Excellent address with magnificent view of Freiburg. Impeccable service, succulent dishes and delicious desserts (special mention for the Black Forest served in its traditional version, a pure treat). Certainly one of the best addresses in the city!

Dattler ist eines der wenigen Restaurants, die ich kenne, die eine so gleichbleibende Qualität an Speisen, Getränken und Service über Jahre bietet. Das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis stimmt ebenfalls. Die Küche zeichnet sich aus durch eine feine, traditionelle, jahreszeitlich abgestimmte Kochkunst ohne Schnörkel, dafür Bodenständig und köstlich. Auch Sonderwünsche, die nicht auf der Karte stehen, sind kein Problem. Das Service Team ist international, dafür aber auch von einer selten erfahrenen Höflichkeit und Aufmerksamkeit. Wenn dann auch noch die Sonne scheint u. die Aussicht auf die Stadt und die Rheinebene einem zu Füßen liegt ist der Himmel ganz nah.

It's been a while since we've been to the Dattler for coffee again and it was simply a reward after the walk. A bit expensive, but a fantastic table by the window, super delicious cake, everything clean and tidy. On top of that, an incredibly friendly, friendly and helpful service staff. Thanks!

We were impressed by both the staff and the food. At my request, a sauce without alcohol was prepared for me. No extra charge. High quality food and selection, not to mention the view of Freiburg. We come from Hanover and will be back next year.

Wir hatten an einem Samstagabend ein sehr leckeres und reichhaltiges 4-Gänge Menü mit begleiteten Weinen im „Blauen Saal des Schlosses“ genossen. Sehr freundliche Bedienung, zeitnaher erstklassiger Service und eine flexible Menükarte. Als Vorspeise gab es Ceviche vom Wildlachs, danach ein schaumiges Fischsüppchen, als Hauptgang rosa gebratenen Lamrücken und als Nachtisch ein gelungenes Trio (Topfenmousse im Glas, Himbeersorbet und Mangoragout). Das Menü war sehr gut und wurde für 79,- EUR , die begleiteten Weine mit Getränkepaket (Mineralwasser und Espresso) für 29,- EUR angeboten. EinTop Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis.

My favorite restaurant, delicious! The steak is very good, tender and juicy and paired with their special black pepper sauce. The Viennese pork chop is just the right amount of fat and lean, very crispy and satisfying when you bite into it!

Not only have we celebrated a few celebrations at the Dackler, it is always a celebration for us to be there. We have now tried everything from dinner to drinks, ice cream and cake. Conclusion: Everything was very tasty, great service, committed boss, fair prices

Bombastic restaurant. The menu was really tasty and the view over Freiburg in the evening is unbeatable. A little tip for dessert: "glue" the glasses onto the plate with marzipan. Then it's easier to use because it doesn't slip around and people who know the trick have a little treat.😉

Wir hatten eine Geburtstagsfeier mit ca. 100 Gästen im Bankettsaal Freiburg. Unsere Gäste und wir waren vom Empfang auf der Terrasse mit der fantastischen Aussicht über die Stadt, vom feierlichen Ambiente des Saals, vom sehr guten Essen und dem ausgesprochen freundlichen, kompetenten und aufmerksamen Servicepersonal begeistert und haben uns durchweg wohl gefühlt. Die Planung vorab durch Frau König war sehr professionell. Frau König war immer ansprechbar und nahm sich ausreichend Zeit für uns. Der Leiter des Serviceteams Herr Klausmann war sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und hatte alles im Blick. Beim Essen wurde auch Rücksicht auf Allergien genommen, die Portionen waren ausreichend groß und ein Nachschlag war möglich. Insgesamt eine rundum hervorragend ausgerichtete Feier.

Für unsere Hochzeitsfeier in kleinem Rahmen, waren wir im Oktober 2024 im Restaurant Dattler. Von der Planung bis zum eigentlichen Tag, von Kaffee und Kuchen bis zum 4 Gang Abendmenü, war einfach alles phantastisch! Ein super Service und tolle Inhaber. Alle stets freundlich und hilfsbereit! Für uns war alles perfekt!

Very expensive, but you get excellent food and service. The staff behaves according to the ambience, but knows how to adapt to the customer and is therefore by no means too stiff or "repetitive". The view is wonderful, as is the general atmosphere.

El Dattler Schlossbergrestaurant es realmente especial para mí y mi esposa. Tuvimos nuestra primera cita aquí y el año pasado tuvimos nuestra recepción de boda en el restaurante. A todos nuestros huéspedes les encantó la vista (el restaurante tiene una vista fantástica desde la montaña Schlossberg a la ciudad de Friburgo). El restaurante en sí es elegante, el personal amable y profesional y nos encantó la comida. Uno de los miembros de nuestra familia comentó que fue la mejor recepción de bodas en la que había estado. Visitamos unos meses después de nuestra boda y uno de los miembros del personal nos reconoció. También compartiré algunas fotos del lugar. Hemos reservado una mesa para celebrar nuestro 1 aniversario de bodas en la calle aquí.

A culinary experience in a class of its own with the best view :) As soon as you enter you are greeted by a stylish atmosphere and courteous service. Every dish was a delight - from the starter to the dessert, everything was perfectly coordinated and prepared with great attention to detail. Particularly noteworthy are the fresh, high-quality ingredients and the creative interpretations of the dishes. The wine selection is good and complements the food perfectly. Beautiful panoramic views of the city. If you want to enjoy this with a great meal and good drinks, you should or have to dig a little deeper into your wallet.

Great ambience, very good service

The finest food, but it also costs a lot. That's why it bothered me that my soup and salad came at the same time and wasn't coordinated with the people sitting next to me. Complaining at a high level. You have a nice view in the restaurant, even from the second row. And you can go for a walk on the Schlossberg anyway. Taking the Schloßbergbahn up and down is also a small experience and doesn't cost much. The train runs at the push of a button (do it yourself) until the restaurant closes. I would come again.

The food was okay, definitely not as good as you would expect given the relatively high prices. Service was underwhelming and seemed to be in a rush, taking away plates while we were still eating. The view is really nice and the only nice thing to expect here. The interior was outdated.

One of the best restaurants in Freiburg! Generations over generations have celebrated from baptism, to birthdays and weddings! We love the Flädlesuppe and the Rahmtöpfle. Best sauces you can get!

After I was able to celebrate a wedding here as a witness, we also celebrated our own wedding and our daughter's baptism here. This view combined with the excellent food remains absolutely unbeatable for us. And there is also the courteous and extremely friendly service. A big thank you goes to Mr. Klausmann! It felt like no glass was ever more than half empty and no special request was left unconsidered (Cheers T.!). Planning in advance was also easy thanks to Ms. König's wealth of experience and professional tips. A big thank you goes to the whole team for our unforgettable day. (Now I have to be careful, otherwise the review will be considered purchased during these times. Hence a negative point: I had a double helping due to the fine dining and thus problems with the zipper of my dress - but nothing that a good safety pin couldn't hold).

Wonderful place with flair, great, attentive staff. The apple pie and cappuccino were expertly prepared. The view of Freiburg, the cathedral and the Kaiserstuhl all the way to the Vosges is an experience. We'll be back soon.

Wundervoll! Nachdem ich bereits als Trauzeugin hier eine Hochzeit feiern durfte, haben wir auch unsere eigene Hochzeit und Taufe unserer Tochter hier gefeiert. Diese Aussicht in Verbindung mit dem sehr guten Essen bleibt für uns absolut unschlagbar. Und dazu kommt noch der zuvorkommende und ausgesprochen freundliche Service. Ein großes Danke geht an Herrn Klausmann! Gefühlt war kein Glas jemals mehr als halbleer und kein Sonderwunsch blieb unberücksichtigt (Cheers T.!). Auch die Planung vorab war dank viel Erfahrung und professioneller Tipps seitens Frau König ein Leichtes. Ein herzliches Dankeschön gilt dem ganzen Team für unseren unvergesslichen Tag. (Jetzt muss ich aufpassen, sonst gilt die Bewertung in diesen Zeiten als gekauft. Daher ein Negativpunkt: Ich hatte auf Grund des feinen Essens einen doppelten Nachschlag und damit Probleme mit dem Reißverschluss meines Kleides - aber nichts, das eine gute Sicherheitsnadel nicht hätte halten können).

Best place in Freiburg to enjoy the view of the city and the Rhine plain with the Kaiserstuhl and Vosges while eating delicious food. Also recommended in the sun thanks to the shading.

Das Grill-Event beim Dattler Schlossbergrestaurant - Wie immer SUPER! Wie schon im letzten Jahr war das Grill-Event wieder ein Gaumenschmaus. Meiner Meinung nach, wurde das TOP-Niveau von 2023 nochmals übertroffen! Ich möchte mich herzlich beim gesamtem Team, was immer sehr freundlichen und zuvorkommend ist, bedanken!! Wir planen diese Veranstaltung für 2025 wieder ein, dann aber noch mit mehr Freunden!!

It has fabulous views (surprisingly, better from inside than from the terrace) but the staff, with some exceptions, is very haughty and arrogant and the process of being able to sit at a table is tedious and unpleasant, even at off-peak hours when you just want have a coffee....

Incredible view over Freiburg including Münster. Food was very tasty but a bit too much for a menu. I recommend not eating bread. Kir Royale is highly recommended as entry 👌 the menu is also a good choice. Service uncomplicated and friendly. Make possible what is possible. We really enjoyed it and felt comfortable.

We had lunch at the Dattler restaurant in Freiburg on Sunday, July 14th. We had reserved a table inside the restaurant for a slightly larger group of people. The location offers a great view over Freiburg. There was a very friendly greeting when entering the Schlossberg restaurant. The menu and dessert menu contains delicious treats and sweet desserts that are prepared with a lot of love and skill. The service staff was extremely friendly and attentive throughout the entire restaurant visit.

Overall, the visit to this restaurant was very successful. The service was excellent, the staff very friendly and attentive. The view of Freiburg from the table was also beautiful. What was special was that we were given a table on the terrace despite making a reservation for the interior. The 3-course menu was very reasonably priced and the quality of the food was also very good. The berries in the cocktail were also fresh and not from the freezer. There is only a small deduction in the temperature of the main courses. Unfortunately, the meat and vegetables came to the table cold and the plate was not preheated. That slightly affected the enjoyment, but I didn't want to send the waiter back to the kitchen to warm up... Overall, we can highly recommend a visit to this restaurant. With the friendly service, the great view and the good price-performance ratio, the positive impressions clearly outweigh the negative ones.

Unfortunately, smoking is also allowed on the fully booked terrace, which is really difficult for non-smokers to tolerate.

Das Essen hat sehr lange gedauert und wurde seperat mit 10min unterschied gebracht obwohl es gemeinsam bestellt wurde... Dennoch war es sehr lecker, die Preise und Auswahl lassen zu wünschen übrig. Sehr nettes Personal und schönes Ambiente.

Diesmal waren wir nicht so begeistert, das Entrecôte war etwas zäh, die Pommes hatten wenig Geschmack. Dafür war der gemischte Salat köstlich. Die Entenbrust konnte auch nicht ganz überzeugen, auch sie war teilweise zäh. Das Gratin hingegen schmeckte gut. Die Bedieung wie immer sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend.

There is no priority for people taking the funicular back down

Ordered the vegan flammkuchen and the Creme brûlée. The dessert came with some sort of lemon ice cream. Extremely creamy and flavourful. The flammkuchen, though good and full of veggies, was a little soggy. However, taking into consideration the breathtaking views, the great service and above average food, it is def a must visit in Freiburg.

We always enjoy coming to Dattlers. It is the most beautiful view over Freiburg with delicious fine cuisine and very friendly and competent service! The ride on the cable car is an experience and then you can take the digestive walk down.

Incredibly beautiful view over Freiburg if you manage to get a suitable spot on the terrace. Unfortunately, this is often not possible because there is too much going on. The cakes are recommended.

Beautifully located restaurant with a great view of Freiburg. We made a reservation for my husband's birthday and got a wonderful table by the window. Our waiter was very nice and accommodating. My husband's steak was cooked to the desired point and the spaetzle was really tasty. We also found it very nice that the respective sauce and a portion of spaetzle were served as a "second helping" with our chosen dishes. So the price was completely okay for us. All in all, a wonderful birthday evening with an excellent dinner. We definitely recommend it!

Wir waren anlässlich einer Trauerfeier mit 20 Familienmitgliedern zu einem vorher detailliert abgesprochenen Mittagsmenü dort und haben an drei liebevoll und stilvoll gedeckten Tischen im Erker mit grandioser Aussicht auf die Altstadt Freiburgs gespeist. Das dreigängige Essen war vorzüglich und reichhaltig. Die Bedienung war stets freundlich, aufmerksam und emsig. Herr Dattler hat mich und meinen Bruder, wie auch die letzten Male, herzlich empfangen und verabschiedet. Alle Gäste waren begeistert. Immer wieder gerne!

Meine Freundin und ich hatten einen Tisch mit Superaussicht über Freiburg. Für unseren Anlass war der Tisch überraschend liebevoll dekoriert - nur nebenbei erwähnt, dass 2 Freundinnen ihre "140 Jahre", jeweils 70. Geburtstag nachfeiern wollen. Das Essen war fantastisch und von hoher Qualität. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis war stimmig. Bedient hat uns Anastasia Jovanovic, eine äußerst aufmerksame Servicekraft. Sehr empathisch und intelligent. Besser geht's nicht. Sie hat maßgeblich zu der Atmosphäre des sich Wohlfühlen beigetragen. Man würde sich mehr so tolle junge Servicekräfte wünschen. Lässt wirklich für die Zukunft hoffen.

The Dattler restaurant in Freiburg was a special experience for my wife and me. We specifically dined there and were able to enjoy a lovely window seat which made our experience even more enjoyable. The variety of dishes, the friendly service and the excellent wine selection made our visit something special. Unreservedly recommended!

He seemed to anticipate and accommodate almost our every need, which made our experience all the more enjoyable. During my first visit to Dattler two years ago, I noticed Mr. Rashid's excellent service. It is obvious that he not only has outstanding expertise, but also an exceptional talent for pampering his guests and anticipating their needs. Magnificent view, bucolic atmosphere. The wine was good.

Wir waren zu zweit und hatten einen sehr schönen Fensterplatz mit Blick auf Freiburg. Hervorheben möchten wir den exzellenten, äußerst freundlichen und schnellen Service durch Herrn Hadi Raschid. Das war einfach topp und hat wesentlich zu dem gelungenen Abend beigetragen. Das Menü für € 87,00 inkl. Weinbegleitung für € 28,00 war perfekt, das Carpaccio zart, geschmacklich hervorragend, der gebratene Pulpo und das Bärlauchrisotto waren perfekt zubereitet, auf den Punkt gebratenes Kalbsfiletmédaillon mit toll gewürztem grünem Spargel, Trüffelsahne und Kartoffelkrapfen, ein Genuss. Die Gambas Don Alfredo waren zum Niederknien, toll gewürzt, perfekt gebraten, einfach hervorragend. Die Weinbegleitung mit ausgewählten Weinen von verschiedenen Winzern aus der Region passte ausgezeichnet zum Menü. Das war Küche auf hohem Niveau. Einziger Wermutstropfen war die anfängliche Tischplatzierung (Tisch 13), eher ein "Katzentisch", nach unserem Einwand bekamen wir dann doch einen sehr guten Tisch am Fenster, wie Wochen zuvor auch reserviert. Das Ambiente im Dattler ist ansprechend, sehr schöne, geschmackvolle Tischdekoration, die Lage mit dem schönen Blick auf Freiburg ist einzigartig. Das Restaurant im Dattler ist eine Adresse, die man uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen kann. Hier stimmt die Qualität der Speisen, das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis, der exzellente Service. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder.

The food was good. The service friendly. The facility is a bit old. You have to pay for the view and location in the price.

I'm more and more disappointed every time! Every time the price level increases, it is now far above other, very good restaurants (main courses over €42 to around €50, simple vegetarian dishes like risotto or similar over €30, but very small portions, more like a starter) . The food is just plain good, no finesse, nothing special, no special sauces, no taste explosions in the mouth, no positive surprises whatsoever. The recipe composition is careless and too simple for this level. Even the (very small) side salad is so harmless that you can get it tastier in many hiking restaurants. Again: the food tastes good, especially the meat is wonderfully pink and tender, but everything overall is disproportionate to the prices and your own standards. Maybe the new owner (son?) simply doesn't have the skills and quality of Mr. Dattler Sr. It would definitely be helpful to take the time to eat in a few restaurants that are "below the level of Dattler" and the boss will be amazed at HOW well and imaginatively the food is cooked there, at cheaper prices. And the food is also served quicker because, as always, it took quite a long time. The service was extremely professional and friendly, although one might ask how the guests would like the meat... What a shame! One can only hope that the new team manages not to lose touch. Many regular guests still come because they always came and because there is a beautiful view, but with such poor price-performance ratio, at least the younger people and the business people will inevitably leave because they simply know better things from other restaurants.
