Worst asparagus I've ever eaten... The staff was very cold and impersonal. I don't understand the hype surrounding this restaurant at all. Unfortunately, it's not worth a cent.

For several years now, Borchardt, which I have valued since 1999, has not been very attractive. Mediocre food, not great service, measly wine list, always overcrowded... That has changed: The celebrity store is still overcrowded, but: The food was good to very good, the service was much better than before, the wine list was high-priced, but with class. If you like it loud and hustle and bustle: Borchardt is worth it again!

I was there with three children and reserved a table in the inner area but then got the table directly by the kitchen. As a father with three children, I unfortunately didn't get the table that was promised but rather a table exactly where the food was served. With three small children we paid €320 and were treated relatively poorly. A cocktail broke right next to us and I had splinters in my face, but no one really cared. That's a real shame, you expected more here. Food was great, wine and Expresso Martini too. Unfortunately, the location's obvious shortcomings were not taken into account. That's a no go! A restaurant that advertises such a historic past on its website needs to react better here. Too bad!!!

We had reserved a table for 3 people at 8:45 p.m. and were informed on site that the 3rd person was no longer coming. After 30 We waited a few minutes and then left because we were always held back with the words: “just a moment” and other people were given a table before us.

Overall, everything is a bit overestimated. The food was okay, but by no means lived up to the above-average price (Wiener Schnitzel with potato salad: €34). The waiter was friendly and quick. The allocation of seats was unclear - despite reservations. While the restaurant was still largely empty, a table was reserved DIRECTLY next to us (20 cm as the crow flies). The atmosphere is somewhere between the train station and the hotel lobby - quite loud and quite restless due to the bustling waiters. Not a direct recommendation, but I can do it.

Unfortunately, our visit to Borchardt was anything but the upscale experience we had hoped for. There is definitely potential, but the current condition is simply unacceptable and does not meet the standards of an upscale restaurant. The biggest problem started with the placement: we were actually put into a makeshift backyard tent that had absolutely nothing to do with stylish ambience. Instead, there was a total cafeteria vibe – cold, uncomfortable, loveless. A tent as an extension of a supposedly renowned restaurant is an absolute no-go. The service seamlessly adapted to this bad impression: unfriendly, annoyed and extremely slow. It took over an hour before our food was finally served - without any explanation or word of apology. Unfortunately the food was also a disappointment. Even the starter, a goat cheese with salad, left a lot to be desired. The cheese tasted old and inferior - no trace of superior quality. The main course finally brought the frustration to overflowing: My medium rare steak was cold in places! Something like that simply shouldn't happen in an upscale restaurant. Overall, the Borchardt leaves the impression of relying solely on its name without actually offering any quality or service. The potential is there, but the current state is far from what one would expect. Price-performance ratio is not right here at all. Definitely not recommended in its current condition.

No, it's way too crowded there. The tables are close together and it's loud like a train station. There is no privacy, everything you discuss with your companion is heard by strangers. It's very uncomfortable there. Next time we'll go somewhere else.

Visiting local institutions like Borchardt is usually a good choice. In this case, definitely. Super delicious food paired with a cozy atmosphere and a great service team.

The service and food here are beyond reproach. First-class quality of products that you can also taste. Unfortunately, this is coupled with the atmosphere of a train station hall, far too loud and lots of people standing around trying to watch the food on your plate.

The steak was excellent with spinach and béarnaise sauce! The service was very friendly. We sat in the annex, which was a bit dim and the seating was cramped.

Unfortunately disappointing. The restaurant was completely overcrowded and the tables were extremely close together. We were put in a side room that was separated by a wooden wall and a parasol - not very inviting. The noise level was so high that normal conversation was hardly possible. We booked at this restaurant thinking of spending a quiet evening... Instead we found ourselves in a kind of festival, where if you're lucky you eat at your leisure, otherwise they place the table in passing areas where you have to pray so that they don't spill the food on you... an unimaginable confusion, and customers of truly dubious taste... bordering on trash! Too bad because the cutlet deserved it!

The food was good but not as exceptional as you might expect for the money. The operator seemed distant and impersonal, but did his job properly. A lot of tables in a relatively small space give the impression of a large canteen. The lighting could be brighter.

Actually, this is no longer a meeting of politicians and journalists. It's a trendy pub with great food in (partly) historical settings. We were there on Friday evening. The average age of the audience was 25. Lots of dressed-up girls as if they were looking for a dating partner, guys like real estate agents who have loud video calls and film themselves during the meal, rich bouncers, a few older guests, not very dignified overall. Very loud, very colorful. We made reservations but got a place in an annex that looked very shabby and cheap. A waiter brought four Viennese glasses of different sizes. The food was really good, especially file and schnitzel. The wine not that good. I can only advise against bouillabaisse, it has nothing in common with French soup. Otherwise: If you like loud and young surroundings and want good food that isn't very expensive, you can feel really good here.

In short, the schnitzel was tasty, but it felt mass-produced at a premium price. I was here with friends to toast my birthday. The first hurdle, the entrance, the clunky cloakroom hinders entry and exit, guests coming and going meet in the already squat entrance area and it quickly builds up. Overall very messy. It's better to come in summer without a jacket or away from peak times. We were then seated tightly at a table, the waiters were always running, slightly overwhelmed and it generally seemed understaffed. Because many guests are forced into a small space. Comfortable is different. The food was great, you can't complain and the portions were sufficient. Just one. For the price, I would have liked a little more attention to detail, such as a little bag to hold the lemon, to catch the seeds, etc. I've already seen something like that with veal schnitzel for 10 euros less. After all, it was veal.

Great place and good food. It was a horrible and difficult staff that ruined the experience quite a bit. They had no control over allergy meals, and in addition, most of them were creepy in the way they chatted to us.

Extremely loud inside, very hectic, completely overpriced and the food is no better than at any snack bar. The potato salad from the supermarket tastes better. The Wiener Schnitzel is okay. The vegan Wienerschnitzel is just embarrassing for the price! You are really ripping off people and fooling people! The crème brûlée couldn't have been less for the price with a bowl height of about 1cm. It wasn't firm enough and here again the supermarket is better.

Interesting experience in an absolutely traditional restaurant. Not exactly cheap. You should expect 100 EUR per head. But definitely worth an experience.

I was there twice, once down with the grade A and Half a year later on the 1st floor, the food was of top quality again, a little too little (I had a starter & main course & dessert = and wasn't full), it was far too loud, the service was, to say the least, very inattentive and quite taciturn, stressed and argued in front of the guest. Furthermore, the young people up to 40 left their behavior at home on this Friday evening!!! Especially the ladies. It's a shame, it's overrated.

Very famous place for their renowned weiner schnitzel... it's crowded, it's very noisy, food is really good and service is good too. It's a very traditional restaurant that serves aprox. 600 weiner schnitzels on a normal day. The meat comes with a potato salad which you can change to different side alternatives. I saw yesterday the meat comes with a lemon you have to squeeze on top... very recommended to do that. Portions are big, so if you are not too hungry, order the weiner schnitzel to share. I have to say that at our table, all the locals + all the visitors ate the full portion, except for the only american guy that was with us... LOL. Food and conversation was soo good I forgot to take pictures. P.S. They have a vegan schnitzel option!!

Unfortunately I was disappointed, we were sitting at the pool table on the 1st floor in a large group, we could hardly talk and it was very uncomfortable. The food was rather poor for the price and hardly salted. There was no option to add salt. The fish was too dry and without lemon and 3/5 people felt bad after the schnitzel that same evening. :( the cranberries only came after the schnitzel had been cold for a long time, and it was on top of the potato salad, which made everything a huge slush on the plate. In the end, everyone smelled of frying fat, which is not what you really want for the price and the occasion. :/

Not because the food is that good, but because there’s some major Fair happening in town, and the owners clearly decided, Why not cram in as many people as possible and milk the moment for all it’s worth? Comfort? Who needs it? Ambience? Who cares! If you enjoy being treated like an inconvenience, love waiting 45 minutes for 45 Euro schnitzel then book a table.

Our expectations were exceeded. The "small" Viennese schnitzel is very large and, in combination with the potato salad, mega-tasty. The tables are close together, but that doesn't bother you. Food varies a lot, must be due to the different chefs. Especially with Königsberger Klöpse. Sometimes great, sometimes supermarket. In 9 out of 10 cases you can completely forget about service here. Wish the service would be greatly improved and the food more consistent. Too expensive for the quality. You can eat better in many other ways.

Visit March 2025 Conclusion: completely overrated! A table for two people was reserved (four weeks before) We would be assigned a place in the tent annex: Dark, stuffy, loud! The guests were seated on lawn chairs, crammed together at tiny tables that were close together. The aisles between the rows of tables were so narrow that you had to constantly endure a person walking through the aisle with their backside over the table. We didn't want to go through that with a full plate: we left the restaurant before we ordered. Eating well in a pleasant atmosphere is certainly different!

The Borchardt rightly has the reputation of offering the best schnitzel in the city. (I didn't eat all the schnitzels in Berlin (according to KI that would be 2976 pieces) but the one at Borchardt was definitely terrific. The very cozy, typical Preusish ambience in the Borchardt suggests that a number of political questions have already been discussed there. The service is professional, friendly but not too chummy. The food was really great. If you want to take your mother-in-law out of the Palatinate, you've come to the right place!

I wanted to come eat here but unfortunately had to find out through a TikTok that black people were racially discriminated against here because of their skin color. Too bad. Will avoid the store.

The quality of the food was satisfactory, although not all dishes were available. I chose beef fillet with potato gratin, grilled vegetables and Bernaise sauce. Unfortunately, only French fries were available on Saturday, which were unfortunately very hard and dry; However, the other dishes were good. The service, on the other hand, needs urgent improvement. The initially good service decreased significantly after serving and there was no further demand for drinks or the like. We expect a significant increase in service quality here. The ambience also has room for improvement: the table arrangement was too narrow and the tea light holders provided were not equipped; There were only three unused Ikea tea lights on the table.

What a fun place to visit and take in the vibes. I came from New York for my birthday dinner and it was very appropriate for the occasion. The schnitzel is one of the best things I’ve eaten and I enjoyed it with a pornstar martini. Service was spotty but can be expected from a busy place. Environment is gorgeous and would love to go back

It's been years since my visit and you can't deny my experience!!! The interior is reminiscent of a canteen. It's probably meant to be super hip & chic, but unfortunately the restaurant has terrible decor for my taste. We reserved a table for 4 people here and were so unhappy with how the place looked that we were offered a table downstairs. I ordered a Wiener Schnitzel because it was recommended to me at Borchardts and it arrived super cold. Given that the schnitzels are supposed to be so popular here, that's not possible! Before paying, I would recommend that everyone take a good look at the bill first, because we ended up with a lot of things that we hadn't ordered. Correcting the bill was an enormous burden for the waiter.

With star restaurateur Roland Maly. 170 years of company history, now in the hands of Roland since 1992. Well-run, but spartan restaurant not visible. I was in this famous German restaurant yesterday and unfortunately I have to say that expectations were not quite met. The restaurant was overcrowded and the tables were so tightly packed that there was hardly any space and you couldn't have a private conversation. The service was quick and courteous. The prices are high for unspectacular dishes: the classic schnitzel was large and tasty, the potato salad was ok, but nothing more than that. Unfortunately overrated: you don't pay for the food but for the snobbish clientele. So if you like being surrounded by special, “rich” or elite people, this is the right place for you. The schnitzel was okay. But really not wow. The atmosphere is rather cool. But service was really very friendly and accommodating.

Even diplomats like me will probably be put in the back of the tent. Atmosphere like in a train station hall. Tables crowded together. Chairs very uncomfortable. I stay in 5 star hotels up and down the country and can judge it. Borchardt is about quantity rather than class. Too bad.

We reserved 8 seats at 10:30pm but the restaurant is crowded. We have to wait around 15 mins to get table (although we reserved) we got the place downstair. Maybe it our fault that didn‘t expect that it gonna be like a club at downstair. The waiter didn’t mention it also. We checked the reviews and it looks like a dining restaurant, but it’s not. So if you want a place for talking and eating pleasantly - not dancing and all over with smoking, don‘t forget to reserve EG floor!! Moreover, we ordered Whiskey sour at the bar but one of them came with decorated fruit but two not, the bar was very busy and the bartender spoke with us not so nice. However, the waiter who took care of our table is nice. The food is ok, schnitzel is huge.

The whole thing was significantly disappointing. Advertised like the European Court in Heidelberg or the Breidenbacherhof in Düsseldorf... unfortunately the complete opposite. The restaurant is cold and carelessly decorated. Reminiscent of a cafeteria in historical walls. The service was inattentive and not really professional! However, I expect this in this price segment! The Wieberschnitzel was swimming in fat, was okay but not justified for this price. When we made the staff aware of deficiencies, we were told that this happens when there is a lot of crowds... bulk instead of great... unfortunately I can't recommend the restaurant and have to put this complaint online via Google... personally I wasn't asked whether it was tasty or not I would like to point out something, when I commented something it was put aside without comment... it's a shame

The food is delicious, but a waiter kicked over my bag and brazenly ignored the action. But the manager of the restaurant also shows catastrophic behavior! When I pointed out his waiter's behavior, he said that's just the way it is. And he even saw it but he still didn't seem to care. This restaurant is not a snack bar but a well-respected establishment. What a shame, unfortunately it was my last time there.
