The ambiance and outdoor setting are unique, but that doesn't detract from the food, which was excellent. Unfortunately, we had to wait a bit longer for our food than we'd like, which made the service a bit slower.

The food seemed prepared with no care, salty and burned and it was only half portion from the picture in the menu, which was disappointing. The service was extremely unpleasant. When it came time to pay, the waiter demanded a tip, and when I refused, he rudely threw the receipt at the table. Very unprofessional and disrespectful service. I do not recommend this place at all.

The dishes were delicious and also inexpensive, right in the heart of Cologne.

We had a wonderful meal for a few hours and enjoyed the lovely atmosphere. There's actually a granny in the kitchen who makes everything! Just don't be put off by being forced to tip when paying. It's really not standard to tip 10%, and being yelled at wasn't necessary either. Otherwise 5/5 ⭐️, but that's why it's 3/5 💥

The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, the Kölsch beer was delicious, and the service was very friendly and personable. They serve good old German home cooking, but I also had a great pizza. I'd happily come back. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The photos on the menu are misleading. The one that I ordered got only half of the potion that I expected. When I asked the staff about that, the waiter (who looks like from the Middle East or India) said the photos were just for reference. His attitude was bad. The hot cacao drink was made of cacao powder like Ovaltine but it was charged for €4.8. So disappointed. I feel scammed. Poor service, food not so great and the place looks shabby. With the amount I paid could easily get something better. Try your best to avoid this place.

Went out for lunch. Food was good but the service ruined this place for us. We had even talked about coming back to eat again but will not be anymore. Waiter yelled at my friend for not selecting a tip clearly thinking we are tourists, however this is not the case as we are currently living here. It is custom to round up to nearest euro and tip on exceptional service but this was not the case as service was just ok. Beware that you may be taken advantage of if you are a tourist.

I ordered food there via Lieferando, and it was canceled the moment it was supposed to arrive. So, my guest and I were very hungry, and then there was no food. And they didn't even give a reason. That's really extremely bad service!

Nice service and a very pleasant atmosphere. We were disappointed with the food. Everything was extremely greasy, there were very few vegetarian options, and the currywurst tastes much better at every snack bar (and costs only half the price). I wasn't full after the meal. The prices are far too high for the portions and the quality. We won't be going here again. I would advise against the fried potatoes; they feel like they're just potato slices soaked in grease. It's a shame, the restaurant's name was very promising.

The food had nothing to do with Ima's cooking!! We came to eat – left but still hungry! The prices didn't match the quality or the portions. The mini salad and fried potatoes had a hint of Indian cuisine... which is something you really don't want to taste in a "grandma's meal"! 😒 The restroom 🚻 was also unpleasant – dirty, like at a rest stop. The food came first, the cutlery much later... there were 2 knives and 5 forks for 4 people. Very tight! My grandma 👵🏼 definitely cooks differently! Unfortunately, our expectations were disappointed!!

It's been a long time...hi! Once again, I'm thrilled with the food here. I've already had pizza, pasta, and today's special, kale with a thick Mettwurst! The service is also friendly, prompt, and hardworking. It tastes simply delicious here, I can't say enough about it!! Come here and try it for yourself 🤩👍

4.4 out of 5 stars? How did they do it? We were barely received, we managed to get a menu ourselves which was snatched from our hands when we ordered. We had a real feeling of disturbing the server who was really not pleasant above that, almost to the point of blowing the fact that we placed an order.. Let's talk about the latter.. Frozen dishes concerning the pizza and the Flammekuche and an Omas Rosenkranz dish which has no place being there for the price, a few potatoes, a TINY portion of cabbage, 4 mini-sausages with an egg, if it can be called that as it was so burnt and crunchy under the tooth. We were hesitant about the fact that we spat on our plates because they were so unpleasant. And they still allow themselves to ask for a tip when paying?! A joke. I absolutely do not recommend this place

Cute little restaurant where Grandma hasn't been cooking for a while. But the menu reads well, and the prices are reasonable. The service was typical Cologne: open, friendly, and fun. The food was good, just like Grandma used to make 😅😉

Wow, where do I begin? The prices would be justified given the location and good service. But all 3 of the 4 dishes were completely inadequate. My meal was canceled after 15 minutes due to availability. The so-called bratwurst was a complete disgrace. The tarte flambée was undercooked and barely seasoned. My friend was served a regular wheat beer instead of a non-alcoholic beer. A complete tourist trap. As a Cologne native, I've never eaten such a bad and expensive meal in a Cologne restaurant (€4.90 for a tea). I think reviews are being deleted on a massive scale and the customer is being ripped off. Absolutely awful.

What a lousy restaurant! I ordered apple juice and got apple spritzer. We got three knives and one fork. I ordered minced meat without mushroom sauce, but got mushroom sauce with it. I got my food first, and my father didn't get his until I was already finished. The only good thing was that the fried potatoes were delicious.

The staff were more concerned with the excessively loud music than with the guests. The restrooms were dirty. Two hours of my life that I unfortunately won't get back.

The food was cold. The pizza tasted like a frozen pizza. The bratwurst was equally disastrous, as were the soft drinks (icete) disgusting.

Not a good meal! The meatloaf wasn't a meatloaf, it was a meatball, and it didn't taste good. The mashed potatoes tasted of nothing and stale. It came with a mushroom sauce that only had one mushroom on it. Good heavens, it was disgusting. The spaetzle weren't spaetzle either, but noodles like they came from a packet. We would never eat here again!!!!!!!!!!! The food was way too expensive!!!!

I'm still sitting here, and everything that could have gone wrong has gone wrong. I ordered sparkling water, and it turned out to be tap water. I ordered hot chocolate with cream, and it turned out to be hot chocolate without cream. I was asked if the fried potatoes contained onions and bacon - but I couldn't answer that question. If I hadn't been really pressed for time and so hungry, I wouldn't have even touched the currywurst. P.S.: The currywurst was served with tomato sauce. Truly disgusting. What do I get out of that? A stomach ache. A disappointment. The waitress simply took my money and said he didn't know anything about it. The sauce was freshly prepared in the kitchen.

Disgusting place! 1. The schnitzel took over 40 minutes to prepare despite the relatively low workload, and they brought the wrong drinks. The service was poor.

Great Little restaurant, where you get the impression that the food is still prepared with some real personal attention. Inside seems quite chaotic, but that’s probably par for the course for most Omas/grannies.

I thought the food here was fantastic, exactly what I expected from a German "granny's kitchen." A nice, refreshing local beer was served with it. The service was fine—nothing special, but not bad either—just fine.

We had breakfast here while on vacation and loved it. Since it was a bit cool outside, we chose to sit indoors, which was cutely decorated and very welcoming. We ordered the Apfelpfannkuchen (apple pancake with cinnamon and brown sugar), the Speckpfannkuchen (bacon pancake with salad), and the Reibekuchen (crispy potato pancakes). Everything was delicious, and the staff was friendly and attentive. I wish we had time to come back and try the dinner menu. Highly recommend!

My grandma certainly didn't cook like this! The portions are rather small for the high prices, and the food wasn't particularly tasty. The ambiance outside wasn't very inviting either. Typical tourist rip-off, with little to do with typical German cuisine.

I can't recommend it. Service: we had to wait a long time before we could order, then we were asked three times what we wanted and whether we had already ordered. The service was completely overwhelmed and had no system. The food arrived without cutlery! Only after we asked for it did the cutlery arrive after what felt like an eternity... Veggie pizza: the menu says toppings are zucchini, eggplant, peppers - it came with mushrooms, a homeopathic dose of zucchini, and peppers, the pizza base was almost impossible to cut and dry. What if you're a vegetarian and don't like mushrooms? We had Fassbrause (alcohol-free) to drink, but were then asked if we'd like two more Kölsch... (because the Fassbrause was also served with Kölsch glasses). All in all, we waited a long time for the food, the service was really awful, the food was questionable, the music was bad and extremely loud, thumbs down.

Not bad, but unfortunately overrated. The food was in extremely small portions and somewhat poorly presented. I ordered tagliatelle with mushroom cream sauce because the daily menu stated "tagliatelle with mushroom cream or tomato sauce." I got tagliatelle with tomato sauce and mushroom cream sauce on top. Unfortunately, it wasn't what I ordered at all and was a bit confusing. The ambiance wasn't that great, with tables and chairs mismatched and extremely close together on a side street. Also, very loud pop music blared from the restaurant, which didn't really fit the grandma theme, but that's a matter of taste. All in all, unfortunately, it wasn't what was advertised.

Grandma would turn in her grave, nothing more... Schnitzels taste of oil, fried potatoes hard as stone and cold to boot. (Oil and potatoes would be more appropriate.) You had to search for a tarte flambée topping...

I've never been treated with such disregard in a restaurant. The waiter is not even looking at me when serving the food - talking to other customers as I'm engaging with him. Just another tourist trap, nothing "Oma"-like.

We were there on Saturday afternoon. The food was very disappointing. Unfortunately, when we asked how it tasted and our answer, they didn't say anything. One dish was meatloaf with fried potatoes and salad, and the other dish was two fried eggs with fried potatoes and salad. The fried potatoes were a mushy, seasoned potato mush with no bacon or onions. The meatloaf felt like it was fried to death, and the fried eggs were unrecognizable as such. Just plain fried egg whites with yellow spots and overseasoned. A small bowl of carelessly served lettuce leaves with the stalk, 6 kernels of corn, a slice of cucumber, and a piece of tomato with a dollop of instant sauce. A sachet of ketchup cost 1 euro. The two plates of food (you couldn't call it food) together cost about 30 euros. We didn't eat it, but we weren't interested either. A shame. The service staff were okay, and it wasn't their fault. Not recommended. This has nothing to do with grandma's cooking.

Terrible service, extremely expensive for the minimal amount of food. On top of that, we waited almost an hour after ordering, only to be told they didn't have one of the dishes. They finally arrived, and since we were still hungry, we ordered another pizza, which never arrived. They didn't say anything to us until we asked after ANOTHER HOUR of waiting. They even charged us for a glass of tap water, and it wasn't exactly cheap.

At first glance, the restaurant appeared very nice and welcoming. However, our experience was extremely disappointing. After placing our order, the waitress behaved in a completely unprofessional manner. She questioned our taste preferences, stopped her colleague, laughed, and then loudly said, “Oh God, how can they eat this?” so that the entire dining room could hear. In addition, we had to wait an unreasonably long time for our food, which made the situation even worse. Such disrespectful behavior and poor service are unacceptable in any establishment, let alone one that gives the impression of quality at first sight.

I've never seen such disgusting food in my life! Ordered a cordon bleu for lunch today. It wasn't busy. What came out was a dry, musty-tasting mini frozen schnitzel. Along with it, rubbery, sticky, mushy, cold "fried potatoes." It was barely noticeable that they were food. Absolutely disgusting! When I complained, it was "reported to the kitchen." No apology, and I was charged the full price. Over €31 for food waste. Don't believe the good reviews! Please stay well away from this "place"!!!!!!!

The food was great with no issues at all. However, the service definitely needs improvement. The staff felt a bit unfriendly, and the food was served very slowly, we waited around 25–30 minutes. That was still acceptable as we were not in a rush, but when it came time to pay, we chose not to leave a tip given the overall experience. At that point, the waiter turned rude and literally tossed the receipt onto our table, which was quite surprising and disappointing. That said, the food itself was good.

Incredibly bad, expensive, and actually not worth a star - sorry. Everything seemed/was somehow dirty and greasy - even the lady who ran towards us while we were looking for our seats, her white wool sweater had a large, noticeable, old stain on it, and the man who served us had his pants slip down as he walked, so his boxer shorts were constantly visible. Mismatched tables and chairs, including chair cushions, outside on the terrace. Everything was in a mess. The food was incredibly expensive and bad. I had a farmer's breakfast that was swimming in grease, simply slapped onto the plate, with a small bowl of salad (in the grease) next to it, which was swimming in dressing, for €13.90. Tarte flambée with toppings that you had to search for was €14.90, and Cordon Bleu with fried potatoes was €23.90. The men's restroom was broken, so I had to go to the women's restroom. The stairs down seemed greasy. Soap (container from dm) just filled with water, toilet bowls all empty... I'm really struggling with the greasy farmer's breakfast. Sorry...but it's just not possible.

Everything tastes very bland. Grandma certainly wouldn't cook something like this. Leberkäse (meatloaf) is thin and hard. Fried potatoes are yellowish and completely flavorless. Pasta salad is watery and from a bucket. Schnitzel is thick and tough as leather. Tourist trap, but definitely not Grandma's kitchen!

Super nice restaurant, away from the tourist crowds. Well-known dishes from "Grandma's Kitchen." Had a farmer's omelet. Wonderful! Just what you'd want! Fried potatoes, scrambled eggs, onions, bacon. Quickly served and super friendly!

You can choose to dine indoors or outdoors — and outdoors is definitely the better option if the weather allows. The traditional dishes are tasty and well-prepared. One staff member could have shown a bit more kindness to make the experience even better, like the others who were friendly and attentive.

The food was cold, fried potatoes with Fondor or Maggi. The Leberkäse (meatloaf) and Nuremberg sausages were of very poor quality. A disgrace. No one asked if the food was okay. When paying, I felt like a tip was expected.

My go to spot for German specialities, and a sucker for the cordon bleu. But what I’m blown away by time and time again is the fantastic service! Such friendly waiters that really make the experience lovely.

We had breakfast there and weren't satisfied at all. The music was way too loud, it smelled strongly of food/grease, and I found the price-performance ratio outrageous (€8.90 for a pre-baked roll, a small slice of salami that didn't even cover the roll, some butter, jam, and a small coffee). The coffee was so piping hot that you couldn't drink it for the first few minutes. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it, at least not for breakfast.
