First visit. It's still like it used to be in the Altes Zollhaus at Pfeifer. The food looked and tasted great. The tandoori skewer with 4 large chunks of lamb could have been reduced to 3. Mistake with the red wine: the bottle on the menu was out, and so were 2 of the 3 open ones. We got the cheapest one left, but (we noticed later) there were 2 others on the bill. Next time we'll ask for the receipt beforehand to analyze. This time the Indian was there to pay, and we didn't get the receipt until afterward. They have to change that, or we'll change it. And there shouldn't be a wine list where almost everything is sold out. At the very least, there should be an insert sheet or some other indication.

Half kiosk, half restaurant, but in my opinion, the best Indian food in Cologne! It's refreshing to eat Indian dishes that haven't been (overly) adapted to the German palate. An absolute insider tip! Especially Chicken Chennai Chef: world-class!

We arrived on a Saturday evening without a reservation. The restaurant was packed. We were told we'd have to wait about 15 minutes. After five minutes, we were ushered in and served very friendly staff throughout the evening. We also found the food very delicious. If we're ever in the area again, we'd be happy to come back.

It's very good that Indian cuisine is finally enriching the gastronomy in Herne. Shalimar offers a wide selection of vegan, vegetarian and other traditional Indian dishes. The⁶ dishes are freshly prepared. The portions are well sized and made from fresh ingredients. Very good price and performance ratio as well as friendly service. Always my pleasure.

Once again, we had delicious butter chicken prepared WITHOUT cream. The atmosphere on site isn't quite our cup of tea. But pickup works great.

Glasses were unwashed, cobwebs in the corner, the table still had crumbs on it. Sorry - but I don't understand this restaurant's 4.7 star rating! The papadam (see picture) tasted very stale and no longer crunchy. There was only one sauce. Biryani rice was ok but chicken very tough. Very large portion for that. Price is also cheap - but definitely NOT worth recommending, I'm sorry 😔Even if the staff seemed friendly.

The worst Indian food I've ever eaten. There was nothing fresh or cooked, it tasted bland and like it came from a can. We felt like the owner was constantly watching us, which was creepy, and the restaurant seemed pretty run-down. Add to that the relatively high price for the poor-quality food and drinks. The bill was marked "NO INVOICE," so it was more like a list of the order with prices, so it's safe to assume that they're making money here bypassing the government. People, don't go here and find a decent restaurant; you can get better Indian food!

Very tasty, well-seasoned Indian food. We had the Lakshmi platter for 2 people. The portions were plentiful. We're fed up. The service was very pleasant. Price-performance is top. Highly recommended.

Looks small from the outside but has plenty of seating inside. Nicely decorated, super quick service, and the vegetarian food was really good. Portions could be bigger though.
