I can't understand the bad reviews about the host/staff. Super nice, friendly, open-minded & with humor. We had a really nice evening and there were around 20 guests. Plus the guests who weren't part of our group.
Due to the quantity & different orders & take-out service, the food took a little longer and tasted good. That was announced and was completely ok.
It is an older house, with rustic furnishings and a lot of charm.
I felt very comfortable and had a nice evening.
Thank you 🍺.
The restaurant is beautifully located right on the promenade and if you're lucky you can sit in the shade. This formulation goes back to the extremely unfriendly and unwilling waiter who told us on Sunday that all the shadow tables were reserved, it's just a shame that none of the 4 tables were occupied at the supposed times. So we decided to test the kitchen, so no comment on that. But I can really imagine it with friendly staff, hence the 3 stars.
Food: Unfortunately the raw materials were not of good quality. We had two starters and two main courses and there was quite a lot left over. The food was well prepared. For me personally, the salmon starter (pickled salmon) was too small, but the portions of all the other dishes were absolutely sufficient, so I would also like to contradict some of the reviews that complained about the portions being too small. The bottom line is that I was disappointed with the food and because of the quality I find the price-performance ratio to be unsatisfactory. If the quality was appropriate, the prices would be justified as it is not an overpriced location.
Service: The service initially works very well. What was good for us, however, was that we were already in the restaurant at 6:30 p.m. As the evening progressed, the service became more and more difficult and you had to accept longer waiting times. The service staff was nice and accommodating, we were given some information about the bottle of wine we ordered, so there is nothing to complain about. However, there were too few service staff. The bottom line is that you can't blame the staff, but management is welcome to think about adding a person.
Ambience: I really liked the ambience. I didn't think the restaurant was "old-fashioned", but rather it seemed like a very good combination of tradition and modernity. The ambience also made me give it 3 stars and decide against 2 stars.
The food was good, a knuckle of pork. The prices are in line with those in Cologne's old town. The ambiance is quaint. Unfortunately, 200 ml of the half-liter wheat beer somehow "evaporated."
We had a Wiener Schnitzel and a pork steak. Both very tasty. The personal service was very good. However, the menu is quite cumbersome to use and sometimes not very informative. It's no fun choosing something there. When we tried to get more information online, we discovered that the menu on the restaurant's website was no longer up to date. Too bad.
We came here spontaneously and were lucky to get a table for four people without a reservation.
We were immediately impressed by the atmosphere and ambiance. We were shown to our seats with a friendly welcome, and the excellent service continued until we left. The food was incredibly delicious, and the portions were generous for the price. We were all full and had no complaints. The "Kartoffelkeller" is 100 percent recommended. We'll definitely be back.
The service was very friendly and we felt comfortable! The location right on the Cochem bridge is super central and the food is also good. Especially compared to the other restaurants in town!
Sweet restaurant with attention to detail! The food was very tasty - we were there on Saturday, which is why it sometimes took a little longer, but all in all it was TOP!
