The waitress was not so friendly, The food was almost uneatable. Very dirty toilet.I wouldn't come back even if they give it for free.

The staff is mostly friendly, but I would immediately throw out the madam who stands behind the counter chewing gum with a permanently long face, something like that is unsuitable for the catering industry!

Incompetent waitress who spoiled our fun

Today we were in Tünnes and Schäl with a group of 22 women. Delicious brewery cuisine and very friendly, super nice service from Stefan and Jo. We felt very comfortable and would love to come back!!

The service staff are very accommodating. The pork ribs are very tasty and the portions are large. The location of the restaurant is very central.

Nice place with a view, food is not for everyone, but the portions are big. Friendly and smiling waiters. But there was no toilet paper in the toilet and it was not very clean.

The restaurant used to be called Haus Täglich and was an institution on the Alter Markt because of the landlady and the Cologne Köbes. The reopening as Tünnes and Schäl Brauhaus was a success. On the back of the building is the Tünnes and Schäl monument, so the new name also has a connection point. The staff is friendly and professional, but no longer Cologne-like. The Gaffel Kölsch is served quickly and well chilled. There are brewery dishes on the menu, but I didn't try them. What's nice is that the windows are still there so you can look out over the Alter Markt from the counter. Times change and I just mourn one thing or another.

Very tasty food, recommended. Extra requests can be fulfilled at an additional cost. The restaurant is quite small but cozy.

The visit was overall good. Food was delicious and arrived very quickly. We would have liked to eat dessert and drink another beer, but this wasn't possible despite calling several times, which we found very unfortunate. The waitress was too busy with her cell phone and that made the visit a negative experience. Maybe a little more attention should be paid to it.

Hello everyone, unfortunately I can't agree with most of the other reviews. We sat with 4 people directly opposite the entrance. 3 waiters/them stood in front of us. Unfortunately, we noticed that the waitress's cell phones were more interesting. A no-go! Eating took a very long time, veal schnitzel was tough. The salad was good. Service with forced friendliness, a shame. For 4 people together 125€ or in my world 250 marks. Please don't be mad at me, but I was definitely not satisfied. I'll try it again at some point but please without the terrible blaring music from the mini speaker above the window. Kind regards

Location at the Alter Markt is very nice, you have to be lucky with the service. The food was tasty, but it could also be much better, especially for the price. The highlight is definitely the freshly tapped Gaffel Wiess

They have local specialities and kolsch German beer. I was a little disappointed that in the end the machine had a forced service tip. I could not exit the screen without pressing a number. Tipping is not common nor expected in Germany - don’t normalize it.

My salmon was raw and refrigerator cold on the inside, and instead of just taking the salmon, they took my entire plate away. They brought it back 15 minutes later when everyone else was done eating, and the salmon was now overcooked - deep fried crispy and everything else in my plate was now cold. Wouldn't comp me the dinner but only offered 10% off for our entire table... Only €8 on a €30 plate. It was also noisy and crowded on a Sat. They seated 5 people in a place made for 4, where I was constantly getting bumped by waiters and other customers squeezing past since my chair was inches from the table behind me. Note to the restaurant... Do not overpack your customers and when you screw up, comp the meal with no arguing! You are lucky I didn't get sick from eating uncooked salmon!

Really enjoyed the chilli chicken schnitzel and the waiter was friendly. We sat outside and enjoyed watching the world go by and the weddings taking place across the square.

We were there for my stepfather's birthday. We are a vegan family and were happy to eat delicious schnitzel, meat loaf and steak in a guesthouse. The food was super tasty and the portions were big enough. A selection of vegan sauces would make the whole thing perfect. We would be best served by Ms. Yonca. And will definitely come back again.

We had dinner here today. We were served extremely nicely, quickly and competently by Yanca. We ate vegan. The vegan schnitzel, the vegan steak and the vegan meat loaf were very good, the side dishes were delicious and the sauerkraut we also ordered was very tasty. A good kitchen performance. We would definitely like to come back

It was really a great visit. I've been here several times and I'm always satisfied. I dragged my family with me to my stepfather's birthday. The kitchen does a great job and the vegan food is awesome. I'm incredibly happy to have a nice Kölsch pub that offers me good vegan food. Our waitress (Yonca) was super nice and always noticed the shortage of beer immediately and took immediate action. Thanks for that.

**Cozy brewery with delicious food and great drinks** We had a wonderful evening in the brewery! The ambience was quaint and cozy – exactly what you would hope for in a traditional brewery. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The food was excellent. We tried different dishes and each one was delicious and lovingly prepared. The regional specialties are particularly worth a visit! The portions were also plentiful, so everyone gets full. The drink selection is impressive. From the house beer to other local brews, everything we tried was fresh and delicious. Definitely a must for beer lovers! All in all a very successful visit. We would love to come back and can only recommend this brewery

Very tasty food, right on the touristy Alter Markt. Nevertheless, the prices are overall okay (drinks a bit expensive)! The diverse vegan selection is particularly great: schnitzel, steak, nuggets! The vegan Bavarian meatloaf was very tasty. Köbes also friendly.

I find one waitress very cold and upscale (blue eyes). She just says the bare minimum, no conversation, and she's gone. Although I have to say that we have to pull ourselves together in her presence. The other waitress is clearly better very entertaining and funny. The kitchen is fine. Kind regards 😉

We decided to eat there because I really wanted sauerbraten with dumplings and red cabbage, which means my expectations were high. When the sauerbraten came it made a good impression and tasted good too. The dumplings were amazing and so was the sauce. Red cabbage like it comes from a can and the roast is unfortunately tough. Unfortunately my husband's non-alcoholic beer wasn't cold. The prices are already expensive, which is why I only give it three stars. After all, the price-performance ratio has to be right, and that wasn't the case. The service staff was friendly. And the location in the middle of the Alter Markt is also good.

Unfortunately completely overpriced and not good at all. You ask for a substitute for fries and have to pay extra for spinach. Rump steak is served raw from the inside, which has been improved, but it made the steak really dry. Not the same taste. I wouldn't recommend it at all.

Haxe war nichts besonderes. Das Kalbsschnitzel war ungeniessbar - sehr zäh und hat verbrannt geschmeckt. Habe das der Kellnerin gesagt und wurde gleich in Frage gestellt, dass das so sein muss und ein Kalbsschnitzel halt so ist. Ich als Österreicherin weiß wohl besser wie ein Original Wienerschnitzel schmeckt und wie die Konsistenz ist. Habe 2 Tage davor in einem anderen Lokal auch eines gegessen und das war sehr zart und lecker. Nach erneuter Beschwerde hat sie es mitgenommen und mir wurde ein Neues gebracht. Das war ein bisschen besser aber auch teilweise sehr zäh. Die Pommes und der Salat dazu haben Gottseidank geschmeckt sonst wären die 27€ voll für den A… gewesen.

The food was just bad, the food wasn't as described on the menu. When we asked, we were told that unfortunately not all of the ingredients were available. But unfortunately we had already received our food. Therefore, we do not recommend it.

I was at the brewery with my grandma today and the food was very, very fresh and very tasty...really tender steak cooked to perfection as requested. The sauerbraten was just as tasty and highly recommended… Service was very friendly and the price-performance ratio was great (portions unusually large) we would happily go there again…

We were looking for an inexpensive restaurant that was a little away from the usual tourist restaurants. Because we had always had bad experiences with these tourist restaurants. The restaurant we visited was great in terms of price and quality. The restaurant also offers vegetarian dishes. All in all recommended.

The food was extremely tasty and definitely appetizing! I had the “almost like schnitzel” (vegan) and it tasted really good, the sauce with the small salad was also great! I recommend this restaurant to everyone and will go there more often as soon as I'm back in Cologne. I also have to say that the waiters were very nice!

I considered whether 1 star was too harsh, but unfortunately it is justified. 1. Reservation outside for 11 people didn't work out - they didn't apologize or look for a solution but just shrugged and said "Well, unfortunately it wasn't passed on to us like that". We then put together 2 tables outside ourselves. 2. Unfortunately, unfortunately, the service was really the worst I've seen in a long time. In almost every round of drinks, something was missing or mixed up and the answer was always "Sorry, I didn't include that", even though we had actually explicitly talked about this missing drink - the same scenario really several times. The waiter was nice, but unfortunately that wasn't enough. A meal was also forgotten and arrived 30 minutes after the other dishes. 3. Fries were cold, no salt, not crispy. Salad dressing with way too much vinegar. In general there was a lot of salt and flavor missing - a shame. Apparently there was no bread, even though it was on the menu as a side dish. It's a total shame, but all in all there was a lot wrong with it :(

The atmosphere of the restaurant wonderfully reflects the charm of the Cologne tradition, while the staff were consistently friendly and courteous. The food was excellently prepared and impressed with fresh ingredients and tasteful presentation. Particularly noteworthy is the authentic cuisine, which offers regional specialties of the best quality. Overall, we can highly recommend “Tünnes und Schäl” and will certainly come back soon. A real culinary highlight in Cologne!
