My baked potato was very watery, and the fish side dish was from a package. The service was nice, but quite slow.

Poor service and oversight, even though it was a very quiet evening. They serve lukewarm bottled water, you have to ask for the accompanying salad. The kitchen smells of rancid margarine. The meat is fried too hard, potatoes are served unsalted. In other words, a tourist trap. The room itself was cozy.

If you want to eat good food in a special building you have to try this place. Very cozy restaurant and very smiling and sweet staff. Big portions and really good German food. Highly recommended.

A very nice location. We really enjoyed the food. We can generally recommend this restaurant. What we didn't like at all was the time it took for the food to arrive. There were hardly any guests there, but we still waited about 45 minutes. For us, that was unacceptable.

This restaurant is ideal for gourmets who want to sample traditional cuisine. Two beers, brewed exclusively in Lübeck, are particularly recommended. Located in the old town, the service is fast, the portions are generous, and the food is delicious. While the interior is small, there is outdoor seating. Tip: It's best to reserve a table in advance.

First time in Germany a waiter pressured us into tipping him pretending it had to be given even though his service left much to be desired. When we called him out on the lie he got really mad and extra rude. Unbelievable. Food was good, the typical German setting is nice.

The atmosphere was like in other places, the local choir ate this evening and gave a great concert with singing and atmosphere, there was a little more waiting time this evening because of the large company, but this did not matter. Yesterday we had dinner at the Kartoffelkeller. We sat outside on the terrace and had extremely friendly and cheerful service. Even though it was very busy, their attentiveness never wavered. The food was delicious; the Lübeck Kartoffelkeller offers a creative selection of potato dishes. Vegetarians are also well catered for. The portions are definitely generous, and the taste is excellent.

The time to wait to order and get drinks and food was way too long! The waitresses were super stressed and barely looked at our table. Unfortunately the food was nothing special either, a bit overcooked schnitzel…. Unfortunately the noise level was also way too loud.

If you don't happen to pay attention to the signs near the "Heilig-Geist-Hospital," you could almost miss this gem—and that would be highly unfair! The cellar vaults maintain pleasant temperatures even when the mercury is at record highs, and what could be better than excellent food to go with it? The schnitzels are impeccable, the fish is also highly recommended, and if even my two younger gourmets left completely satisfied, that must mean something. The service is also nothing to complain about; even though we arrived spontaneously, we found a good table and everything went smoothly. We'd be happy to come back.

The food was nothing special and cost around 270 kronor. For that price you expect not only good food but also good customer service. Unfortunately it took over 50 minutes for the food to arrive, which is far from acceptable.

We went there on the recommendation of our tour guide, who lives in Lübeck – he was absolutely right. The location beneath the Holy Spirit Hospital is unique, the service was friendly, we didn't have to wait long, and the food was very good. We had herring with fried potatoes, which was simply fantastic. Large portions, excellent value for money. We'd be happy to go again.

We walked past in the afternoon and saw the cozy outdoor seating. Since we had been out and about for a long time, we just wanted to sit down and have a beer. Another group was sitting on the outdoor seating, drinking wine and beer. Otherwise, all the tables were free. When we asked the staff if we could sit down to have a drink, they laughed at us and said that of course we had to eat if we were to sit there. When we left, they continued to laugh. We felt insulted. A very unpleasant treatment.

We took a day trip to Lübeck and spontaneously stopped in for dinner. The historic ambiance is a highlight in itself. The service is second to none; the M&M team, in particular, impresses with their charm, wit, friendliness, and perfect recommendations for food and drink. They even gave us some travel tips for our tourists. The food is also highly praised: a culinary delight with generous portions. So if you're in Lübeck and looking for excellent cuisine, top service, and a great atmosphere... this is the place for you! A tip: depending on the day and time, it's probably best to make a reservation anyway. We'd love to come back; it's definitely a highlight!

We got the Bayern Schweinhaxe and they were really delicious and crispy. But it's not just the food, the service ladies were super super nice! They kept asking if we need anything else and even chatted with us. Makes the whole dining experience heartwarming. Highly recommend it. BTW the haxe only serves on Friday and Saturday and needs to be booked ahead.

Dining in a cellar was super cool! The restaurant is located right next to or attached to the Hospital of the Holy Spirit. The cellar is well decorated with paintings and chandeliers. The service staff are really nice even though they cant really speak in English. The pan fish was simply divine! The fish was fresh and silky paired with chunky mash potato. The vegetables on the top add a nice freshness to cut through the heaviness of the creamy sauce and oily fish. Also ordered herring with potato pancakes. The pancakes were good but really heavy, so it works well with the pickles and other pickled vegetables. The dark beer was really good! Very light with a hint of caramel and malt notes at the end - the aftertaste was a lot like rooibos. If you like beer but you arent a fan of the bitterness, this is a great choice! Overall a great experience, highly recommend!

We've been to Kartoffelkeller several times, and it's been great every time. The food, the service, and the ambiance. We're already looking forward to the next time.

We found the shop by chance. After a long journey, we were hungry, and we weren't disappointed. You can tell from the food that almost everything is homemade and that the people in the kitchen love their job. The service was also very friendly and accommodating.

It's really atmospheric place in traditional basement, German food in the menu. they are famous for dishes with or from the potatoes. big potato - vegetarian option was good, but dry a little, not enough souce. baked potatoes with ham was great 👍 schnitzel was ok, huge but a little bit dry. I recommend to visit this restaurant. polite and fast service, good atmosphere🤌

The waitress greeted us very warmly and immediately made a friendly remark because we hadn't made a reservation. Exactly our kind of humor. She was always trying... no, that means she can't do her job. In other words: A great girl with her heart in the right place, who seems to love her job. Oh yes, we ate too much. Well, we're taking a star off for that. The pork medallions were a bit too dry. The buns were fried too long. But otherwise, a cozy atmosphere. The highlight was the rustic food cart. I went to the Kartoffelkeller in Lübeck with my wife today and was very pleasantly surprised: the potato pancakes were delicious, and the potato waffles were simply divine. We were served by Mira, who gave us excellent advice and was attentively looked after. Conclusion: We'll be happy to come back and have already recommended this restaurant to our friends.

I can highly recommend both the schnitzel with fried potatoes and the fish with mashed potatoes. Plus, the wonderful ambiance in the vaulted cellar.

Super cozy atmosphere, very good food, and the staff simply fantastic. Miriam deserves ****** stars. We tried to make a reservation, but couldn't get a table. No problem for the next evening, "but they would reserve a particularly nice table for us," was the reply. We were then greeted by another lady with, "Oh, you're the one with the particularly nice table." Warm, with a Berlin accent, or like in Cologne's old town, you immediately feel at home. Thank you again!!

The sun was shining, but unfortunately, the outdoor area was closed when we arrived. Due to a lack of staff. It's a shame, but that's the way it is almost everywhere these days. Nevertheless, a solid meal in the cellar with wonderful herring and slightly burnt rösti. Friendly service.

The food is honestly outstanding. Service was really good, in spite of there only being about 4 servers for the entire restaurant (which, the night we went, also inlcluded what seemed to be a large birthday party with about 50 people), who were also running the bar area. I have eaten a lot of Bratkartoffeln in my day but it's been nearly 2 weeks since I went in and I still can't stop thinking about them. There isn't a huge menu to choose from, but they put a lot of care and effort into what is there and it shows. Definitely make a reservation - seating is limited and it fills up quickly.

We found this beautiful place yesterday after a long walk and were very hungry and we were thrilled, we felt warmly welcomed as if we had only been away for a short time... The employee was so sweet and friendly, gave us good advice and then brought us wonderfully tasty food, I had Pannfisch (very very good), my boyfriend had the asparagus (also cooked en point!), it is cozy and the long history of the hospital is impressive.... yes, it was nice that we found this restaurant and if we are ever in Lübeck again we will definitely come back.

Despite being very busy, they managed to accommodate our group of eight women. Our waitresses, M&M, made our evening a truly memorable one. They were wonderful women with a lot of humor and enthusiasm! The food arrived quickly and was delicious. Kudos to all the staff. We felt very comfortable!

The restaurant is well located and impresses with its unique ambiance, combining retro charm and a brewery look in a medieval cellar, directly beneath the Holy Spirit Hospital. The service was good, nothing to complain about. However, the main reason for the visit, the food, was unfortunately only mediocre. The fried potatoes were oily and not crispy at all, and the bacon was inedible and slender in places. In other words, it was barely cooked. The fried fish in its own batter, on the other hand, was very good and saved the meal. Considering the name, we still found the food overall only average; the potato side dishes should have been much better.

Charming and historic surroundings where tasty original German dishes are served at reasonable prices. Here I can recommend the Wienerschnitzel which was just as it should be and accompanied by a cold draft beer 🍺

Lübecker Kartoffelkeller is truly a little gem! The restaurant, located in a cozy basement, offers a very special atmosphere. Despite the lively atmosphere, the noise level is pleasant and allows for normal conversation at the table. The food is nothing short of delicious, and their famous mashed potatoes with chicken fillet is truly a highlight – a taste experience beyond the ordinary! Finally, the pleasant and helpful staff contribute to a very positive overall experience. A highly recommended visit!

Unfortunately, it was not possible to serve a larger group at the same time as possible. The first ones were already finished while the rest were still waiting for their orders.

This restaurant has a very cozy atmosphere and delicious food. The staff is friendly. I ordered the "Kartoffelkeller's fillet pan" and a friend of mine ordered "5 fresh potato pancakes". The food was very well prepared and beautifully presented. There is also vegetarian and vegan food. We were very satisfied with this restaurant.
