We've been to Watzke am Ring many times, and we knew the food to be hearty and home-style. So we went today for "schnitzel day." And we were sorely disappointed. Instead of a pork schnitzel, we got a sliced ​​chicken schnitzel on completely unseasoned mashed potatoes, surrounded by some kind of cold tomato paste, and all for €19.90 per portion. Plus a light beer that was so sparkling it was almost impossible to drink. No, sorry, that wasn't good. The service was attentive and friendly; after all, they can't help the food.

We visited the brewery in June 2025 as part of an Elbe bike tour. We sat in the beer garden overlooking the Elbe and kept an eye on our bikes. The location is excellent. This is a great place to see and be seen. We enjoyed the food and drinks (their house beer). The Ballhaus Watzke is a professional host. We'll be back.

While waiting to collect our visa stamps at the Czech Consulate, we saw Watzke right after crossing the bridge. What a wonderful choice! Beautiful interior with a large bell and lots of seating options. We were also happy to find they brew their own beers! We went with Hell style, which is fairly light with superior taste. Our meal was Berlins favorite Currywurst with fries! This was just as good if not better than to be found in the capital! The other patrons had other local dishes that certainly looked and smelled great. Our server was wonderful and attentive! He even said cheers in Czech! Well worth stopping in here!

Nice building, good ambience, friendly people

I ate Käsespärzle months ago, and in my opinion, it was processed cheese. That's not allowed in Austria? Absolutely not. It didn't taste of anything either. Ordered the Flanmkucgen today—disaster. Thin as paper and just crumbly. My conclusion: I won't eat here again and can't recommend it.

Food extremely tasty. Service very very friendly. But there is a waiting time on public holidays.
