A typical Cologne brewery where you can eat hearty brewery specialties. Not for gourmets but still rustic and good!

We always enjoy coming here. The staff is very nice, the atmosphere is very appealing and the food is also very good. My team was also very enthusiastic. We had a great evening. Always happy.

Saturday evenings for dancing are recommended! Always very nice ;)

A lot of noise for dinner when the club opens, although it is true that the Germans have dinner before the Spaniards, as for the food, it is expensive for the quality they provide, the dish in the photo cost €34 per person, and it is mandatory to order a dish per diner, that is to say that if there are 4 of you you cannot order that dish for 3 if one eats less, and at least 4 pax for that dish, after dinner we went down to the disco we were like sardines in a can, the drinks starting at €8.5

We sat in the premises even though the weather was nice outside and we booked the table reservation 2 months in advance. Everything outside was already full. It was so loud in the building that it was unbearable. You could no longer understand your own words. We just wanted to eat quickly and get out. The food was very, very tasty.

Food: I had the marinated beef dish (pictured) and a pickle. Unfortunately, I was unimpressed by the marinated beef. I thought that the beef itself was a bit dry, but not chewy, and the gravy/sauce was far too salty - it really overpowered the whole dish. The red cabbage was okay and had a better balance of flavour and the potato dumplings were good - having a nice chew to them. Overall, the dish did not meet the mark and it was not something that I would ordered again. The beer situation is good, and if you order the 0.2L Gilden Kölsch, they will continue replacing your finished glass with a new beer until you ask them to stop (which you can signify by putting a coaster over your glass). Overall, this place did not hit the mark and I would look to eat somewhere else. I would not recommend this place. Service: The staff members were not overly enthusiastic, and did not seem happy to serve us (not sure if this is because I can’t speak German), but it is something to keep in mind, you might feel a bit uncomfortable when you are trying to order - like they can’t be bothered dealing with a non-German speaker. There are, however, English menus so they seem to be expecting tourists. I ended up having to grab the menus myself as no one provided us with any for some time after we were seated. When we arrived to be seated—albeit no booking—it took some time to be acknowledged. Bathrooms were clean. Atmosphere: the atmosphere is nice, especially the outside area. The inside, where we sat, was spacious and had decent sized tables/benches.

Great service and great food! We had a great evening here! The plates for the knuckle should be a little larger so that you have a little more space to "work". But that's criticism at the highest level, otherwise there's absolutely nothing to complain about!

We used to always be there. Unfortunately, the price is increased by leaving out the side salad and keeping the price the same. When paying we were asked about the small number of Kölsch. We would have liked to have ordered more ourselves but unfortunately the service never came. It's a shame, we used to love being there.

Average food and not great service. The vibe was ok in there because there were so many people (especially for a Tuesday night) but the staff all looked depressed and my meal (spinach and fried eggs) was a plate of slop. They do have giant gherkins though which were good. The one really positive thing about this place is that the beers keep coming. When you’re finished your 200ml beer, it automatically gets replaced. If you want them to stop bringing you beer, you have to put your coaster on top of your empty glass.

Good day, We are actually regular guests. I enjoyed eating there before the FC games. Unfortunately it was the last time. Most of us have always enjoyed eating the large bratwurst. 2 years ago for less than €20. Now at €23.50. Well, everything has become more expensive, you think. BUT: The portion size has become significantly smaller (amount of fried potatoes) and the side salad is simply no longer available. When I asked where it was, there was only an unfriendly “You have to pay for it now” with another €3.30. But then for almost €27, I eat somewhere else, something different than bratwurst with potatoes. My companion had chosen the baked potato from a daily menu. According to the waiter, it's probably sold out. During our almost 2 hour stay we could see that this dish was passed out to other guests several times. What also doesn't speak for Zims is the speed of the drinks. Other shops (especially in Cologne) are keen to never let your glass run empty. In Zims, you're actually looking into an empty glass most of the time. A total of 2 Kölsch were brought to us during the visit and we sat directly at the counter in the entrance area. Unfortunately, it is simply obvious that the quality has declined more and more in recent years. It will be enough for tourists at the Heumarkt. But not for regular guests.

Very nice brewery with a top ambience, the location on Heumarkt is of course great, as it is very well connected to public transport.

For me it's the most beautiful brewery in Cologne because it combines the old with the new in a very stylish way.

We were there last night. Table 911 the waiter was great, friendly, quick and simply very attentive. The food was very tasty, brawn with fried potatoes and Cologne tapas. We'd love to come back.

Tested the table brunch with the family for the first time today. Sandra and Marvin provided first class service. Thanks again for that. From the breakfast platters with a selection of sausages, salmon, mett, various types of cheese, jam, honey and even more to the warm food, from veggie bolognese to sauerbraten to the potato pancakes, everything was very plentiful and tasted great. You can't eat as much as you're offered. We will definitely book and visit the table brunch more often.

Very popular place for young and old. It's not cheap, but if you had a nice evening, that doesn't really matter.

One of the most beautiful breweries in Cologne. Right on the Heumarkt with a great outdoor area. The brewery cellar is particularly awesome! - However, it is rarely open during the week. When it's full inside, it's pretty loud...

Delicious food in a great atmosphere. One of the most beautiful traditional inns in Cologne. Unfortunately, due to the location, it is often overrun by tourists, which leads to stress for guests and staff. Still highly recommended on quieter days!

Delicious food and a nice disco downstairs. Very nice atmosphere, unfortunately the service took a little long and there are a few "waiters" whose job is only to give out cards, but they don't take orders.

So for a “summer salad” with chanterelles for 18.90 euros, I can ask for more than just green lettuce, tomato, cucumber and a few chanterelles, right?! That was really a disappointment! Otherwise everything was always appropriate. But 10 euros would have been appropriate for this dish, nothing more!

I went from Italy, the food was not good with high quality; I ordered Coca Cola and they brought me a drink without carbonation like a glass of sweetened and colored natural water but I asked the waiter to change it and he said since we don't have coke we can change it. Totally it was a nice German place with no quality.

Good visibility of GF menu items in English on their website. Printed menu only has vegetarian items marked. I ordered the cured pork which was GF without modifications. My partner ordered the bratwurst plate, subbing out the beer-based sauce for the GF mushroom. Both dishes were delicious and came out quickly, hot. Service was quick and attentive. You may not be able to pay table side, depending on what bank card you use. Paying inside was hassle-free.

First of all, of course it's a brewery. Known for hearty food (meat) and Kölsch. And the Zims serves that very well. The service was great! However, as a large group you are often accompanied by vegetarians these days and I really don't understand how vegetarian food can be so substandard and unloving compared to meat. Almost €19 for thawed, unseasoned imperial vegetables from a bag that cheekily call themselves oven vegetables but have never seen an oven, 3 potatoes and a purchased frozen “crispy fillet”. For me that's not cooking and for the price it's just plain naughty. I would like to be able to accompany my meat-eating people, drink Kölsch and eat something hearty. Vegetarians don't always want to eat healthy and light food. We also love our Kölsch and good sauces, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, mustard, onions, broad beans and maybe sometimes a good substitute “sausage”. Why not just modify real dishes instead of a “healthy” extra food without love, taste and that just doesn’t taste good?

The three of us were there last week as part of a city tour that also took us to Cologne. When we arrived in the evening, it was very busy outside, but this was also due to a sporting event that was taking place in the center. The restaurant always seems to be well attended. In this respect, we were happy that we had reserved a table by phone beforehand. Otherwise we probably wouldn't have gotten a place. We ate inside in the basement, which was really pleasant given the commotion outside. In addition, the cellar vault is very rustic and cozy. The waiter who served us was extremely nice and very on the ball! We really enjoyed the food and also the Kölsch. I can therefore highly recommend this brewery!

Food was average touristic German food in a great location. Olaf was our server, if it were for his lack of attention and purposeful incompetence, I would have rated this restaurant a 4. None of the restaurants on this square merit any great reviews, but I will avoid this place in the future. After his abysmal service, he had the nerve to outright ask for a tip!

We went around 3pm and the service was extremely fast, the traditional German food was delicious, I recommend this place to eat. It is worth mentioning that the bathrooms were very clean.

A nice brewery right on the Heumarkt. Unfortunately, the Mettbrötchen are very expensive in contrast to the other breweries. You also had the feeling that the roll halves only came from toasted rolls from the day before. Otherwise everything was great.

I recently attended an event at this fantastic venue and I was absolutely blown away. The food was exquisite, the service was top-notch, and the energetic atmosphere was simply amazing. The location itself is incredibly cool and perfect for hosting events, and its proximity to the rail station makes it easily accessible for everyone. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, adding to the overall wonderful experience.

Avoid this place. I can't speak for the food because the server refuses to come to our table after 40 minutes of waiting. We couldn't even flag him down. We just got blank stares. If you're not German, do NOT go here. The most humiliating and (non)dining experience I've ever had. The only positive was the very friendly German couple next to us who.were as frustrated as we were when they couldn't get the server to speak with us, either. They were very kind to have tried.

The ambience was very nice, the staff was very nice just a bit slow… the food was ok. The price is very high for the quality of the food. There was a piece of aluminum foil or something similar in one portion of fried potatoes and the bread was very dry, hard and therefore a bit old. The portion sizes are okay.

Just had Kolsch and in the evening this is alight with green lights. It creates a very cool atmosphere and inside you will find an adventure finding the toilets. A very smart interior with photos of Konrad Adenauer, Former Chancellor of West Germany.

The burger I ordered was fine. Nothing to write home about. The thing that stood out the most for me was the tables were tiny (the base of this tiny table made it impossible to sit semi-comfortably). And the chairs were tiny too. I never have this problem (I am 6’2 or 186cm, normal build). We had a reservation and were seated outside. I was there for a dinner, during GamesCom and the place was packed. Maybe the reason for tiny chairs and tables is they get so crowded yet try to squeeze more people by using small tables and chairs? It was bad. The food was fine (nothing special), but because of the tiny tables and chairs - I would not go here again.

It's hard for me to give a German restaurant five stars, but here they are. 2.3 Kölsch per glass, the pork knuckle is very crispy and the portion is huge (more than 2 people can eat). The store is very large and the decoration is very new.

Popular restaurant and brew house in Heumarkt square. Was very busy on the square but it's deceptively large inside with plenty of space. Walked in for dinner and was seated and served straight away. Service was quick efficient and friendly. Ordering in English was not a problem as is the case everywhere. Had the schnitzel which was delicious. kids portions too, which was enough for adults! Beer good too. Food came out very rapidly and meals were flying out of the kitchen constantly. Amazing food service. Really enjoyed it and cannot fault the food or service. Recommended.

First of all: The food tastes really good! It was very crowded so we had to wait a long time for service and food. Food was often brought to our table that wasn't ours, or the other way around, i.e. a bit disorganized. When we got our account statements 2 days later, we first noticed the high amount that had been deducted. We requested a subsequent invoice and saw that we had been charged additionally for 2 desserts for €20 (!). However, a subsequent complaint would no longer be possible… I think that other solutions could also be found in the interests of customer satisfaction if one were interested in them. Unfortunately very disappointing. Since this seems to happen often, check your bill carefully! Even if it's busy and hectic, don't skip the bill. I ALWAYS do that and now I've fallen flat on my face.

Another unforgettable evening and everything that was lost was found again 😉

The three of us were at Zims yesterday. It was beautiful. 2 salads with chanterelles and an ice cream with strawberries for the child. Salads were very tasty and the price/performance ratio was also perfectly fine. Ice cream with strawberries was presented quite carelessly, but the strawberries didn't work at all. They tasted like they had been placed under some fresh air dispenser. Not edible. Of course reported to service. Luisa(?), who was already very friendly, took care of the problem, but had no explanation for it. Nevertheless, there is a price reduction that we turned down. I thought it was great and that's how it has to be. We'd love to come back.

The restaurant is well maintained, the food was delicious and with reservations everything went smoothly and easily. It was quite loud and from 10pm on Saturday there was an even louder party in the basement, but if you know that in advance it's ok.

At first I thought this place was a tourist trap, but it proved me wrong. The Kolsch beer tasted great, and my dinner was very good quality. A very meaty bratwurst indeed.
