not a virtuoso, so you should not expect exquisite dishes or appetizingly prepared meals. However, I recommend this place on Alter Markt, especially to drink a cool Gaffel on a hot, sunny day.

We were charged 2 extra beers for no reason, also 6 large beers were more extensive then on the card. service was unfriendly when we asked for extra information, we were scammed. Only positieve point is the location

Food was very good. Service was excellent. The place was very busy and we had to wait a few minutes for a table. Once seated, as busy as it was, we were able to talk and hear each other. Waiter was very helpful in choosing our meal.

Actually a great place. Went there to watch football yesterday at lunchtime. Then wanted to order food. Since there were four of us sitting at a small table, it was not possible to eat properly. I first wanted to add the small table at the entrance (only for eating / then we would have put it back) But the waitress said that wasn't possible. Even when my companion asked if we wanted another beer and I gave the waitress another sign with the fence post and I said: I have to eat something first... Didn't she get it? In my opinion she was completely incompetent for this job. We didn't finish watching the football game, but instead went to eat something in the extra paper next door. The shop is very good, but this waitress, absolute disaster!!!! Cost the restaurant €40/50….

Not quite as rustic as you might expect a brewery to be, but still very nice. Food completely okay, also price-wise. Drinks come quickly and with funny, relaxed sayings, especially when Linda is the waitress. We really liked it!

The food was average. Our waiter, a gentleman over 50, a bit chubby and spoke with an accent, was unprofessional. Our dirty table was not wiped over. When the gentleman brought our wreath with Kölsch, he simply slammed the wreath on the table and left. We had to take the beer out of the wreath ourselves and distribute it. When we asked him a question we were ignored. We didn't ask if we liked it. When everyone had finished eating but I was still eating, the waiter appeared, cleared the plates and grabbed my plate even though I was still eating!!! Annoyed, I mentioned that I was still eating. Again no one asked if it tasted good. They also didn't ask for dessert and didn't ask for new drinks. The waiter always took a long time to arrive. A bad waiter.

If you enjoy well-kept Kölsch, hearty food and enjoy watching an FC game, this is the right place for you! The prince also invites you to social gatherings at carnival!!!!

A great brewery that leaves nothing to be desired. Best location at the Alter Markt for either sitting outside or inside. Inside there are 3 areas: a traditional part at the front, the gallery above and a cozy, modern part a little further back. The staff is very accommodating and you are always served quickly. The Kölsch tastes excellent and the atmosphere is simply great. In addition, you can watch the 1. FC Köln games there live and at no extra charge. This is no longer a given in times of various streaming providers. The best thing about it is a person at the entrance to the brewery who always kindly makes sure that everything stays in order and that every guest feels comfortable, even if things get heated on the lawn or you may have drunk one or two Kölsch too many. Absolute recommendation and should be planned for every visit to Cologne's old town :)

Charged us €3 per beer (I had menu infront of me, it should have been €2.30 each). Made us pay after each round despite the fact in Köln generally pay at the end. He allowed other tables around us to tally up beers on beer mat and pay at the end (as per Köln). Told I must pay cash, otherwise if I pay card I must give him a €4 tip.

I was only there at carnival, I can't say what it's like otherwise! At carnival it's just great, everyone is very nice and helpful, even the guests are great Gaffel Kölsch greetings from Aschaffenburg Bavaria. I've heard that you can also eat great food when there's no carnival.

I am very shocked at how customers are treated. A guest was thrown out of the restaurant in front of my eyes with pure force and without any significant justification. There was also no consideration for other people present.

BIG RED FLAG!! You cannot pay by credit card in this place, only cash. After telling them that we don’t have cash, they said that in Germany you can’t pay with card anywhere, which is obviously false.

The service was above average unfriendly, even by Cologne standards. The food was meaningless, the sauerbraten was even extremely dry. We mentioned it locally that they wanted to pass it on to the kitchen. The guest room was quite cold. Overall, unfortunately not a recommendation, but in Cologne there doesn't seem to be any good cuisine in breweries anyway. We have always been disappointed.

We stopped in for dinner on a Thursday night before 8pm after a long day of sightseeing in the rain! The first thing we ordered was a cup of warm Glühwine with amoretto to take the chill off—and we’re very glad we did! We each had a very tasty authentic German meal with pork, mashed potatoes, sour, sauerkraut and brown gravy. The bar was lively and groups of people drinking Kölsch came and went. The service was excellent and friendly. Never a fan of paying to use the toilet.

Our hunger while shopping led us to the brewery. The food was very tasty and the portions were large. I have to admit, almost like Grandma's. So just great! Definitely 5/5 stars for the kitchen. We had our food pretty quickly and the cellar was also extremely friendly and nice. That's why we always enjoy it when we're in Cologne. Thanks for the delicious afternoon.

Very well located, the food is delicious and the service is pleasant. Reservations are essential. One star less for the high price and payment to use the bathroom.

A very cozy Cologne brewery. Our Köbes Manni was very attentive and friendly. As a pregnant woman, I didn't feel the least bit uncomfortable. The Kölsch came without being asked and the water glass at the table was also refilled. That's how it should be. The sauerbraten and the Wiener schnitzel tasted great and the portions were decent. Highly recommended, we would love to come back, with one more little person ;)

Service and ambience good. The sauerbraten was a complete disappointment. Roast and sauce no taste. Red cabbage as well. Dumplings hard. No reaction from the waiter. This was definitely my last visit to eat there.

Unfreundliche Personal, widerliches Essen. Zuerst wurden wir nicht ernst genommen, danach hatte man vergessen meine Bestellung weiter zu geben. Als ich nach dem Essen nachgefragt hatte wurde es bevorzugt den Tisch abzuwischen und danach mich zu bedienen. Natürlich war die Wartezeit nur 45min lang. Und auch der Ton macht die Musik, dass kennen die Kellner wohl nicht wenn sie mit dem Kunden sprechen. Nach meiner Kartenzahlung wurde mir mein EC-Beleg fast in Gesicht geworfen, weil ich es NICHT haben wollte. Also das war das Erste und letzte mal.

Good german food and beer with large portions. Sports pub interior design. Interesting ceiling in the bathroom. A little expensive. Friendly staff. The only thing in don't understand is why should you pay to use their bathroom. I mean I already paid for beer upstairs. It's common sense to have an "used beer" facility for free.

RED FLAG! Dont go there if you dont want to be swindled out of money. The waiter added a 3 euros tip to the bill without asking us. It's a big no go, and because of this I put 1 of 5. Also the waiter took the wrong order, in place of the asked vegetarian plate we had a plate below on the menu with meat. Very nice for my friend who dont eat meat. The food was good so.

Wenn ich in Köln bin versuche ich immer was typisch kölsches zu finden und bin dann auf das "Brauhaus zum Prinzen" gestoßen. Da der Kellner alleine war , hat es etwas gedauert mit der Bedienung.aber dann ging alles recht schnell. So Habe ich dann typisch Kölsch als Vorspeise Kaviar (blutwurst mit Brötchen und Zwiebeln und Senf) bestellt. Als Hauptspeise dann Himmel und ÄÄD. Gebratene blutwurst mit Kartoffelpüree röstzwiebeln und apfelkompott. Beides war typisch Kölsch und sehr lecker. Schicke bratene blutwurst war super weich und würzig.. und danach wie immer zwei haselnussschnäpse. Insgesamt ein einfacher Abend mit gutem Essen.

Sehr netter Kellner,gutes und vieles Essen,selbst ohne Reservierung aber dafür mit Freundlichkeit Platz bekommen.

Als je een typische Keulse eetgelegenheid, annex café zoekt is dit zeker de moeite waard om te bezoeken. Geen hoogstaande gerechten, geen uitvoerige kaart, maar lekker en snel bereid. Omlijst met attente aandacht van de gastheer.

Tolle Bedienung,- sehr wortgewandt und freundlich. Jedoch war das Essen absolut nicht zufriedenstellend. Die Champignonsoße schmeckte nach Wein, die Bratkartoffeln waren halb roh, schmeckten halb verbrannt und die Schnitzel schmeckten wie billige, verpackte aus dem Discounter. Wir kommen definitiv nicht mehr wieder! Die Haxe meines Freundes war zudem kalt. Alles in allem war es viel zu viel Geld, für das was wir bekommen haben.

Leckeres Essen, tolle Atmosphäre und eine schnelle und freundliche Bedienung! Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Ein Besuch im Brauhaus zum Prinzen war ein rundum gelungenes Erlebnis! Der Service war erstklassig, aufmerksam und freundlich. Das Essen hat alle Erwartungen übertroffen - köstlich zubereitet und mit erstklassigen Zutaten. Besonders beeindruckt hat mich die Schnelligkeit, mit der alles an unseren Tisch kam. Ein perfekter Ort für genussvolle Stunden. Sehr empfehlenswert!

Went to have dinner with a group of friends (tourists) on a Saturday night. They forgot our meal order, and only realised that when the kitchen was already closed. The manager did not apologize for the situation and left us with no meal at 10pm. Very rude!

Richtig assozialer Laden, so einen Umgang noch nirgends erlebt. Haben ewig auf Bedienung gewartet. Als dann endlich ein Kellner kam und sehr unfreundlich unsere Bestellung (für 6 Personen) aufnehmen wollte, kam meine Mutter zurück, die unserem 4-jährigen Kind eine kleine Pizza auf die Hand geholt hatte (weil meine Tochter nichts von der Karte wollte), schnauzte er uns an, das wäre verboten - wir 6 Erwachsene wollten Essen und Trinken bestellen, nur das Kleinkind wollte die Pizza noch nicht mal an deren Tisch draußen neben uns essen - er meinte, er würde Ärger kriegen vom Chef - wir fragten höflich, ob er nachfragen kann. Er ging meckernd weg zum Chef, der uns dann vom Eingang aus den Vogel gezeigt und offensichtlich beleidigt hat. Kaum zu glauben.

Absolut NICHT ZU EMPFEHLEN! Unfreundliches, unprofessionelles Perosnal, untypisch für Köln, ewige Wartezeiten bis überhaupt ein Kellner kommt. 0 Sterne !

Eines der schlechteren Brauhäusern von Köln. Schade das Poldi hier mit seinen Namen Pate stehen muss. Personal unfreundlich und frech. Nach mehrmaligen Diskussionen mit dem Personal wegen falschen Essen, kamen türsteher noch hinzu deren Arroganz noch schlimmer ist. Beim fussball schauen 2-3 Gesänge angestimmt was beim Rudelgucken normal ist und dann war es ganz aus und man musste gehen. Wen ich Ruhe im Geschäft haben möchte zeige ich keinen live fussball, oder ? Da möchte einer mit dem Namen podolski schnelles Geld machen, was man auch anhand den Preisen sehen kann.

初めてのケルン。 大聖堂の見学後、南棟の階段登り降りで良い汗かいた後にケルシュビール飲みたくてたまたま寄りました。 ビールはグラスが小さいので何杯も飲むシステムで、その度フレッシュなビールが飲めて美味い😋 店員さんの対応がとても素晴らしく、気遣いと笑顔で美味しく頂きました。 ソーセージとおすすめで食べたこの料理が美味かった！

Unverschämt Meine Familie und ich haben dort jeweils ein Käsebrot bestellt und nach den ersten paar Bissen haben wir feststellen müssen dass sich am gesamten Käse Schimmelspuren befanden Als wir den Kellner darüber informiert haben wurden wir mit einer Runde Freigetränke abgespeist. Als die Rechnung kam mussten wir geschockt feststellen, dass uns die verschimmelten käsebrote doch tatsächlich abgerechnet wurden Was eine Frechheit!! Hinzu kommen lange Wartezeiten und ungenießbares Kölsch

Ich hab es nicht verstanden. Wir sind in das Lokal rein gegangen und wollten nach einem Platz Fragen. Wir sind ohne Vorwarnung hochkant zur Tür gebracht worden, obwohl wir gerde erst rein gekommen sind. (Wir waren zu der Zeit weder Betrunken oder sonst was ....) Tür wurde hinter uns zu gemacht (22:30 Uhr). Traurig! Wir sind gut zahlenden Kunden (2 Personen) und habe unser Geld gut in anderen Kneipen/Lokalen investieren können, die wir rundherum finden konnten.
