This has to be one of the best German restaurants all around. Every dish was packed with flavour, starting with the soup, then the main dish and ending with dessert. Even the way they cooked a simple potato was exquisite! Highly recommend. The only thing is that the service was slow, but we were a huge group (~50 people) so I think that was the reason.

Delicious home-style cuisine, calm service! I felt very comfortable. Gladly again!

Nice little pub, great service, good beer

Went there spontaneously and were lucky to get a table. The aperitif, the starter and the main course were a poem. Unfortunately, the dessert no longer fit in my stomach. 😅 We'll definitely be back!

German cuisine by definition. It's good, it's simple. Relaxed atmosphere, several people who don't know each other at the same table. Efficient and friendly.

Nice little cozy beer garden. Beer and food arrived in no time.

Unfortunately a disappointment. Poorly cooked and unfriendly service. You don't have to be a gourmet and you don't have to expect miracles in a pub to be horrified by overcooked food that was served carelessly. Spaetzle as soft as porridge. Ingredients for the canned Salta. And a ready-made sauce for the meat. The highlight was the hard stalk of a cauliflower, without florets, as a side dish. Everyone cooks better in private!

There were four of us for dinner. The restaurant was busy, so it was relatively loud. The waiters, there were two, were very friendly, although one of them didn't smile. I took an Augustinian plate. It was very good except for one type of meat. Unfortunately it was very stringy and you could hardly get through it with a knife. The waffle was excellent, with a light almond flavor. Really good. Basically you can eat well there. Maybe I was just unlucky with that one piece. If one waiter would smile a little more than the other, then it would be 5 stars.

Terrible! Waited 1 hour for simple food. (Jägerschnitzel with spaetzle and pork steak with fries. Guests arrived at the table next to us after us, but had already finished eating and paying before our food came. The pork steak also came wrong (as a breaded schnitzel). Another 10 minutes. Wait...! There was no apology or any explanation from the waitress. Only the question "Did it taste good?" You couldn't tell the guest more clearly that you had no interest in him. No, after this bankruptcy no food tastes good anymore because you just want to finish eating quickly, pay and leave. And you wonder whether the operators shouldn't do something that has nothing to do with gastronomy! Really a shame and so very disappointing to have to experience something like that. I'm so glad you don't have to experience this too often. Oh - on the menu, you should carefully mark the food and ingredients for the allergens they contain. For example, breadcrumbs, spaetzle, etc. are not marked as “contains wheat”. This could end badly... Not for us, as we definitely won't be coming back! Unfortunately you have to give at least one star...

Great ambience in a beautiful location in Freiburg's old town. The service at the beginning of our meal was very friendly and attentive. There was nothing to complain about about the dishes themselves - they were consistently delicious. Unfortunately, we weren't noticed after that, so we sat with empty plates and glasses for 40 minutes and would have liked to have had something to drink and eat. There really wasn't anyone around anymore. Instead, we ultimately paid in disappointment and therefore unfortunately do not recommend the sickle forge.

Unfortunately not as good as before. The menu was significantly shortened and the food itself was not good at all. One schnitzel was partially burnt, the other two schnitzels were soggy and the tarte flambée tasted like plastic. It's a real shame because the store used to be quite good.

Great location with breathtaking views and a luxurious menu. Unfortunately, despite special dishes on the menu, there was hardly any choice of drinks and mediocre service - a bit disappointing for the price. Nevertheless, the visit is worth it, the view is really awesome!

A super nice restaurant with an excellent ambience. The quality of the food is very good and the portions are quite large. The young and open-minded service team is very polite and helpful. We didn't have to wait long until we were served and our food was ready to eat. Our good experience here justified the impressive prices. Overall, I can definitely recommend the Lago. Very pleasant staff, very clean with a view of the cathedral. Favorite for the breaded slice and the cordon bleu. Address to try when visiting Freiburg
