It was particularly positive that there was no unpleasant odor in the dining room. One minor criticism concerns communication: German skills varied greatly – one member of staff was good, while the rest were rather patchy. However, in an authentically run Indian restaurant, this is acceptable. What was less understandable, however, was that an onion salad with an extremely hot chili pepper was served – without any warning. Although everyone at the table was used to spicy food, the heat was so intense that it was impossible to eat together for about 15 minutes. We consider serving such an ingredient without warning to be irresponsible. Ambience: ★★★☆☆ (3/5) The restaurant is decorated in a clichéd but lovingly Indian style – the chairs in particular create a harmonious image, but are unfortunately not very comfortable. The dining room overall seemed a bit bare, and some sections of the walls could be cleaner. Nevertheless, a certain atmosphere emerges that contributes to the overall experience. The very clean and well-maintained restrooms deserve special mention – even if the sink/faucet system was a bit complicated to operate. A small highlight was the way individual drinks were served, almost in an Indian cart – a nice detail that rounds out the ambiance. Food: ★★★★☆ (4/5) The restaurant's culinary offerings were almost consistently impressive. The appetizers, especially the BBQ honey chicken and the fried vegetables, were not only delicious but also seemed creatively and lovingly prepared. The mango dip was outstanding and particularly memorable. The side dishes, such as the garlic naan and the homemade dips, were harmonious and aromatic. The main courses – butter chicken, a masala, and a lamb curry – varied in taste but were consistently successful. The flavors were balanced and authentic. The accompanying rice was also well-matched. The drink selection was also perfect: the Indian Kingfisher beer and the lassis (served in original vessels) rounded off the meal. Overall, a thoroughly delicious experience that makes you want to return. Conclusion: A restaurant with an authentic flair, some minor weaknesses in the service and ambiance, but a pleasingly strong kitchen. A clear recommendation – especially for lovers of Indian cuisine.

The food is very tasty and inexpensive and can usually be picked up within 15 minutes.

Disappointing. The biryani was served mildly (although I hadn't been asked for it), was only lukewarm, and I had to order the yogurt sauce separately – I usually bring it with me! Also unpleasant were several cockroaches, one of them on the table – but we didn't want to make a fuss about it. Two stars only for the quick service and reasonable prices.

Absolutely outstanding Indian food. I went with my girlfriend and my mother, and we’re all still recovering because we ate so much—it was that good. From the appetizers to the main dishes, everything was delicious. We ordered a wide variety and every single item was full of flavor. I already love Indian cuisine, but this place took it to another level. Generous portions, rich taste, and clearly made with care. I’m even more excited knowing we took some leftovers home—can’t wait to eat them tomorrow. A fantastic experience all around.

We arrived as a group of five around 7 p.m. The restaurant was very busy for a Wednesday evening, but I called ahead and managed to get a table. The staff was very friendly and the menu was very diverse, so it wasn't easy to decide. Absolutely suitable for vegetarians. Including tips and appetizers, we paid €22 per person, which was absolutely fantastic. We'd love to come back!

Since our hotel was just a few meters from the Taj India, eating here was a good option. The full restaurant was a deciding factor... can't be bad!? We have little experience with Indian cuisine, but we received excellent advice. The soups were extremely delicious, but the main courses were just as tasty. The ambiance is perfect, the prices are actually too low, and the staff are incredibly friendly. We ate there again on our second evening in Bonn and were treated like regulars. Highly recommended, even for people who want to get to know Indian cuisine!

Amazing food, amazing price, and an amazing service. Went there for dinner and had a delicious biryani together with palak paneer and a chicken curry. I was so satisfied with the taste that i went back the next day for lunch where i tried more of the finger-foods like samosas and pakoras.

I can see mixed reviews on this restaurant. But I had good experience with this restaurant. I have ordered Afghani chaap, vegetable manchurian, kaju paneer sheekh kebab and pudina mithi lassi. They were extremely good. The highlights from my order were kaju paneer sheekh kebab and pudina mithi lassi. The staff were very friendly. As a vegetarian, I can find less vegetarian tandoori specializations in Germany. I liked this menu having many options for vegetarians too.

I’m a regular customer and have made the review for this restaurant like 1 year ago, but since the experience was always excellent SO I decided to make a revised version on it. The food is of course delicious here, I used to order chicken curry and now my new favorite is TAWA chicken(number 70) on the grilled plate, there’s extra sauce you can order(I personally recommend Masala) and it comes with another plate of sauce like 5th pic I uploaded. And the staffs(chef) are super friendly, Yesterday during the payment my card seemed had some technical problems they just told me to next time but of course I rushed to the bank immediately afterwards right before they closed😂I’m really looking forward to visiting soon!!🤩

We chose this restaurant based on the reviews - and loved it! The food was incredibly delicious. Thank you for the successful introduction to Indian cuisine! There are even suitable dishes for children. A fantastic range of flavors and perfectly balanced spices. The preparation was pretty quick too. The waiter was very helpful and helped us make our selection. A little note: A changing table in the toilet would be a great addition for families with small children. When we are back in Bonn, we would love to come back!

Biriyani was just okay for me. May be because I am not used to this type of biriyani. Garlic naan, lamb vindaloo and chicken kolhapuri were quite tasty and I am satisfied with it. Really happy with the customer service. They were welcoming.

Tables were very tight, we sat right next to the open emergency exit, and it was very drafty there. It was reserved in advance and a special occasion was stated. We had to ask twice when ordering drinks because something was missing. This continued throughout the evening. The food itself was good, even if something was missing or something was wrong. But waiting 2 hours for food was too long, especially with a child. Then it's better to cook Indian food yourself again

The Taj India 🇮🇳 restaurant is located close to the city center.. the atmosphere is a little cold for my taste, yet the service team is welcoming and friendly .. the food quality is very good .. the butter 🧈 chicken with Nan bread 🍞 butter naan and garlic naan 🫓 and the black lentils are very tasty … the price are very fair … the best price & value I experienced during my short visit in Bonn so far ..

While ordering we clearly mentioned that we want spice in our food but food was not spicy at all we inquire the waiter again he bring us small green chillies to eat with our food.

I used to eat there regularly years ago when it reopened and I'll be back again on another visit to Bonn. What can I say, the store has grown positively. There is a wide selection of different food and drinks, individual requests are catered for as best as possible, and attentive service is also worthy of praise. Only the seating situation is more cramped in some places and when the restaurant is completely full there is a certain amount of background noise. I deducted a small point for the food because we wanted the food for our child to be mild on several occasions. This was affirmed and noted - unfortunately in the end it turned out to be one of the spiciest dishes (we deliberately ordered something that was already considered... was mildly labeled, we just made it clear that it was supposed to be the children's meal). The child then ate with them elsewhere, so that everyone was quite satisfied in the end. We would definitely like to come back next time we are in the area.

Authentic Indian cuisine, good service

I've already eaten here twice. The food itself is really tasty and what I particularly like is the selection of side dishes/starters and (Indian) drinks. Especially the selection of street food. I haven't seen that at other restaurants. The selection of main courses is comparable to other Indian restaurants. What I have to complain about is the prices for the desserts in relation to the quantity. 3 euros to a little over 4 euros, depending on the dessert, and the amount is just enough for 1 person. So not suitable for sharing. And unfortunately you sometimes have to wait a little longer until you are served. But the staff is very friendly.

The food is delicious: they have many vegan options!! Also, the workers are helpful. BUT something I can't tolerate is that they don't serve you a glass of tap water... (I ordered a curry and a drink that I didn't like and that's why I asked for tap water) they denied it to me and when I said it wasn't legal they replied "it's not illegal either"... in the end I insisted and they gave me water but that's not the idea

Very, very good food, lots of choice and great spices. All employees very attentive and quick. However, there is hardly any ventilation with almost 20 occupied tables. At some point you got your nose closed and could hardly breathe. Please do something about the ventilation. Otherwise great and keep it up.

Very attentive boss, he immediately noticed that the table at the entrance didn't fit us well and moved us to the back area (unfortunately it was very drafty at the entrance and that made it very uncomfortable for me at the end of the pregnancy). The food was very tasty, unfortunately one of our main courses was forgotten at the beginning, but it was quickly added. We can definitely recommend the restaurant.

Very nice restaurant with outside seating. Inside, the furniture is very cramped, so you have to be careful how you move. The air inside is very bad due to the open kitchen, so fresh air should be provided occasionally. The interior lighting is not enough here and there, so you may have to use your cell phone flashlight to read the menu. The service is very attentive and friendly. The order is received quickly and delivered quickly. The food is sufficient and tasty. A reservation is recommended, which speaks for itself. Unfortunately, card payment is not possible... this should be noted. We didn't find any reference to it before, but maybe we just overlooked it.

The food is nice. The place is noisy (the damn music...) and the clothes typically smell after eating there, so mixed feelings.

This was the second time we were guests at the Taj, once spontaneously for lunch at the weekend and once reserved with a larger group. The ambience may seem a little kitschy, but we felt very comfortable in the overall very relaxed atmosphere. The service was very friendly, courteous and attentive, they paid close attention to the guests' wishes and served quickly. Thanks to the large number of people in our group, we were able to try out the menu and regardless of whether it was vegan, vegetarian dishes, shellfish or meat, the dishes were all excellent. For those who like it a little spicy and would like to try something different, we recommend trying Pani Puri (No. 14). The food was plentiful, appetizingly prepared and excellently seasoned, and the price-performance ratio was also good. We thank you for the wonderful time at the Taj and are sure we will come back. PS: We are also a bit jealous that the Bonn locals seem to like to pick up their food there too! Enjoy your meal! :D

I recently hosted a party and I was thoroughly impressed with both the food and the service. The dishes were a perfect blend of authentic Indian flavors, with every item freshly prepared and beautifully presented. My guests couldn’t stop raving about the delicious spread. I almost wanted to give up going to an Indian restaurant. Luckily I tried it again. The four of us were guests on Sunday afternoon. Beautifully designed guest room, friendly reception. The extensive map is a bit difficult for inexperienced people. We took menus twice for two people each. Drinks included lassi and homemade lemonade. In short: the food was excellent! Very tasteful and with completely new flavors for me. Very spicy and each individual pan has its own taste. Price performance absolutely okay! Not our last visit!

We are very disappointed!! We had reservations for 8:00 p.m. Unfortunately, our reservation for Friday evening was received but simply ignored. Likewise, we were ignored by the completely overwhelmed employees when we pointed out our reservation. In the end, after talking to the boss after waiting 15 minutes and clearly insisting, we got a table after the guests at "our" table were clearly told to leave now. This is all about profit and not about the well-being of the guests! Too bad. Disastrous organization, extremely loud and cramped. Clearly not a recommendation!!

The advice was very helpful, which made the buffet even more varied. The quantity was right and there was something for every taste. Assembly and dismantling went as discussed. I’d rate the food 8.8/10 - Butter chicken: 9.8/10: Slightly sweet balance out well with, lots of spice, good pieces of chicken - Bombay Biryani: 8.3/10: Lots of spices/flavour, quite a bit of each type of meat, pretty good - Fish Vindaloo: 8.8/10: One of the spiciest vindaloo I've had, felt very authentic, but bit too spicy for me - Butter Naan: 8/10: Typical butter Naan

Fantastic! Even a seemingly simple biryani becomes a work of art visually and an experience when it comes to taste. Other dishes no less: the menu is extensive and varied. The waiting times are relatively short and perhaps the most surprising thing: the prices are at pre-Corona levels. When it comes to quality, the restaurant could do a lot better... There may be other good Indians in Bonn, but they can only be just as good, because it couldn't be better. My new favorite Indian. Was there twice in a short space of time and am already looking forward to the next time! Update September 2024: The rating continues to be correct even after a few more visits. It was my first time eating Bharat Thali from the lunch menu and I can only recommend it.

I lived in Dubai for 20 years and there were a lot of great indian restaurants. Taj India reminds me of home. I'm coming back soon with friends ♡
