Update November 14, 2025
Even after so many years, we still enjoy going to Riva regularly. They're always coming up with something new. In addition to the standard menu, they now also have a weekly menu with really cool, varied, and even unusual dishes. They're always evolving. We appreciate the friendly service, the attentive staff, and of course, the food. Small events, like Ladies' Night, also make the restaurant special. Here's a glimpse of the dishes on the weekly menu—pictures speak louder than words.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We love eating at Riva and do it often. For us, the restaurant definitely deserves more than 5 stars. You consistently get good food, from salads and pizzas to burgers and desserts. My favorites are the burger and the vitello tonnato pizza. But it's not just the food that's fantastic; the staff is always friendly and eager to fulfill every guest's wishes. The owner(s) are always cheerful, friendly, and welcoming, and every guest is important to them. They all pitch in, whether serving, working in the kitchen, or behind the bar. At Riva, everyone works together, and you can feel it in the service. In the summer, the terrace is perfect for relaxing evenings. We love coming here and will definitely continue to dine at Riva. Whether it's just the two of us or with friends, it's simply worth it.
We sat down close to closing time and almost immediately saw three mice running around. Ive never seen something like this in my life. I saw that someone posted about mice in the neighboring restaurant, Bacio, recently as well. I do not recommend anyone eat at this location!
Good location in downtown Passau – for the price, the food is rather mid-range (we had Petrifisch). Very friendly service, but also very annoying and too loud music. There are other options in Passau at a higher price.
Alicia and her team conjure up culinary delights in the kitchen, and her service team creates a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much! 😊 A real insider tip in Unterwössen!
Dear friends, here you'll experience a true love for cooking, outstanding culinary skills, extraordinary creations, locally sourced products, incredible meat quality, and a genuine love for guests. What you definitely won't find here is convenience food or mass-market fare. That this might cost a couple of euros more is simply a fact of life. If you're looking for cheap food, this isn't the place; it's about food quality and the taste experience. I give it 100 out of 100 points and a clear recommendation! To the fantastic team: You'll have to put up with us again soon...😅
Overall, a delicious Franconian restaurant. The menu offered everything a Franconian heart could desire. The food was well-seasoned, although we felt the portions could have been a bit larger for the price, but that probably depends on how hungry you are.
Yesterday, I had lunch at Johanns with two friends. We ordered from the à la carte menu and requested wine pairings. The food, as my friends remarked, was an absolute culinary delight. This was surpassed, however, by the excellent wine selection, perfectly matched to each course. Even those who consider themselves quite knowledgeable about wine were pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed each and every one. A big compliment to the service as well. The relaxed and unhurried pace of the meal was just right. We will gladly return.
