We felt very comfortable at Masala Project. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and you can immediately tell that everyone there is passionate about what they do. The owner took wonderful care of us and was always present without being intrusive. It's precisely this personal touch that makes the visit so special. The food was fantastic, as always. High-quality, delicious, and prepared with great care. For us, it's always a real treat and a place we'll definitely be returning to. Highly recommended.

There was a sign at the entrance saying "Please wait," but despite waiting for about seven minutes, we were ignored. We ended up going in ourselves. We had a noce dinner there. We ordered Mango chicken and lahm Masala. The lahm was really nice. The Mango chicken was good, but some of the chicken pieces had a weird taste. The staff were really friendly and the man was happily giving us advices about what to choose.

The good reviews are incomprehensible to us. This was the worst Indian food we've had in a very long time. The shrimp butter masala, priced at €22.90, contained four tiny frozen shrimp, the sauce itself had little to do with curry, tasting more like an overly sweet ketchup… The garlic on the naan bread was burnt and therefore bitter. A real shame, so much room for improvement…

I highly recommend this restaurant! The three of us visited this restaurant one weeknight and were very satisfied. The owners are extremely friendly and have a good sense of humor. It wasn't too loud, the food was delicious, and the price was reasonable. However, you should be aware that (as of September 2025) you can't pay by card. There was also a large selection for vegetarians. Furthermore, after our plates were cleared, we were told that we were welcome to stay seated.

A very good Indian restaurant that truly deserves its excellent reviews! It's busy, which means the restaurant can get quite noisy, but this is more than compensated for by the perfectly friendly and efficient service and the fantastic food! The fact that there are some Indians among the guests speaks volumes about the authenticity of the cuisine. I've been to several Indian restaurants, but the Masala Project was by far the best so far – it's a shame there aren't any in Hanover and the surrounding area at this level.

I ordered the vegetarian Thali Veggie, which wasn't on the menu but was on a separate piece of paper they gave me with the menu. It was absolutely delicious! It was 14.90 euros, and the portion was more than enough for one person. I'm not sure if this is only available for lunch, but it was a truly delightful lunch. From now on, I'll definitely be coming to this restaurant for dinner in Bochum.

This is our second time here. After our first visit, we decided not to order so many appetizers and just have the main course, as we couldn't finish everything the first time. Unfortunately, ordering no appetizers didn't work out again. The selection is so hot and everything is delicious, and you just want to try everything. I've rarely eaten such delicious food. But the chicken and vegan dishes were also very good. My favorite is the fried onion! The staff and service were friendly and equally good. We'll be back soon. I can highly recommend this restaurant.

We were at the restaurant yesterday evening around 7:30 p.m. We were immediately seated at a table for six without a reservation. The menu is very extensive, especially for vegetarians and vegans. The food we ordered arrived very quickly and was of excellent quality, especially the rice and naan. The portions were generous. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the manager. We will definitely be back.

This was our first time there. The decor is very spartan. This makes the room very noisy, and it's hard to have a conversation. Before we ate, we asked directly if we could pay by card. They said yes. The menu offers something for everyone. We particularly liked the vegetarian and vegan options. We ordered a starter and a main course. The bread for starters was good, but the dip was more of a mild tomato sauce than tikka masala. While we were still eating the main course, the main course was served. This is completely unacceptable and a complete no-go. It was like mass processing, just to get rid of the guests quickly. Our main course was almost cold when we started. One dish was good, the other average. When paying, they demanded cash. We pointed out that we had specifically asked beforehand. The person reacted unfriendly and said we would have to wait minutes because it was so complicated. At some point, the person with the device came, placed it on the table, and left. The card payment didn't work, and we had to wait until the person finally came back to our table. They set something else, and it worked. They didn't even say "goodbye" or "thank you." The bill was also very suspicious. It said "interim bill" and there was no tax number. This was our first and last visit to this establishment.

I'm writing this review with stomach cramps, which I've had since the day after my visit. We rarely eat out, and since then, I haven't eaten anything exceptional. Of course, it's always difficult to prove something like that, but for me, the answer to where I got it is obvious. Regardless, I'd like to share my general opinion of this restaurant: Where the good reviews come from is a mystery to me. This was the worst Indian food in terms of taste. Indian cuisine is known for its spices. But here, the sauces simply tasted of nothing. Just like tomato sauce and skimped on spices. The butter chicken has hardly any nuts. We ordered different dishes, but they all tasted more or less the same. And everyone said it didn't taste of anything. And the price/performance ratio is also poor, considering the quantity and quality you get. On top of that, the owner is very pushy and constantly came to our table to ask if we needed anything, even though we repeatedly said no. We constantly felt like we were being watched. By the way, I was the only one who had lamb. My wife had butter chicken. Since then, my wife and I have only eaten the same thing at home. So, there aren't really many options as to where I could have gotten this food poisoning. I've had stomach cramps with diarrhea and nausea for almost four days now. Great.

Unfortunately, our visit was anything but pleasant. The service was chaotic and uncoordinated – despite clear communication, our order was taken incorrectly and we received the wrong food. The staff were rude and unhelpful when we asked questions. Especially annoying: The bill showed dishes we had neither ordered nor received. Transparency, attentiveness, and basic hospitality – all of these were unfortunately lacking here. We definitely won't be returning.

The worst Indian food I've ever eaten. There was nothing fresh or cooked, it tasted bland and like it came from a can. We felt like the owner was constantly watching us, which was creepy, and the restaurant seemed pretty run-down. Add to that the relatively high price for the poor-quality food and drinks. The bill was marked "NO INVOICE," so it was more like a list of the order with prices, so it's safe to assume that they're making money here bypassing the government. People, don't go here and find a decent restaurant; you can get better Indian food!

I am afraid I need to revise my first feedback for this place as experience verified my first few impressions regarding food, staff and their general professionalism. I dont think I will be coming back or recommend to others. We were a larger group and the staff was not only utterly confused about the orders and upset about us being 34 and not 36 people (or something) but also angry and unpleasant to interact with which makes them a complete no-go for me.

We have already visited many restaurants, but unfortunately the food here was not convincing. For a full hour the staff was visibly overwhelmed, which was also noticeable in the service. But even when things calmed down, the service left something to be desired - there was no demand for a repeat order. Unfortunately, overall not a recommendable experience.
