Fantastic food and great service! I was recently at Restaurant Keule and absolutely loved it. The food was excellent – ​​fresh, perfectly seasoned and prepared with great attention to detail. The knuckle in particular was a real highlight! The staff was also extremely friendly and attentive. You feel welcome from the first moment and are well looked after. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting – just the right place for an enjoyable evening. I'll definitely be back and can highly recommend the restaurant!

I tried this restaurant several times on my stay in Cologne, and was very impressed with the variety of food available and the quality of both the food and service. Definitely recommend this place if you are looking for traditional German cuisine and good service.

The food was delicious... I had a veal cordon bleu... very, very tender and filled with an incredible amount of cheese that runs out when you cut it... we were a seminar group of 15 people and all of our wishes were fulfilled... . I will definitely come back when I am in Cologne 😍😍😍😍😍

We went to dinner on the recommendation of the Guide (Santiago) of the Civitatis Freetour, as the best place in the city to eat the typical German dish, roast knuckle. Upon arrival we were surprised that the place was almost empty, since the rest of the surrounding breweries were full. We ordered the knuckle, and I have to say that it was a disappointment, since it had very little flavor. When we finished eating, they offered us some shots. But the worst thing was when it was time to pay that the waitress told us that we could only pay in cash, without having notified us in advance. In addition, when we look at the bill it turns out that they have charged us for the shots (the first time that has happened to me in all the trips I have made abroad, since it has always been a detail on the part of the restaurant. Also note that during dinner there were a mouse running through the dining room (I don't want to think if it had also been in the kitchen...). After all this, I already realize why the other breweries are full and this one is almost empty.

Everything was great - the service, the food, the drinks and the atmosphere. Only a small deduction because there is no card payment.

I'm thrilled, as a Franconian I ordered a Kölsche Schnitzel (for those who don't know what I was), schnitzel with onions and black pudding. It couldn’t be better………..

Yesterday we went to the club for the knuckle and the Wiener schnitzel (veal). The service was super nice and the food was really delicious. The knuckle had a wonderfully crispy skin and the Wiener schnitzel was also very tasty.

Apparently you didn't write it down. Back on site today. Everything went haywire. You didn't write down the reservation I made two weeks ago. We were seated at a small corner table and ignored for the first time. After 15 minutes we were seated at a table, sitting directly in the way of the waitress. Twice we tried to order water that was forgotten. It was very loud in the restaurant and crowded. Food was prepared very quickly and very tasty. Unfortunately, many of the dishes on the menu are no longer available. The waitress apologized for the water and gave us one on the house. Too few staff, very stressed staff.

Massive portions of delicious food but the rude waiters and terrible service ruined the experience. We (party of 3) ordered 1 entree each and waited 1.5 hours to get our food. Dessert took an additional 30+ min and the waiter was impossible to flag down. After everything he had the gall to ask for a tip. The staff was inconsiderate and rude. Btw they charge E8.50 for a large bottle of water, and they charge restaurant patrons to use the bathroom

The food was tasty but on the pricey side. Unfortunately, it was not stated that you cannot pay by card and can only pay in cash and they added their own tip worth 19 euros to the bill without any communication. Before paying we had seen a different receipt, but we only found out after we had paid and when we had received the new receipt. Not very nice, this seems like a scam for foreigners who cannot speak German.

It's a restaurant with a nice cozy atmosphere. When I got there around 12 o'clock, Haksen said he was still preparing, so I ate schnitzel. The portion was large and the salad and freshly fried potatoes that came with it were delicious haha. The staff was friendly and nice too!

We came into the Keule am Heumarkt and wanted to sit at a table, but we were refused because we wouldn't eat. We would have consumed a lot of drinks at the table, but oh well. So we had to stand at the counter with 6 people. It was very loud because of two ladies who thought they had to entertain the entire restaurant with their volume. We asked the two ladies to speak a little quieter because we couldn't have a conversation. Then these two became so ordinary and insulted us with words that I don't want to write here. Finally, my husband was threatened with a beating by his friend and one lady. Unfortunately the staff didn't do anything, which totally shocked us. People probably prefer to entertain vulgar and aggressive people rather than decent people who just want to have fun. A BIG PRAISE TO THE PRECESSORS, EVERYTHING WAS ALWAYS OK, THEY'VE BEEN IN THE CLAUSE FOR YEARS. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this restaurant. YOU HAVE TO BE FEAR FOR YOUR HEALTH.

Went there on November 30th with a reservation, our table was still occupied and we were asked whether we wanted to wait or go upstairs, the decision to go upstairs was a horror because there was a group of 8 people there who were extremely loud where they were barely understood his own words and at a distance of 6-8 meters. In addition, such sayings from them as "If I would lick her asshole" etc., sorry, but in my opinion the service was completely overwhelmed and even the group of 15 men who were behind us a little later were worlds away quieter than this group. With the change to the roulade, the food was no longer great and when paying when asked when it was changed to peas and roots with sauce, that was the statement a few weeks ago but you could have asked for red cabbage, sorry but as a waitress you should offer this if You can choose from it but according to the menu it doesn't come with red cabbage. What was a shame for us was unfortunately the last visit because the overall quality has simply deteriorated and that's why I'm sorry that the 3 stars from back then were down to just 1 star. Update from 2023... We were there on Saturday and we were told that everything was occupied due to reservations and the store was almost empty, after more than 2 hours in a restaurant in the corner everything was still empty and the same statement, that's how you feel really pissed off at the end. As always, the meal was a celebration, friendly service with quick sayings that weren't unpleasant and fair prices. For me the best restaurant centrally in Cologne.

If, in addition to the best knuckle in Colonia, you are looking for a quality of service, which is not common in the city, this is the place. I am very glad to have ended my stay in the city with such a happy lunch. The head chef is Spanish, he came out to serve us, which we are delighted with.

We were in this place a year ago and I rated with 4 and 5 stars. Unfortunately, the experience yesterday was completely different and it's the first time that after being seated and during the ordering, we stand up and leave the place. This is why: We entered the restaurant (party of 3) and were seated. The waiter forgot to leave the menus. After seeing other tables receiving them when seated and waiting some minutes I stood up and grabbed them from a nearby table (the guests had left without ordering, by the way) When the waiter came to take the order, I started to talk about my son's allergies and tried to display his allergies card. I was not able to finish my sentence. The waiter mumbled something and left to pick up something from another table. My wife and I looked at each other confused. A few seconds later the same waiter came back. I tried to show the allergies card which I have translated in the local language and asked him to recommend what my son could have. Without looking at the card, interrupting me continuously and very roughly he pointed at the part of the menu that contained the allergens and left again. This contrasts with our visit a year ago when another waiter, in spite of the language barrier, was able to point from the menu what options were safe based on my son's needs. With that attitude, we were not willing to spend more time in a restaurant that clearly was not welcoming us. It's Cologne, there are plenty of options and we had a delicious meal 50 meters down the street. They probably don't care since they are tourist oriented.

Friendly welcome because I spoke English, the table of French speakers next door was not so lucky. XXL ham with crunchy skin, excellent!! Unfortunately cold inside. The problem is the bill. I look at the total €92.40. I don't calculate, Ok, I want to pay by card. NO cash only 😞. After going out I looked at the detail there was a line "TIP 8.40". They added a 10% tip without asking me. Of course, out of the €95 of cash given, I never saw the return of €2.60. I often go to Germany, but that's not where I'll go to eat anymore.

Magnificent restaurant, with a chef, Sergio, a native of Badajoz, made in Colonia, and of exquisite friendliness. They serve you a spectacular Codillo, to share, or, if you are there for a couple of days, so as not to repeat, you can order some meats marinated with raisins and wine, accompanied by Lombard cabbage, of a quality and flavors, to be recommended. Also some generous salads, and all this in the heart of Cologne, at Haumarkt, where they hold one of the biggest Christmas markets. See you again Sergio!!

This restaurant/pub had great reviews of their pork knuckle, wich is a must-try in Germany. The short version is that is was great and way to much. Recommend ordering a half one if possible. Pork knuckles are typically cooked in two versions, the slow cooked and grilled crispy schweinshaxe they serve here or the eisbein which is not crisped. The preparations takes some 40 minutes and is Worth the Wait. They only accept cash, several ATMs are avalible nearby. Enjoy.

Nine of us were here yesterday afternoon at 2 p.m. for lunch. There was hardly anything going on (only one other table was occupied inside). We had to wait half an hour before we could place our food order. Then it took about an hour for our food to arrive. These were brought individually every few minutes, which unfortunately meant that we couldn't all eat together. Unfortunately the fries were still a bit raw. The rest of the food was ok. We wouldn't come here again as there are plenty of other restaurants nearby that offer much better service.

Typically Kölsch and really cozy! Cologne originals still work here. Food was great. You are also welcome here as a solo traveler.

The school was delicious! The cabbage that came with it was so salty that I had almost all of it left. The biggest problem with this place is that they only accept cash. I'm surprised that there are places that don't accept cards these days.

We were there today, 4 adults, 4 children. We sat outside. Waiter came out 3 times and didn't speak to us. After sitting at the table for 20 minutes, we went over, especially because the children were already getting restless. (the brewery with the orange facade) We spent around €200, which would have been their turnover. If this happens to you 10 times a day, that's €2,000 per day, that's €14,000 per week, €728,000 per year. So if you're wondering why sales could be better... Very pretty and elaborate setting but the experience was mixed. No menu in English for foreign tourists despite the central location of the place. Very complicated to communicate with the couple who work here, the man was quite unpleasant when bringing us the dishes because we did not immediately understand what he was trying to tell us. The food was okay, nothing more considering the prices. But big surprise when paying because we are only told at that moment that the restaurant does not take credit cards, why not have told us that from the start? No information is specified on site, and I don't see any comments mentioning it. Fortunately we had the necessary money in cash. I can't help but believe that it is indeed possible to pay by credit card but as there were few of us that evening everything suggests that the managers choose customers to recover part of their turnover in cash ... Be careful of this type of dubious practice.

Neulich hat es mich wieder nach Köln verschlagen. Da mir das gastronomische Angebot an der Rhein-Promenade nicht zusprach, habe ich es mal wieder auf dem Heumarkt versucht und kehrte in das Restaurant "Keule" ein. Ich wurde von den Kellnern höfflich und freundlich begrüßt und zum Tisch geführt. Da es an diesem Sommertag etwas kühler und windiger war, kehrte ich in die Innengastronomie ein. Ich bestellte ein Kölsch und eine Cola, sowie den Rheinischen Sauerbraten mit Klössen und Rotkohl. Der Teller sah optisch sehr gut aus. Das Essen war heiß und frisch zubereitet und schmeckt vorzüglich. Ich komme gerne wieder und war rund um zu frieden.

Service was friendly, after that we didn't see the service at our table again. We weren't asked whether everything was okay or whether we still had any wishes. The schnitzel was greasy, the fries were sticky. The sauerbraten was delicious. We then went in to pay, then drank my wine, but no one even came to clear the plates in that time. Even when paying, they didn't even ask if the food was tasty. The bill seemed too expensive to us, we asked, and large glasses of cola were brought, and we didn't even ask. Absolutely not recommended!

Yesterday we were with a workshop group at the Brauhaus Keule and unfortunately we have to say that we will not be coming back. The reason for this is not the food. The food itself was impeccable. The rating relates to the order, as wishes were not taken into account, and to the inflexibility of the service, as separate card payments or rebooking to multiple tables was not possible in the end. One participant had to pay the total amount by card. In addition, when ordering Kölsch, Kölsch was unfortunately served outside in 0.4l glasses.

The pork knuckle is to die for! the crackling, the meat just falls of the bone. Service was first class. We ended up stuck in Cologne for an extra night due to flight cancellations and we came back to Keule to eat as our first time a few days earlier was so good and they did not disappoint. Ihr Eis ist sehr lecker.
