-SCAM ALERT- If you're a tourist, don't go here! The (presumable) owner starts off as very friendly/funny, but when the bill comes, the mood quickly changes. He will give you a handwritten bill, with marked up and/or made up prices, so your final bill will be much higher than you would expect (in our case, he calculated our final bill 40-50 euro higher than it should be, when compared to the menu card). When coming in, he will start off saying "cash only". But during our time we have seen multiple customers pay with their card with no problem. Also, they were getting actual receipts from the register, instead of some random incoherent handwritten bill... After witnessing people pay with their card, we asked again if the card machine is working again and he said no. Peculiar. Because we were suspicious of this handwritten bill, we started calculating the final price ourselves using the prices on their menu card. Whilst we were doing this, he saw him getting pissed, saying some things in German we didn't understand. The price we calculated was indeed 40-50 euro less than what he came up with on his handwritten bill. When we got up to pay this calculated price we saw him discussing with (presumably) another tourist couple that also received a handwritten bill. We paid the amount we calculated ourselves and he didn't seem to object very much. Because we just wanted to get out, he got to keep the change we should have received, but it certainly was not deserved! The food was actually very good, but it is not worth getting ripped off over. Stay away!

We were pushed as a group into the back room without any further attention and when asked we were ignored at all even though we drank with 8 people and also paid. Something strange and when I asked they gave me a beer and thought that would settle the matter without an apology Leaving the beer will not go back to this store because it's not worth criticizing at all, I'm pretty disappointed

The food (beef roulade) was very tasty, but it was still the first and last time I visited this brewery. The service seemed listless and confused. I ordered a Coca Cola Zero to drink, this was also approved, but apparently there was no Coca Cola to drink, but Pepsi. It would have been nice to have pointed that out! When I wanted to pay and indicated this with my raised hand, I was skillfully ignored. I had to make 2-3 attempts and stretch my entire arm towards the sky and stubbornly maintain eye contact until one lady finally had mercy and told the other waitress that I wanted to pay. This attitude is unacceptable and disrespectful. Once and never again!

I had the kölsches krüstvhengulasch mit brot, and it was very good, thicc saus with good mean. The german bartender was the best. I dont speak german to well, but he was very patent. I will never come back to koln but i have to to get here again

Not recommended for tourists or if you don’t have a respectable level of fluency in German. The food portions were sizeable and pretty tasty, and the beer was decent enough Kölsch. However when it came to paying, the owner (presumably) added an extra €45 after the tip for a table of 6. When we politely questioned this and did a breakdown of the bill, he started shouting “my money, my money” and slamming the table, threatening to call the police if we didn’t pay the full amount that he seemed to have made up on the spot. A younger waiter who spoke good English initially said that we could pay with card, but then got worried and asked if we could pay with cash instead. We ended up paying in full and leaving as quickly as we could, but I highly don’t recommend anyone goes there again.

Sat outside and drank some Kölsch. Here you can easily observe life on the street, the service was good, we never ran out of Kölsch! We didn't eat anything, but what was brought out looked very tasty. We'd love to come back.

Unfortunately we were simply ignored here. There was certainly a lot going on, but when the service staff runs past you several times, stressed and annoyed, something seems to be wrong. After half an hour we left again.

The owner of the brewery is an arrogant and mannerless person! Just today, during the European Championship game between Switzerland and Germany, he came to the ice cream parlor opposite and stood in front of the television with 30 people. He passed Waiting to do this in front of the television and after politely asking if he didn't want to disrupt the public viewing any further, there was only one stupid comment. The gentleman is the owner of this brewery and has no manners whatsoever. I would never support a guy like that by visiting. The man is not from Cologne!

We were there yesterday and all three ate the knuckle with fries. It was okay, you can sit there well and the service was very busy but friendly. But... all three of us have had stomach bugs since last night 😅 It's a shame... that was probably the first and only visit there.

Well, that was really fun! Great and attentive service and big compliments to Florian, who had his first day. Food excellent!!! And Sion Kölsch was tasty. By the way: Best cheese spaetzle ever! Reservations made sense, so we had a good spot

Proper German bierstube. You should try the crispy haxe. Seriously. You will end up with a heart attack the morning after, thinking "yeah, worth it.".

Bad experience. We were forced to pay in cash, even though other people next to us had paid smaller amounts by card, because the restaurant owner “was in a bad mood” - the employee's justification. Restaurant disorganized and not very clean. €46.40 for 2 wiener schnitzel, 1 beer and 1 water We do not recommend

The roulade was pretty tasteless and overpriced (almost outrageous) The service isn't great either.

We ate and drank very deliciously before a comedy brewery tour, but there was only a small selection of food. Presumably because a major event was taking place in the premises from that day onwards. The subsequent tour was very fun and informative. Hajo did a great job and had a good time.

As the other reviews say, service is non-existent. You wait 15 minutes until you are served and then another 15 minutes until your drinks are delivered, half of which are wrong (for two people!!) Food is mediocre as you would expect from a brewery.

Where to start here, I haven't eaten there and I won't. I can tell you the reason. I can see how the goods are stored without cooling in the stairwell. I got to know the unfriendly staff myself. The trade inspection office should take a look at these things and the health department and they should go into the basement. I've seen a lot of things and I have no interest in getting food poisoning. How can you say everything is ok dirty, you should clean properly inside and out. I've already eaten in a few breweries but there wasn't anything like that there. Whether at lunchtime or in the evening it is always full and the friendly staff are especially important

Rustic brewery with home-style dishes and Kölsch. The operation may seem a bit rough to some people, but it somehow fits into the picture. I liked it. Quality of food and drinks was okay. Unfortunately it was a bit chilly in the room.

Simple and typical brewery atmosphere. Food is good, nothing special, but tasty. Unfortunately the service is catastrophe. Completely overwhelmed. We waited forever to order and then we went to the front to pay because no one came. We even stood at the front and had to wait. Unfortunately it was the last time

We made a reservation for 12 people but tables were only provided for 10 people that could fit 8 people. The online menu is out of date and you have to add an average of 3 EUR for each dish. Everyone can judge for themselves whether one star is justified.

Good morning. We had the Schnitzel Viennese style and Schnitzel Hollandaise. It tasted good and the portion was more than enough. The service was friendly and not obnoxious. I like it. We'd love to come back

Food is half stuck under the plate… Price-performance is a disgrace. Traditional breweries seem to treat it like this: food average, service unfriendly, ambience rustic, chairs very uncomfortable. Salad dressing inedible. Käsespätzle (almost) without cheese (more like cream sauce, the same as (grandma's) potato salad?) Drinks (wine ordered by the bottle) served in glasses that weren't even dried. Some of the food tastes good. Of the already significantly fewer dishes on the menu on site (compared to those displayed online), more were not available. The portions are so different, even for the same dish. Next time again star restaurant, the prices here are almost the same, the service and presentation are the opposite.

I haven't had such a bad meal in a long time and I thought that wasn't possible in a brewery.

We celebrated a lot there, for example. carnival etc. and moved away from Deutz in 1980. Although I have been nearby many times, it was only on Good Friday 2024 that I was there with my brother. 👍🍻

Unfortunately the food was a flop! As you can see in the pictures, we each ordered the Metthappen and the knuckle plate. When we ate the mead, we were surprised at the taste, but didn't think about it any further. However, if you look closely at the picture you can see that it wasn't Mett, but an onion Mettwurst. This of course also explains the taste. ... and that in Cologne... 🤨 The knuckle plate came out of the microwave. Was just warmed up from where. This was clearly noticeable in the high uniform temperature of the meat and noodles. You can also see it visually in the burnt areas of the sauce. The meat was of poor quality but was overcooked due to the reheating and was mostly rather fatty. Everything was also very carelessly arranged. We were honest about this when we were clearing away. What was great was that the employee didn't come with excuses, but explained the circumstances due to a lack of staff and handed out a Kölsch. Afterwards we sent the restaurant another email with the pictures and our feelings. We haven't received an answer since the beginning of March. Unfortunately we are very disappointed with the dining experience. And that for 80 euros... 🤨

Rustic brewery with traditional cuisine. If you want to enjoy a down-to-earth evening, this is the place for you.

The Wiener Schnitzel was big but dry. It could have been pig. The fries were very bland. The food wasn't good, but the service was friendly and accommodating.

Nice little brewery on the Deutzer Freiheit. Hearty home cooking, just as I expected before the visit. There is a standard menu but there are always daily dishes on boards in the restaurant. We had the goulash with spaetzle and roulande with dumplings. For me one of the best goulash in Cologne❤️ The waiters were super nice and Kölsch always came quickly. We'll be back 😊

After dinner, you can take photos of the cathedral at night at the same location Reasonable price, highly recommended

Classic brewery in the heart of Deutz. Nice atmosphere, good service and reasonable prices even on carnival. The schnitzel was very good and really a large portion.

Great food, friendly service, what more could you want. We will be back.

Very stripped down card. Almost just schnitzel. Not even salads.

Very tasty and large schnitzels fried in the pan. The service is very attentive and friendly. You can't always serve the full house quickly. But that is not possible even with the small number of operations. They're almost at a run. Always remain friendly. The ambience is normal brewery style. We will definitely come back there before the next Haie game.

Simply rustic...great guests, great hosts, delicious food and Sion Kölsch.

All in all ok. The portions were quite generous and tasted okay. The Kölsch also tasted ok, but it didn't come "automatically" like a brewery. You don't normally order it in the brewery, but it comes as long as you don't have your beer mat on the glass. We had to order it every time and the glass was sometimes empty for up to 5 minutes. To be fair, I have to say that there seemed to be a shortage of staff there today, which can certainly be a problem in the catering industry. You can go there again - but you can also test new locations.

Food was very tasty, huge portion, real brewery! Plus delicious beer, which always came promptly without having to say anything. Very nice service...

So excited that I went two days in a row…. Yesterday and today. I'm visiting Cologne... And I have certainly discovered my favorite restaurant here. I've actually never had such a good schnitzel before. I'm not exaggerating... it was just a dream how crispy the breading is... and with the sauces, everything melted in your mouth like butter. From now on I will definitely only eat schnitzel here! Can only recommend it!!! By the way, the staff was top, friendly and professional! We were in Cologne for the European Handball Championships. Found a nice little brewery there. We immediately liked the friendly atmosphere there. The friendliness led us to choose the Sion Bräues as the point of contact after our handball activities during our time in Cologne. They were beautiful and funny hours. Food was miserable. Non-guests stood in line in front of the toilets and therefore with their buttocks on our plates. The smell of toilet stones was over our table. The knuckle was still raw inside and the fries had just thawed.

Update 1/24/24 The price for schnitzel with potato salad has been raised massively. Rip off ! No more stores for us. We won't go there anymore!!! Schnitzel with potato salad is very tasty. Prices are not excessive.

Nach der Demo gestern dagewesen, obwohl es total voll war hatten wir eine super nette Bedienung und nach 30 Minuten sogar 2. Beide trotz des Stress gut gelaunt! Die Schnitzel waren riesig und mega lecker. Danke, wir kommen gerne wieder!

Wir waren gestern mit 8 Pärchen im Sion Bräues essen,alle waren total begeistert..Die unterschiedlichen Gericht waren alle sehr lecker,das Schnitzel ist eine Wucht ,sehr knusprig und riesig. Auch die Currywurst ist sehr lecker,hervorragend gewürzt,alle Speisen kamen gleichzeitig zum Tisch und waren heiß. Die Bedingungen, sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, nicht aufdringlich,kein Stau bei den Getränken,auch der Koch in der Küche sehr freundlich. Wir kommen beim nächsten Köln Besuch sehr gerne wieder..

Wer wie ein Frittenbude riechen möchte und seinen Geldbeutel erleichtern möchte ist hier richtig. 8€ für eine Portion Pommes ist frech. Null Verständnis für den Fettgestank im Gasthaus, den man auch noch am nächsten Tag in den Klamotten hat. Klassische Touristenabzocke...

Das Essen ist wie aus einer fertigküche genießbar aber nichts besonderes

Leckeres Sion und 1 xordentlich belegtes Metthäppchen im vorbeigehen,was will man mehr.

Deftig, sehr lecker, für gute Esser sehr zu empfehlen! Nette Bedienung und normale Preise. Innenausstattung urig, aber auch altbacken.

Absolut überfordertes Personal, hier sitzt man länger auf dem Trockenen, als man ein Getränk vor sich hat. Das Essen war durchaus lecker, aber vor uns hat der halbe Laden sein Essen bekommen, obwohl wir die ersten waren, die bestellt hatten

Top Laden, leckeres Essen (vorallem das Gulasch, die Roulade und das Schnitzel) und fein perlendes, kühles Kölsch! Der Service ist gut gelaunt und schnell! Gehört zu den Top 3 in Deutz - absolute Empfehlung!

Wir waren als erstes drin, aber alle die nach uns kamen hatten ihr Essen vor uns. Die erste Stunde nur die Chefin da, bevor die nächste Hilfe kam. 1 1/2 h später kam dann endlich das Essen. Das einzig positive daran es war üppig und lecker.

Это первое место, в которое мы попали, приехав в Кёльн. И ни на секунду не пожалели, что выбрали его! Порадовала атмосфера, вкусное пиво и размер порций. На фото ОДНА порция шницеля!) А на вкус – казалось, что ничего вкуснее мы в жизни не ели. Поэтому смело рекомендую это место!

Es war etwas eng. Wir haben uns dennoch sehr wohl gefühlt weil alles perfekt für uns war! Sehr große Portionen und das wichtigere....es war auch auf den Punkt gegart👍Die Damen vom Service echt auf Zack!!!! Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen😊

Sehr uriges Brauhaus, original Atmosphäre, Schnitzel sehr groß und wirklich lecker.

Waren Abends spontan zu zweit dort. Der Laden war sehr voll, dennoch bemühte man sich uns einen Platz anzubieten was auch geklappt hat. Ich möchte hier noch die wirklich netten Bedienungen hervorheben die selbst im Stress noch freundlich und zuvorkommend waren! Das Essen hat uns ebenfalls sehr gut geschmeckt. Gerne wieder!

Sehr schönes Altes Brauhaus. Die Bedienung war sehr nett und wir wurden herzlich empfangen (6 Personen). Wir alle hatten Schnitzel bestellt und waren bestens zufrieden, wenn wir das nächste Mal wieder in der Nähe sind, wollen wir wieder herkommen. Von mir gibt’s eine klare Empfehlung!

Lecker Essen! Lecker Kölsch! Preise voll in Ordnung! Leider hatten wir den Tisch nochmal gewechselt und die Handtasche dabei am Stuhl hängen lassen. Die 2 Damen die sie an der Theke abgegeben haben, haben 220€ aus ihr entwendet. Wie assozial muss man sein... Aber wir sehen sie bestimmt wieder - die Gesichter haben wir natürlich nicht vergessen, denn wir saßen ja den ganzen Abend gegenüber!!

Urig und nett echt Kölsch, traditionelle Küche, für vegetarisch ungeeignet. Nur backkartoffel mit quark. Leider auch keine Muscheln die dort vor einigen Jahren noch sehr gut waren.

Haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt. Wir hatten Hausgemachtes Gulasch mit Spätzle, vorspeisensalat und eine gemischte Fleischplatte. Perfekt, das gute Kölsch hat alles abgerundet. Nette Bedienung.

Tolles Kölner Brauhaus mit viel Atmosphäre, perfekten Wirtsleuten und gemütlichen Gästen. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Immer wieder eine ehrliche rustikale Wirtschaft. Haben da schon einige Fußball Übertragung gesehen. Essen wie bei Omma und neben lecker Kölsch gibt's auch Büble Weizen. Wir kommen gerne wieder
