The employee was inattentive and lazy, didn't bring the correct order and didn't want to understand or correct it in any way. The knee dish was cold... So don't expect to eat a hot dish here. And when it started raining, no one cared... They just rushed the payment...

Absolute impudence. As you can see from the menu, the selection is drastically reduced at a very specific time. Quite coincidentally, during Gamescom, a large number of dishes are sold out, and unfortunately, they only serve Kölsch in 0.4 liters. So far, so strange. We arrived at 9:30 hoping to find something to eat and were very pleased to hear that the kitchen was still open. However, the landlord and apparent owner immediately put himself in a strange light with numerous strange remarks. We walked in and the landlord said that unfortunately all the seats in the back were reserved (three-eighths of the tables were occupied) and actually wanted us to sit at the counter to eat. Astonished, we rebelled, whereupon we were given a table in the passageway. There, we were immediately informed, in a less than friendly manner, that we couldn't pay by card. At the same time, other guests were paying for their meals with debit cards right next to us. Luckily, a very friendly waitress took our money at the end. She had to keep asking us how we wanted to pay and even double-checked that we had two drinks, but at least the price was correct in the end. Never again, I don't want to support something like that. You should know that. With that in mind.

This place re affirms the notion that when you go to a new country always avoid signs in english and try and find one where the wait staff and cooks speak little to know english as well. This place was amazing and so inexpensive as to be an absolute delight. I would eat here again. The grillaxe was amazing and the potatoes were perfect. Even the side salad was everything i remembered about my first german meal in country. So thanks guys! You are amazing.

Schweinshaxe is so good.. The beer is very refreshing and delicious. It's the best beer of my life.. The German pork cutlet (with mushroom sauce) is really delicious, so you should definitely try it.

A top-notch team, and the price/performance ratio was absolutely perfect. The food was more than sufficient. If you really want to get full, this is the place for you, and without any loss of quality.

Very cozy pub in Cologne Deutz....hardly any tourists, but more locals

We spontaneously entered this brewery, completely unbiased. We didn't want to use the first seat we were offered because it was a set of tables and chairs in a parking space on the street. (If you like that, that's for you.) The other outdoor seating was inviting. The extremely friendly and attentive staff quickly attended to us. From then on, there would be no shortage of beer. Our food order was also taken quickly. Unfortunately, our anticipation was followed by a bitter disappointment. The cheapest products combined with poor workmanship. The spaetzle were from the cheapest. The sauce was watery and tasteless. The schnitzel at least had real meat, but the breading was greasy and soggy. Unfortunately, not one of the dishes I'd recommend. All in all, rather disappointing.

Dear Sir or Madam, I was a guest at your restaurant in Cologne with my father and brother over the Handball Final 4 weekend. We were very satisfied with the food; both the portion sizes and the quality were very good. Unfortunately, the unpleasant surprise came with the bill, which we paid by card. So the card reader was brought out, and my father paid, but the bill seemed about 10% too high. The waitress finally brought the printed bill, and we discovered that a flat €10 tip had been added without comment. We've never experienced that before. We got half of the money back and were annoyed afterwards that we didn't get it all back. The waitress certainly deserved a tip, which we're always happy to give voluntarily, but not one we set ourselves! Her response was: "Yes, it's automatically added by the system," which shows that this is always the practice. In my opinion, this is an absolute disgrace and has unfortunately significantly diminished the good impression we had previously. For this reason, we will no longer visit the inn because we consider this a calculated fraud against the customer. Very disappointing. Good management should carefully consider whether they want to continue this practice. Sincerely

Top-notch brewery and superb food with good value for money – really good all around, until it was time to pay: We noticed the amount. Only when we asked for it was the bill presented. It was automatically listed as a "tip" with €10.20, without a word about it. We would have naively given a generous tip even for the good food. Unfortunately, this borders on fraud and rip-off and detracts from an otherwise truly great experience. It's a real shame that you have to experience something like this or always have to check, and it's not a good advertisement for what is actually a great brewery. A real shame, but not acceptable.

I came to have a few beers with my friends, but we left after one round thanks to a super-unfriendly waitress who was completely unwilling to work. We left after just one round because she put us off doing anything. There was another blonde girl who served us afterward, and she was very friendly. Luckily, all is not lost.

Unfortunately, we were not served here....

Delicious Kölsch beer, delicious food, and great, friendly service. We'll be back.

Friendly owner, great food and beer

We had dinner: Haxenteller and Wiener Schnitzel Art. Both dishes were delicious, and the portions were generous and reasonably priced. We had dinner on the terrace, which was pleasant.

We were there before an event. The staff were a bit overwhelmed by the crowd, but otherwise they were friendly. Unfortunately, the food was almost cold by the time it arrived at our table. We were told to go into the restaurant to pay by card, which we didn't say. Once inside, we had to wait well over 20 minutes. When we said we had to leave early, the waiter became rude and made some inappropriate comments. What a shame.

A somewhat chaotic team that unfortunately loses track when it gets busy. On our previous visits, we only had a drink and noticed that we always smelled of deep fryer afterward. So we thought we'd try the kitchen. However, I made the mistake of speaking English with my husband, which disqualified us from a free table. But we still smelled of deep fryer after just a few minutes.

It was really tasty, especially the schnitzels. There are small portions, which is convenient if you are not very hungry. The prices are reasonable.

Great ambience and very tasty food

We were here because of positive experiences from last summer. But unfortunately this time we were negatively surprised. When we entered the brewery it took some time before we were noticed. When we were allowed to choose a table, we weren't served at all. It took 10 minutes until we could order drinks, the brewery was absolutely not full. With the foresight, we ordered the food straight away. Unfortunately, you were very rarely asked for new drinks and when you were asked, they weren't brought. Not everything went smoothly with the meal either, so the starter was brought at the same time as the main courses and the side salad, as requested, still took 5 minutes, so the rest of the meal was already empty. The highlight of the evening came when paying. We got up, went to the counter to pay and there were things booked on our table that we hadn't even ordered. So the calculation was redone again. We paid by card, left a tip on the counter despite the poor service and left. Outside we saw on the hospitality receipt that a 10% tip had simply been charged without our knowledge. This is ABSOLUTE INSURANCE!!! especially with the “service”. Nevertheless, the food was very tasty.

We wanted to eat there last night (sunny Saturday evening). Deutz was full and the waitress seemed to be very overwhelmed. We waited for about half an hour and the waitress passed us 12 times and said several times that she was coming soon. But she didn't come and was in a very bad mood. So we left too. You could simply set up fewer tables outside if you can't do as much with the staff. Or at least tell us that we should expect longer times. But always saying that you will be served soon and then having to keep waiting is stupid! Food didn't look bad though. Unfortunately there are hardly any vegetarian dishes. Just a small side salad, a large tuna salad, baked potato and spaetzle, I think. The menu wasn't long.

It is said that there are no seats available even though some are clearly free and not reserved. The lady from the service dumped us right from the start and the rest of the staff completely ignored us. Something like that is an absolute no-go.

The waiters ignore you even though they are looking directly at you. Apparently you have to flick in front of their nose like dogs do to get them to react. Well, we're not animal trainers - we waited in vain for someone to bring us a menu or at least ask for drinks. Finally we left and wasted our time for nothing. We spent a whole hour trying in vain to get the staff's attention from the table and at the bar.

We ended up there at carnival because we wanted to go to the Antik-Brauhaus. Apparently the second owner after that. Placing orders was difficult and had to be repeated several times. The team seemed completely overwhelmed. When we had to pay again for Kölsch that had already been paid for, we had enough. The schnitzels are really XXL.

My wife, our son and I had dinner here at the “Sion Bräues Traditionsbrauhaus” in the evening on Friday, February 7th, 2025. We originally considered another nearby restaurant. However, this restaurant was so crowded and guests stood in long lines to get a place to eat. That was too complicated for us and we were hungry. So we tried Google and on the way to a suggested restaurant we happened to pass this traditional brewery “Sion Bräues” and actually managed to get a table. Despite carnival time. What luck, because we were greeted in an extremely friendly manner by the two ladies serving and the boss himself and taken to the only table still available. The old brewery furnishings alone radiated absolute cosiness. The menu left no desire for traditional cuisine and dishes. Starting with Halver Hahn with house-style oil, Rhenish sauerbraten, homemade goulash with spaetzle and salad, Himmel und Äd, grilled knuckle and beef roulade (approx. 200g), etc. everything was on offer... and it was all soooo delicious. We had Rhenish sauerbraten, grilled knuckle and homemade goulash. First of all, a few Kölsch and the mood couldn't be better. We ate very well, drank a very good Kölsch and had a really nice evening. Unfortunately, I couldn't pay by card and since I didn't have much cash with me, I had to go to the nearest ATM. It wasn't particularly pleasant, but otherwise really highly recommended.

A small brewery where the tables are too close together and you always have to be careful. The service was very nice and accommodating. The orders also came to the table very quickly. Unfortunately, my schnitzel "Viennese style" was not baked evenly (you can see that in the photo) and was generally pounded to different thicknesses. The fries were ok. The side salad had more dressing than fresh vegetables - it was less tasty. After the visit everything smelled like frying oil, which also bothered me. However, the portions are huge and the prices are good. So you can visit the restaurant, but there are points for improvement.

You have to take a close look at the invoice and have it handed over to you. We didn't use the printout because what we ate was read to us. Nevertheless, the debit was €8.80 higher than we had consumed. There was no response to an explanation email.

The food was tasty and quickly served at the table. Attentive service served us quickly brought new Kölsch. Prices are good. All in all, you can't complain.

In terms of price, it is rather more expensive compared to comparable restaurants. Schnitzel and fries ok, both from the deep fryer. If the food is served five minutes after you order, you know straight away. Unfortunately heaven and earth are not “heavenly” at all for the price. Mashed potatoes clearly out of the bag, which was also confirmed by the service. Not even spiced up with a little milk and nutmeg. Simply mix the bag bluntly and serve. Cheap applesauce also from the bag. And that for a whopping €18. Service inattentive even though there was almost nothing going on. You had to ask for Kölsch. Just as bad, I can eat cheaper somewhere else.

Extremely unfriendly host who seems to have no manners. The rest of the service was very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, the very negative demeanor of the “boss” is largely remembered

Please avoid if you are tourist!! The server/owner insisted we pay cash, even though we see they have a card reader which are being used actively with locals. We felt very discriminated. We had to go outside all the way to find an atm.

Hello, we were there at around 10 p.m. on a Saturday. The landlord where we went into the restaurant was no longer sane. We were drinking a beer and we noticed that a little mouse was running under the tables in the back area towards the toilet... I alerted the waiters and left. Not recommended at all!!!!

Never go there if you are a tourist or don't know enough German. We have been forced to pay with cash even though we had the dataphone in front of our face and a lot of stickers throughout the restaurant indicating that you could pay with card/contactless They have given us a handwritten invoice and they have set the price they want even seeing that the other local customers have paid by card without problem and even lower amounts. The staff does not speak English or at least the person who understood us and when we told him that we did not have cash, he told us to go get cash to pay. If you are a tourist, never go there because it will do the same to you, and if you think I am exaggerating, look at the other reviews and you will see that they say the same thing as me, it is a shame that the food was good, it ended in a bad experience.

We had a fantastic afternoon at Sion Bräues traditional brewery! Our whole group loved the delicious food and warm service from Andrea. The traditional atmosphere and the freshly tapped Kölsch made the experience even more perfect. And the support with the “suspender repair” with a Cologne “Schlöpi” was of course a highlight for our carnival troupe! The team was super friendly and took great care of us. Service was nice and good. Unfortunately the rump steak was too firm. Meat was not good as the herb butter was tasteless. I think 74 euros for two rump steaks with 2 Kölsch and 3 lemon drinks is too much. It was a shame that the decoration where it used to be was taken down. We'll prefer the rump steak again next time Deutzbrauerei Eating out. I hope you get it back like it was on my previous visit.

We ended up here by chance before the Kölner Haie's home game and had no expectations of the restaurant. I have rarely been so positively surprised in my life. The service was very quick and friendly and the food was absolutely outstanding. Many schnitzels have already found their way into my stomach, but none of them even remotely as good as this “Viennese style” schnitzel. Really very, very tasty and recommended. We'll definitely be back!!

We wanted to eat something before the Kölner Haie ice hockey game and ended up here by “coincidence”. We had schnitzel and goulash and it was by far one of the best meals we've had in a restaurant recently. The lady in service was super friendly and very quick. Absolute recommendation for the Sion Bräues traditional brewery!

We came here again last week and had dinner. The food is good. Good quality. Make a reservation if you want to eat there on a Saturday evening. It was full. Since we were 8 people, we had of course made a reservation. Very friendly service.

It was really nice weather you could sit outside but there were no people there. So there was no feeling of well-being. If there had been more going on I would have stayed longer. So I limited myself to eating and started walking again.

Unfortunately we weren't able to get to know the brewery. The waitresses walked past the tables blindly and deafly, even though we tried to make ourselves noticed. Not all the tables were occupied. After about 30 minutes we gave up.
