Gasthof Schmidt in Nürnberg

Cozy inn with fresh, delicious food. The carp was great, and the roast venison was also delicious. Apple juice spritzer made from our own apples. There is also fresh fruit to take away here. You can't complain about the price. Would love to come back.

We were at Gasthaus Schmidt at 2 p.m. today. I asked in a friendly manner whether there would be anything else to eat, and the first answer, looking at the clock, was “Not anymore!”. After a short pause, the lady at the counter said, “What would you have wanted?” We said we enjoyed the carp. This was immediately denied on the grounds that it would take too long. We could have roast venison or Schäuferle. We were happy and then ordered two Schäuferle. After what felt like 10 - 12 minutes the Schäuferle came - a carp didn't take much longer. Doesn't matter. Unfortunately the Schäuferle was anything but fresh. It was dry and totally dark on the outside, the crust was typical Konvektomat. It had nothing to do with fresh, it also tasted very strange - indefinable. Anyone who knows me knows that I know exactly what a fresh Schäuferle should look like, let alone what a fresh one tastes like. Unfortunately, we were insulted in the worst possible way when we tried to point out that something was wrong with the Schäuferle. I wasn't allowed to speak to the chef either, but we were immediately billed and told to pay (we only paid for the drinks, which of course we had hardly touched) and to leave the restaurant immediately and never come back. That's what I call super friendly customer loyalty. Unfortunately, I don't have the words to describe this visit in the slightest....NEVER AGAIN!!

We were looking forward to a corresponding dish during carp season. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The side salad tasted absolutely fine. Unfortunately, this was in no way the case with carp itself. No taste, no spices. Not even the breading was spicy, even though a pepper carp was specially ordered. Too bad

Had booked a table for 5:30 p.m. The waitress at the bar didn't greet us or say please for a moment. Well, we just waited until she had finished all the drinks, then I said we had ordered a table. The only thing she said was “nice” and she went off with the drinks. Then she came back and poured the next batch. Again, not a word was said, so we've never experienced anything like that. Finally a young man came and asked, I repeated that we had booked a table. He looked and couldn't find a reservation. A queue had already formed behind us, and everyone was then kindly escorted to their tables. The four of us were still standing there and were simply ignored. Even if there was a lot going on in the restaurant, that's not how you treat the guests. In any case, it was the last time we went there, we've never experienced anything like it and they definitely lost a lot of customers. Never again Gasthof Schmidt in Katzwang.

Actually the best Franconian restaurant far and wide so far. However, the quality has suffered a lot in the last few months and seems noticeably less listless. It's a shame, you should try something new in the kitchen, e.g. B. in the appetizer area.....significantly better and with the same and better quality is the "Weiße Lamm", also the Gasthof Blödl in Kornburg...

German local with good cuisine. Also perfect for trade fairs or business people as a hotel alternative as it is centrally located but has the peace and quiet of the village.

Unfortunately the evening didn't go as normal!! The food came very late, sometimes only when the first person had finished eating. The food was overly spicy that evening. When we complained about this, there was no response from the waitress. except that something went wrong!!! There was no response to a proper apology or even when asked about a small thing. Unfortunately, I have to say, this is no appreciation for the customers who have been coming to eat for years. You could offer customers a coffee or a schnapps, even if something goes wrong. It would be so easy. !!!! It's just a shame that you have to leave here with a bad feeling, even though the food is otherwise always good.

Disaster! We were there last Sunday evening with 8 people as part of a birthday party. After 10 minutes, 4 drinks came and after another 10 minutes another 4. The food was also served 2 pieces approximately every 10 minutes. The first was a Cordon Bleu and the last one (over 1/2 hour later) was also a Cordon Bleu. Our hostess was given 2 bratwursts with the information that the desired side dish was no longer available and that she should choose an alternative! I had roast veal. It was warmed up in the microwave until the sauce already had a skin. 2 mini dumplings were like rubber and worse than any industrial dumpling from a cooking bag. The side salads were brought just before the last main course, but only 7 instead of 8. One person had omelette with chanterelles and potatoes - all quite oversalted. The waitress and Ms. Schmidt personally noticed the chaos, but there was no reaction or even an apology! I haven't been to Gasthof Schmidt for a long time because of exactly the same problems. The same arrogance has been at work for years: as long as guests come, it can't be that bad. I'm definitely not coming anymore...!

We were there for the first time today, the service was very friendly and the food was really tasty. We'll be back :)

Went to the beer garden for lunch. Great dishes, the veal steak with chanterelles was excellent! Plus a good small salad plate. Price/performance was absolutely fine. Gladly again.

Everything was 5*, but unfortunately the bed was too hard, but above all the feather pillow and duvet were not conducive to a comfortable sleep. Unfortunately there is no alternative in the closet. Otherwise everything was great: Familiar, cozy and the staff VERY attentive. Always worth a stay again. Menu presented very tasty...local specialties!! Will be happy to come back

Wonderful restaurant, delicious local traditional Franconian kitchen. I have been coming here once in a while since many years with my acquaintances and every time I am really happy and proud to see that they’ve preserved their quality, hospitality and culture. hope that you guys will always continue this in the future :)

We celebrated our confirmation with almost 30 guests at Gasthaus Schmidt and are full of praise. All of our guests were very satisfied with the quantities, quality and taste of the food. However, this is not a reason to leave a review. What was most memorable about this stay at Gasthaus Schmidt was the calm, calm, competent attention of Elena who served us. From the champagne reception to the payment process, Elena was always in the right place at the right time and, despite her quick work, she radiated a calmness that was transmitted to all guests. We thank you very much and give it a straight A.

The food was very good, the only thing that was a bit unfortunate was that we received our 4 dishes spread over 30 minutes. The service was very nice and attentive!

Serves a wonderful pork knuckle and asparagus soup is great

On Father's Day it was supposed to be the last stop for vespers. On this day of all days there was no vespers in the evening. Well, a delicious asparagus soup had to do. The butcher shop and asparagus sales were open. That was the deduction for eating. Otherwise highly recommended.

We were able to celebrate our son's baptism in the separate guest room, whose large doors lead directly onto the terrace. The food was very tasty, the service Elena was always friendly and on the ball and the price-performance ratio was great! For starters we had asparagus and a holiday soup. As a main course there were plenty of meat platters with party Schäuferla, schnitzels (pork/turkey) and pork medallions with side dishes. All dishes were served hot and our guests only received positive feedback. We would only have liked more space for the champagne reception. Here we stood in the outdoor area between the tables of the other guests. We are completely satisfied and will happily come back!

Have been to Gasthaus Schmidt again for a long time. Definitely a flop this time. There were four of us. The last one got his food when the first ones were finished. About the food: A salad plate was almost completely out of the bucket, not good. A roast pork, small portion, lukewarm, not particularly. I have never experienced two carp, so greasy and inedible. It's a shame, it used to be really good.

I'm really sorry, but the quality has really dropped a bit since this year :/ Our meal today really wasn't that good. Pork medallions were tough, unfortunately the fries weren't cooked through and the food portions were definitely smaller. Prices haven't really increased, but unfortunately the quality suffers. Will definitely try it again in the distant future. The new service was very friendly and nice.

We were here for the second time today. What was wonderful on the first visit from ordering to eating was such a shame today for my birthday party. It started when we ordered, Schäufele is no longer available at 12.30 p.m. then we look for something else. After ordering, the waitress came and said Knuckles were no longer available, and the mood was a bit dampened. Unfortunately only half of the food came, my roast pork was only lukewarm and the roulades. 3 people were finished eating when they said the 3 ducks would be coming soon but the dumplings weren't ready yet... it was very sad that a restaurant couldn't manage to bring the food to one table at the same time and one of them was eating to the other to be able to look. Unfortunately I have to say that's it for me and I won't be coming back.

We were here on Sunday evening and luckily we had a reservation. After some initial confusion, we were finally assigned a table and were able to order. The food, carp and sauerbraten, was very good as usual. The service was stressed but friendly and attentive.

The bratwursts we ordered, which were supposed to be Franconian, were like cheap sausages from the discount store. The accompanying potato salad was ice cold and carelessly prepared. The somewhat outdated service was Franconian stuffy and just as musty as the outdated inn. Noisy, musty, worn out because it hasn't been renovated for years. The prices are ok. - the extensive menu suggests a lot of warmed up food when it's available. Liver out - cordon bleu out - that's why we had to eat bratwursts that had the taste of Aldi, Lidl or Netto. Dear host family Schmidt - if you can't manage it due to a lack of staff, then reduce the menu and make the dishes of higher quality! Not much but good!!

Es war sehr voll, Gott sei Dank haben wir einen Tisch vorbestellt. Das Essen war sehr gut, bloß der Karpfen hätte etwas mehr Würze vertragen.

Nun am Freitag öffnet das Gasthaus um 10:30. Also haben wir uns entschieden da zu Speisen. Gegessen wurde Schnitzel Wiener Art mit Kartoffelsalat und Beilagensalat. Preislich ok, aber man darf kein Schnitzel halb Oberschale und halb Rücken oder so servieren. Das halbe Schnitzel war ok, aber die andere Hälfte nur sehnig und mit Knorpel. Leider habe ich die falsche Seite zuerst angeschnitten. Der Hunger war dann vorbei und ich habe das sehnige Fleisch abgeschnitten und das gute Teil eingepackt. Kartoffelsalat war ok, Beilagensalat ungenießbar da nur Strunkel. Schade!

Typical weekend walk resturant. A little like grandma's, you can eat well. I like the schnitzel best here. However, the weekend roasts aren't bad either. Just enjoy the area and have some good food

Good Franconian food, service also good

We were here today for the first time this year. Prices have of course increased, as expected. My wife had duck with dumpling €15.60 and I had carp fillet €16.80. My wife's duck was cold just like last time. After a few bites my wife complained. The waitress took the plate away and brought it back exactly the same after a while. Warmed up in the microwave. I think it's great for the money. My carp fillet wasn't exactly big for the price. Normally at this time (Sunday 11.30) all the tables were full. This time at least 3 were free. If you increase the prices (which is understandable) I as a guest can expect to get a decent service. If restaurateurs continue like this, they won't have to be surprised if the guests stay away. We won't be coming back any time soon.

Portions are too small. Sauerbraten 2 small slices of meat and 2 not too large dumplings. Neither of us was nearly full. Sauerbraten was missing and more gingerbread. A pity

Wir sind seit Jahren regelmäßig dort. Obwohl es meist sehr gut besucht ist, werden wir immer schnell und freundlich bedient und Getränke und Essen kommen zügig. Die Speisen sind ansprechend angerichtet, gut abgeschmeckt und gut portioniert.

Das essen und die Rouladen einfach perfekt

Das Essen war gut, nur die Salate viel zu essighaltig, schon fast unangenehm. Der Service war nett, jedoch waren die Wartezeiten etwas lang und manche am Tisch haben das Essen erst bekommen als andere schon fertig waren.

Wir haben Karpfen für zu Hause abgeholt, leider schmeckt die Panade nicht mehr, wie in der Vergangenheit und die Karpfen lagen im Bräter , wie gefreggd. Soll heißen, kein Flossen nach oben.

Diese Restaurant kann ich mit guten gewissen NICHT mehr empfehlen, seit dem die neue Generation am Werk ist. wir waren am vergangen Sonntag Essen. Tisch Bestellung u, 12.00. Zum einen war der Tisch nicht abgeräumt, hat man scheinbar vergessen. Zum andern was es auch brechend voll. Da kommt einem der Gedanke wenn sie übereinander Stapeln könnten, würden sie das tun um noch mehr kohle ab zu greifen.....naja. Bestellung 4 x Ente. Sollte eigentlich gut funktionieren. Dachte ich. 2 bekamen ihr Essen ca 15 min. nach der Bestellung. Die andern 2 bekamen ihr Essen nach dem die ersten beiden fertig waren.......Sorry Leute. Ich habe selber schon in der Gastr. gearbeitet. Wir waren immer stets bemüht ganze Tische fertig zu machen. Aber keine halben Sachen. Und zu guter wurde hier der Salat bei den letzten beiden berechnet obwohl die gar keinen bekommen haben......Das ist ein No Go. Ferner lässt hier auch der Service zu wünschen übrig. Ich habe sehr wohl Verständnis dafür das wenn die Hütte voll nicht alles super läuft, aber dann muss ich eben Leute einstellen für diesen Tag. Es gibt ja genügend die Dankbar sind über jeden Euro. Mein Fazit. Ich gehe in Zukunft woanders hin. Mir reicht es in euerem Saftladen. Entweder ist das Essen kalt, oder ich bekomme nicht das was bestellt ist, oder /und werde noch saublöd von der Seite angelabbert......... Nehmt Euch mal ein Beispiel an der Zeitenwende in Eibach...... Da ist Kunde, das ist der der Euch bezahlt noch angesehen. Ansonsten macht eueren Stall zu!!!!!

Freundliche Bedienung, Karpfen und Braten Top.

Leckere fränkische Kost. Die Roulade ein Traum. Geschmacklich top und die Sauce so cremig sämig. Der Schweinebraten war überragend. Zartes Fleisch mit 2 kleinen Knödeln und Kruste gab es extra. Erneuter Besuch am 29.10 Sehr gutes fränkisches Wirtshaus mit lecker Speisen und einem großartigen Service. Die Kruste vom Schäuferla, a Traum. Die Kürbissuppe sämig geschmacklich toll.

Mann oh Mann wie ist das denn jetzt. Wir waren jahrelang oft im Gashof in Katzwang. Gestern abend wieder einmal und - im Gegensatz zu früher - sind verblüfft. Der Service knallt die Apfelschorle auf den Tisch, ist hektisch und wirkt total gestresst. Die Kürbissuppe lecker, die Bratwürste auch. Aber das Schnitzel - minimal größer als ein Kinder Schnitzel und dies für einen "anständigen" Preis. Wir dachten uns dann lieber nichts zu sagen, da der komplette Service "am Anschlag" ging. Sorry aber das geht nicht. Für uns erledigt. Es gibt gleich gute Gaststätten in denen man mit Anstand und Respekt behandelt wird.

Essen war ok. Service weniger. Aber der Hammer war, dass für die zum Cordon Bleu mit Pommes dazu bestellte Majo (ein kleines Schälchen, Inhalt etwa eines Portionsbeutels) ernsthaft € 1,50 berechnet wurden. Das ist schon dreist. Schade. Dann nicht mehr.

Haben im Garten trotz Mittagspause ab 14.00 Uhr auf freundliche Nachfrage (auf der Webseite war durchgehend geöffnet) ein gutes Essen und sehr freundlichen Service genossen. Muss nicht immer alles online passen, der Mensch zählt. Wenn man ganz sicher gehen will, hilft ein kurzer Anruf. Ein wirklich nettes uriges Lokal. Sonntags ist es uns immer zu voll, wir lassen uns gerne Zeit, daher wochentags einfach spitze. Vielen Dank!

Wir waren am Wochenende zu einer Geburtstagsfeier im Gasthof Schmidt und haben dort ein Zimmer gehabt. Gut war es und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Das Essen ist top und wirklich preiswert

Wir waren die letzten Monate schon oft hier. Eigentlich alles gut.Heute mit zwei befreundeten Ehepaaren da, haben das Gasthaus gelobt. Und dann kam der Reinfall. Leber aus, Stadtwurst aus, stadtwurst mit Musik aus, Versperplatte haben wir auch nicht. Und so ging es weiter. Nach dem Essen habe ich sechs Kirchschnaps mit Honig bestellt. Bekamen nur noch einen. Schnaps ist aus! Okay dann Nachspeise. An der Tafel standen verschiedene Kuchen, wie alles andere auch aus. Bedienung war genervt. Als wir gingen, stand der verlockende Kuchen leider noch immer an der Tafel. Sehr enttäuscht, vom Lokal: haben wir nicht

Service völlig überfordert und nicht freundlich. 2 von 4 Essen wurden vergessen. 2 Personen satt, 2 weiter hungrig. Es würde evtl. helfen mit Mitteln zu arbeiten, die 2023 entsprechen: elektronische Bestellungen und keine Zettelwirtschaft. Das Essen was ankam war durchschnittlich. Das Ambiente auf der Terrasse ok, innen würden wir nicht essen wollen.

Essen sehr gut, manchmal ist die Bedienung überfordert da zuviele Personen da sind.

Der Altersdurchnschnitt des Lokals liegt bei 75 Jahren, es ist, als ob man im Wohnstift zu Mittag isst. Und so ist auch der Anspruch der Küche: nur das Notwendigste machen, die Alten essen alles. Ich habe selten eine so unmotiviertes Lokal gesehen. Klar kann man das essen, sicher ist es besser als Essen auf Räder, aber auch nicht viel mehr. meine Frau hatte einen kleinen Karpfen bestellt, es kam ein riesiges Teil mit fast einem Kilo. Auf Nachfragen entgegenete die Bedienung, wir haben keine Kleineren. Keine Entschuldigung, Nix. Wir waren zu viert, die 3 verschiedenen Gerichte kamen nicht gleichzeitig, der Erste hatte schon fast aufgegessen, als die 2 Karpfen kamen. Der Seniorchef läuft ohne Maske durchs Lokal und begrüsst die Gäste !!! Nie wieder.
