I would have liked to report on a culinary experience at this point. Instead, my visit to the JAE in Düsseldorf left a bitter aftertaste - and not because of the food or drinks, but because of the deeply unpleasant treatment of guests, which was disturbing on several levels. After a relaxing evening with friends - including lawyers, entrepreneurs and executives - we were looking for a stylish location for a last drink. JAE seemed to fit the bill with its high-quality furnishings and well-curated drinks menu. What followed was all the more irritating. After entering the restaurant we were told in a very clearly negative tone that there was no wine. This happened while we were surrounded by wine and champagne bottles visibly displayed - an absurd claim that no one can seriously believe. The message was clear: our presence was unwelcome. Why? Because we didn't show up in expensive suits? Because we weren’t part of the “regular audience”? Because – despite our polite demeanor – they didn’t trust us to fit into the picture? The attempt to subtly but clearly force us out of the restaurant was as obvious as it was shameful. Hospitality? None. The fact that such behavior is tolerated – or worse, practiced – in a restaurant that sees itself as ambitious raises fundamental questions. About values. About attitude. About authenticity. And about the criteria by which people apparently hope to secure the favor of certain restaurant guides. Because one thing is clear: consistent discrimination based on appearance or supposed affiliation is not something that can be reconciled with the principles of the Michelin Guide or other renowned rating institutions. This isn't about choosing clothes. It's about attitude. And it was – with all due respect – underground. I have eaten in many countries around the world, in star restaurants and small family businesses. However, I have never been treated so subtly, like a second-class guest. One thing is clear to me: anyone who makes guests feel unwanted - for purely superficial reasons - has no place in fine dining.

Very nice atmosphere, outstanding service and incredibly delicious food! Every course was excellent, chef Felix Weber, who took time for each guest, was very nice and sommelier Christian Pufahl was super personable. Thanks to him we learned about some great new wines. It was also great that you could watch the chefs prepare the food. We were definitely not there for the last time!

I'll start with a WOW. We only discovered the restaurant because we booked the Parkhotel as a little break. A very young team, always trying hard, friendly, courteous, warm and simply inspiring. After some experiences in 1*e and 2*e restaurants, all we can say is... we wish Lukas Hoffmann and his team that he gets at least one soon. This variety of flavors, the loving visual creation of the dishes and the seasonality and regionality leave nothing to be desired. A very special thank you goes to the Junior Sommelièr Franziska Prenzel, who was a "wish fulfiller" before making the reservation and accompanied us individually throughout the evening. Thanks to the whole team, good luck to all employees for their future professional careers. We were, are and will remain enthusiastic. WE WILL COME BACK. Best regards from the Bergisches Land.

I highly recommend this restaurant. The food is a real taste sensation. The service was very friendly and relaxed for a Michelin-starred restaurant. The ambiance was perfect. We visited it last year as our first Michelin-starred restaurant, and despite some initial excitement, it felt very relaxed and easygoing. Thank you!

This is meant to be a Micheln star resultant I spent 720 euro for two people Food was beautifully presented but ok But for me I found it insulting wjenbstag where wearing running shoes and asked me to pass the plates back to me. I asked to speak to manger and he he said he was ok with both. Irked didn’t even pretend to say I’m sorry for your experience etc this is how we role in Germany

I was here last night with two friends and we really ate a lot - starter, main course and dessert. Surprisingly, we got the starter on the house, which was a really nice gesture! The service was friendly and attentive, and the entire restaurant is beautifully decorated. The food tasted very good. A really great place for special occasions!

Kettners Kamota in Essen is a jewel: a place to linger, characterized by warm hospitality and the highest culinary class. The landlord impresses with genuine sympathy, the food is top-class cuisine, and the selection of drinks is perfect. A place that you have to experience – absolute recommendation!
