The view from the terrace over the entire city is absolutely fantastic. It's worth coming for a coffee and a slice of cake just for that.

We didn't try the food or the drinks. We waited forever to order, and then forever to receive what we ordered (cakes, ice cream and drinks, nothing really too elaborated). After about 25 minutes, they told us they had a problem and it would take longer, so we decided to leave. The waiter who took our order seemed to be under the influence. The view and the restaurant are gorgeous, but the service is terrible, and the restaurant wasn't even crowded.

It's absolutely beautiful up there, and you have peace and quiet from certain AfD members.

The view of the city is breathtaking. A spacious room with classic yet harmonious decor, comfortable seating, cloth tablecloths and napkins, uniformed staff, and discreet yet efficient service. As for the food, it was a delight! The icing on the cake? The prices are reasonable. Excellent value for money! A superb experience for November 1st.

A special culinary experience in a beautiful setting with a fabulous view of Freiburg... We were there for dinner at 6:30 p.m. and were given a wonderful window seat. The service was very friendly and attentive. We opted for the set menu, which offered appealing alternatives for each of the three courses, as well as the optional wine pairing at a fair price, which was also true for the entire menu: for fine dining, there is fair value for money. The quality of the ingredients was outstanding, the preparation delicious, and the individual courses attractively presented. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening there. It is recommended to reserve in advance and request a window seat with a view of the city. In any case, the terrace offers a magnificent panoramic view when the weather is nice. We were lucky enough to experience a fantastic sunset there.

It was really very good! The pork medallions we had were very tender and tasty, and the rib-eye steak my grandparents enjoyed very much, but two courses were too much for them. The disabled toilets were a bit complicated. Superb view from the restaurant.

We were a bit hesitant due to some negative reviews we'd read, but the truth is that both the food and the service were excellent. The menu, which is served until 4:3 p.m., is very well-designed, with fresh, high-quality products and generous portions. The price, quality, location, and service are more than reasonable. It's a shame it was a cloudy day, but it's still totally worth the visit. Accessible by both the cable car and the road, it has its own parking lot, although with limited spaces. One detail we especially appreciated was that our dog was also welcome.

A lovely restaurant with a fantastic view of Freiburg. Very professional service. One point deducted, however, for the rather steep prices. We had three drinks and three starters and paid €75.

A very good three-course menu, everything freshly prepared and delicious. The staff was friendly and the service attentive.

Unfortunately, it's completely overrated. This restaurant has a much too good reputation for serving frozen food at outrageous prices. There's absolutely nothing homemade about the tarte flambée. Frozen food costing €1.70 is resold for over €20. The staff is also unfortunately untrained. The kitchen staff consists entirely of untrained cooks. This is how the owner tries to make even more money, as he has to pay untrained cooks less than he deserves. This is evident in the quality of the food. The interior also needs some renovations, as it's pretty run down. The only good thing about the restaurant is the beautiful view. But you can enjoy it without supporting this outrageous restaurant. I would never go there again!

My experience here was very brief. I came on a Wednesday, 1,5 hours before closing time, for a piece of schwarzwald kuchen and a beer. Dattler was recommended to me for one of the best places to get schwarzwald kuchen. As I arrived, the waiter was very accommodating and friendly. Throughout the night the various staff have been very polite and professional. I sat outside, next to wall which overlooks the city including the cathedral. This view is probably one of the best in the city. It started to rain while I was enjoying my cake and beer and the staff lowered screens between me and the view to protect me from the rain but not low enough to block my view (very considerate). I had been waiting to try this cake for a long time so my expectations were high. It was really nice but I realised then that I'm not a big cake lover. No fault to the cake, it's just not my preference. I only ordered cake so I don't feel like I can give a fair rating for the food, only the service and atmosphere.

Unfortunately, ready-made meals are advertised at a completely unfair price. The tarte flambée, for example, costs €1.60 but sells for around €18. That doesn't even justify the view you get there. It's a real shame.

Very friendly and attentive staff. A large selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes. The price-performance ratio of the dishes is somewhat unbalanced. The atmosphere is great. Even in bad weather, they're prepared for the terrace. Overall, a highly recommended!

This restaurant it's delightful with it's marvelous view of all.the city of freiburg . Top.qualoty food for a reasonable price with a nice environment and well educate waitress ,the customer service it's excelent, sometimes you can see the nice owner around taking care of the business and greeting the guests hebis very friendly and charismatic. The food and dishes are delicious serve and deco nicely and with a reasonable quantity of food that at the beginning can seemed it's not enough but believe me it is! The menu has a variety of food but as a suggestion will be nice to have more vegetarian options. Highly recommended worth a visit for a great culinary experience .

The fantastic location with its unparalleled view over Freiburg naturally also makes the restaurant an attractive destination.

Very chic, but also very expensive.

This historic wine tavern was opened by the Dattler family in 1882. It remains the most beautiful and cozy vantage point over Freiburg. The dishes tickle the palate, and the cakes are a delight. The location and quality allow for a somewhat higher price range. Be sure to reserve a table.

They served the worse ice-cream I have ever had. It was full of ice pieces inside and god knows how old it was. I ordered bcz I thought they do fresh. Its just turist scam. Only the view they have nothing else.

Yesterday, three of us ate there. As a vegan, you usually sit next to someone else, munching on fries or having to annoy the staff with special requests. But here, they offer a vegan starter, a vegan main course, and a vegan dessert. Everything was excellent, fresh, and tasty. Even the two meat-eaters got their money's worth. The pistachio cream in the dessert with almond slivers was incomparable in both taste and consistency. The service was perfect. The friendliness of the staff was striking. There were also happy faces at the neighboring tables. It was an all-round successful evening – thanks to everyone who contributed!

A very beautiful place; we were invited as guests to a celebration. The view over Freiburg is simply stunning. A trip up to the Schlossberg is definitely worth it. The restaurant is beautifully situated and invites you to linger.

The prices are absolutely outrageous! They cut costs wherever possible on staff, and almost exclusively employ young Asian girls. Even though the view is mediocre (unfortunately, you can't see much of the old town), that's the only halfway good thing about this place. When we were waiting for a table with a view, we were told to wait, only to find out shortly after that the table we were sitting at had been assigned to another family. On top of that, it was a mass processing operation. It was an absolutely sad experience there and fits the definition of a tourist trap.

Very disappointed by the cuisine, which is playing the "grande gastronomy" style, even though it's just an average restaurant. 42 € per dish (!!!) at their place, but which would cost 25 euros max in France given the quality. The service is not up to par. Okay, the view from the terrace is really great, but it's not enough!

The staff is not particularly friendly or attentive. They prefer beautiful single girls and Germans anyway. If they give you a seat outside in the shade the view is very beautiful and worth it.

The scenery and atmosphere are very beautiful. Sitting in the outdoor area, you can enjoy the panoramic view of the entire Freiburg. The service staff are also very warm and thoughtful. If you have the opportunity, you must come and see it once.

Brunch mit herrlicher Aussicht. Es war sehr voll, aber das Personal war gut organisiert. Wir hatten sehr schnell einen Platz und wurden freundlich bedient. Ich hatte einen Salat mit Schafskäse und Orangen und danach ein Schokoladeneis mit Kirschen. Alles war ausgezeichnet. Trotz der Fülle war das Personal sehr aufmerksam und freundlich.

Das „Dattler“ hoch über Freiburg auf dem Schlossberg hat eine große Terrasse, von der aus man einen herrlichen Blick über die Stadt und die Umgebung hat. Auch der Innenbereich ist sehr schön und hat ein tolles Ambiente. Wir nahmen nach einem Spaziergang nur Drinks. Bedient wurden wir schnell und freundlich. Die Preise für Getränke und Speisen liegen eher im gehobenen Bereich. Fleischspeisen bzw. Mittagsmenüs können schon zwischen 35,00 und 50,00 € kosten. Insgesamt kann man sagen: Einfach schön, elegant, zeitlos kulinarisch etwas Besonderes.

Yes, very much! We celebrated my mother's 82nd birthday with 14 people. We were particularly pleased that, despite the uncertain weather, the tables were set for us both inside and outside. We opted for the bay window with its wonderful view. The service was excellent, and all our special requests were fulfilled. We would happily recommend the Schlossberg Restaurant Dattler.

We stopped by for lunch after hearing some good things, and overall, it was a pleasant enough experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was cosy. I tried a few of the soups, they were definitely the highlight for me. Each had a distinct flavour and the seasoning was spot on. The lentil soup, in particular, was lovely warm and comforting. That said, I wasn’t completely blown away by the rest of the meal. The mains lacked a bit of depth and could’ve done with more creativity. It felt a little on the safe side🤝 Still, the service was great and the team did their best to make us feel at home. I might come back for a bowl of soup and a quiet afternoon, but I’d probably try somewhere else for something more memorable. Thanks.

We celebrated our wedding with 75 people in the banquet hall. Everything was perfectly organized, the food was absolutely delicious, and the service was outstanding. The recommended DJ from Dattler also did a fantastic job and got everyone dancing. All of our guests gave us nothing but positive feedback. You're doing a fantastic job! Keep it up!

We hadden zin in onze eerste asperges van dit jaar en hebben er bij Dattler van genoten. Met gekookte kriel, botersaus, hollandaisesaus en ham. En een heerlijke witte wijn erbij. Restaurant ligt op de berg ( je kunt het kabelbaantje nemen) en gezeten aan het raam heb je een fraai uitzicht.

I only enjoyed a Black Forest cake with coffee but it was very, very tasty. The ambience is rather upscale and so are the prices. Very nice view over the city of Freiburg. The service is courteous and very friendly. Will be going for dinner soon.

Die Lage oberhalb der Stadt macht das Restaurant etwas schwer erreichbar, wenn man. nicht den Lift von der Stadt dort hoch benutzen möchte. Das Essen ist vorzüglich und namentlich das Weinangebot(im wesentlichen regional) gut. Die einzige kleine Einschränkung ist - jedenfalls wenn es voll ist - die Lautstärke, die das Reden am eigenen Tisch etwas erschwert. Da kann die Wahl eines Tisch am Rand womöglich etwas helfen. Der Spargel ist eine Empfehlung, die Preise sind dem Anspruch des Hauses angemessen.

We didn't arrive until 1:45 p.m. A little late for lunch. No problem, the lunch menu was still available. Everyone took (a different) lunch menu for between €44 - €54. 3 courses. We all had the same starter (parsley root soup) and the same dessert (panna cotta and apricot ragout). The food was very good. You could taste and see that fresh ingredients were used. The staff took great care of us! The view alone is stunning, and then such delicious food! We felt spoiled and we're happy to spend the money on it. There are also (only) homemade cakes and tarts here. We also ordered a piece of Black Forest cake and what can I say: that's exactly how it has to be!

There is not much variety of food, we tried the desserts but they are not very high level. But the view and the walking area around it are magnificent.

We had a wonderful evening, with delicious food, very competent and friendly service, in a great atmosphere (the table was beautifully set for our birthday). We were particularly impressed that the owners (junior and senior) asked whether everything was to our satisfaction and whether it was full. We'll definitely be back! Rundum gelungen. Mit 16 Personen im Schlossbergrestauraunt - J. Dattler kam selbst vorbei! -verwöhnt, war supii. Die Oxtail mit sherry, das flufffige Hechtklösschen, der Zander un der Hirsch im Wirsingmantel, dazu die Saucen, wie gewohnt sehr fein. Grauer Burgunder von Frh. v. Gleichenstein. Das Schlossbergbömble am Schluss. Perfekt.

Excellent address with magnificent view of Freiburg. Impeccable service, succulent dishes and delicious desserts (special mention for the Black Forest served in its traditional version, a pure treat). Certainly one of the best addresses in the city!
