Very disappointing. This was our second (and last) time there for our Christmas party. The security guards were very aggressive. Because we didn't leave our rented area "on time," they actually argued about a €24 fine. That was our second and last time there. Very disappointing!

Our visit to Gilden im Zims was unfortunately very disappointing. Even before we were allowed to enter, we were greeted with sweeping comments about "what people like us are supposedly like." These statements clearly came across as exclusionary—a moment that made us feel like we were being treated differently because of our appearance. Although we were subsequently allowed in for two drinks, this was accompanied by the recommendation to avoid certain areas and music so as not to "scare" anyone. To us, this had a distinctly racist undertone and showed no sign of a welcoming atmosphere. Instead of a relaxing evening, we were left with the oppressive feeling of having been perceived not as guests, but as a problem. A real shame.

Zims is always worth a visit! Yesterday, though, the seating was too cramped and it was incredibly loud! The food tasted good, although the potato pancakes were much too thick. We'll come again today before heading back home to Munich!

Highly recommended! Definitely make a reservation, it's worth it. Great atmosphere, excellent service, and delicious food; very good value for money. We'll be back!

We were there for a company Christmas party with 18 people and received a very friendly welcome despite the hustle and bustle. Ilona kept a close eye on all the orders and requests. No one went thirsty, and the food and drinks arrived promptly and all at once. Everyone was very satisfied.

Everything was perfect, excellent service and superb food. I recommend booking because it gets very busy but it's absolutely worth it. I recommend it with my eyes closed.

Online booking worked perfectly and exactly as requested (7 days in advance). We were seated in the main dining room, right by the window, just as we'd hoped! Great atmosphere, great service, great food – excellent value for money! The food is honest, straightforward, with good portions, well-prepared, and very tasty – not Michelin-starred cuisine, of course, but for a brewery, it's top-notch! Schnitzel, roast beef, venison goulash – all superb! We'll definitely be back!

The food is good. A bit pricey, but it's in the old town, where there are lots of tourists. It's a good brewery, though. The party cellar is also quite alright. There's often a bit of a male surplus, and it usually empties out around 1:30 am.

The atmosphere is very nice. The food is pre-prepared and, while not a highlight for the price, is in a brewery, compromises have to be made.

The noise level was rather high – typical for a Cologne brewery. Our server, Rita, was friendly, quick, and attentive. My food was delicious, but others weren't quite as satisfied, for example, with the portion sizes of some dishes.

We went to Zims again after years, just the two of us. It's a very nice restaurant, modern but still charming thanks to the old building; a very pleasant atmosphere. The restrooms are also modern and clean. We got a table in the basement right away, which was fine. Our order was taken immediately by the waiter, in typical Cologne fashion, not very friendly. Gilden Kölsch was automatically refilled until we stopped drinking (by placing a beer mat on the glass), great! We ordered two Sauerbraten and a side salad. Unfortunately, the food was only lukewarm overall. When we asked the waiter about it, he simply said the kitchen was overloaded and apologized, that was it. Since our side salad was still missing, we had to ask twice where it was. We had finished eating, and about 15 minutes later we received the salad, this time without dressing. Again, the waiter apologized, saying the kitchen was overloaded. Thanks for asking. The food tasted okay, but nothing special, and I remembered the portions being a bit bigger. When paying, I only left a small tip because of the inconvenience. I didn't want to leave one at first, but then the waiter made a comment about me not overdoing it. That's absolutely outrageous! He should have offered something, like two free Kölsch beers or something like that, but nothing. We were a bit disappointed with ZIMS; we had good memories of it.

The waiters are incredibly friendly. My sister is celiac and they helped her find gluten-free options. They have an allergen menu and several delicious gluten-free dishes. The food is fantastic, the service is excellent, the restaurant is beautiful, and the atmosphere is welcoming. A perfect 10!

A lovely atmosphere right on Heumarkt. I have nothing but good things to say. Despite the large number of guests, the drinks arrived very quickly and the food was delicious. The server, Miranda, was attentive, polite, and fulfilled all my requests without hesitation. I highly recommend it!

We came here yesterday after our Philharmonic concert to continue enjoying the day with good food and a cozy atmosphere! We received a friendly welcome, even without a prior reservation (which isn't always possible), and were treated like royalty by Maurice upstairs! We'd love to come back! :-)

Delicious and always wonderful. Please reconsider the staff at the entrance for the (external!?) evening parties. Their rudeness and disrespect detract from the otherwise warm and welcoming atmosphere. Furthermore, the staff shouldn't be masked. I'd happily come during the day, but never again in the evening.

We were here in November. Beer is beer. It's the same everywhere. But Miranda, the woman who works here and served us, is wonderful. Nice, friendly, and beautiful. That's Cologne for you: diversity, lovely people who are always helpful and have a smile. We recommend this place!

A very well-organized brewery in historic Cologne that truly lives up to its location. Reservations are handled flawlessly. There's no rush even if you arrive a little early. The food is very good. However, you do need to appreciate the rustic cuisine of a brewery. The staff is courteous and attentive, with a touch of Rhineland charm. Bravo!

We had a wonderful Christmas brunch with about 70 people. The goose was incredibly tender.

We were satisfied with everything: the food, the service, and it was also cozy. It was quite crowded and therefore a bit noisy.

Traditional German food with excellent value for money. They have an allergen menu, and the waiter who served us was knowledgeable about gluten. We ordered the dishes in the photo; both were delicious and generous portions. We ordered the pork knuckle without sauce and added an extra mushroom sauce, which was very good. Unfortunately, they don't have gluten-free beer. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Highly recommended!

Drinking a Kölsch there – a pleasure among nice people.

The food was good. There was only one beer available tonight. The service was too pushy.

On November 11th, I was in Cologne at this establishment, which had been transformed into a party venue that day. Normally, it's a restaurant, but this time, people were charging a hefty fee for admission via wristbands. Unfortunately, the organization was very chaotic. During this process, I was singled out by two security guards for no apparent reason. They ripped my wristband off and sent me away, while my friends were allowed in. Even when I remained quietly sitting outside on the windowsill, two more security guards approached me and, in a very unfriendly manner, told me not to try to get in. I'm not reviewing the restaurant itself or the food, but rather the way guests and visitors were treated that day—disrespectful and unprofessional. It's a shame, because such an experience lingers.

Great service, but how could the bouncer be so unfriendly and simply refuse me entry without a wristband, even though I paid €100 for a Kölsch and just wanted to use the restroom? We were sitting outside, and even the waiter said, "Sure, go in to use the restroom" (I would have even given the bouncer something as a deposit).

Dancing into November 11th. In the basement, great music and Kölsch beer, nice people and a great positive atmosphere for celebrating.

If you're looking for a typical Cologne atmosphere, good food, and friendly staff, this is the place for you. We'll gladly come back.

The brewery brunch is a real insider tip right in the heart of Cologne's tourist hotspot. The quality and value for money are excellent. But even more impressive is the exceptionally friendly staff. Every single one of them clearly enjoys their job; you can tell at every opportunity.

Very disappointing experience. We were looking forward to sharing our student experience over a nice hot meal. Everything was going great until the tragedy. A very rude waitress spoke to us rudely and even assaulted our professor. A shameful experience for a place that claims to be friendly...

The restaurant is overwhelmed on a Thursday evening; they don't know how to manage. The waitress, Rita, is very unpleasant—no hello, no thank you—and she's even violent towards a customer. This is scandalous for such a well-known restaurant!

It's always nice to prepare for a home game of our first FC Cologne team at Zims.

Yesterday, five of us went there for a "relaxed" dinner. Although we had reserved a table in advance, we were seated in the Konrad Adenauer Room, which was uncomfortable, incredibly loud, and had tables arranged in long rows. Totally unsuitable for a cozy meal with friends. Unfortunately, our food was only lukewarm. Absolutely not recommended for a small group. What a shame.

ATTENTION: Always ask for the bill! The waiter deliberately charged the wrong amount, asked for a tip, and finally claimed that he "didn't have his glasses with him." Otherwise, the food is delicious.

Very tasty food and a wide selection of different dishes. There are plenty of tables both inside and outside, so it can be quite crowded in some places.

Schweinshaxe is so delicious👍 The potatoes and pickled onions on the side are also good. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. I had some leftovers after eating them myself, so I asked for them to be taken to-go. Kölsch beer is considered a flat beer. It's amazing!

We went to Zims – Heimat Kölscher Helden – tonight, and it was excellent! We both had the Zimsnerpfanne (spiced pork pan), which was truly delicious. By 6:30 p.m., it was already quite busy, but we still managed to get a seat for two in the cozy vaulted cellar. It was a bit cramped, but overall, it was very nicely done. There's also a really great bar downstairs – a lovely overall ambiance! --

We had a lovely evening at Gilden. All nine guests were very satisfied. Delicious food, good beer. Christian hosted our evening in a friendly and professional manner. Thank you very much! We'll be back. :)
