One of the most enjoyable places in Cologne: events, gastronomy, and nature. The quality is outstanding, the service is very friendly, and the location is fantastic: concerts, a restaurant, a beer garden, and my favorite Christmas market.

We celebrated here with friends after the wedding. Great food (our fries were good, not overcooked, and made from real potatoes), super friendly service.

The Stadtgarten advertises that it offers "real" fries. Unfortunately, these were the worst fries I've ever eaten. They were in the fryer far too long, making them too dark, hard, and dry. And it wasn't just me who had them, but my colleagues' as well, and at least 15 of them had fries as a side dish. I also didn't find the ambiance outstanding, and I would have preferred not to use the restrooms. They desperately need a thorough cleaning. The only positive thing worth mentioning is the waiter. He was friendly, attentive, and unfazed. He did an excellent job. Remembering who ordered what among 20 people is a testament to absolute professionalism. It was my first and also my last visit to the Stadtgarten. It's a shame that neither the ambiance nor the value for money are right here.

Unfortunately, the Caesar salad was dry meat, which wasn't particularly special (just romaine, tomato, and parmesan), and the fries were dry and greasy. The burger, however, was good.

Very nice, especially when you can sit outside in the summer. The service is good, but don't expect any culinary highlights from the food (steer clear of the Caesar salad; it was made of finely shredded wilted romaine lettuce and was far too sour. The requisite croutons were also missing).

Sam was unfriendly and complained that €30 in tipping wasn't enough. Ungrateful. The food was cleared away while I was just leaving my seat.

I have to honestly say that was one of the most unpleasant restaurant visits I, or rather our group, have ever had. The meal was relatively expensive at €18 for a small burger that tasted rather mediocre. The service, however, was particularly unpleasant. The staff, or rather one of the employees, was very unfriendly right from the start, with a loud and rather aggressive tone. When it came to paying, things got even more unpleasant. After we had eaten/drank with several people for over €250 and tipped over €35, the same waitress dismissed us with the words, "We hadn't tipped enough and were generally very unpleasant guests." We were then threatened with a ban from the premises. What I found particularly appalling was the way the guests were treated, including the language. Absolutely not recommended!

Although I have been to and loved the Christmas Market in Stadtgarten for many years, I had never eaten in the restaurant before a couple of days ago, when I went with a couple of friends. We all enjoyed the flavorful vegan burger and exceptional fries. I had a cappuccino too. Great service. The outdoor seating was shaded and enchanting.

Good food, good drinks, and a pleasant atmosphere, but prices are high. Despite the central location, it's quiet, the sun shines beautifully in the summer, and umbrellas are available. Prices are relatively high, typical for a beer garden, but still just about reasonable. The atmosphere makes up for it, and the food and drinks were always at least good.

It's a nice place where you can enjoy sitting with your friends. The ambiance is great. It might be noisy but you can hear each other.

I celebrated my milestone birthday :) exclusively on a Friday evening at the Stadtgarten restaurant's terrace. I felt in good hands at all times. The location is ideal even for changeable weather conditions. Thanks to the Stadtgarten team, including Mr. Hinz in the planning department and two dedicated service staff! Thank you! Two thumbs up!!

The food was average, at least the large salad (although large wasn't really large) was ordered with chicken breast. That was about a €5 surcharge for about five small pieces of chicken that were as hard and dry as the fries. My companion ordered the vegetarian burger, but they brought the regular one. This wasn't so bad since we're not vegetarians, but it was still a shame. The burger and fries were very good. The staff were very helpful and friendly, but seemed very stressed. The price/performance ratio was too expensive, in my opinion.

I can recommend the Stadtgarten because the food was really good and the atmosphere is a bit like a small Munich beer garden.

It was cozy until it rained. The food was delicious and plentiful. The price was reasonable.

I was there in June and sat outside. Even when it's crowded, the noise level is pleasant, and you can easily have a conversation. The burger I had was pretty good (there are certainly better burgers, but far more worse ones), and the fries were delicious. The service, however, was outstanding. We had a great server, friendly, relaxed, fast, and always with a smile. It was a pleasure.

I traveled from Switzerland to the GNTM26 casting and was completely amazed and thrilled by the Stadtgarten Cologne and especially its staff. I haven't experienced such excellent, exceptional service from start to finish in a long time – truly impressive. And I have pretty high standards :-) Many, many thanks to Abou, Lou, and Mo – you are fantastic, passionate hosts, and I will be happy to fly to Cologne again just to enjoy you, your unique, high-quality service, the delicious vegan food, and the fantastic atmosphere in the Stadtgarten! We ate at the Stadtgarten in Cologne as a group and were overall very satisfied with our visit. Making a reservation is highly recommended – the restaurant was at capacity, even on a Sunday evening. Luckily, we made our reservations well in advance, so everything went smoothly. The menu is extremely diverse and truly offers something for every taste – from classics to creative, vegetarian, and vegan dishes. Despite the high demand, we didn't have to wait long for our meals, which was a great plus. We would particularly like to highlight the service: We were served by an extremely friendly and competent lady who always remained calm, even with special requests and a full house, and looked after us perfectly. Her warm manner further enhanced the evening. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable visit in a pleasant atmosphere – we would gladly return!

A beautiful beer garden in the heart of the city. Divided into two sections: waiter-service and self-service. A very large selection of dishes, especially for vegetarians. Very friendly and attentive service. The food is delicious, especially the homemade fries. Make sure to make reservations in advance. Many group reservations are available in the evenings starting at 7:00 PM.

We visited this restaurant on June 27th at around 10:30 p.m. and sat at a table in the waiting area. Shortly after we were seated, the waitress rushed over and rudely tore the seat cushions away from us. She didn't feel the need to take our order. After 15 minutes, no one had come. When we tried to order inside the restaurant, an employee sitting at the entrance said we couldn't. Apparently, they don't want guests. I hadn't expected such rudeness in Cologne. It's a shame, because the place is really nice.

Beautiful location, great beer garden. The food was okay, service was great!

The beer garden is really nice, and it was quite busy during our visit. But of our four-hour stay, we were only served for about the first hour and a half, then we were told they weren't taking any more orders and would come back to us. We then tried to order drinks at the bar ourselves, but after an hour of nothing happened, they refused to serve us either. So we continued to try to contact the waiters and get the bill so we could finally get something to eat and drink somewhere else. That also took another hour, and we had to announce that otherwise we would just leave (at 35-degree heat without drinking, it's understandable that you need something to drink). When we were finally allowed to pay in a lengthy process, there were countless items on the bill that never arrived, and we were then made to feel guilty about them... There's some understanding of staff shortages, but this went far beyond that. As beautiful as the location is, I wouldn't go back. (Several reservation requests the week before were also consistently ignored).

Both the vegan currywurst and the bartender were awful. Officially, this was the worst service I've experienced in Cologne.

Super friendly service with a passionate hostess.

Very nice restaurant with a large beer garden. We arrived around 4 p.m. Of course, it wasn't busy yet. But the atmosphere is nice and the food delicious. We had the cheeseburger and the currywurst. Unfortunately, the back part of the beer garden was closed when we were there. We'll be back.

The Stadtgarten is a true Cologne original. Perfect for a relaxed meal while enjoying culture. The menu is modern and seasonal, with creative dishes. The beer garden, surrounded by greenery, is a great place to linger, especially on warm days. It's a bit noisier inside, but always charming. The service is friendly. Conclusion: A great mix of relaxed atmosphere, delicious food, and cultural flair. Definitely worth a visit!

The service was completely overwhelmed, drinks never arrived, and then the waitress didn't come despite repeated requests. The burger was burnt, and we had to collect cutlery from neighboring tables. Finally, the bill was incorrect.

The service is good and unobtrusive, the price is good, and it wasn't busy. You need luck to find parking.

This is specifically for the burger and drinks trucks and not the restaurant itself, which is lovely. May 1st we arrived well before 2pm waiting on the burger truck opening, as it had been recommended to us. 2pm came, nothing. At 2.15 were told another 12 minutes. It didn't open until an hour later with staff inside taking an absolute age to open. Ny this time we are hungry, annoyed and almost going elsewhere. The staff also were being shown absolutely everything by one chef who was also taking orders, so everything took another age. It wasn't until 330pm we started to eat. Total shambles Food was nice but not worth such a wait and in typical German fashion, no apologies or explanation for their customers.

Definitely a nice beer garden in the summer, and it's centrally located and right next to the green belt. There's no service; it's self-service for drinks and food (with a pager), and you also do the clearing yourself. The bar staff are rushed/stressed (not enough staff!) and unfriendly. The restrooms aren't pleasant at all, despite the cleaning staff. Otherwise, the atmosphere is good. A mixed, cheerful crowd. Overall, I have to say: they cut back on staff, but the prices are the same as at a beer garden with friendly service; something's not right here.

The staff were completely unsympathetic and discriminatory towards our infant! We were asked to leave if we had a problem with cigarette smoke for the child, as this was, after all, a BEER garden. We politely asked if a customer could smoke her cigarette a little further away. After she said no, we sat down in shame. The waiter then asked us to move to another table, for whatever reason. The ashtray was then cleared from the table because we obviously didn't need it. She then started an argument with us. Why would we complain about carcinogenic cigarette smoke for the child in a public beer garden, we could just leave. We feel really excluded. Apart from that, the service was of course poor. We received the wrong drinks. The employee behind the bar didn't take responsibility for the error, but blamed us, saying we had ordered the wrong thing. Absolutely irresponsible in every respect. We won't be coming back!

The STADTGARTEN-CAFE on Venloerstr in Cologne has been a permanent fixture in Cologne for many years and my local café. A diverse crowd of all ages and social backgrounds meets at the Stadtgarten and enjoys sitting under the magnificent old trees or on the terrace from morning to night, especially during the warmer months. The menu offers everything from hearty to vegan dishes; classics include the Stadtgarten Burger and the Flammkuchen. The staff is extremely friendly and dedicated to the well-being of their guests. A definite must-see: The Christmas market during Advent around the Stadtgarten-Cafe. A small downside: The 2018 renovation of the SC was only partially successful, and the color scheme is more of a matter of taste. The style of music on the sound system is probably only for fans, and the screen that has since been installed is annoying. Sitting inside isn't really fun for me anymore. 😕 Therefore, one star deduction is definitely needed. Outside in summer and fall, but still popular! Update (June 2, 2025): The Stadtgarten Cafe is still a great place to meet up with friends, colleagues, whatever, in the warmer months, shaded by the beautiful old trees. The food is still good, even though the menu has changed, and apparently the staff has also changed (we didn't recognize any of the faces). The seating is very comfortable, and the outdoor beer garden (with self-service!) with a different menu is open, rounding out the offerings. Very nice, relaxed atmosphere and delicious food. Excellent service.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend this restaurant. The food was significantly overpriced for the portion size, and we were overall disappointed. We went there with a group of friends, and when we left, we had to eat again at home—the portions were so small. The biggest problem, however, was that a friend didn't receive her food until 1.5 hours later (after asking three times)—by which time everyone else had finished. She was also brought a dish she hadn't ordered, and she still had to pay for it. Our conclusion: Choose a different restaurant. They have high prices and low priority on portions and service.

Unfortunately, the food is only average, and the prices are expensive. The staff tries hard but is overwhelmed. Unfortunately, the restaurant is very loud, but the ambiance is pleasant.

The Cologne City Garden is a wonderful green oasis in the middle of the city and a real highlight, especially at Christmas time. The Christmas market in the Stadtgarten stands out from the larger markets due to its cozy atmosphere. The small wooden huts, the atmospheric lighting and the lovingly designed stands create a very special atmosphere. The range is varied - from handmade gifts to special culinary treats, you can find many beautiful things here. The quality of the food and drinks is very good. There is a great selection of hot drinks, including not only classic mulled wine, but also special creations. The stalls offer high-quality and often regional products, which makes the market even more attractive. What's particularly nice is that things are a little more relaxed and personal here than at the city's large Christmas markets. A small negative point, however, is that it can get very crowded at peak times. Especially on weekends, it is sometimes difficult to find a seat or to move comfortably through the stands. If you prefer something a little quieter, try visiting during the week or earlier in the day. Apart from that, the Cologne City Garden is a beautiful place - both for the Christmas market and for a relaxed walk or a cozy meeting in the café. Anyone looking for an alternative to the large, crowded markets will definitely feel at home here.

Day 1: The fries were very hard and not edible. The dessert was tough as the topic was rock hard. The waitress messed up everything when it came to billing. Day 2: pre-ordered food was not in stock. The replacement dish was a measly portion. The service tried hard, but constantly ignored the guests. Cleared dishes over guests' heads. 3rd day: you are rudely insulted because you didn't know the last name of the person making the reservation. The food was then rudely thrown at me. Politeness nil. The fries were repeatedly inedible.

From the outside, the city garden looked completely closed, the last day of January with cloudy weather... of course! But it was open!! Coffee, cake wonderful! Jutta served and advised us very nicely. Your charming smile made our day. Always my pleasure!

During the Christmas market season we warmed up there for some time with coffee/cappucino. The service was great. The drinks were of an internationally recognized standard and there is nothing wrong with them, but the 4th and 5th stars should not preclude an experienced barista.

Came to Köln for the Christmas Markets and visited Stadtgarten during out stay, very friendly, with great food and biers and a terrific atmospheric market. Family loved it. Danke Deutschland

The Christmas market there is beautiful at night. There are also a Concert for every taste.

The rating today only applies to the Christmas market at the Stadtgarten, which is super nice with lots of (local) craftsmen. The more commercial the markets in the center become, the more I like this Christmas market. I haven't visited the Stadtgarten as a pub, bar and restaurant for many years. But in my opinion, the quality of the Christmas market also allows positive conclusions to be drawn about the hospitality industry.

Cozy, unfortunately no longer an insider tip and well attended, great exhibitors. It's a shame that the menu has been changed. A few years ago you had cuisine from all over the world, for example Jamaica, which set you apart from the other markets and made you special. I'd still like to come over.

It's always nice to stop in the city garden - especially atmospheric in connection with the Christmas market and not quite as densely packed as in the city center; You can linger longer in the restaurant itself, relatively large, varied drinks menu, good food and fast and friendly service.

I was at this year's Christmas market with my family in the Stadtgarten Cologne and it was simply Christmassy, ​​magical. Lots of beautiful stands with great gift ideas and your physical well-being is also well taken care of. Prices are acceptable. Easily accessible by car, on foot or by car the KVB. A search is worth it. Highly recommended.
