Completely overwhelmed and unfriendly – ​​a huge disappointment! We had a reservation at the restaurant and were accompanied by guests from abroad. Nevertheless, upon arrival, we were told that we would have to wait an hour despite having a reservation – an absolute disgrace! The restaurant manager (whoever that is) was completely overwhelmed at the reception, as were the waiters, who seemed neither friendly nor organized. It was particularly unpleasant to have to offer our guests such a chaotic experience.

The food was okay, but the service was rude. I sat alone, was served in a rush, and it was very loud. Other tables received significantly more attention. No "goodbye" from the server when I didn't leave a tip. Only the lady at the cloakroom was friendly. For me, once and never again.

We made a reservation at this German restaurant for lunch. The service was okay, but our main dishes were left out initially. The tartar and schnitzel were delicious, and the portions were generous. However, the seasonal menu of the deer was average.

My sister loved it, but I also loved the place, but the food wasn't as good as I expected. While I've had super delicious food in smaller neighborhood places, this one wasn't exactly delicious for me. But it was still well above average in every way. The place and its clientele are very pleasant, and the ambiance is sweet. The service was superb.

There seems to be a schnitzel production line in the kitchen, where meat (or similar), bread rolls, and butter-free fat come in at the front, resulting in perfectly thin schnitzel slices that, at first glance, look appealing, but ultimately come across as somewhat unloving, lacking in flavor, and extremely standardized. The cranberries were delicious...

Fine dining, very tasty, but the atmosphere is a bit hectic. Seating is relatively close. There's hardly any waiting time. A selection of vegan dishes is available. The menu changes regularly.

If you know you know and if you don’t know now you do … Let's begin with the Schnitzel ... Its unwavering and delicious as always. I also love that you can order half “lighter” portion. The drinks are great: The Espresso Martini (not too sweet) and the Pornstar Martini (just right). Sadly I can’t have cucumber salad but the alternative green salad is not recommend if you expect more than a bit of lettuce with tomatoes. The always very busy staff was super fast and nice as always. It’s an institution of Berlin’s places to eat. Unfortunately the past years the vibe has become a tad chavvy mixed with the usual Berlin snobs. It’s been missing the hot weird Berlin … but why not revive it!?

⭐ 1 Star Review I had a very unpleasant and discriminatory experience at this branch today. I received an email from DHL that my package was available for pickup, and I went there with my valid ID and DHL app showing the confirmation. A blonde woman, around her 30s or 40s, refused to give me my package and rudely said there was nothing under my name, even though I showed proof. Later, I sent my girlfriend to pick it up with the same information, and she received the package immediately — meaning it was there all along. This is not the first time this has happened to me at this branch, and I have even seen this same woman treat other people (for example, a Muslim father who didn’t speak perfect German) the same way. This behavior is unacceptable and clearly discriminatory. I hope Deutsche Post takes this seriously and investigates this kind of behavior. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect regardless of skin color or background

The food and service are absolutely top-notch! The food is outstanding – especially the schnitzel! The presentation is a bit dated, but still nice.

I was there last Friday for lunch at 2 p.m. - Although it was only half full at about 2 p.m., it took quite a while before we could place our order. In my opinion, everything is largely prepared externally. The side dishes were almost tasteless. After the meal, I ordered the bill because you're often pressed for time at lunch. The waiter, however, preferred to clear three tables completely before turning his attention to us. That was my last time there. I don't want to see politicians anymore anyway.

If you want to see celebrities and eat delicious food, this is the place for you

The food was good, but unfortunately, the service wasn't great. We had to wait quite a long time for simple beers. They were only half full (€8) and sometimes not cold. The fries were cold, but they were replaced with fresh ones upon request. Given the prices, we expected better service.

We were there for lunch. After a glass of champagne, we had a very good choice of Wiener schnitzel and veal liver "Berliner" style. A very friendly waiter served us, and the ambiance is a feast for the eyes anyway. We'd love to go back!

Borchardt is an exceptional place to celebrate special occasions or have a date. Perfect german food, made of high-quality ingredients, in combination with sweet cocktail and freshly-made bread will gift you one of the best gastronomical experiences of your whole life. Atmosphere is quite fancy, and the food prices are higher than in ordinary places in Berlin, and it is totally justified, given the history of the place and the level of service. And all I would say — it is definitely worth every spent euro! I would like to visit this place one more time (or ten times more) Would definitely recommend! This was not the best Wiener Schnitzel I ever had but it was very good nonetheless. So was the service. The atmosphere of this place is special. I will certainly visit again.

I came here because the meat schnitzel is very famous. The portions are huge. The price is above average, but it's really filling. The flavor is quite good; I went on a Sunday and didn't have to wait in line. The service was quick.

I've been to Borchardt 2-3 times before, and each time I was only moderately impressed. Now, eight months pregnant, I met up there with a group of friends (in the end, there were seven of us). The reception itself was an outrage: five receptionists looked me up and down. I was dressed according to the dress code (designer outfit, Prada bag), just without high heels. Nevertheless, the young ladies sent me outside, saying there were no seats available. The place was half empty, and I, heavily pregnant, was left standing on the street again. Only when my friend approached the restaurant manager, Ulf, was a table suddenly available for us—albeit in a small room off the main lobby. When I asked, the receptionists "knew nothing." It was outrageous to treat a pregnant woman like that. The same impression continued with the food: the signature Wiener schnitzel came with a tiny dollop of potato salad for a whopping €36. The non-alcoholic white wines were undrinkable. My partner paid about €80 for a meal and four drinks. The bill was also incorrect – instead of the Rémy Martin I ordered, a different cognac was listed at twice the price. Complaining? Pointless. The service was generally poor: Three waiters, who were on first-name terms throughout, took over 30 minutes each to take our orders and prepare the bill. On top of that, the lighting was so dim that we could barely see our food. Nothing was changed when we asked. The bottom line: A lot of fuss for nothing. Incorrect bill, overpriced and poor food, poor service. Definitely not going back.

Positives: To avoid disappointment, I followed the advice of previous guests who had left reviews and ordered "the" "Wiener Schnitzel," much to the dismay of my Austrian host, and it was indeed good. The wine selection is well-curated but disproportionately expensive. Negatives: However, the establishment is extremely noisy, to the point where you have to shout to be heard, even at a table of four. Furthermore, it's obvious that the clientele comes mainly to be seen locally. The men are in suits and the women are "dressed up," for a place similar to any neighborhood brasserie you'd find on every street corner in France. In short, a lot of noise for nothing: a storm in a teacup, as they say. On the other hand, I can confirm that the prices are exorbitant for a restaurant of this caliber. It's a shame, but I suppose the clientele likes it and it's their way of standing out from the rest of the population... (in the absence of other tangible means to do so?) In short, I didn't find a single good quality restaurant in Berlin, whereas last week in Dortmund, I had two excellent surprises, with prices more than half the price.

After 6 years in Berlin, we tried Borchardt. Mainly to see if there was anything culinary behind the "see and be seen" reputation. Food: The vegan (!) schnitzel, which we'd read good things about online, came with an anchovy on the plate. It tasted nothing special, comparable to a ready-made schnitzel from the supermarket. At €39, it was definitely not good value for money. The potato salad was okay, but also nothing special. The Wiener Schnitzel (€42) tasted very good, but I also found the price excessive. Service: Friendly and okay, but it doesn't justify the high prices either. Conclusion: You're mainly paying for the hype here, not the quality or the atmosphere. Therefore, we wouldn't recommend it.

I tried cod for the first time instead of schnitzel, and I received a great recommendation for an alcohol-free Riesling. Overall, it was an okay experience, but I found it to be overpriced for the quality of the food. It seems that the pricing is more about the location and status than the quality of the meal itself.

Ridiculously overpriced snob place. We were seated in a sort of tent at the back, right next to another table (while there were multiple tables for 2 empty further away) with a 10cm gap between. I was seated with my back to the small corridor (max 1m width) All evening, there was constantly waiters/guests hovering behind me. I got halibut perhaps 30gr of fish, dried, (due to too much cooking) with a small heap of mash, a small handful of vegatables and some sauce (which tasted good) for the price of 56 eur for a single plate. I didn't even bother to order another glass of wine or desert as we went there for my birthday. Avoid.

Overall, we're always very satisfied. 1) The food is truly delicious. Today we had the arugula salad with chanterelles, pine nuts, and Parmesan, along with another side dish, and the chanterelles with schnitzel. I can also highly recommend the asparagus, which is available during the asparagus season. The same goes for the steak tartare. 2) The service today was excellent. A very friendly, attentive waiter served us. The food arrived fairly quickly, too. 3) The courtyard is quiet. Not noisy.

A terrible experience at the Borhardt. The review has nothing to do with the restaurant's food, as we weren't able to try it. What happened? After a long day in Berlin, we were looking forward to a nice and pleasant dinner. The restaurant had been recommended to us by friends. And what happened? They seated us on the really nice terrace, gave us the menu, and then ignored us for a full 20 minutes. No one from the service team responded to our gestures. Guests who arrived after us and were seated in a different area received their drinks and placed their orders. We were simply ignored; no one felt responsible for us. I've never experienced anything like this before, and especially I didn't expect it when visiting such a renowned restaurant. One thing is certain: we won't advertise it, and we won't send any of our large circle of friends there or recommend it. A disappointing evening. And when we got up and left, no one would have noticed if we hadn't spoken to the service staff ourselves. This really isn't right!! In the end, we left our money at a really good Italian restaurant that we will definitely visit again.

We had made a reservation for 6 people at the Borchardt Berlin on August 30th at 7:45 PM and received written confirmation via email. However, upon arrival, we were told at reception that no reservation had been made. Despite presenting the confirmation, we were not offered a table. The receptionist was rude and dismissive, which is absolutely disappointing and unacceptable for a restaurant of this category. A restaurant that makes this claim should at least treat guests professionally and respectfully – especially when there is clear proof of a reservation. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we cannot recommend the Borchardt.

Very nice terrace, very good food. Unfortunately, the only female waitress was overwhelmed with her job. Serving and refilling cutlery was always awful, there was little presence, the bill was almost impossible to get, and communication was unprofessional. A shame, and management needs to take action…😢

I would never recommend this place to anyone considering going. The food took nearly an hour to arrive and was a complete disappointment. The service is terrible, the waiters are completely uninterested in you. It's also very expensive compared to Berlin, and there are much more affordable and better quality places.

From the moment we entered Borchardt until we left, everything was perfect. We had a very attentive server who regularly came to our table to check on our food or refill our wine. The food was delicious, and the individual ingredients were perfectly balanced. Although it naturally got busy later in the evening, the service was still prompt.

The only good thing about the restaurant was the food. The service was abysmal. We had to wait over 30 minutes for someone to take our order, and that was only after asking repeatedly. Aside from the unfriendly staff, you can expect that if you have two adjacent tables, they'll convert two seats into three or four, making you feel extremely cramped, even if you don't know the table next to you. There are worlds better, chic restaurants in Berlin, with friendly waiters who won't lead to such disappointment...

The food is good, but the service leaves a lot to be desired... Yesterday I waited 5 minutes for any kind of reception until I called, even though I was inside. I waited almost 20 minutes to even get bread and order a drink. Plus, the waiter was super nice and helpful that day and even ordered me a dish that wasn't available in the evening (it was busy and hectic that evening). I was there today at lunchtime, and the man at the front desk didn't even greet us. And we were seated at a table with a dirty tablecloth, no cutlery or anything else, which didn't really make you feel comfortable. It was lunchtime and not very busy. The food was nevertheless good quality, but the service meant it wouldn't be repeated. It's a shame. P.S., if you work there, it's not exactly advantageous to be aloof and arrogant. Kindly advised.

It was really nice, but unfortunately much too hot and a bit cramped. There were four adults and two children, and we had a table near the outside. A stranger couple was sitting right next to me, and it would have been nice to have another 20cm of space between them. The schnitzels were great, the service was very friendly, and the drinks were delicious, too.

My friends who arrived before us were sent away without even checking whether they had reserved a table. They said, "Unfortunately, we don't have a table with that name." At that point, my friend hadn't even given her name. The so-called manager (in my opinion, an overwhelmed waiter) came over briefly and told us that if we didn't have a reservation, we couldn't stay. We had both the reservation confirmation on our phones and the proof on the restaurant's tablet. Three men who obviously didn't have a reservation were seated next to us. You're in Berlin, so be prepared...

The Borchardt in Berlin is an absolute institution for me. The ambiance is stylish yet lively—a place where you can feel that special Berlin flair. The famous Wiener Schnitzel is truly as good as its reputation: enormous, tender as butter, and perfectly prepared. The rest of the menu also impresses with its quality and flavor. The service was professional, attentive, and very friendly despite the crowds. Anyone visiting Berlin and wanting to experience a piece of culinary history should definitely dine here.

First of all, I would like to thank my waiter, Marvin. Thank you for the wonderful and exceptional service. He gave me a free history lesson, and he freshly prepared my steak tartare in front of me, entertaining me wonderfully. Special praise goes to Marvin alone! Thank you. Now, the restaurant. We reserved a table a few days in advance to be on the safe side. That was no problem at all and super easy to arrange. The food was amazing! We had the famous schnitzel. As you can see from the photo, the portion is really large. There were countless side dishes, all of which were excellent. For starters, as mentioned above, I had the steak tartare, and that was also excellent. All in all, I can really recommend it to everyone.

A great evening at Borchardt! What a location! Here you can feel the over 100-year-old tradition with international guests. We had the schnitzel with potato salad, and we loved it. The size of the schnitzel is impressive, a decent portion. The staff at Borchardt are all very friendly, attentive, but not intrusive. The best Aperol Spritz in the world, followed by a schnitzel. The atmosphere is unique, reminiscent of France, with the ambiance of the dining room and the busyness of the waiters.

I was a guest there two evenings, and it was always truly fantastic – the food is fantastic, and all the waiters are extremely friendly, accommodating, and incredibly warm. That's what you want. For me, it's a must for every visit to Berlin! Unfortunately, they can only give it 5 stars; they deserve more!

I ordered the small Wiener schnitzel with lukewarm potato salad and chanterelle mushrooms. The schnitzel was delicious, fluffy, and thin. It was a bit odd that there were two small pieces of fish on the plate. It didn't bother me, but they really had no place on the dish. Now, the service: Initially friendly, but when the waiter saw the tip, he asked with concern, "Were you dissatisfied?" We weren't—otherwise, we wouldn't have left anything at all. Nevertheless, he pulled a face and became more distant. Apparently, it wasn't enough for him. Such a reaction for average service is unacceptable!

Always great. You'll need a deep pocket, but dining there is always a feast for the soul.

Vibrant ambience (close tables, glass stone décoration so écho throughout) and good quality food. The male serverwe received was extremely talkative to the point it was fake. It is the most funny and eye opening experience when the bill came 334€ and the server mentioned twice that how to tip how, the third time he pointed to a 15% tip selection on the terminal. I've been to Berlin enough and I know any tip is appreciated so I tipped to round number of 25€ ,total 360€ = 7,5%. Once I selected that he turned silent and didn't want to talk , no words when handing me recipe or at departure, 180° fr his demeanor. The turn off was that he was pushing me to tip tip tip, thrice.

Terrible Service, Poor Attention to Detail Our experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. The waiter was not only rude, but also raised his voice at us—which is completely unprofessional. We had to ask multiple times just to get water, and the wine was served without any proper protocol. I specifically ordered tuna tataki twice, but they ended up serving a regular tuna steak instead, showing a complete lack of attention or care. When we pointed it out, there was no apology or attempt to correct it. The food itself was nothing special—very average and no different from any other basic restaurant. Definitely not worth the price or the attitude. We won’t be coming back.

I had dinner here for the first time in a while after a lovely concert. Unfortunately, the visit was very disappointing, and being moved to the first floor was a disaster. Loud, uncomfortably warm, and poorly ventilated. Even the great service and their efforts couldn't compensate for this. I waited over an hour and a half for the food. The schnitzel was okay, but not prepared with the care it usually takes, and the monkfish my companion ate was a disaster and cold. Truly unbelievable conditions... And if you're recommended to eat on the first floor, never accept it; try to find somewhere else to eat.

Hard to find a nice thing to say apart from the building itself

This was our first time as a guest. Let's start with the welcome. It was conducted by a young woman who escorted us to our table in an outfit more suited to a trendy disco. In my personal opinion, this was inappropriate. Her demeanor was also rather arrogant and visibly unmotivated. We were seated in the inner courtyard. The tables are close together, and every inch is utilized. Certainly correct from a business perspective, but rather borderline in terms of the guest experience. It felt like being on an overloaded ship, as the flooring is made of aging wooden planks that sway back and forth. The service staff was friendly, but the quality of service varied considerably. Refilling wine doesn't seem to be part of the service concept. I can handle that, but I've never sat so long in front of empty dishes, and countless times, service staff walked past us empty-handed. The food was okay, but not a culinary highlight. The prices are okay. Personal conclusion: This restaurant thrives on SEEING and BEING SEEN – its image as a celebrity spot. That's true, but if you're looking for good food, you've come to the wrong place. We don't need to see each other again. But everyone should form their own opinion.

I can only agree with all the 1-star reviews. The waiter was completely out of it and careless, thus arrogant. The chair was about to collapse. The side dishes were forgotten for the schnitzel, and then we asked the waiter about it, and the answer was: "Look under the schnitzel properly." Well, there was nothing there, and no apology or anything like that. It's completely overrated. "KnotenPulli-Björn" and his hipster companions were even served casually by our waiter, who even threw their hands together, and thus we were completely lacking in attention. Conclusion: We've experienced it before, and we don't need more!

We were seated before 6p and were given the lunch menu. When we ordered at 6:03p, our selected items were no longer available due to switch to dinner menu. We don't mind paying the higher dinner price if the items are available. However, the selection is reduced on the dinner menu, so our choices were no longer available. This is not allowed to happen! When you seat customers just before switching menus, you must give the customers the menu that is valid by the time you are ready to take their order. Would we have known, we would have come 10 minutes earlier and hurried to order before 6p. The items that were recommended by friends (Königsberger Klopse) seem to only be available on the lunch menu. -- Besides this bad experience with ordering, the staff is very friendly and the food is good and served quickly.

We were shocked by the behavior of the table selector – a significantly older, very emaciated man (estimated mid-40s to 50s), who was obviously completely out of his mind. His demeanor was aggressive, threatening, and rude – and there was a strong suspicion that he was under the influence of cocaine. We're not doctors, of course, but his hyperactive, erratic behavior and unpredictability were palpable to everyone at the table. Even more disturbing was that he kicked out guests at the neighboring table for absolutely no reason and banned them from the premises – without any explanation or discernible reason. The people involved seemed completely taken aback, just like we, who witnessed it. The mood was immediately ruined. Any restaurant that employs such staff disqualifies itself. We will definitely not return – and the next time this happens, we will report the behavior to the relevant authorities.

Excellent place. We arrived without a reservation to a well-known, good restaurant that's always packed. They gave us a table that initially seemed far away, but within minutes it was filled. We ate very well, everything was wonderful. They served us with dedication. A substantial wine selection. One of the best restaurants in Berlin. Highly recommended.

We were a little disappointed and had expected more, especially considering the prices. We got off to a great start; it wasn't that busy and the drink recommendations were very good; our orders were placed quickly. Then it filled up and the waiter didn't come. Orders that were placed took a very long time. After we had finished the starter, we ordered wine for the main course, but they didn't arrive until we had already finished the main course. Because everything took so long, we asked for the bill along with the espresso. The espresso came, but the bill only came after we asked again and were told that we had already been waiting 40 minutes. The waiter seemed very annoyed and denied it. It was a very warm day and our last drink was the espresso.

Let's put it this way: space in the restaurant is limited, and it doesn't get any more pleasant when tables and chairs are even closer together. Let's look on the positive side: an excellent selection of wines, good to very good service, and it's forgiven that when the place is busy, things sometimes take a little longer. Please don't go just for the schnitzel, because that would leave more room on the tables for a good seafood platter.

We were at Borcharts again, this time in the garden for lunch. The tartar was very well prepared at the table. The lunch menu is also highly recommended.
