Bratwurst Röslein in Nürnberg

The visit was rather disappointing - rather mediocre food and less than good service. Our hard working waitress tried her best but clearly the place was understaffed on a busy Saturday night. Dishes were mixed up and only 3 out of 7 of us got what they ordered. Not really important, so we let it slide. The food was not bad but lacked finesse and tasted more like from what you get in a fast food restaurant. Except the salad, that was great. Pity since the setting is great and so it the location. Guess it is much better on a less busy day but for us it wasn´t satisfactory. It won´t take much to improve, so we'll be back.

Sehr enttäuscht. Das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis passt überhaupt nicht. Das Essen war sehr schlecht, es hatte mit der bestellten Pfefferhaxe nichts zu tun. Meine Frau hatte einen Kartoffelauflauf angeblich mit Steinpilzen,welche nicht zu erkennen waren. Auch der Salat war lieblos angerichtet. Wir kennen das Lokal von früher,es ist inzwischen wesentlich schlechter und wir werden es nicht mehr besuchen.

Classic German restaurant with relatively good prices, good service and traditional German cuisine

The restaurant is very quaint and the food is better than expected at a tourist location. Unfortunately the waiter was so unfriendly that we left earlier than planned.

Typical Franconian inn. Delicious Nuremberg bratwursts and other typical dishes. With the Kaiserschmarrn as dessert you'll be absolutely full.

Delicious dishes and a rustic atmosphere

Whenever I'm in Nuremberg I visit him. My favorites are Nuremberg sausages, pork knuckle with cabbage, pork schnitzel and desserts - Kaiserschmaren and apple strudel. The beer, of course, is gorgeous. I prefer the white unfiltered and the red. Highly recommend!

Definitely not worth the price. - **Beer**: The *only* redeeming part of the experience was the beer, which was decent. - **Shady Billing Practices**: This is where things went downhill: - We ordered **10 sausages**, but when we got the bill, the waiter had charged us for **16 sausages**! - The bill was in German, which I assume the waiter hoped would confuse us and let it slide. - On top of that, there was a **20% tip automatically added to the bill**—something we didn’t agree to, and again, it was written in German. - To make matters worse, when they handed us the bill, they **asked for an additional €3 tip** on top of everything! This kind of behavior is unacceptable and left a bad taste in our mouths. It felt like they were trying to take advantage of tourists at every turn. **Final Verdict**: If you’re in the area, skip this place. It’s overpriced, the food is forgettable, and their dishonest billing practices are downright insulting. Spend your money somewhere that values honesty and good service.

Sorry, but I would have expected a Braumeister/ Cordon blue schnitzel like this from a school lunch kitchen. Nothing freshly made, let alone laid out for the eye. But an impressive price for TK or Neudeutsch convenience food. Definitely my last visit.

I went in around 13:30 after having a light lunch. After ordering beer and a glass of wine, I said, ``I want to eat Nuremberger (sausage),'' although it wasn't written on the chart (menu), and they brought it right away. I didn't order anything else, but perhaps because it wasn't crowded, they made me feel very welcome. The store clerk greeted me with a smile.

Obatzder was good, as was apple cake. Blue tips were an absolute failure. Low quality sausages, a broth without taste. Plus a sad bread without any crust or aroma. A typical tourist restaurant, tables crowded together and quite loud in there. Don't come back.

Gestern war ich mit meiner Frau zum Bratwurst essen in Bratwurst Röslein in Nürnberg am Hauptmarkt. Wir haben Nürnberger Bratwürste bestellt, weil wir diese kennen und mögen. Die so genannten Nürnberger Bratwürste von diesem Haus verdienen diesen Namen überhaupt nicht! Und es sollte diesem Haus verboten werden, solche als Nürnberger Bratwürste zu verkaufen. Nur mit sehr viel Mühe, ausreichend Fantasie und jede Menge. Hunger könnten wir diese verzehren. Eine Packung Nürnberger Bratwurst vom Discounter in der Pfanne angebraten. Schmeckt besser, als dass wir gestern gegessen haben. Fazit: nie mehr wieder Bratwurst Rösslein

Traditional food, but is quite like a UK Wetherspoons. Ingredients cheap which let's it down. The guy who served us was very nice, but the person on the door seemed unnecessarily rude. Almost didn't bother going in at that point.

The meat was dry and none of the dishes impressed us in terms of taste. None of us were impressed and it remains incomprehensible how such food can be offered for these prices. The costs go beyond all reason and give the impression that tourists in particular are being excluded here - an absolute tourist trap. We were particularly struck negatively by one of the waiters, probably an older gentleman who was just helping out. Unfortunately, in our opinion, he should not have contact with guests. He was unfriendly, sulky and lacked any hospitality. It was so unpleasant that you literally lost your appetite. His behavior towards his colleagues was particularly bad - the way he behaved in a feudalistic manner was not only unpleasant to look at from the outside, but almost embarrassing. Our conclusion: once and never again! Both the food and the service completely disappointed us.

It felt like you were in a "fast food restaurant" and quickly got to the table and said goodbye. It wasn't very nice for us and my husband was even hungrier afterwards than before

Our tour included a group lunch on the other side of the square at a large restaurant. We got to enter through a side door to a large banquet hall. Excited for more authentic German food, we were served a slab of turkey with a dumpling. It was not very appealing.

Bavarian specialties as you imagine them! I had half a duck and my colleagues had pork knuckle, Kaiserschmarrn, etc. It was very tasty and we would go back at any time.

You could always eat very well there. But with the new ownership the food has greatly diminished. We recently ate there and were totally disappointed. Small portions, the food was cold, for example the sauerkraut was almost raw. That in no way justifies the high prices. And we all had stomach pains after eating. Not again. It's a shame about the beautiful old Nuremberg restaurant.

A short city trip to Nuremberg to explore the city took me to Bratwurst Röslein, among other places. The many good reviews prompted me to make a reservation in advance, especially as a solo traveler. And that was a good thing. When I arrived at lunchtime the restaurant was very busy. Even though my seat wasn't available yet, the waitress found me a good table. The ambience is rustic, as you would expect. Despite the many guests, the noise level was kept to a reasonable level and the waiters were quick and very friendly. A local red beer and the menu consisting of a starter soup, a main course and an apple strudel for dessert are highly recommended to experience the regional cuisine. Everything came very quickly and was of very good quality. Thank you!

Our last review is now 3 years old and urgently needs to be updated. This evening we had dinner there again. As always there were Schäufele and red cabbage. The food was again good and plentiful, but unfortunately not really hot. The whole restaurant was pretty cool, especially the floor. It was at most half full, but our waiter was already overwhelmed. Unfortunately, the price level is now also borderline. Schäufele with a small dumpling €21.5, a portion of red cabbage €5.5. Conclusion: The Röslein is getting worse and significantly more expensive.

The store staff has a lot of nerves and they take it out on the customers. There are much more beautiful shops in Nuremberg, that you don't have to spoil your day.

The Rösle is extremely rustic… I think the food is overpriced and generally not outstanding. My “homemade” apple strudel was rather dry and didn’t taste homemade. The “crowning” of the evening were two mice that scurried happily back and forth between the tables and their shelter. When asked, the only response was “we know about it and will take care of it” and we found this to be very uncustomer-oriented. We won't eat there anymore.

Because it was a public holiday, not many places were open, so I visited, but was racially discriminated against.

Purely for city visitors who only come here once! We found the service to be very mediocre! The food (a knuckle) wasn't worth the money! Warmed up and dried out old stocks, but arrived at the table after just 10 minutes of ordering. I can't recommend this place!

Food average, lots of extras that are simply part of the main course, only for an extra charge. Only for unsuspecting tourists and not for real Franconians. Service staff very nice.

The food was nothing special, we waited half an hour for a pork knuckle and a soup with bread. The potato dumpling inside was black. However, the biggest problem of this restaurant is its SERVICE. Rude and unfriendly ALL the waiters without exception. They squeeze you next to other customers while the restaurant is huge and empty. They leave you with the feeling that you are unwanted in there. The prices are unacceptable given what they offer and how they treat you. There are restaurants around where you can eat traditional food much cheaper and with better service. I can't understand how they rated it with 4 stars! Don't visit it especially if you are a tourist!

Wir waren sehr enttäuscht von diesem Restaurant. Die Bedienung empfanden wir als unfreundlich. Das essen war lieblos angerichtet. Wir hatten den Röslein Salat, alles wohl kreuz und quer in den Teller geworfen. Ich selbst bin ja keine grosse Köchin aber den Salat sieht bei mir definitiv schöner angerichtet aus. Preisleistung hat für uns auch nicht gestimmt, viel zu teuer für das was man qualitativ hingestellt bekommt (die Portion war zwar sehr gross, dennoch das Auge isst mit und ich hatte leider schnell keinen Appetit mehr). Zudem war es uns in dem Lokal viel zu kalt, wir hatten etwas Durchzug. Kurzum grosse Massenabfertigung.

Food was good but not great. Pedestrian. We were late, after the rush. The larger dining area was mostly empty. Yet the setvice seemed pretty slow.

The waiters who served us were rude and rude. Rushed and unavailable. Sausages too dry and schnitzel too raw.

Unfortunately a big tourist trap. Portions very small, bland and unfortunately tasteless. I would not recommend it at all. Let's start with the basics, the food is nothing special and inexplicably expensive. More specifically, the pork knuckle was pure fat and the potato ball that came with it was black inside, the soup was also just water with the smell of meat. As for the service, it was unacceptable, they make you feel unwelcome especially if they realize you are a tourist. While we gave our order, the waiter took a long time and while groups of people who had sat down after us were already eating, he asked us what we had ordered, it was clear that he had forgotten us. This was the third time I've been here in half a year. The stars refer to the last time after Christmas. One summer, I was sitting in the beer garden with a friend. We caught the friendly Italian service person. (A.D.) Very accommodating, explains the menu, gives recommendations and is friendly throughout... In November I was with my boyfriend and son. Sunday lunchtime, everything was full, we had reserved. It was also a good stay. The food was delicious, just like the first time in the summer. Everything went quickly, even though it was really well attended. Because it was so good, I went again after Christmas with another friend and my son. Saturday late afternoon. Many tables were empty, we waited at the entrance for a seat to be assigned. The service opens a door to the next room behind us and takes us to the last corner. According to him, the main room will still be full. OK. We felt very pushed out, the service was very cold, unfriendly and generally the opposite of what I have otherwise experienced. The map was very small, apparently different than before. Little choice. We ordered schnitzel with potato salad, with an extra plate for my son. Schnitzel came with potato salad and cranberry sauce. We were asked if we would take the sauce even though we didn't order it. Yes, you take it with you when it is already served. Of course, this sauce also cost a premium. Felt a bit like it was served incorrectly on purpose. I had to ask again for the extra plate for my son. Phew, the waitress puts the plates away without a word, no 'did you like it?' or 'can you have something else?' There are still many tables available in the main room. We felt very unwelcome in the next room and it was also very cold that my child wanted a blanket. All in all just mediocre. The food wasn't as good as advertised. I didn't receive a reservation confirmation by email, so we stopped by and made a reservation for the same evening. Would recommend this as it gets very busy without a reservation and you have to wait longer. The dishes felt like they were there ten minutes after ordering. The food will already be completely ready to keep warm, otherwise the quantity cannot be handled. Therefore, the food was only “lukewarm” when it was served. The sauce for my dish with the knuckle was too watery. I then took my husband's, which was significantly better. The dumpling and meat tasted good. The restaurant itself is large, so it's very loud in the middle room. We sat on the left in the small reserved seating area, which was more pleasant. Staff was very stressed and therefore a bit inattentive. In the end we stood in front of the closed barrier rope for two minutes, since the entrance is not the exit, you can't know in advance. We didn't want to answer it ourselves and the staff mentioned it in passing.

A must visit when coming to Nuremberg. The location is extremely large. The food quality is very good. I can highly recommend the bread, the Nuremberg small sausage and the potato gratin they do. All excellent. Be aware this is a restaurant that seems to expect a decent tip when the bill is due. So if you're a skinflint, not a good place as the prices are a little on the high side. Premium food, premium location, premium prices. Still give it 5 ⭐ all around. Been several times over the years and it never disappoints.

We were at Röslein on Christmas Day. Unfortunately there was neither goose nor duck on the menu. The food was overall too cold. The red cabbage was lukewarm and not good at all. Price performance unfortunately only grade satisfactory.

Previously, I called to order a table, but I was told that there were no vacancies. We came to the restaurant and there was a huge queue, the waiter at the entrance was just sending all the customers away( We remained standing and he offered us to sit at the table where the man was already sitting. WARNING! The restaurant was half empty😳. We waited a long time to order, the waiters simply do not pay attention. The food was not tasty, the only saving grace was the beer. The best German restaurant with authentic Franconian cuisine.

Go here if you want to encounter the rudest people you've ever met in your life. The server got the wrong order and when we pointed it out, he kept aggressively yelling at us and refused to get us the right order. We had to pay €16 for food we did not order. I'm curious if they would treat their white customers the same way or if their everyone is treated to their rudeness (I don't know which would be better). Oldest, biggest, whatever adjectives don't matter when your evening is ruined.

The roasted pork are nice and the beef roulade is a must try!

The price-performance ratio was not entirely satisfactory. A classic “tourist restaurant” with mediocre Bavarian specialties at high prices. The staff was excellent - friendly and accommodating. However, if you are looking for an authentic Bavarian location, you would be better off somewhere else.

En nuestra primera visita todos disfrutamos de los platos de salchicha de Nuremberg, con mostaza, y un gran pretzel, compartido por la mesa. La cerveza Dunkel (oscura) era excelente! El servicio fue rápido. La segunda visita vio a nuestro grupo de cuatro ordenando el gran plato de salchichas múltiples, una cesta de pan de maravilloso pan crujiente, chucrut, pretzel grande y más dunkel y lagers! Un poco peculiar para nosotros fue que el restaurante asume que un plato de salchichas múltiple grande (hasta 20 ) será consumido por un comensal hambriento, no compartido por varios comensales - y no se proporcionaron platos individuales. Esperamos a que el servidor volviera con placas, pero eso no sucedió! ¡Agarramos a los nuestros! El pretzel viene con una mantequilla y queso crock, cubierto con cebollas rojas - preferido por los lugareños a la cobertura de mostaza americana habitual. ¡Asegúrese de mirar la enorme pila de salchichas en la parrilla! La otra especialidad local es la paletilla de cerdo con crepitaciones, y que se veía bien - y grande - también! La misma comida está disponible en varios puestos del mercado de Navidad, pero detenerse en el restaurante ofrece calidez y WC! Menú en inglés disponible. Vajilla en el centro de la mesa. Tarjetas de crédito aceptadas. Disfruta!

A wonderful evening in a great, peaceful atmosphere. Everything was perfect!¡!

We came for a brunch on Sunday afternoon. The waiters were almost aggressive and definitely not friendly. After we asked if there were menus in English, our waiter’s attitude deteriorated even more. He kept responding in German ignoring our questions. We weren’t sure if the food that they brought was ours, so we asked the lady who brought it and she got very annoyed about it. The food was good, but the service leaves us no option but to never come back. When we were trying to leave the host said “Ciao, let’s go” to us as if they couldn’t bear us being there any longer. We were somewhat amazed that a place at the very heart of Nuremberg’s Old Town would be so unwelcoming.

We felt very welcome. The service was very attentive, the toilets were clean and the background noise wasn't too loud. The food was very hearty and tasty. We had the dish for 2 people which was completely enough. In addition, the Obatzter tasted very good. Absolute recommendation.

Zum Abendessen vor Ort gewesen, leider hat der Kellner den Strohhalm für die Kleine vergessen, dann eine Speise falsch bestellt - aus Höflichkeit haben wir es zwar sofort beanstandet, aber da auch nur halbherzig angeboten wurde, dass das richtige Essen noch kommt (3 Gang Weihnachtsmenu), die anderen dann aber hätten warten müssen, blieb das Schnitzel eben am Tisch. Als wir direkt nachfragten, ob wir dann aber noch das Dessert bekommen könnten (unserer Tochter war das Eis schon versprochen), versprach er, dies ginge aufs Haus - leider tauchte es trotzdem auf der Rechnung auf (auf die wir - wie unsere Nachbartische zuvor auch - mehr als 5 Minuten warten mussten weil der Kellner schwätzen war). Kurze Nachfrage beim Betrachten der Rechnung, warum denn der Nachtisch auf der Rechnung auftaucht - er guckt nur fragend. Wir erläutern bzw versuchen zu erinnern und seine Reaktion in pampigen Ton: "Ja, und nun? Muss ich das jetzt streichen oder wie?" und wiederholt den vollen Rechnungsbetrag. Da bleibt man sprachlos und lernt: hier muss Gast nur eines - so schnell nicht mehr wiederkommen!

Had dinner there today and found the food very disappointing. We had a Wiener Schnitzel and a roast pork. Eating felt like we were in some cafeteria. The roast was very disappointing, the sauce had hardly any flavor, the meat didn't necessarily taste fresh either. The schnitzel wasn't anything special either and the potato salad didn't taste homemade but rather like it came from a bucket. We are not tourists and come from the area but we won't be coming anymore.

Good service can often make up for bad food but bad good food cannot make up for bad service. The waiter was rude, slow and had no problem showing his disdain for us. Food was okay the one beer the server brought us for our two hour dining "experience" was good.

I used to eat there very often and it was delicious. But as time went on, the portions became smaller and smaller and I no longer felt the romantic feeling inside. Unfortunately. Employees were always nice.

My girlfriend and I visited it during the Christmas period, the dishes cost from 20 to 40 euros and are not worth it, both for the quantity (little) and for the taste (good yes, but you get the same sausages at the markets which are in the same central square for 5 euros). To make a more detailed comparison, from the stall you get a sandwich with 3 sausages and any topping for around 4.50, while a plate with 6 sausages (the same ones from the stall) and potato salad costs 18-20. There are many other restaurants in the center with better food, a much more beautiful and decorated environment and better service, without spending 50 euros each but 30 at most.

A traditional choice for a classic German dinner. Great atmosphere and tasteful meals.

Despite waiting in line, it went pretty quickly. Were friendly by the waiter picked up, brought to the table and served very nicely. No stress, humorous despite the many guests. The open kitchen was visible to everyone. The food selection is not very large but all regional dishes. Super tasty.
