An incredibly tasty, versatile but also sophisticated menu with at least 16 different proteins (I could count) and individual courses that I will remember for a lifetime. The sea urchin ice cream, the porcini mushroom with chocolate sauce or the carabinero, to name just a few, were really great. The service is excellent and yet surprising, with a relaxed Rhenish joie de vivre and a wink to the main course, would you like a little extra Wagyu? The wine recommendations go perfectly with the food. The house is one of the really big ones in Germany. It doesn't matter whether there are two or three Michelin stars here. A unique experience in a beautiful hotel just outside Cologne that I can fully recommend. I'll be back.

Learn from the thoughtful three-star chef and family man Joachim Wissler: “My credo includes: curiosity, creative restlessness and self-reflection.” That’s right! The result was once again a top-class menu, just like it was at our wedding in Vendôme a few years ago. Blue lobster, dipped scallop and sea urchin, Burgaud Vendée duck, cocoa bean ice cream… Excellent corresponding wines. A poem with unforgettable moments.

Sometimes there are evenings that go far beyond what you might expect - a culinary masterpiece that enchants all the senses and remains in your memory forever. We were able to enjoy exactly such an experience in Vendome. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by an atmosphere that perfectly combined elegance and warmth. The hosts radiated a professionalism that continued throughout the evening: attentive but unobtrusive, warm but never exaggerated. Every wish was virtually read from our eyes - a service that sets standards. But the real highlight of this evening was of course the menu. Each course was a work of art that not only impressed on the plate, but also on the tongue. Every bite is a taste explosion, perfectly balanced, composed with sophisticated aromas and beautifully, lovingly prepared. Each course was presented in an entertaining and appealing way. However, we were particularly impressed - as an intermediate course - by the vegetarian ravioli, whose texture and taste developed an unexpected, almost magical harmony. Fantastic! The wine accompaniment? A poem. Each drop enhanced the flavors of the food in a way that delighted us. The sommelièr masterfully knew how to take the culinary experience to an even higher level with his recommendations. At the end there was a feeling of deep satisfaction - not only because of the exceptional cuisine, but also because of the perfection in every detail. The Vendome is not just a restaurant, but a stage for unforgettable moments. A place where enjoyment and hospitality merge into an art form. An evening that we will repeat with great pleasure. For the sake of good form, an addition: we see the castle hotel as an "accessory" - unfortunately this falls far short of the restaurant. Thanks for the masterpieces and the whole team!

Unfortunately there is no vegan dish on the current menu. Why don't you dare to try something outside your comfort zone? Maybe you use Veganuary, as a chef you should be able to eat vegetables as well as animal brains. I am happy about this development and will continue to keep an eye on it.

An evening at Vendôme is a real experience! From the first moment you feel completely pampered - the service is attentive, warm and always there without being intrusive. The menu was of the highest standard: every dish was a little work of art, perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. What you are offered here is edible art! Still unique, even if the Michelin Guide only gave Mr. Wissler 2 stars instead of 3. I have been eating regularly in star restaurants since I was 8 years old and have worked in a 3-star restaurant myself. Nothing compares to the Vendome. Even the now more casual service. The gray sweatpants are worn with the matching Jankerl, but above all there is a lot of talk about the wine and why it goes so well with this dish. An entertaining evening. 4 hours fly by.

My visit to Vendome felt very much like a cozy evening at a good friend’s house combined with fairly conservative but exceptionally tasteful food and incredible quality of ingredients. I especially enjoyed the home-made vermouth and other drink components.

We had a wonderful time at restaurant vendome. The food was tasty, the wine was excellent, and the atmosphere enjoyable. Unfortunately, I awoke with food poisoning several hours after the dinner which persisted for several days. Due to this I cannot give more than 2 stars.

We have dined at the Vendome recently. It was a venue we were very curious to visit. We have visited quite a few michelin restaurants. The surroundings are truly beautiful and the seating was comfortable. We were a bit surprised because after the first amuses it took a stunning 45 minutes before the first course was served. For a restaurant of this caliber quite strange and simply way too long. The pace was picked up, but it seemed the kitchen was struggling to get the plates out in the beginning. The food was truly spectacular and among the most refined we have tasted before. Plate presentation was excuisite, and some dishes were truly memorable. We also had a non alcoholic pairing which was very interesting and well done. We arrived at 19.00 and left at around 23.30 . The bill was quite hefty, around 1000 euros for 2 persons which is more en par with a 3 star restaurant, but the culinary experience was memorable.

Food was great! Great quality, beautifully prepared and a taste experience! Very good selection of non-alcoholic drinks to match the dishes! I would come back for the food at any time! However, I was very disappointed with the first impression. We were treated like second class guests! Other guests were brought to the table first, even though we got to the receptionist first and already had our jackets in our hands. Unfortunately an absolute no-go for a 2 star restaurant!!!

Truly a very good restaurant, worth its current three Michelin stars for sure and therefor also the trip, especially for those who enjoy an experimental cuisine. Only the dessert was less satisfying: the coconut sorbet, in disguise of a baby banana (visually stunning as most of the platters here!) , lacked smoothness and the side dish was rather bland and contained no sugar at all. Same small issue with the ice-cream lollypops: too many ice-crystals instead of silkiness. Star of the menu: grilled Farör Island langoustine and the veal brain piccata with utterly fragrant white strawberry's (how original to integrate such an unusual dish as offal into a set menu, I was pleasantly surprised!) Wine arrangement top notch. Service very good but lacks elegance. Nice experience overall nevertheless, although the style of the top chef is a bit too inventive for my personal taste. My personal ratings of this specific menu: escargots on cracker 20/20, Spanish Tuna sashimi 16/20, Tofi-Vees 20/20; langoustine and Tom Yam soup (19.5/20), Sole Colbert with pigs snout (genius!) (dish served too cold, 18.5/20) Red Mullet (18.5/20), Veal brain, black truffle and strawberries 19/20, Guinea Fowl breaded dim sum 15/20, the bird's breast with Madras curry, 17/20, coconut sorbet 16/20, mignardises 17/20, wine assortment: 19.5/20. Overall experience: 18.5/20.

Really great food and presentation paired with great wines and nice atmosphere. However the dinner was way too long with long wait times of 30-50 minutes between courses. Over 4 hours for a meal and even after we asked them to speed things up it still took almost a hour to get the some of the courses. Other tables that arrived hour or more after us finished before us which is not how a highly rated restaurant should be run.

Das Essen war wunderbar, wir hatten einmal das Fleisch- und einmal das vegetarische Menü. Als ich peinlicherweise ein Glas Wein umgestossen habe war die Reaktion des Service absolut professionell und gut - sie haben es geschafft, dass es kaum unangenehm war. Das einzige, was zu wünschen übrig liess: Der Sommelier. Als wir ihm mitteilten, dass wir keine Weinbegleitung wünschen, liess der Service danach zu wünschen übrig. Er kam kaum mehr zu uns an den Tisch, obwohl wir gerne einzelne Gläser gewählt hätten - wirklich schade. Ansonsten: Top!

This place blew my mind from start to finish. I was a little intimidated as this was my first two star Michelin restaurant. It was worth it and the staff made us feel warm and welcomed. The menu was nothing short of an interpersonal journey. Each dish held its own distinct and unique texture and flavor, making it a true culinary adventure. The pairing options were also outstanding, complementing the food perfectly. The setting of the restaurant is also stunning and I can't wait to return and explore more of their culinary creations in the German countryside.

Anlässlich unseres Hochzeitstages haben wir das Restaurant Vendôme besucht und wurde im Schloss Bensberg beherbergt. Es war ein besonderes Erlebnis. Man wird hier kulinarisch auf Weltklasse Niveau verwöhnt. Das Sommermenü von Herrn Wissler sucht seines gleichen und wird perfekt von der ausgesuchten Weinbegleitung umschmeichelt. Zielsicher nach wenigen Fragen, hat der Restaurantleiter und spitzen Sommelier, Herr Strahl, den Weingeschmack meiner Gattin getroffen. Der perfekte Service ist, steht´s aufmerksam und trifft sicher die Balance, um nicht aufdringlich zu wirken. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Ein Fine Dining Restaurant, was den dritten Michelin Stern wieder bekommen sollte. Vom Empfang, über das außerordentlich gute Essen bis zum Sommelier und dem zurückhaltend edelen Interieur stimmte alles bei unserem letzten Besuch im Vendome. Der Kaisergranat war ein Traum, mutig mit etwas Schärfe kombiniert. Produkte, Geschmack, Handwerk und Service laufen perfekt zusammen.

Leider hat der Koch sich von seinem vorherigen Konzept verabschiedet, nämlich lokale Küche auf 3 Sterne Niveau zuzubereiten. Jetzt ist es international aber dadurch auch Mainstream. Der Service war überfordert, wir baten darum, keine Rieslingweine in der Weinbegleitung zu erhalten, das wurde zweimal ignoriert. Die Weine der Weinbegleitung waren grenzwertig, 15 Jahre alte deutsche Weiss- und Rotweine sind wirklich nicht Jedermanns Sache. Benutze Weingläser bleiben halbleer auf dem Tisch stehen usw. Also Höhen und Tiefen, aber wird dem eigenen ambitionierten Anspruch nicht gerecht.

Viele kleine leckere Grüße aus der Küche, die einzelnen Gänge des Menüs wurden mit Wein- oder Saftbegleitung angeboten. Jeder Gang ein optischer sowie Gaumengenuss. Der Service ließ keinen Wunsch offen. In diesem Ambiente zu Speisen rundete den schönen Abend hervorragend ab. Wir übernachteten vor Ort im Schlosshotel.

We had a great time at Vendôme the food was delicious. The first highlight was the toffivee, like a toffifee but made with liver. It could be my new favourite thing. Later on a venison dish was exceptional and included venison liver which was far superior to any non duck or goose liver I've ever had. They know what they're doing with liver obviously! If that puts you off then my reviews probably aren't for you. My wife's highlight, a pike perch dish used turmeric with real mastery. Virtually every course was spot on and I was blown away, my wife was a little more critical but that was probably down to some courses featuring her less favoured ingredients. The only criticism would be for the langostine carpaccio, although I thought it was a really tasty dish, with well balanced flavours, my wife wasn't a fan and we both thought the langostine was lost a bit. The dessert and petit fours were great especially the magnum and snickers. The wine / beer matching was great with some standouts including the beer. I was a bit wary of sherry matched with chocolate because I've had too much PX paired in the past but this time it was moscatel and thus less cloying. All in all outstanding.

I don't understand the hype about this hotel! Yes, the castle is breathtaking! It's now my 5th or 6th stay and the rooms are getting more and more expensive and smaller! 240 EUR a night for a mini room with a hatch from the window…. (Booked standard room, got size single room with double bed) No daylight! Unfortunately, the spa is also getting old and rather dingy. Only the breakfast can convince. Coffee, on the other hand, is absolutely undrinkable. Too bad! If I didn't have to, I would avoid this hotel.
