Ho frequentato questo locale per anni, felice di ritornarci per degustare lo stinco bevendo della buonissima birra. L’ultima esperienza però è stata traumatica, avendo mangiato all’esterno del locale, tra i topi! Per quanto paradossale, i roditori passeggiavano tranquillamente sotto i tavoli del ristorante, tra i piedi degli ospiti. Disgustato ho segnalato il fenomeno al cameriere, che ormai ci aveva fatto evidentemente l’abitudine, dato che ci ha risposto essere normale, poiché in per strada, in prossimità del fiume…. Il cibo sarà anche buono, ma no, no e no!

Après avoir été servis nous avons été vite expédiés il était 21h30 et la cuisine fermée ; déçus par l’addition salée qui ne se justifie pas du tout avec un pourboire de 10% sans ne rien dire

Je ne parle pas de la bouteille d’eau à plus de 7€, mais aussi des 10% de pourboires qui sont automatiquement ajoutés à votre addition sans vous demander si vous êtes ok. Dernière chose, à pâtir de 21h30, ils ne servent plus de dessert 👎

Greasy dishes from the plastic bag of fried potatoes. Very unpleasant smells. Environmental pollution since the skylights in the far too small kitchen are always open. Because the extractor hood is not functional. Very unhealthy for the kitchen employees. Many chefs quit within a short period of time. Old, non-functioning exhaust systems were installed on the roof by an employee more than 30 years ago. In the mixed residential area, the operator who launched the IG Altstadt interest group after the flood is the direct night because today is rude and stroppy does not adhere to the requirements because he has good connections to the city of Cologne🛌. However, the Cologne clique cannot accept this in the long term under the law. I can't have a window open in my apartment. In fact, I am now seriously ill. I have to spend a lot of money on a fan in my room, a cleaning device and constantly cleaning the window panes, because this greasy, greasy, environmentally polluting particulate matter from the restaurant gets directly into my private environment on the window panes. In fact, I cannot recommend this Haxenhaus under any circumstances, because everything is morally unacceptable. I wouldn't eat anything there anymore either. Just looking into the kitchen disgusts me. These spilled fried potatoes then lie spread out on the side of the roasting tray for hours. And then there are loud noises from the kitchen where meat is being pounded, which is incredibly nerve-racking as the bang bang bang can be heard again and again through the double window into my bedroom, where I have to lie down for many hours a day. I can back up everything I write here. I would be grateful for your feedback.

Really very tasty and good, great service

The food was good, but the waitress basically charged us a 10% tip without asking and didn't even give us the receipt with what we just paid. We had to ask for the receipt with the prices and the explanation about the extra charge. The tip is not mandatory! This was just disrespectful!

A place that I found almost unchanged. The very idea that a foreigner can have of traditional Germany, its traditions and its cuisine. The pork dishes are hearty and the Kölsch succulent. The staff takes great care even when you don't speak the language well.

Very good atmospheric establishment. many tables outside and inside. The staff is very polite. The order was prepared quickly, the portions are very large and tasty, we didn't eat everything, we packed some to take away, I recommend!

Great location on the Rhine - very reasonable prices. The platter for several people is outstanding value for the price (only black pudding and the meat loaf lags behind the great sausage and knuckle)

Very pleasant place close to the Rhine and well frequented. The cuisine is good and a menu with local meals is offered. The drinks are good, the welcome is rather pleasant. Nothing to complain about.

We had a couple of hours between trains at Köln Hbf so we walked up to the Cologne Cathedral then down to the banks of the Rhine to find somewhere to eat. Lots of tourist food - we walked a little further to Haxenhaus, and very much enjoyed our lunch. It took a while to get menus and give our order, but the food arrived quickly and was good - the meat in the soup was a little tough, but very tasty goulash, the lamb knuckle was great, the goats cheese salad was delicious and the environment is good - not too busy, no road traffic. It looks lovely inside, although we sat outside, and the toilets upstairs are clean and well-kept. You are close to the town centre. Definitely worth a look.

Very delicious pork knuckles and the lamb was also very good. The kids menu was surprising also quite big, like adult size for a grown up woman. Would recommend to take the fried pork skin as a side, very crispy and full of flavour. It was nice sitting outside and you can also nearer the riverside, but more for drinks and small bites. The waitress who doesn’t take orders, but only serving was very friendly and nice, only sometimes forgetful. The male staff were clearly less enthusiastic and hard to get attention from. So ordering would be a challenge, be prepared to wait at least 20 to 30min. Also the food needs a lot of time to be prepared, waited more than 1,5 hours for the food to arrive. Thankfully the food was very delicious.

Employees can't speak proper German, we've been waiting for 45 minutes for our order but nothing comes. Waiters work slowly. You can't even reach a waiter. Mice are running around outside.

In my opinion, these are loveless dishes from the typical wholesaler. Lots of finished products, little love. The service was not attentive, we waited forever until we could pay. Then there were no tips either. I won't come again

It was recommended to us and we can recommend it to others. Delicious knuckles. Great view of the Rhine.

The bratwurst is delicious, not too spicy and fried brown (not black). Fried potatoes freshly made and not greased. Sauerkraut was also tasty and not too watery. We had the portion for 2 people, served on one plate. There are also 2 smaller plates, so you have the feeling that everyone can fill their plate. If you come with a stomach full of hunger, you won't really get enough of your half. Fast service with relaxed sayings. A group of 50 people didn't overwhelm the kitchen or the staff. Of course you have to pay for the location in the first row to the Rhine.

Food tasted very good. Service has deteriorated significantly. We had to wait almost half an hour for 2 cold drinks, even though there were still a few seats available.

July 12, 2024 A trip to Germany's world heritage sites and museums I visited for lunch. I ordered it even though I didn't really understand the menu. I wanted a vegetable salad so I asked for a salad too, but there were a lot of vegetables in the sausage as well🤣w𐤔𐤔w I had a delicious meal while refilling my beer ☺ The customer service guy was very friendly and we had a fun meal. thank you for helping me. This is a tourist-friendly store.

Typical Kölche cuisine. Beautifully located between the Rhine and the old town. Not just knuckles, as the name suggests. But of course a large selection of different knuckles and knuckle dishes. Beer is good anyway. Large outdoor area. When the weather is nice, the outside can quickly become overcrowded and there can be short waiting times for service. Nevertheless, the service is nice and courteous.

The meat was extremely dry and meal and a beer costs you 44 euros.

Incredible food at this friendly and traditional restaurant. Our only tiny reservation was that we wished the menu had been a little bit more flexible (we'd love to have mixed and matched the side dishes) but the flavours were fantastic, and the portions huge. Also one of our favourite Kolsches so far.

Of course it's the European Championships, but it wasn't overly crowded. Therefore I would have expected a little more attentive service. But what has to be emphasized is the friendliness! Food was great.

We tried the pork knuckle, as it’s the main dish, but it wasn’t really that good. However, I enjoyed my beer and the overall atmosphere.

Nach dem das Haxenhaus nach 1er Std. immer noch nicht geöffnet hatte, mussten wir uns auch unflätige Bemerkungen des Personals anhören. Diese saßen „Döner“ essend im Außenbereich und ließen es sich gut gehen. Damit war die beabsichtigte Gruppenbuchung (25 Personen) für uns dort erledigt. Die sehen uns nicht wieder!!

The Haxen that we had were very good, on the other hand the 1/2m sausage is equivalent to 2.5 chippos, a little disappointed with the dish.

We had turkey, veal schnitzel and 1/2 meter sausage, each of them with some side dish. From the 3 meats the schnitzel was really nice, the turkey was average-good, but I wouldn't buy the sausage again- not very tasty and the 1/2 meter name is just marketing. The atmosphere is nice though.

Horrible place after trying to get a place for a Group of 16 persons. Xenia the small blonde lady with one Ton of make up (big boss of the venue) was very rude and did not accepted us despite fact that empty place inside

A childhood favourite I hadn't been to in over 15 years, came back this week as I was in town and was delighted to find it did not disappoint. A great beer garden outside was showing the football, but in spite of the place being packed the staff were friendly and most importantly the Schweinshaxe was amazing! I changed my order as the haxe I wanted came with wedges not the sliced potato (Bratkartoffeln, it's the thing to get) - and they were happy to do that. I think the portion sizes may have shrunk over time but it's possible I have just gotten bigger! In any case it was perfect and the apple strudel for dessert was very modestly sized and made a great finisher. My fiancée had the Wienerschnitzel and it was light despite being fried - with that gorgeous partial blackening you want on a proper Schnitzel. Better than one we had in a dedicated Schnitzel restaurant the day after! Will definitely not wait 15 years again.

Normally I don't really like eating German cuisine because many restaurants don't do decent knuckles. However, this restaurant is a huge exception and puts many restaurants to shame. The knuckles are so buttery tender that they almost melt in your mouth when you bite into them and are so well seasoned that you still want to chew on them forever. The fried potatoes and sausages were some of the tastiest things I've ever had the pleasure of eating in a German restaurant. Thank you :)

Food is not for spoiled palates

Everything OK. There was nothing to complain about. Service friendly, attentive and quick. Food was delicious. 1 x Cologne style knuckle and 1 x potato salad.

Rustic, cozy restaurant. I like to come here when I'm in Cologne because of the Haxn. This time the outer layer was quite dry, probably (pre)cooked and/or kept warm for too long. Service was nice and friendly even though I had to wait a little longer this time. Apparently the outside area was preferred and I made the mistake of sitting inside. Otherwise everything is fine!

Great stop for beer by the river. We were on a pub crawl so we didn’t eat here. Great place to sit and people watch.

WATCH OUT!! We got charged 10 percent extra for “service fees”, we weren’t aware of the additional costs. They didn’t give us the receipts, neither was it mentioned. After we asked about it, they said it just was service fees. We told them we weren’t aware of it, and asked if they could print the bill. At the end they gave us our money back, but didnt explain it to us. Please be careful, for any additional fees they rip off of you.

Sorry, the salad was a joke in terms of price-performance ratio. Simple bagged salad with hardly any dressing. Absolutely not recommended and in urgent need of improvement.

There are many thieves. Be careful with your belongings. Lots thieves in the restaurant, I even caught two, the restaurant owner ignore it. Be careful your belongings!

Anyone who goes here wants it rustic and delicious! That was it - and the waiters were typically Rhenish/Kölsch. All in all a great atmosphere.

Food is good if you like meat. Unfortunately, service was very slow. Our food didn't come to the table at the same time either. Even though there were only three of us. Drinks also came very late even though it was warm and we were thirsty. Typical restaurant for tourists.

The price/performance ratio doesn't fit here. The menu is clear and not very varied. Only after eating did we notice an additional sheet with additional dishes on a memory card. There probably isn't a day ticket? The staff should be trained in pouring the drinks.

Great location near the Rhine, but was not impressed with the food. In addition, a tip was forced on us because we were American - but we knew that tips are not required for any place in Germany. Very disappointing.

Nice ambience with tourist prices. Unfortunately, the knuckle was far dry and the rind wasn't as crispy as it should be. If you call yourself a “Haxenhaus”, the main dish should already be in place. The service was careless and seemed slightly overwhelmed. But the restaurant is sufficient for a few Kölsch on the Rhine.

The service is terrible. It took them a long time to take orders, to bring the beers, to bring the food. They were wrong and brought us different dishes, but they didn't care, they said they were right. In short, very poorly attended And very expensive for what they give

Slow service. Not very friendly. Overcharged. I can't review the food because it didn't come. We had about 1.5 hours available for lunch, but ran out of time. It was 15 minutes before anyone offered us a menu. It was another 15 minutes before our order was taken. The server said it would take 30 min for the meals, and I said 30 min would be fine, but we had tickets for a cathedral at 2:30, so it couldn't be longer. 40 min later the food hadn't come. She didn't check to see how long it would be. I paid 56€ for 4 drinks and a bottle of water (the Lilet drinks were 9€ each so I either bought a 16€ bottle of water or we were overcharged).

Limit service. Very good food. Didn't like that tipping was imposed on us at all.

We were there with 6 people, in the outdoor area. The service was very friendly. However, ordering a bratwurst took a very long time. Which is also very cold and expensive. 21 euros for sausage with bread in a construction site. Not recommendable.

I've never had such a bad meal in the old town

Sauerbraten didn't taste good, wasn't warm and wasn't fresh, especially the dumplings and red cabbage. The sauce was the same for all dishes and has nothing to do with Rhenish sauerbraten, and there was also too little sauce. My wife was left with the food in her stomach all night long. Someone else of us had something with lamb that tasted old. This was my first and last time eating here!

As we entered, we were immediately greeted by a large sign asking us to wait for an assigned seat. Even though the staff had seen us several times, no one approached us and everyone just walked past us. After a few minutes we finally asked for a seat ourselves, otherwise we would have stood there forever. When we first ordered a drink was forgotten, but this wasn't charged for, to be fair, and when we waited for more drinks because they were already empty it took so long that we had to draw attention to ourselves again. to get something more to drink. It's a shame, especially since there weren't many guests there, so you can't say it was just too busy. We didn't order any food at first, although it smelled delicious and looked good, but that was our first and last visit.

Das Kölsch war okay, das Essen nicht gut. Mein rheinischer Sauerbraten mit Rotkohl, war nicht schmackhaft, die Soße fad, auch ohne Rosinen, die für mich zum rheinischen Sauerbraten dazu gehören, Rotkohl maximal lau. Die Klöße nicht frisch. Vom Preis - Leistungs war auch das Essen der anderen zu teuer. Mein Sohn sprach von altem Lamm,was nicht geschmeckt hat. Alles in allem nicht zu empfehlen!
