Super sweet atmosphere, super nice waiter. A bit expensive, but it's okay

Food was rather inedible. First of all, it's fried potatoes with a currywurst that is completely overpriced. The fried potatoes didn't taste crispy, were greasy and tasted more like frozen potatoes. They weren't really warm either. The pizza was a frozen pizza with not the best quality. The ambience was rather poor. Old folding tables that were rickety and were placed on other tables. Nothing matched. The chairs matching tables were also uncomfortable and everything was tight. The kitchen and the whole restaurant was not clean. So not a good experience.

Actually, not really like "Grandma's Kitchen". Since there is almost every dish with fried potatoes, they should be properly made and not come across as soft and soaked in fat. Meatloaf and salad were delicious. But price-performance is not right. No recommendation.

Unfortunately it's only grandma's kitchen in name. The service is really friendly. The food, however, wasn't worth the price at all. The schnitzel was streaked with gristle and lumps of fat and was chewy. Really poor quality meat. The fried potatoes are lukewarm, weak and oily.

We are Spanish and we came to dinner on New Year's Eve. We didn't know what we were going to find, since normally this establishment closes at 9:00 at night. The service was unbeatable and the food was spectacular. Sahin took great care of us and was super friendly. We highly recommend it.

I was shocked by this place. It was fast and tasty, one of the things that was hard was the staff running around wasn’t as accommodating as the staff behind the bar for English and for wants. I really enjoyed my turkey schnitzel it was the top one in my eyes. Their food is very high quality street food.

Food was okay, you could just tell that the fried potatoes were vacuum packed and ready, which is okay due to the quantity, but it just doesn't taste like grandma's..... Especially since there are no alternatives to the fried potatoes. Very unfortunate. The service was good, the girls were very friendly. Unfortunately the store is quite small and therefore very cramped.

Soft schnitzel, far from crispy, horrible sauce, 20 euros for that. Salad: lettuce and tomato with some weird sauce. The potatoes were okay. Asked for bread and butter and it came one slice of bread cut in half and the butter was margarine. The atmosphere is far from german. I regret it immensely.

We ate here based on reviews. What a super nice restaurant, small and idyllic. The food was super tasty and the staff was very friendly! We will definitely come back here!

Frequently packed bistro serving traditional German dishes, pizza and burgers.

I had a really disappointing experience. The 2 coffees were absolutely undrinkable with a strange aftertaste that made me regret ordering it. We just left it almost untouched ☹️ On top of that, the waitress seemed completely overwhelmed, which affected the service. She was running around trying to manage too many tables and it showed. It’s not worth the visit when there are so many other places with better coffee and more attentive staff. Would not recommend.

Great food in a nice restaurant. The staff was very nice and pleasant. The schnitzel is some of the best I have ever had, especially the mushroom one. Apfel kuchen also was super tasty and a perfect amount to split after a filling dinner. Would recommend to all who are hungry and would visit again.

Funny slightly messy restaurant. The terrace is covered with a transparent tarpaulin, which, together with the terrace heating, ensures that you can sit here even in bad weather. The staff are friendly and the food is good.

The atmosphere is very simple but the food is incredibly tasty. You can hear how the Cordon Bleu is freshly beaten or prepared.

What I appreciated most... the welcome and friendliness of the staff. Despite the crowds, the staff were very attentive, a friendly word to everyone.

It’s a great place to have some rustic German food, nothing out-of-this-world, just rustic delicious “grandma’s” cooking. The service was great (the waiter was very efficient and had a good sense of humor), the food was excellent; taking one star off for ambience - unfortunately, had to share the place with loud, obnoxious and rude ruzzian speaking guests, who, as they frequently do, didn’t care about anyone else but themselves and kept talking super loud while sitting right across the table! Arggghhhh… Under different circumstances, would’ve been an awesome visit to this place. Highly recommend.

First of all you get seated with strangers on the same table. Then they messed up both orders twice, food was dry.

We visited the Christmas Market at the Cathedral and then had dinner at Oma's. The service was excellent, and the schnitzel was fantastic! It’s a charming little place with a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Typical German food in the city center of Cologne. We went there during a busy weekend (Christmas market) and it was packed so we had to wait around 20 mins until we could get a table, but we did not need to reserve. We were seated in the terrace which is covered and has plenty of heaters which was nice. The staff were friendly and we liked all the dishes.

Well, everything except the prices is pretty average. When there was hardly any traffic, I waited ten minutes for the waitress, who were all very friendly. Ok instead of Coke there was Coke Zero. I could get over it My beef bratwurst was delicious, Unfortunately, the fried potatoes are very mushy and no longer crispy. The atmosphere outside in December under a plastic tarp is not so nice. I think the prices are rather high for such a dish. Probably due to the location, the city center and its high rental fees. Still too much for the quality. I found this place looking for schnitzel since it was 1 min from my hotel. It was quiet for a weeknight. My server was Melis who took great care of me during my visit. Schnitzel was prepared excellent and the mushroom gravy was yummy. It all came with potatoes and a salad for a reasonable price. Very near the Dom too.

The restaurant is small and feels like a tourist trap. The food is below average, the apple pie was fridge cold, even the Christmas market sausages look betterIt also gets very loud when full.

We stopped by spontaneously yesterday after a long walk through Cologne. The atmosphere was cozy and there was a lot of heating (perhaps a little too much). The tarte flambée we ordered was served in just a few minutes and tasted fantastic! The drinks were also very tasty. Although the prices are on the higher end, I still think they are reasonable.

We walked in with a stroller and it's a tight space. The staff were very accommodating.

We waited 45 minutes for spaetzle with mushrooms and cheese. The spaetzle was good so far, but the mushrooms didn't taste fresh. Unfortunately, we found the prices for the portions to be a bit excessive.

Great restaurant, slow service but good quality food and coffee

We visited this café, and the food was very delicious, with a very friendly Turkish waiter. However, when it came time to pay the bill, which totaled 104 euros, another waiter, unfortunately, acted differently. Instead of entering 104 euros on the card terminal, he entered 115 euros, and we ended up paying 115. He deliberately made sure we couldn’t see the amount we were paying. We left, and only when we got back to our room did we notice that we had paid 10 euros more. It left a very unpleasant impression, especially since we really liked the café.

Ordered the traditional potato pancakes with apple sauce, which arrived disgustingly oily and over cooked. It was so oily that I had to use napkins to dry out the pancakes and overall it made me feel sick. We were harassed by the waiters when trying to decided as a group of 6 as to what we wanted, then at the end had to fight to get the waiters attention to pay. Overall, terrible experience of food and service, wouldn’t recommend for the price which was expensive.

A lovely meal at a lovely restaurant. Our waiter was so kind and accommodating to the fact we didn’t speak German. He knew English very well and recommended many items on the menu for us to eat. The mushroom sauced shnitzel was absolutely perfect. Not oily, pork was so well seasoned and the crumb outer layer was perfectly fried. My partner had the sausage meal and loved the fried potatoes and sauerkraut it came with. 10/10 in conclusion, a very welcoming and well decorated restaurant.

So: Heaven and Ääd very tasty, the portion could be a bit larger, but the taste is excellent. Farmer's omelette as well. Great service, nice, accommodating. IT CAN'T BE BETTER. The ambience is very nice, the toilets could use some renovation. But easily 4 stars. ⭐️

Schnitzel w mushroom sauce was awesome. Salad dressing was delicious. Service was quick and friendly.

We arrived and at first there was a very friendly welcome but when our food arrived it was a mixture of warmed up ready meals! 😑 We also found a large mousetrap under the table and dead rodents next to it. 😤After we pointed out the dead mouse, there was neither an apology nor a discount. So our one day vacation was ruined with a bad dinner! Overall not recommended! ❌😷

The food was not good and the wurst was not cooked at all. The smell was bad and patatoes were sour. And the worst part was that I did not eat the meal and I paid full price.

Schnitzel and potatoes was very small for 22 euros! You get twice the size for the same price at many other places. Taste was good, but portion size very dissapointing. Three hungry boys after visiting. The music was rather obnoxious and did not fit the place. Staff was friendly though.

I ordered a hamburger and unfortunately there were some vegetables with the meal and it wasn't washed properly and there was a stone in the food which caused me to break my tooth. He was nice and friendly and apologized on behalf of the chef, but all of the chef's negligence and inattention was disturbing.

First restaurant I visited in Köln at around 11:30 and there were not many people. Very welcoming and warm local atmosphere, with beautiful interior. I had a lugguage with me and they had no problem with that. The server was very nice and gentle with good service and is a good english speaker. The food was great. I am willing to visit again with my friend.

When you go to Cologne, it is a family atmosphere where you can both relax and dine with great taste. They don't just help you, they are friendly and welcoming.

Described as a "quaint restaurant", it was more of a medium pub level. Rap music was playing, which matched the nationality of the service staff (super polite, quick and courteous) but didn't fit the ambience AT ALL. The food was tasty and home-style in decent portions but as I said, the ambience can still be improved.

We had an unexpected WOOOOOW effect in "Grandma's Kitchen" that I really didn't expect. We were shopping in Cologne and our appetite for something "real", coupled with the fact that we happened to walk past this cozy restaurant, fortunately led us there. The dining room isn't particularly big, but that's exactly what gives you the feeling of visiting grandma - the loving furniture, the decoration, the narrowness and the whole atmosphere are simply rustic. We had a WONDERFUL meal there - I had the best vegetable stir-fry, which made me sooooo happy because I just wasn't expecting such a taste experience. The vegetables were AMAZING and deserve more than 5 stars. Since I was sitting with my back to the kitchen, it wasn't until the end that I noticed that the kitchen was really tiny. It's a mystery to me how so many different dishes can be prepared there and that's why the young chef's performance deserves the fullest attention because he prepares the dishes perfectly, presents them very nicely and they arrive very warm to the guest!!! I just couldn't help but thank the chef for his outstanding job and also give him a tip. Dear team, even though you are all quite young, you know how to give us guests the feeling that grandma invited us to dinner. HEART LOVED! And when we come to Cologne again, we'll see each other again - promise <3

Tourist trap. The restaurant is located in the middle of Cologne's pedestrian zone. We were served quite quickly, the food took a while to arrive and was very disappointed when it arrived. It didn't even come close to matching the pictures on the map. I ordered “Grandma’s Burger”. The burger was obviously made from the cheapest ingredients that can be purchased commercially. This was particularly easy to see in the bun and the sauce. Next to it was a sparse portion of fried potatoes. Given the hefty price of just under €19 for such a bad burger and the manageable portion of fried potatoes, my money would definitely have been better spent in another restaurant. In my opinion, the restaurant is not recommended.

After complaining, the plate was taken to the kitchen, and a short time later I had lukewarm fried potatoes drowned in fat. The salad and herring had been delicious, but the fried potatoes had been inedible. Once and never again.

Some dishes are OK, others are really bad. We had several dishes and everything was from ok to not good at all. The prices are completely unreasonable. Neither the quality nor the quantity nor the ambience match the prices. The second star is only given because the employees were at least nice.

We had Turkey Putenschnitzel with mushroom sauce. The portion was generous and the food came with salad. The food was good but taste of one of the spices was overshadowing the others but not sure what it was, it felt like tumeric to us which some might like it this way.

When we arrived we were greeted warmly and given a seat. After 5 minutes the waiter came and took our drinks and ran away. 2 minutes later another waiter came and wanted to take our drinks again. So there's a bit of chaos here. Because the same thing happened to the guests next to us. We adults each ordered a schnitzel with fried potatoes and salad and the children each ordered a schnitzel without side dishes and one with fried potatoes. The food arrived warm, but apart from the schnitzel, the rest was inedible. Fried potatoes were full of fat and not crispy at all and the salad just didn't work at all... the sauce tasted like feet that had fallen asleep. The schnitzel wasn't crispy either but you could eat it. When the waiter asked if it tasted good, I said no, not really. He didn't react at all and just ran away. Likewise the lady who cashed us at the end. What I thought was nice was that they had moved the parasol for us so that the sun was shining directly into my eyes. The restaurant could be much more than it is. A little more effort and the recession would look different. Unfortunately, the ambience outside looked rather sad.. different chairs, tables and parasols everywhere.. rather uninviting

The best thing first, the ambience, nice old Cologne style inside. Unfortunately that was the only good thing, the food was far too small and totally overpriced for the price and overly greasy, tasteless and it had a slight touch of microwave potatoes. We got the food at mismatching timings, so that one person had already finished their food before the other had even gotten them. But the food itself was disappointing aswell way too fatty.

The service is ok, but a bit slow. Unfortunately the food is very bad. The schnitzel is just warmed up, as are the fried potatoes, which are partly cold and have probably never come into contact with salt or pepper. The curry sauce from the currywurst tastes like tomato and is completely unsalted. The salad is the only thing that tastes remotely good, which doesn't mean anything good. The €19.90 schnitzel with side dishes consists of 50% potatoes, 20% salad and only 30% schnitzel. In general, the prices are very high for at least 50% side dish for every dish. The ambience is very nice at first glance, but is quickly destroyed by a massive, probably Ki-generated image on the wall.

A direct and friendly greeting from the waiter. Really fantastic food and really good Kölsch. For me as a Hamburger, Kölsch is always a thing, but it was really good. The cheese spaetzle, currywurst and schnitzel were on point and the fried potatoes were also brilliant. Prices are really fair, especially for the location. I would have expected higher prices here. Really can only be recommended, it wasn't the last time we were here.

Amazing food and lovely service! Had the Currywurst and the Bratwurst, with a long island ice tea. Really enjoyable dinner, tucked away from the hustle of the main streets. The decor could use an update to improve the comfort of the chairs.

The food was great, homemade schnitzel and breaded, fresh vegetables for the salad and the fried potatoes. We sat comfortably on the “terrace” (in front of the restaurant), were served immediately and the waiters were all very accommodating.

What can I say? Or where do I start? Before I sat down, I went to the toilet. The toilet is tattered, it smells so bad of ammonia (old urine) and you walk past rubbish and a warehouse that is open. Normally we should have gone straight on. If the toilets aren't clean, the rest of the toilets aren't clean either. There is no chef working there. Fried potatoes from a bag, absolutely inedible ready-made sauce with mushrooms from a jar. The salad dressing also comes from a bottle. So the mushroom cream schnitzel was inedible, which is what I told them. Then I didn't have to pay for it. The rest, tarte flambée and pizza, was ok, but nothing more. For the price I expect better food. Never again.
