Gasthaus zum Rauhen Mann in Freiburg im Breisgau

Gute und gemütliche Lage mitten in Freiburg an einer Brücke. Gute Auswahl an vegetarischen Speisen, andere natürlich auch. Zu uns war das Personal ganz nett, allerdings wurden andere Personen teils an kleinere Tische geschickt, was nicht immer so freundlich kommuniziert wurde. Es wirkte alles etwas chaotisch, als würde man die Tische gerne für größere Gruppen freihalten wollen, aber das wurde immer erst gesagt, als die Leute schon saßen. Das Essen war ok, nicht überragend, aber auch nicht schlecht. Was mich jedoch jetzt stutzig macht, sind die vielen gelöschten Bewertungen hier bei Google. Bis zu 150 in einem Jahr ist schon sehr viel. Mal schauen, ob meine bleibt. ;)

Wir waren begeistert! Das Essen war hervorragend. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Mit drei Kindern sind Sie hier nicht willkommen. Sie dürfen jedoch auf einem Plastikgartenstuhl in einem ungemütlichen, engen Innenhof hinter dem Restaurant Platz nehmen. Das haben wir nicht getan.

Aufgrund der sehr positiven Bewertungen wollte ich mit meiner Familie beim Gasthaus zum Rauhen Mann essen gehen. Leider war die Bedienung so unfreundlich, dass wir nicht mal ein Bestellung aufgeben wollten. Beim nächsten Wirtshaus wurden wir dann ein Glück wieder sehr freundlich empfangen. Aufgrund der sehr unangenehmen und völlig unangemessenen Umgangsweise, kann ich es leider niemandem empfehlen.

Sehr nettes Lokal mit sehr freundlichem Service, flott und zuvorkommend. Wir saßen hinten raus auf der Terrasse, Ambiente auch sehr nett. Getränke und Speisen auch solide. Beim Pfännle hätten wir uns persönlich einen etwas größeren Teller gewünscht und nicht alles so gestapelt. Preise schon eher höher.

Das Restaurant bietet sowohl innen als auch außen ein entspannendes und einladendes Ambiente, und vor allem: Das Essen ist köstlich. Die Schwarzwälder Forelle (mit Kartoffeln und Gemüse) kostet nur 24,50 €, was sie wirklich wert ist. Sie ist auch ideal für alle, die auf ihre Figur achten – sehr lecker und gesund! Allein wegen dieses Restaurants würde ich gerne wieder in diese Stadt kommen! Die Kellner waren zudem sehr höflich und zuvorkommend.

Die Soße zu meiner geschmorten Schweinshaxe heute war etwas zu salzig.

Biergarten schön (bissl viel Menschenverkehr, aber ist halt Freiburg). Haxe war Top 👌. Mit Knödeln und Sauerkraut, super lecker.

Die Atmosphäre und die Schönheit an einem sonnigen Tag sind einfach unglaublich. Mittags gibt es freie Plätze. Das Essen ist nicht besonders gut, aber es geht, die Atmosphäre ist etwas schleppend.

Gutes Essen, mieser Service. Der Name des Gasthauses ist Programm. Ich wollte wiederholt bestellen, hat leider nicht funktioniert.

Authentische regionale Küche in klassischen Ambiente.

Perfekt nach einem ganztägigen Stadtbummel, gutes Essen, gutes Servicepersonal, vielen Dank und bis hoffentlich mal wieder.

Uriges badisches Restaurant mit authentischem, leckerem Essen und freundlichem und aufmerksamem Personal. Der Aussenbereich unter den Bäumen ist traumhaft. Preis/Leistung passt ebenfalls. Wir waren mehrmals hier und können das nur empfehlen.

Schrecklicher Service. Wir haben über 20 Minuten gewartet, um zu bestellen, und die Kellnerin hatte bereits drei Tische bedient, die nach uns gekommen waren. Wir sind aufgestanden und in die Brauerei gegenüber gegangen. Die Gäste müssen zumindest bedient werden, wenn man ihr Geld haben will.

Der Service war sehr gut, die Bedienung sehr nett. Die Terrasse ist bei sonnigem Wetter herrlich. Allerdings war das Essen (zwei Gerichte) viel zu salzig und geschmacklos. Nachtrag: Mein Kommentar wurde gelöscht, da die Besitzer anscheinend eine Beschwerde bei Google eingereicht haben. Zum Glück habe ich den Kassenbon als Beweis. Wurden auch andere Kommentare gelöscht?

Das was wir gegessen haben, Spargel, Schnitzel, Kartoffeln und Pommes war ganz okay. Pommes waren vielleicht nen ticken zu lange in der Fritteuse aber noch essbar. Service war nett und flott. Ambiente urig. Für ein Mittagessen kann man jedenfalls nix verkehrt machen. Würde wieder hingehen.

Absolut empfehlenswert. Am Bächle. Süßer Innenhof.

Uriges Lokal mit sehr guten Haxen.

Schon von außen macht das Gasthaus, das in einem der ältesten Viertel der Stadt liegt, einen gepflegten Eindruck. Auch wenn das Interieur in der Zeit vor 30 Jahren stehen geblieben ist, strahlt es eine gewisse Gemütlichkeit aus. Hier wird eine klassische, gut bürgerliche, badische Küche geboten. Schöne Tagesempfehlungen wie Leberle, Ochsenbrust, Kalbsbeinscheiben, findet man auch nicht mehr so oft. Da wir sehr spät erst gefrühstückt hatten entschieden wir uns als „Unterlage“ zum hervorragenden Badischen Wein, für ein paar leckere und vor allem hausgemachte Flammkuchen. Der angenehm freundliche, weibliche Service mit kroatischen Wurzeln, hat uns perfekt bedient. Im Sommer- wenn wir wieder kommen- freuen wir uns auf die schöne Terrasse Terrasse, sowohl vor wie auch hinter dem Gasthaus.

Sehr sympathische Gaststätte mit leckerem Essen und super Personal!!!! Ich habe gestern zu viel bezahlt und es nicht bemerkt. Die Mitarbeiterin machte uns über die Bestellung ausfindig und brachte uns das zuviel bezahlte Geld. Sowas habe ich noch nie erlebt . Nochmals vielen Dank!!!!!

Ich bestellte hier eine Schweinshaxe. Schon der erste Bissen war extrem zäh, was mir schon etwas verdächtig vorkam. Nach der Hälfte des Gerichts entdeckte ich den Grund: Das Fleisch direkt am Knochen war noch roh. Natürlich hörte ich auf zu essen und rief die Bedienung. Mir wurde gesagt, rohes Schweinefleisch sei „normal“. Anscheinend gehört halbgares Schweinefleisch hier einfach dazu. Als Lösung bot man mir eine Tasse Kaffee an. Ich bin mir immer noch nicht sicher, ob die Idee war, dass der Kaffee das Fleisch irgendwie nachträglich gart oder mir einfach nur helfen sollte, zu vergessen, was ich gerade gegessen hatte. Ich bat um einen Rabatt und bezahlte dann den Salat und das Sauerkraut, die zusammen mit der Schweinshaxe auf der Speisekarte standen. Das andere Gericht war übrigens ziemlich versalzen. Eine wirklich schlechte Erfahrung.

Wir sind zufällig auf dieses Wirtshaus gestossen weil wir Lust auf gutbürgerliche deutsche Küche hatten😊 und wurden nicht enttäuscht! Der Service war top und äusserst zuvorkommend. Die Speisekarte ist so umfangreich, dass uns die Auswahl wirklich schwerfiel… Wir hatten den Sauerbraten mit Spätzle und das panierte Schnitzel mit Pommes, beides sehr lecker! Schade nur dass es zum Schnitzel keine Sauce gab😕 Das Ambiente im Innenbereich ist sehr gemütlich. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!☺️

Ich habe im Gasthaus zum Rauhen Mann gegessen und muss sagen, es war ein sehr positives Erlebnis. Die Atmosphäre ist warm und einladend: Das Restaurant ist in kleine, liebevoll gestaltete Räume unterteilt, deren sanfte Beleuchtung eine besonders angenehme und intime Atmosphäre schafft. Der Service war ausgezeichnet, aufmerksam und freundlich, und wir haben unser Essen sehr genossen. Ich kann dieses Restaurant für einen schönen Abend in einem charmanten Ambiente wärmstens empfehlen.

Gute badische Küche, netter Service.

Freundlicher Empfang und Service. Unser Tisch war etwas eng, aber noch akzeptabel. Die Gerichte sind zwar nicht die leichtesten oder raffiniertesten (Schweineschaxe, Schäfele, Käsespätzle, Sauerbraten), aber herzhaft und sehr gut – manchmal sogar anders als erwartet. Gute Auswahl an deutschen Weinen, gut gezapft, leckere lokale Biere und keine Beanstandungen an der Rechnung, die absolut angemessen war.

Tolles Lokal! Karte sehr gut aufgestellt mit den klassischen badischen Speisen. Portionen reichlich, alles frisch zubereitet. Service sehr schnell und freundlich. Tolles, uriges Ambiente. Preise für mich, für die Lage in Ordnung. Gerne wieder!

Innen ist es sehr ruhig und schön. Das Essen ist sehr gut. Typisch deutsche Küche.

Der Service war top, freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir haben uns hier wohlgefühlt. Das Ambiente ist urig und gemütlich eingerichtet. Gute Regional Küche und Auswahl. Das Essen was wir hatten war gut, etwas Luft nach oben ist noch möglich. Ich hatte einen Sauerbraten mit Spätzle und Beilagensalat. Das Fleisch vom Sauerbraten war schön zart, weich und geschmacklich gut, für mich hättest ruhig etwas säulicher sein können. Die Soße war gut, aber auch hier hätte etwas mehr Pepp sein können (ein Touch "sauer"). Die Spätzle waren frisch geschabt, doch es uns an Salz und Muskat gefehlt und sie waren wässrig. Der Beilagensalat war frisch und gut. Preisleistungsverhältnis in Ordnung.

Wir hatten ein wunderbares Mittagessen im Rahuen Mann in Freiburg! Die Atmosphäre war sehr angenehm, die Bedienung freundlich und das Essen einfach köstlich. Alles war dem Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis absolut angemessen. Sehr empfehlenswert!

The food was awful. The same ready-made sauce was used on two different dishes, the sauerbraten was dry, and the spaetzle were oversalted. I complained, and the second time, there was no salt at all. The salad was tasty, unfortunately the only good thing... Was the chef already on Christmas vacation? I would definitely not visit this restaurant again.

Everything went wrong that could get wrong except for the Beer. Meat (from the Game Menu/Wildkarte) was unusually tough, Spätzle were a disgrace (I hate strong words), Kroketten tasted of old fat. Service personel was understanding and heard our complains. I wonder who was the Chef.

We entered to ask for a table and were immediately met with an incredibly rude waiter. When we tried to ask about reserving for later, his demeanor became even worse. He curtly stated they were "fully booked" and gave us zero options (no waiting list, no reservation for another time). The most disappointing part was the treatment. It felt clearly as though, being foreign tourists, he simply didn't want to serve us and wanted us gone. Unprofessional and dismissive. I don’t recommend this place.

We were unable to keep our reservation time and informed the restaurant. The response was very unfriendly, and they refused to hold the table for us for 30 minutes. We then arrived without a reservation and had to wait approximately 20 minutes.

A rustic restaurant serving regional cuisine. We received a warm welcome. The atmosphere is charmingly rustic, and the food was delicious. The service was attentive, and special requests were accommodated. The price was reasonable.

Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. From the moment we arrived, we were treated unfriendly – ​​the staff member barely acknowledged us and made us feel unwelcome. While we were about to order, he rudely told us to be quiet, even though our children had only had a brief and completely harmless argument. Overall, the atmosphere was very unpleasant, and we didn't feel welcome. It's a shame, because we were looking forward to a nice family meal at the restaurant. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this place.

We had an absolutely lovely evening here last night. We were wandering around looking for a nice place for dinner and luckily came across Gasthaus zum Rauhen Mann. We’d been in a couple of places that were a bit loud and decided to look for somewhere a bit more quiet but also authentic, and Rauhen Mann was perfect. The staff were extremely friendly and the food was delicious. I particularly appreciated the fact that we tried to utilise our limited German when ordering, just to try to demonstrate some willing and make an effort, and the waiters respected our efforts and engaged with us very patiently in German too, despite me having to ask for an English translation at one point during the conversation. It was just very friendly, respectful, accommodating and much appreciated. And like I say, the atmosphere was just lovely. It was busy but not loud or overwhelming, and just felt very friendly and warm. And we both very much enjoyed the food. I will certainly be returning the next time I have the pleasure of visiting Freiburg again.

While the portion is smaller than other German pork knuckles I've had, it's still very filling. Taste-wise, it's definitely in the top five German pork knuckles I've ever had (and I've had them in at least 40-50 different places)! 👍🏻 The atmosphere is truly German, and the staff are incredibly friendly.

Like being at your grandma's house on Christmas Eve. There was just a lovely atmosphere and vibe. The smell of the food was just like waiting for Christmas dinner at grandma's house.

Pre-ordered, had a delicious meal, happy... On the advice of other guests, we made a reservation in the afternoon (which made sense). We were warmly welcomed and served. The food was rustic, traditional, and delicious—just as we had hoped. Highly recommended. We'll be back!

The mushrooms were very well cooked, and the meat was well cooked. The waiters only spoke German; we had one server who spoke English, but none spoke French. It's a shame the plates weren't heated, as the mushrooms and even the meat get cold quickly.

Beautiful location, a mix of locals and tourists. The food was almost always good. We had a pork knee with extra scallops. The meat was still cold, and the staff didn't do anything with it.

I haven't been treated so disparagingly and unfriendly in a long time. I asked for something small to go with my meal, like a cheese platter. The answer was no. I have something similar. The answer was: No. Do you have a cocktail? No. The other waitress unfortunately didn't serve us, but she was very friendly and nice to her guests. That's the only reason I'm giving it two stars.

Thin slices of leg of lamb with a far too sweet sauerbraten sauce (a strange combination that completely drowned out the lamb flavor). A gourmet pan with three dry pieces of meat. Not recommended as a restaurant.

The food was really bad; the rump steak was raw inside, and no one asked how you'd like it cooked. The tarte flambée had no flavor. The service seemed unfriendly and unmotivated.

Potato salad from the supermarket is better. Fries were lukewarm and not crispy. Maultaschen were only briefly dipped in the obviously unsalted water.

I ordered a pork knuckle with dumplings. The dumplings were cold. I complained, the pork knuckle was returned with the dumplings and reheated. The food came back, the dumplings were still cold. I complained again. The plate was taken away and reheated. The dumplings were hot and the knuckle was disgustingly dry 🤮 And that for a good price, I'll go to the grill cart next time. And as an apology, next time it will be better.

Very disappointed, passing through the area we decided to refresh ourselves in this super little place very pretty. However, the place does not do everything. The wait to take the order is terribly long, moreover the waitress who is very haughty, and not at all welcoming, it is almost as if we disturb her. When the time came to pay our bill was 14€80, we told her that we wish to pay by credit card but she told us that it is minimum 15€. So either we take something back or it is cash. Explaining to her that we did not have cash on us, we asked her if exceptionally for 20 cents we could pay by card. She leaves and comes back telling us that her manager is not happy so she hands us the EFT with 15€ already written on it to make us pay (by force) an amount that is not the amount of our order. This practice is completely illegal, Germany or not! Very disappointed

Where to begin? The welcome was long. But the place was very nice and the service was fast. The drinks were also good. However, the service was horrid. The waitress was haughty and contemptuous. When it came time to pay, we asked to pay by card. She said, "Okay, but the card starts at €15 and you'll pay €14.80." We asked her if, exceptionally, it wasn't possible. Because we didn't have cash, and for 20 cents... she told us she'd check with her manager. When we came back with the EFT, it said €15, and she told us, "My manager isn't happy. Either pay you €15 (instead of €14.80) by card or it's cash." Germany or no Germany, this is an illegal practice. Taking advantage of tourists is wrong... I recommend it if you're paying more than €15 and if you don't have to deal with the same waitress.

Location, service, food, simply fantastic!

The place is nice, but that's about it. I was not impressed with the food at all, and the woman who served us could use a lesson in service. It all goes at the speed of a turtle with rheumatism. The coffee was not good.

Variety of food options and .ain dishes is a big portions with side salads. The views and seating were wonderful that i would come back for.

The first beef soup in a long time that actually saw meat. Excellent. I had the ox breast from the daily special, and it, like the soup, was very good. Excellent value for money. The ambiance outside was very nice. The other dishes we had were also very decent. Truly "good home cooking" at reasonable prices. ... would have liked to try the sauerbraten as well 🙋‍♂️

There were four of us in this quaint restaurant. We had lamb, sauerbraten, celery schnitzel and Maultaschen. Everything tasted delicious and came quite quickly. Even the ice cream with cream tasted very good and fresh and not like it was packaged. The staff was very friendly and competent.

The food was really bad for an expensive price. They served frozen vegetables and when we complained they didn’t really seem to care.

The atmosphere outside is great. The service staff seemed a little distant, but there was still a lot to do. The food was good. Starter and then ate asparagus and some meat. It was delicious, tender and beautifully prepared. Since I don't like taking photos, there aren't any. There isn't much more to say about it. Try it out there.

0 stars – scandalous service, absolutely not recommended! The name of the shop is Zum Rauhen Mann, “To the Rauhen Ton” would be a better fit… I've rarely left a restaurant as upset as I was here. There were six of us and there were a lot of tables available - so we thought it wouldn't be a problem to put a few together. But as soon as we entered, we were very rudely informed by an employee that absolutely no tables were allowed to be put together. When I asked why, all I got was a tired shrug of the shoulders - no explanation, no understanding, just pure rudeness. Then, suddenly, the same employee came up to us and offered us a seat at a table for four – with two additional chairs. Not ideal, but we were grateful that there was at least some movement and accepted the offer. We thought: It's working now. But far from it! As soon as we sat down and wanted to order, another employee came along - and what followed was an absolute disgrace. He treated us completely disrespectfully, literally hissing at us that this seating arrangement wouldn't work at all. He didn't have an explanation either, instead there were just rude comments and a tone that you might otherwise expect on the football field, but certainly not in the restaurant industry. This is no way to treat guests! Especially not if they are friendly and willing to compromise. This employee's behavior was not only inappropriate, it was downright shameful. One thing is clear to me: not a cent will be spent here anymore. Anyone who values ​​hospitality, service or even a touch of politeness should give this place a wide berth. Scandalous – there’s no other way to call it.

I have never experienced such bad service. There were 6 of us and the service staff were unable to offer us a table. There were many tables available, but according to the service staff it was not possible to put tables together. An employee finally made a little effort and offered us a table where we had enough space with one more chair. Less than 5 minutes later, her extremely unfriendly colleague came over and said that it couldn't be done that way and that we had to get up. In the end, I'm glad we didn't spend any money there. The way we were spoken to and treated there was really underground!

Yesterday early in the evening we had dinner at 'Zum rauhen Mann' in Freiburg/Breisgau. It started with the fact that the chair that my husband had moved to the right of me to get a better view had to be put back as it was before, otherwise he, the waiter, wouldn't be able to get through with two plates. My later observation was that it was probably intended to make it more difficult to get through to the neighboring restaurant, because it was full, which we unfortunately noticed too late. A table in the sun became available and we changed. For once, I craved half a chicken with fries and salad. It happens once a year. The chicken was so dry because it had been cooked for far too long and was probably heated up in the microwave last but not least to get it warm again. The fries were bland and lukewarm, the salad had too much sauce. When I asked whether the waiter's question was okay and I said no, I only received a lame, incomprehensible answer. My husband's meal, two sausages with fried potatoes and salad, was ok, but nothing more. So a real disappointment.

Rauh is true. Communication from the waiter brought us a table further into the Sichelschmiede. We didn't get to eat.

Asparagus soup was lukewarm and thick, no asparagus to be found, schnitzel was good, fries too greasy, salad somewhat salty, the man at the service ran from the outside terrace to the guests inside, the atmosphere of the restaurant was old-fashioned and cozy

Unfortunately disappointing - not a recommendation We sat outside for 45 minutes and in the entire time we were not asked for drinks nor was an order taken. A waiter came by several times and said, “I’ll be right there,” but nothing happened. When we finally spoke to a waiter ourselves, they suddenly said that the kitchen was closing and they were already putting things together. To us, the team seemed overwhelmed and not very service-oriented. It's a shame - that's not how you imagine a visit to a restaurant.

A very old-fashioned inn with simple food. The flowers were already being cleared from the tables at 8:45 p.m. while we were still sitting there.

Small quaint restaurant. On a small island in the middle of Freiburg. Reserving a seat is not unwise. Onion soup was very tasty. Unfortunately, the roast wild boar was not well seasoned. Beer was delicious too.

Highly recommended restaurant! We just ended up here by chance and absolutely loved it! The staff was super friendly and very attentive.

The rough man offers delicious Baden cuisine, which made us feel very comfortable in the cozy atmosphere. Good price/performance ratio and the staff attentive and friendly. Highly recommended, we will definitely come back.
