We ate at Borchardt on a Saturday evening and found the food very good. The service was very attentive and the choice of wines was also wide. The four stars are linked to the conditions of the bathroom, which in a place of this type should always be well looked after and which in fact was not. Prices are above average. Update 09/2024 four stars confirmed although some waiters deserve six.

Good food. The main dish is the fried cutlet. Noisy. Good waiting times.

Well, sporty prices with uncomfortable seats. Extremely loud inside, there was smoking outside. Eating takes forever! So it's better to go with a full stomach. Sat outside because our reservation was unknown, patio heaters were blazing hot at the back and cold at the front. I've been waiting for the main course for 2 hours now...

Service: I booked through The Fork, but the reservation was never recorded. A robotic woman at the front door bounced us to a man who sorted things out by assigning us a nice table. Nice waiters. Food: incredibly disappointing. The pumpkin soup was really watery, and Angus filet and schnitzel were ok-ish. Ambience: ultrabasic design and terrible lighting, the twilight atmosphere made me feel like lighting a bonfire in the middle of the restaurant! Long story short, for the exorbitant bill you pay here, in Berlin, I'd go somewhere else!

Great atmosphere, fun experience to go with friends. However, Service is very slow and the food is definitely overpriced. €6 0+ EUR for a vegan schnitzel & glass of wine feels unfair

Yeah, it's more like being in a market hall. Very loud, crowded, bustling, nothing special to eat. You have to like it or not.

It's a fun place with a good atmosphere, but the service, although very friendly, was very inattentive. I had to flag down our waiter on numerous occasions, not great when you're entertaining. The food is ok, schnitzel is schnitzel I suppose, but it's very one dimensional here.

This place is considered ultra-fashionable, gathering the entire elite of Berlin. Of course, it’s nice to admire stylish people here and feel the atmosphere of an eternal party. However, the rest leaves much to be desired - the food is mediocre, the cocktails are nothing special, the waiters are arrogant, and the service is insanely long. It is not entirely clear on what basis waiters decide to be more friendly - do they judge by the cost of the watch on their wrist? There are many restaurants in Berlin with much more friendly service, delicious food and a pleasant atmosphere.

Nice building and vibes, but the service should be better. Waited 35 mins to order when the restaurant was quiet and half empty. Can't imagine how it'd be during actual dinner/lunch time. The vegan schnitzel was pretty good, the tuna steak was just ok. The wakame and teriyaki tasted almost like store bought to me... overall seems like a lazy interpretation for a tuna steak menu in my opinion. Missed opportunity, what a shame.

A classic - the schnitzel was so great. We will definitely come back when we are in Berlin. We also tried the steak tartare and it was excellent! Unfortunately the service was a bit slow.

A great Wiener Schnitzel at Borchardt! Overall, my visit to the Borchardt restaurant in Berlin was a positive experience. The atmosphere is lively, which gives the restaurant a charming character. The Wienerschnitzel was delicious. The combination with the traditional potato salad and cranberries was simply delicious and rounded off the dish perfectly. The service was also very attentive and friendly. Overall, I can recommend the Borchardt! If you are in Berlin and want a delicious Wiener Schnitzel, you should stop by.

Too overcrowded, totally overpriced, kitchen only standard maybe brewhouse level and the service is overwhelmed. Unfortunately not worth a visit, there are much better addresses in Berlin for the prices. BUT the guests are stylish and relaxed, so I still give it 2 stars.

We ate a very tasty Wiener Schnitzel with fried potatoes and cucumber salad. The schnitzel is so big that it extends over the edge of the plate. Our waiter was super friendly and always had a smile for us. The atmosphere in the garden is very pleasant. The only drawback is that the prices have now risen significantly and you pay over 40.00 euros for a schnitzel with side dishes. And what's also really terrible are all the influencers who constantly take photos of themselves and are just annoying!!!🤳🤳🤳🤨

The schnitzel we ate was a bit bland. As for the quality-price ratio, I would say that it is average, it does not fully meet expectations. In addition, the lighting of the place could be improved, since it negatively influences the atmosphere of the establishment. Recommendation, put candles on the tables.

Unfortunately I have to evaluate the current situation. What comes out of the kitchen is simply a disgrace. The halibut wasn't cooked through at first and then came out of the kitchen on the second attempt totally overheated and dry. The steak we ordered was done. Luckily you could eat it without complaining. It was very juicy which was good. It would probably have tasted better if it had been grilled medium, but it was still good. As always, the service was a 10 out of 10. That's actually not the problem. I hope that the kitchen will return to its former glory due to vacation or the end of the holiday season. Otherwise there is only one thing left. Eat schnitzel. They always get it...

Food was good and authentic. Although not very busy, unfortunately the service was particularly bad. Friendly but just very very slow. Atmosphere was nice. Outdoor dinning had a nice patio in the back though get a bit dark after sunset. Best was the ribeye steak, gratin potatoes, and strawberry dessert

Who doesn't know Borchardt? Food was good, it tasted good. I sometimes find the staff over the top. And sometimes a little too friendly. The ambience is quite good. If you go here you can't go wrong.

We had a great evening at Borchardt, but only thanks to our great and hospitable waiter Krystian! Absolutely world class service, very attentive, quick and accurate service. And always a smile on your lips! Definitely one of the best waiters at Borchardt :) we'll always be happy to come back!

Top restaurant. Schnitzel with warm potato salad is a real treat, but too much for just one person. Beautiful courtyard, friendly and fast service. The bread served with the salty butter tasted very good. I wasn't disappointed, as I definitely wanted to visit this location for my trip to Berlin. Prices are high, but the quality is good. And the last shirt has no pockets. I'll be back.

Everything is great and it's more of a complaint at a high level. Nevertheless, Wiener Schnitzel is my favorite food and unfortunately it's not the best. Unfortunately the potato salad with it is nothing. Nevertheless, I love the atmosphere and eating there every now and then should be fine.

Dinner at the Berliner Lipp. Place steeped in history. Disappointed by a limited menu and very high prices for the quality of the dishes offered. I felt like I was in Charlottenburg!!!

I am correcting my original review after yesterday. If you don't want courteous service and want to accept everything because that's the way it is, this seems to be the right place for you at the moment. Don't think that as a customer you are king 👑. Order overpriced food and keep your mouth shut. The portion of chanterelles was really a joke and unfortunately the meat from the schnitzel wasn't good either. With increased prices, I expect the quality not to decrease, although I was already skeptical when the food was on the table after less than 10 minutes. At the end we were allowed to beg to be allowed to pay and had the card reader slammed on the table.

Exclusive restaurant in the center of Berlin. We ordered the most famous dish here, the Wiener Schnitzel with potato salad and jam. Delicious and giant. If you don't eat a lot, I think it's better to share. Very fast service and I ordered an exquisite margarita. Note: you must reserve in advance. Why wouldn't I give 5 stars: we went in the summer, and around 6:30 pm. Around 7 to 8 pm, the place fills up, and it was Monday. So I think they try to get a lot of people on the terrace. And we had a table 10 cm from us where people were also smoking. This, plus the noise, does not allow you to talk and enjoy the experience that you generally expect in an exclusive place.

We went there spontaneously for lunch last Sunday. A nice location, good food (although the steak could have been a little more tender) and very good service. However, the prices are high. All in all we were satisfied.

Misplaced arrogance best describes the atmosphere at this once bright and noble Berlin meeting place for the educated. Today it is dreary. The waiters would fit better outside the doors of Berlin's Berghain techno bunker. At lunch on a dirty deck we received not a single smile or sign of welcoming hospitality. Followed by the most disgusting lunch we have experienced in a long time. Watermelon that had absorbed the taste and smell of, most likely, the fish it was stored next to in the kitchen refrigerators. Mediocre side dishes. Cry without a soul. Even the guests seemed low-energy, uninspired, and looked like budget vacationers from tunnels and bridges to Jersey Shore campers. Past Glory. No thanks. Berlin today has much more elegant and tempting things to offer.

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Berlin - the service is always great and the atmosphere as well. You cannot argue that the schnitzel at Borchardt is one of the best ones out there. We had such a lovely date night there and will definitely be back. 🥰🙌🏼

The nice welcome and the attention of the staff were very nice. We went there upon recommendation and we ate a really delicious meat schnitzel. The portion is quite large, the potato salad and sweet sauce on the side are delicious. If I go to Berlin again, it is a restaurant I will definitely visit to eat schnitzel.

I don’t understand what the big deal is. Food is way average. Servers are trying very hard but besides “ to see and seen”, i would not go there for food.

Borchi always works. Service is always nice, attentive and the food is also good. No matter whether oysters, schnitzel or salad. Always fresh and delicious. The club downstairs is usually always fun. You can actually always stop here, you can never do anything wrong. Also great location.

It's very cool, quite fashionable. The Wiener Schnitzel for Berlin is still good but being Austrian...no. Large quantities, yes, but the meat is too fat. Good quality without being excellent. Price on the high side at almost 40 euros.

You shouldn't come at all on weekends. We had reserved for 9 p.m., we had the table at 11 p.m. and our food at midnight. Nowadays everyone is allowed into the shop, no matter how anti-social they look and behave, on the first floor people simply smoke/vape e-shisha at the tables, the Borchardt no longer seems to value a certain standard of its guests as it used to place. Now it's just mass processing to make as much profit as possible, no good service and no pleasant guests.

I have never eaten such a world-class Wiener Schnitzel, even in Vienna. The service is absolutely perfect. The ambience completes the restaurant experience. The cozy inner courtyard invites you to enjoy. We got this address based on a recommendation. Don't hesitate to visit this restaurant.

We went there on a recommendation. There were no celebrities there 😅 but there was the tastiest Wiener Schnitzel we have eaten so far. We didn't even eat it like that in Vienna. The location looks rustic, but with a very nice courtyard charm. The staff is friendly and not intrusive. It was a very nice stay.

Berlin Freak Show á la carte ...so to demand a 10 to 15 percent tip with such poor service is just audacious. The schnitzel was definitely from Uncle Adi's shoe soles. The whole clientele is just ridiculous, you can't buy style, you're not in St. Tropez, the food and service are miles away, the wine list is great, but unfortunately the good ones are missing There was no advice, but you couldn't ask the staff present to read the menu or name the wines. You can't run a traditional house with the service of a shisha bar, or maybe we didn't look freaky enough, passed the table several times without a reaction, the table went crazy twice while eating, just really bad.. Friendliness out of place, or artificial like the clientele's Botox eaters.. Bismarck would be turning in his grave. ..price performance without words

The oysters were of excellent quality. You can definitely treat yourself to a specialty for 5 euros a piece. The steak entrecote in the main course was excellent. Cooked to perfection. The Bernaise sauce was homemade. I haven't had such a great sauce in a long time. The waiters were real professionals. Very attentive and experienced. Not any temporary help like in other restaurants. Overall a great experience! Of course a little more expensive than a normal restaurant, but you're happy to pay a little more for that. Overall, the quality in German restaurants has declined significantly. Unfortunately in Germany you have to pay at least 30 euros for a dish so that you don't get ready-made hollandaise/Bernaise. Then I'd rather go to Borchardt and cook myself once instead of going to a "normal" restaurant twice. Thank you Restaurant Borchardt!

Host and Restaurant Manager „ULF“ handles the Friday which is usually very crowded as best as possible… if you like Schnitzel order it at Borchardt! Friday is very busy so be prepared to wait. It it’s worth! Staff was also in 2024 so far very nice

The food is really great, definitely worth it. The starter was very tasty with burrata and pineapple carpaccio. The schnitzel is also a classic. Unfortunately we were very unlucky with the waitress, she dropped things several times and when the beer came with too much foam, she reacted annoyed and cheeky.

A restaurant where you can enjoy German cuisine. The atmosphere in the back garden was nice and open, but it felt a bit cramped due to the number of tables. How sad can a plate look (small schnitzel) Totally overrated. A small cola €4.50, vegan schnitzel normal portion with some potato salad €32. We waited an hour for food. Plus, was my Coke forgotten at the beginning or was I told they were looking for who ordered it? Sorry for these prices absolutely not acceptable. A vegan soy steak costs perhaps €0.60 to purchase. Here you pay for the image and the location. The tables outside in the courtyard are so close together that you can hear everything the neighbors are saying. It has no flair. Just mass production. Everything is more appearance than reality.

The Borchardt still lives from the splendor of old times - but in my opinion it no longer fully lives up to its reputation. The service was nice and attentive. Unfortunately, the table was not set properly and there were no knives, forks and napkins for two people. When we got the cutlery, a fork and a knife were dirty and were brought back straight away after we complained. The Wiener Schnitzel costs €36 and is unfortunately too expensive for the taste experience on offer. It is no different from a good schnitzel for €25, which is already in the upper price range. The potato salad was underneath the huge schnitzel, which I didn't find very aesthetically pleasing. The Borchardt has also advertised public viewing on their website - which in practice means they have set up a television in a small side room. Mood = zero. Unfortunately no need to repeat: The very high price, service and food do not match here. There are other addresses in Berlin that do justice to their price.

The place is nice except the arrogant and rude bouncers in the late night. Just went out for fresh air for one minute, then I was rejected to enter again even though my hat and unfinished drink was still inside. She just told me with her nose that I can just pick up it the next day. Absurd service!

One of my favorite restaurants in Berlin. The Wiener Schnitzel is world class. The service is very attentive and professional. This is where celebrities meet. And there is a reason for this.

All in all it was a really good performance 😊 Despite it being busy, I wasn't overlooked, so orders were responded to at short notice. The service staff I dealt with were always friendly and in a good mood and my fillet + summer vegetables were delicious. I like 🙌🏻 Absolute recommendation.

Waiter smelled of sweat, rarely came by, knocked over glasses. Audience and other guests were inconsiderately loud and had bad manners. The European Championship game was actually blown out of the water - although we thought we'd go to a fancy restaurant to get away from the noise. All in all, it wasn't the well-known Borchardt but more like the Augustiner Bräu around the corner, only more expensive

High prices - but not high quality of food & service. Tafelspitz as the dish of the day was already sold out/unable to order at 2 (!) p.m. 🙈Simple fish soup for a whopping €35 was declared as “Bouillabaisse”. Management of the restaurant needs to visit France or at least check on the internet what bouillabaisse means. Dumplings for €25 tasted like nothing, plus overly salty mashed potatoes. Won't go there again-:(

Completely overpriced food and no better than in any good village restaurant, non-transparent advice on food and wine, ambience does not match the price structure, too crowded, too loud. Despite having a reservation, we were allocated completely insufficient space for two people and only lives on the old sound.

Famous for its schnitzel, it's a very noisy place, quite expensive and, after all, the schnitzel isn't even all that great.

Disappointing. We've been coming to Borchardt during our Berlin holidays for years, but this time we were rather disappointed. We had reserved. At the beginning a receptionist greeted us, then regular guests came from behind and we were simply left standing. Those behind us were then led to the square. Another employee then asked us if we had a reservation. Bad start. The food was better there, schnitzel very dry. It's probably just the celebrities' canteen. A pity.

Service is very good, food ok but google map do mistake. This is not German cusin, just Fance food. Dishesh are so small... Not recoment!

Waited 2 hours for food, nothing but an apology and clearing up is too much to ask. And that for a schnitzel that is too thick and costs >35€. Couch was anything but suitable for dining. It's a shame that Roland doesn't get Mary's fill and offers so many tables that the kitchen can't handle for a long time. The audience is U20 and nouveau riche. The air in all rooms is cutting and unfortunately there is smoking in the club.

This restaurant is part of Berlin's cultural heritage. Every celebrity hangs out here from A to Z. The food tastes excellent, unfortunately the service is sometimes a disaster (you make a reservation and still wait a long time for your table), the ambience is 10/10 🥂

Magnificent place to eat and enjoy an unforgettable moment, the music, the service, the food and its magnificent Schnitzel, the best I have ever eaten, with its cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes along with a bit of wine make it difficult to beat. Great moment in Berlin.

On April 25th, we were asked to leave the local at a business lunch on the grounds that the crowds were so high and that more guests were waiting for free tables. I have enjoyed going out to Essen very often for 40 years and also in the higher categories. Something like this has never happened to me in my entire life. Admittedly, we only dined with three people for a total of €250 and that was perhaps below the turnover level of the table. We were now unable to create a nice experience with our customer, whom we had invited, and the whole evening was and remains a huge failure.

Everything has been said about this place, even in the media! A big movie theater.
