Not terrible but not great. We went because it had available seating late at night, very crowded area this time of year. Food was very plain. Drinks were alright.

Dopo 20 minuti ad aspettare, siamo riuscite a trovare un tavolo. Abbiamo scelto cosa ordinare ma il cameriere ci ha detto che avrebbero chiuso la veranda e che non si poteva più ordinare (la notte di Capodanno alle 22.00). Alla fine quindi siamo uscite, senza poter consumare; inoltre, siamo state completamente ignorate dal personale di sala. Abbiamo solo perso tempo

Frankly deplorable reception. As soon as we arrived, we saw that we were disturbing. The cards were thrown squarely on the table. The drinks arrive, and then, surprise: we have to help ourselves from the waiter's tray. And finally, when paying, the waiter strongly insists that the tip is not included. Given the dismal service, we left nothing, and he didn't like it: no goodbye, just moaning. Frankly, to avoid.

Unpleasant server, horrible reception. They threw the menus on the table. The food wasn’t very good, and the prices were expensive (a typical tourist trap). When we went to pay, the server had the nerve to ask for a tip. When he realized I definitely wasn’t going to leave one, given their mediocre service, he didn’t even say goodbye and was grumbling. I hope there will be some changes in the team because this really doesn’t make you want to come back.

Not satisfied with the restaurant... For the positive points which make up for it a little: The food is good and fairly quick to arrive The staff is quite friendly and smiling Rather comfortable seats and heating on the terrace Negative points: Low quantity, especially considering the price (around €25) Very noisy terrace and not very clean 75cl bottle of still water for €10!!! It's a theft at this level, especially since the price of this one doesn't even appear on the drinks menu.

Unfortunately the only good thing was the Kölsch. The steak is an absolute disgrace! The meat quality is underground. Steak 400gr consists of 1/3 pure fat, the meat was cooked through even though medium rare was requested. It was absolutely tasteless. The baked potato, as a side dish, was simply drowned in creme fraiche without any seasoning. This was also passed on to the waitress, and the only response was “okay”! and they charge you €30 for that. Absolute disgrace and definitely not recommended.

I have to say that this is a terrible place to eat in ! Definitely a tourist trap, the food was crap and overpriced, the schnitzel was everything but a schnitzel ! The Haxen was extremely salty, you cannot really eat it ! The waiter kept me waiting standing at least 10 minutes to come and get paid by card at the cashier and then boldly asking for a tip.

The RheinZeit has changed a lot. Instead of seasonal cuisine - or a Christmas menu in December - everything was standard and tasted standard. Okay...I can recommend tarte flambée...bon appetit.

To all French people, avoid this tourist trap restaurant, let me explain: The food isn't bad, but the service is absolutely abominable. Very cold reception, the order was placed quickly ok until nothing unusual in Germany. Once our dish was finished, it took me no less than 4 calls to 4 different waiters to get the bill (Each waiter told me to wait with a "nothing to do" look and left while each of them were free and did nothing at the time of my requests). After the 4th call, a waiter tells me to go pay inside, which I will do immediately. I was not surprised when the waiter literally asked me to leave a tip directly in the bill by paying by card. (The nerve knowing that the service is catastrophic). Being very embarrassed by this request, I decided to take out a 1€ coin that was absolutely undeserved given the quality of the service, gave it to the waiter and the latter dared to look at me with a disappointed look as if this money was owed to him ). Flee this shame.

Food was served cold and was lacking flavor, service left us almost an hour with empty glasses

Unfortunately, service doesn't see the empty glasses. When a hand signal is given, the waiter has no desire to come to the table. It's better to stay at the entrance so that you have to shout all over the forecourt. Food was McDonald's style, had the US double burger, Meat fell apart while eating. Fries were soggy. Cocktails - after this, after a long dry phase, came the next disappointment. Little alcohol and instead of cane sugar there was normal sugar. Price-performance? Better leave it alone!

The service started well but unfortunately declined significantly. We were approached on the street and then you had to make sure you got something to drink yourself. Wir waren am 24.12.24 von 16 h bis ca 20 h in diesem Restaurant mit 11 Personen , ein netter Kellner nahm die Bestellung auf . Dann kamen jede Menge andere Kellner und servierten das Essen , es war sehr chaotisch da viele Sachen falsch serviert wurden , ein Essen hat solange gedauert das wir anderen schon fast fertig waren . Die Kellner waren irgendwie total überfordert . Dann zum Schluss ist ein Gutschein von Douglas vergessen worden mit einem Goten Betrag , nach Tisch anrufen oder immer wieder jedesmal ein anderer am Telefon , ist er natürlich nicht gefunden worden was ich sehr traurig finde . Im normal Fall legt man es hinter die Theke . Das Essen war na ja geht so . Ein grillteller hat nur 3 kleine Stücke Fleisch drauf gehabt , den man anders kennt . Würden dieses Restaurant nicht nochmal buchen

Tourist flophouses. Schnitzel great and bigger than expected. Side dish (fries) looked and tasted like they had been in the deep fryer for too long.

Supposedly a "German" restaurant, but it felt more like an American steakhouse, there was a small section for German dishes. The burger was bad, but the salmon was quite nice. Tiramisu was only okay.

This restaurant is a complete disaster. I waited over 40 minutes for two pieces of cake. Unfortunately they weren't tasty either. Impossible.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere

Bad service! We asked for a well done hamburger, but apparently they couldn't have it so they said to get something else. Food wasn't really hot! When paying, a 2 euro tip was not enough for them! Pushy!

Burnt black dry spare ribs. NOT fall off the bone tender, cold fries, grill haxe is NOT 1500gr... 500 including fat and bone. Very very bad food especially for a steak house. Everything is warmed up and not grilled fresh.... don't go here for the food...

We came to the restaurant quite late on Saturday evening. Our question as to whether there was anything else to eat was answered in the affirmative. Although many bars in Cologne's old town were open, the food in many of them was already "cold". That's why we decided to seek our luck on the banks of the Rhine. We walked past the RheinZeit restaurant in the afternoon and it looked pretty nice from the outside. We were then greeted by a very nice waiter who offered us a seat at the high table by the side window. Furthermore, there is still something free outside in the tent. Since I neither like sitting at high tables to eat nor in the tent when the weather is bad, I asked if we could sit upstairs in the pub. The waiter said yes, there were seats available (it was a little later and there weren't that many guests left). Then cut: Another waiter came and told us to sit in a room to the left of the entrance and led us there. This was a carelessly furnished side room. Coziness: a gift. It looked like a distilled spirits tasting room. Because on the small counter there were bottles of whiskey, gin, etc. and their cardboard packaging. We were the only guests (note: we were neatly dressed, had a shower and didn't smell; what we didn't like: a mystery to the establishment). We found this approach quite bizarre and strange. The nice waiter who welcomed us then came to write down the food, which we did. Then the other waiter came back and - unfortunately it has to be said that way - "scared away" waiter number 1. He then (quite annoyed) typed the order into an electronic recording device. Again: very bizarre. The food came quickly - not a good sign given the circumstances so far. This was confirmed when we enjoyed it: The cream sauce on and on the schnitzel was inedible. The poor animal that gave up its meat for the schnitzel, dead three times. No taste, no seasoning. Fries: Free salt. The second meal, heaven and earth, was halfway okay. The applesauce was served separately in a glass, why it was only 1/3 full - a mystery. Overall, we felt like marginalized/deported people in the loveless next room. Unfortunately, overall the food cannot be rated as good (2 out of five stars were given favorably, especially because of dish no. 2). We generally had the impression that these were ready-made products (especially sauces, mashed potatoes). To then charge €20 for a cream schnitzel is, in our opinion, unreasonable. We actually wanted to end our last evening in Cologne comfortably. Unfortunately that didn't work. Coziness: a gift.

Very cozy and nice place. The staff were very nice and informative. The food is excellent. My favourite is the entrecote, very juicy and cooked perfectly to my preference.

The service in the restaurant was friendly and the waiting time for the food was pleasantly short. Of the two dishes we ordered, the spaghetti with prawns left a positive impression - they were very tasty. The burger, on the other hand, was rather disappointing despite its higher price. The combination of cheese, lettuce, raw onions and ketchup seemed unrefined. A homemade burger sauce or fried onions could have set a lot more accents here. Another point that struck me was the quality of the cutlery. It seemed simple and didn't quite meet the expected standard. Overall, a mixed experience with potential for improvement - especially when it comes to the elaboration of the burger ingredients.

Mientras ordenábamos, preguntamos si era posible tener un poco de agua del grifo. Podría haber respondido "no lo siento, no servimos agua del grifo", pero ¿eligió esta respuesta simple y educada? Claro que no. Nuestro héroe respondió "si quieres agua del grifo, puedes ir al río de enfrente". Respuesta espectacular. El camarero que estaba tomando nuestro pedido se fue después de anotar nuestras bebidas, y delegó otro para continuar. Supongo que se rindió con nosotros y nuestras preguntas escandalosas. De todos modos, el segundo camarero llegó y nos dijo que empezáramos de nuevo. Pedimos nuestras bebidas y nos dimos cuenta de que ya estaban escritas, así que le pedimos que cancelara la mitad de ellas. Todo el mundo sabe que una buena comunicación es clave en cualquier entorno de trabajo, y esto era claramente una obra de arte. Quiero decir, ¿cómo se nos ocurrió la idea de ir a un restaurante y molestar al personal para que nos prepare algo de comida sin ser tratados como basura? Obviamente éramos demasiado pretenciosos. Por lo menos la comida era buena bromeando. ¿Lo creías de verdad? Por favor. Sin embargo, una cosa que debemos apreciar es la consistencia: este lugar era malo desde todas las perspectivas.

Super unkind personal! Food is ok but also not more then ok. On the menu they write cola zero but they gave pepsi max (no problem with it but say it that it is pepsi max and not cola zero) and food is not nicely presented, orders not correctly served. Didn’t write down what you asked and above all it is not super cheap and then even as costumer you need to pay for toilet. highly not recommend restaurant

I don't even know where to start. I came here with a few friends for the Christmas market and I regret eating in this restaurant instead of grabbing something quick in the cold. I don't know if it's because we were tourists or if they simply didn't feel like working that night, but the staff was absolutely unpleasant and unfriendly diring the whole time. We sat in a terrible table placed just outside the kitchen, where we could hear the bell used multiple times to call the waiters to pick up the dishes, and the waiters screaming when the orders were not ready. More than once, a waiter (probably the manager because he was giving orders to the others (us included)) pushed my chair and my friend's chair while we were seated with the excuse that "otherwise there's not enough space to pass behind this table". So what? You pushed your customers' chairs because you didn't think of having a larger corridor when you built the place? You should be mad at you, not at us. The same waiter grabbed my stuff (my coat and bag that I put in the empty chair next to me) for no apparent reason. I have no idea where he wanted to take it, but in any case, if the chair was not the right solution, he could have just asked. To calm him down, I had to remind him that I was there to pay him for a service that his restaurant was offering ("I'm paying you! I'm paying you!" became the meme of the night). While ordering, we asked if it was possible to have some tap water. He could have just replied "no sorry, we don't serve tap water", but did he choose this simple and polite answer? Of course not. Our hero replied "if you want tap water, you can go to the river in front". Spectacular answer. The waiter who was taking our order left after noting down our drinks, and delegated another one to continue. I guess he just gave up on us and our outrageous questions. Anyway, the second waiter arrived and told us to start over. We re-ordered our drinks and realised that they were already written down so we asked him to cancel half of them. Everyone knows that good communication is key in any work environment, and this was clearly a work of art. Some of the dishes were not available, so the waiter came back to ask for alternative choices. We finally managed to order everything and hoped that our food would arrive as soon as possible so we could get out of their hair. If we had to ask something, the same golden-hearted waiter/manager serving us would scream "I don't have time!". Dude, I'm not an expert but maybe you should reconsider your career choices. They served everything except one dish, which arrived way later. So, we couldn't even eat all together. I'm now thinking this was on purpose to punish us for our visit. I mean, how could we come up with the idea of going to a restaurant and bother the personnel to prepare us some food without being treated like rubbish?? We were obviously a bit too pretencious. At least the food was good... just kidding. Did you believe that for real? Please. However, one thing we must appreciate is the consistence: this place was bad from every single perspective.

This place ranked one of the highest restaurant in Koln but doesn’t deserve it at all. All foods were either burned or due to oil, their taste was awful. We order two different type of schnitzel but both of them is uneatable. Food has heavy taste and smell most probably due to dirty oil. We drink beer which is good and cold and thats the only good thing about this place. Photos are correct but not representing full vibe. You can feel like there was a man who has good taste before but somebody else using the place. Everything looks mock up and tourist trap here.

The food was great and it is a nice location right on the banks of the Rhine

We had made a reservation for 4 people. After we took a seat at our table we waited for more than half an hour. We weren't even asked if we wanted something to drink or given a menu. When we asked if we could be helped, we got a loud mouth and we left. Not recommended! Ultimately we had a delicious meal at the Beef Club next door. Very friendly people there.

Chocolate milk for €6.80 and whipped cream was gone... not a nice atmosphere.

Food was acceptable, but seriously lacking in atmosphere, charm or customer service. I don't think I saw one member of staff smile the whole time we were there. When presented with the bill, we offered cash amounting to 3 euros over the amount on the bill (just for the two of us) to be told "service isn't included ". I left with the feeling we'd done them a favour by being there. Sad impressions to leave. I'd avoid it, there are other better options within yards either side.

It's best to make a reservation because it was quite full even outside. I waited half an hour for my cocktail, my companion got hers after 10 minutes and I asked the waitress about the cocktail and she answered me that they still had to get ingredients from the warehouse, well, after the 30 minutes I told her she should cancel my cocktail 🍸 and bring me something else, suddenly it was there. My grill plate tasted good, but after looking at the menu again I noticed that the salad was missing and pointed it out to the waitress. Before I was almost finished eating, I called the waitress again and asked for my salad, which came when I was finished. That's where the 2 stars come from 🌟, because I had to keep asking. That's why my visit wasn't that satisfactory, I understand when it's busy but the service here wasn't quick or attentive. The restaurant was quite dark, some people were looking at the menu with their cell phone lamp. Great selection of dishes and the taste was good.

Good restaurant. Food is average to good. Steaks were well prepared, but side dishes were poor. Service OK. Ambiance is pleasant.

The location is right on the river which has Aufhedenfall charm. Unfortunately, at lockal you feel more like Ali in the kebab shop. Prices are high, but staff and service are not. Unfortunately not for me to go out for a nice German meal.

Very bad service! Very unfriendly staff with a rude mouth, it couldn't go fast enough. Apparently in the kitchen too because the food was cold. Having to wait 10 minutes longer for a friend's food. They asked themselves what he had taken so that they could quickly prepare it in the kitchen. We also had to wait 5 minutes for cutlery. At checkout they wanted to call the police because we didn't want to leave a tip.

Stay away from this place around closing time! Horrible service and over priced items! I was very disappointed at our experience here. Apparently we went there near closing time, they said they are open and seated us, but then a waiter (named Hakim?)came and was very rude to us! He was upset to get a last set of customers! He made us uncomfortable and created a bad experience for us in our last night in Cologne. If it wasn't too hard to find a place for dinner before 10pm in Cologne, we would have left immediately! Not to mention they charged us 10 euros for a bottle of still water!! Never paid this much in a restaurant at Europe or anywhere else for water! It's rediculous! I strongly suggest if they don't feel like serving customer, they should just say they are closed rather than accepting them and disrespecting them! Also, they should reconsider their water pricing! It's more expensive than beer!!

The boss is very unpolite, we had a very bad experience here

It was one of the worst experiences I had. I went there with four friends as we spent a day in the city to visit the Christmas markets. Staff was extremely rude, so rude that if we weren't so hungry and cold, we would have just left immediately. On top of staff's "friendness," my plate came when the rest of the table finished their dishes, and you had to pay 50 cents to use the bathroom. Food was acceptable, and prices were fair. However, for the treatment we received, we thought that maybe they were going to offer us dinner at the end!

We tried three different dishes. Hamburger steak and fish. Everything was very tasty. Fish could have been a little more, but all in all it was okay.

Worst restaurant you've ever seen in Cologne. Reservations were made at 7 p.m. and we were able to go to the table at half past seven. Food was cold and had no taste. 2 of the group's meals didn't arrive. Stopped eating and left the store after a long discussion. Never again

Too bad to leave all the heaters on on the open terrace when there is no one consuming. Absolutely no one. We sat down for 15 minutes and no waiter came to take our order, that explains it!

To avoid at all costs. We waited for 30 min to get our order taken, we had to harass the staff and they were not very professional. We then waited further to get our drinks, the order got mixed up and we haven't even tried the food because of the wait time. Some people left before the being tended, and they were right to do so.

The service took a very long time. Some of the food was cold. For 6 people, a dish was forgotten and had to be delivered later. Mustard was out. Fries were only delivered upon request, even though they were part of the dishes. We wanted to reorder drinks. Although the waitress responded three times, nothing happened. No recommendation. This restaurant was the last we saw.

We wait almost 1 hour for our food, we were with 4 people, 3 people got cold meat, I got my fries after my entire plate was empty, my wife only got her food after everyone had already finished eating, I think they forgot her food🙄 The taste of the food was not bad, but it was cold so you can't enjoy it🥴 When it is busy (Christmas market) stay away from here, the kitchen does not process the food on time and the servers walk around confused...

Not worth it food wasn’t made properly crusded meat potatoes undercooked. Salmon stake wtf is that microwave in action . Maybe some simple meals ar good .

We ate here as a couple. Unfortunately the rump steak was medium well and the plate looked so carelessly prepared, with only fries plus steak and herb butter. I had Sauerbraten 3 out of 4 slices were super tender, the last one tasted like it had been reheated. The sauce was too thin and had no taste, unfortunately the dumplings were too cold. Unfortunately, the service only gets three stars even though we were actually happy with it, but for the simple reason that we heard arguments among the staff about how bad the person was... something like that shouldn't be discussed in the guest room. All love

You can stop by here just for a drink. The kitchen is not hygienic, the open kitchen is visible anyway. The chicken we ordered was bad.

Unfortunately, none of the three waiters felt responsible for our table. Maybe nothing was going on. When we couldn't order after 15 minutes, we went to the neighboring restaurant.

There were six of us here and the food was fantastic. Heaven and Äd was a dream, the schnitzels looked great and according to the neighbors they also tasted very good. Maybe we just wished there were a few more vegetarian options!

RheinZeit is a great location for a relaxed stopover. The restaurant is cozy, the staff is friendly, and the food is tasty. It may not be a culinary highlight, but it's just right for an uncomplicated meal in between. Would definitely come back if I'm in the area!

Friendly staff and good food. Could find more tasty Schnitzel in town but this one was not bad. The outdoor seating is very nice facing the Rhine!

We were there on a beautiful sunny day in late summer, so we ate not the terrace. We both had the Nurnberger Rostbratwurst . The Bratwurst were lovely, along with mash and gravy, and very tasty sauerkraut. The meal was reasonably priced and very tasty. A good stop.

We wanted to take a quick break and ordered some Kölsch...However, something else is being filled into the Kölsch glasses...definitely NOT Kölsch...full of fraudsters

We found it to be mixed. The food was rather average. The burger was dry, the fries were cold. The country pork schnitzel was ok. The service staff didn't really try hard. Conclusion: It wasn't really bad, but not really good either 🤷🏼‍♂️

Typical German food, noisy atmosphere to my taste, correct service, expensive price, especially drinks, a bottle of water is more expensive than 2 beers

Food cold Quantities are not correct. Ordered 1m bratwurst and got 60cm. I complained and 2 pieces arrived. Fries on 4 plates together, not 700g

Were there with a large group. Couldn't change €100. Were very unfriendly. Don't go there

So we were there with several friends, we wanted to pay and told the waiter we would like to pay separately. He then came to us and slapped the cash register on the table saying “you should pay together”. When we went to check out at the front, we weren't talked to and we were treated like we were trash. Not recommended. Better go to other bars.

Unfortunately, waiting times are very long, portion sizes and quality of the food leave a lot to be desired. All in all very disappointing and not worth a second visit.

Surprisingly nice food. I had a pasta dish which isn’t the most complex but it was actually really nice. Homemade tiramisu was also good. Service was attentive and pleasant.

We were in Cologne for a few days as a couple and from the second day onwards it was our “go-to” restaurant. Service was very pleasant, waiting times were also very short. Food was very tasty. If we come to Cologne again, we would be happy to be there again

Waiting half an hour for a beer even though there are 5 waiters standing around chatting animatedly is not okay. The lukewarm espresso tops it off.

Worst service I've ever experienced. In fact, almost none. The waitress strolled past us several times, chatted with other waiters, looked around on her cell phone before eventually taking the order. Whoever takes the order does not bring it to the table. Someone else does that and he has to run to bring everything to the tables. If this one has a break, you're out of luck. Then nothing is brought to the table. Our beers were on the counter with our cappuccino and espresso. All the waitresses stood in front of the restaurant and just took the order. Conclusion: Beer was already stale, cappuccino was only lukewarm and espresso was cold when it was finally brought to us in response to our complaint. If you want to go somewhere comfortable and have a drink, we don't recommend it. Almost forgotten: The restaurant, which is not small, has only one women's toilet open. So there too it’s time to wait! Unfortunately you can't give less than one star.

Food was ok, very German and our American friends liked to try it. Unfortunately the service wasn't that great. The older man was very unfriendly and you couldn't swap the mashed potatoes for fried potatoes. Original tone and really unfriendly: “Only as it is written”. There were a lot of tourists there. You can probably deal with them that way, they won't come back anyway. If the service were better and friendlier, I would recommend it.

Good restaurant by the Rhine. Seating inside and outside. The service was a little slow and the food was ok. We sat outside but the facility inside looked very good. There were numerous dining choices in the area.

entecote was ok, frensch fries: frozen fries without roasted flavors, pepper sauce like grandpa's unfortunately not good, The red LED glare bothered me, unfortunately the tap system wasn't set up well and the Coca Cola tasted sugary and stale. Tables clean, service friendly, very quiet location, a Mediterranean smell of seafood wafted across the place.

A nice place to sit, drink and eat near the Rhine river. The service was good and bit chaotic, probably due to business of the restaurant. The food taste was ok, but there was very little thought and effort put into the making up of the plate, and the Hungarian goulash soup was too salty and didn’t come with bread.

Too bad!!! Wanted to eat and drink comfortably. Drinks order was taken quickly and then it came. However, we had imagined the price to be €11 for 0.3l of juice (alcohol-free cocktail) differently, as there was no size information included. (Cola Zero 0.5 l cost 5.90, which is completely OK. 11€ for a cocktail is actually OK given the location but then 0.3 with half full of ice. NO!! When drinks came, we said, since we got the menu, that we wanted to eat something. After 5 minutes we asked someone else about food. After 10 minutes, I said that I wanted to pay. When I paid I said that we would have liked to eat but after asking three times no one came. We are always happy to give a tip but not this time It was cheeky, to which I then said: We don't just want to drink and you already gave us the menu. It's a shame. We had a really tasty meal at other restaurateurs and they also got a lot of tips!

The waitress has no interest in offering herself...maybe you have to bring your own drinks

The food was good, but they got our order wrong. Instead of apologizing, they said, ‘We only have this,’ and dropped it in front of me. The service was terrible.

Good food that could be served hotter. Nice service and fair prices.

The toilet attendant doesn't work at all.

All around good, acceptable service, quite good meal to not too expensive prices.
