Klassisch Watzke offers delicious German cuisine. The beer is excellent, and it's a great place to spend an evening with a large group for a birthday party. Unfortunately, the service is absolutely terrible. Sometimes our orders were forgotten, and special requests were explained in detail, explaining why we wanted something that wasn't possible.

The service was okay, and the food has improved for me over the years. However, I find the prices a bit high—€15 for a plate of minced pork or €17 for currywurst—even right next to the Frauenkirche, you can get it cheaper. But of course, people go to Watzke for the good local beer. It's always delicious. And the atmosphere is very rustic and convivial.

Spectacular traditional German restaurant. Great atmosphere, excellent service. The food was delicious, both the soup and the wiener schnitzel were very good, but the best dish was undoubtedly the cosillo. And the highlight was the exquisite apple strudel. The craft beers were fantastic. This place is definitely a 100% recommendable place and a must-visit. Excellent value for money.

The currywurst was unfortunately gristly and marbled. The schnitzel was simply dry. We didn't even finish our meal. It's a shame, but we won't be coming back.

A great place to relax after a visit to Dresden's old town, either indoors or outdoors, with a glass of home-brewed beer and a delicious meal. The service is fast, friendly, and often speaks more than just German. After you tell us your dinner preferences, you'll quickly have a delicious plate full.

The table was sticky and hadn't been cleaned. The beer was okay, but there wasn't much advice on the taste. So, you stick with the tried-and-true.

I highly recommend anyone in Dresden to visit one of the Watzkes. It's very nice, right next to the Golden Rider, and the beer tastes great.

My family and I were looking for a place where we could try real German cuisine and where we could order something for our child. I'll start with the interior, the atmosphere is great, the fact that there are almost no tourists, mostly Germans, adds to the atmosphere. Let's move on to the dishes, my wife and I took half a knuckle and white sausages, and we ordered a schnitzel with French fries for our child. The knuckle was gorgeous, the skin was crispy and the flesh fell apart into fibers. The sausages were also tasty, well labeled and juicy. The child ate the schnitzel with pleasure. And of course we took all 4 types of beer that are brewed in this place to taste, the beer is very tasty, I remember more than the filtering, and my wife remembered Hell. The prices are average. A must-see if you want to eat inexpensive and tasty German food.

The miserably unfriendly staff are unfamiliar with their own beer selection, and they're doing it at Brauhaus Watzke. The place used to be really good! Perhaps some of the staff should be retrained, as the entire staff is known to suffer from criticism. I'll be avoiding the place with my family for a while; after all, there are plenty of better ones. ;-)

The service staff weren't exactly friendly and very slow. There weren't enough glasses available for the paid beer samples, so ordering wasn't possible. That shouldn't have happened, especially since the place wasn't full.

A truly lovely restaurant to experience local cuisine and enjoy a good, cold beer. Our server was friendly, courteous, and simply perfect for the job; you really feel at home there. The food—we had schnitzel with potato and cucumber salad and the baked potato with chicken and salad—was excellent, simply delicious. The beer, a recommendation from the server, was worth its weight in gold; it was absolutely delicious. The view of the Dresden Frauenkirche and the Golden Rider adds to the appeal. We went there with eight people for our 22nd birthday and were thoroughly satisfied. The service was excellent and the food was delicious.

Authentic, shameless waiters. The food is average, the average price is high. But BE CAREFUL, they charge a 10% tip without telling you. It was €7.60 for me. Also, for a glass of water, not bottled water, but tap water, it was €4.20 when I ordered only tap water. I had to ask for the bill in writing because they didn't even give it to me when I paid with the card reader. ATTENTION TOURISTS, utter scam. You are authentic. Shameless.

Unfortunately, it was a bit disappointing. The waiters were attentive, the food was okay... but when my friend pulled a long, dark hair out of his schnitzel and showed it to the waiter, there was no apology or free round of beer. He just said, "Ah, I know who's hair," and laughed. For a schnitzel that cost around €25, no one found it funny.

It wasn't my first visit here, and since I'd had good experiences before, I made another reservation and was sure it would be a great experience. The reservation worked, the reception was friendly, and we were shown to our seats before the scheduled time. Even with the first order, you could tell the waiter was completely overwhelmed. We just wanted drinks, after all, it was 30°C and sunny. We were ignored for a long time before we were finally able to order. We were understanding, as the Watzke was very busy. But when the drinks were empty and we repeatedly signaled that we would like another order, we waited forever again... We weren't very happy, as many guests had already left and it was manageable. But our assigned waiter continued to ignore us. When he finally had time for us, we ordered more drinks and, as a precaution, our food before we had to wait forever for a response again. The drinks arrived, and the empty glasses were left there, with the comment that he would pick them up "right away." They remained at our table until we left... Even though the tables around us were cleared several times... They even put out new cutlery trays, and again we were told he would get the glasses right away. In the meantime, the food arrived, and these colleagues also didn't see the need to take the glasses. As for the food: it was warm, the portions were okay, and the price was a bit higher. We all enjoyed it, so we can give it 4 out of 5 stars. Even during the meal, we wanted to order another round of drinks. This was never possible. Now we were really frustrated!! We had a reservation until 10:00 PM. After dinner, we decided to leave the restaurant. After 1.5 hours of unused glasses sitting on the table, the chairs becoming increasingly uncomfortable (they're wooden folding chairs with slats, but NO seat cushions), and the service we received was so poor. I have to say, I won't be coming back here!!

I recently ordered an espresso and two glasses of tap water (not bottled), and was charged €12.80 in total. According to the bill, a 0.4 L glass of water costs €4.20 – which, frankly, is cheaper in the middle of the desert. This does not seem like a normal price, and it is overcharged - or something else...have no idea...

We were in Dresden this weekend for Kaisermania. On Friday, we had dinner at Watzke. It was delicious, very nice, and the staff was very friendly. Today, Saturday, we went for bratwurst, very nice and very tasty, homemade bratwurst. We'd love to come back.

We were there before one of the Kaisermania concerts. The many staff members were always eager to fulfill the guests' wishes. We can only take our hats off to them. Even before the concert, Roland's greatest hits were played, building up our anticipation. And a surprisingly elderly lady took care of the clean restrooms. We were all very impressed.

A place worth visiting. Eating outside offers a beautiful view. However, the food is average, nothing special.

The food is typically German, quite good. The Carri wurst is good and large, really filling. The schnitzel is a typical pork chop, and the cucumber salad is good. The place is pleasant with a good view of the Augustus Bridge. The craft beer is quite good. There's a beer special on Tuesdays: €8.50 per liter.

The ambiance at the Goldener Reiter is nice. A bit noisy outside, but that's due to the location. The service was friendly, but since it was busy, there were relatively long waits, and sometimes it seemed as if our corner was somewhat forgotten. When we made ourselves known, they responded quickly (assuming they noticed us). The beer—do I even need to say it's delicious? That's obvious at Watzke. The beer cocktails were a real discovery. Something different and very good, too! The food is home-style and very tasty. The meat dish was very good value for money. The vegetarian dish, chanterelle mushrooms with bread dumplings (a seasonal dish), was really tasty, but with only one dumpling, it was a bit limited. Especially compared to the other dishes, the value for money wasn't as good. So, my suggestion for improvement: Add a dumpling for the same price, and I'll be happy. Despite the criticism, a positive review and a clear recommendation!

We had an incredibly good evening! The food was very, very good! Delicious homemade beer! And most importantly: "Mrs. Gaube" – by far the best, most personable, and funniest waitress I've ever had. We'd come back just for her. Absolutely fantastic!

Used to be a favorite – now a disappointment We enjoyed visiting Watzke for many years, but our last visit to the Walze am Goldener Reiter was a disappointing experience. The dish served (see photo) cost over €20, but neither the quality nor the presentation justified this price. The peas tasted like standard frozen fare, the fries were plain and served in small portions, and the gratinated main course seemed rather carelessly presented. The small splash of ketchup and mayo on the side plate unfortunately doesn't help matters – it just doesn't seem contemporary. For a price like that, we expect a well-thought-out concept, an appealing presentation, and, above all, convincing taste. The ambiance is still nice – but the food disappointed us this time. Conclusion: The value for money is no longer there – a shame, because the history of the establishment deserves something different. We hope that more focus will be placed on quality and guest satisfaction in the future.

Thursdays at 6 p.m. without a reservation, a table for two is no problem! The service is perfect and very friendly. Unfortunately, our waiter is constantly being hampered by the kitchen and the bar. He has his tables perfectly under control, unless he's constantly confronted with things that are none of his business. Home-brewed beer, local cuisine, view of the Golden Rider. The veal meatballs and schnitzel were delicious, and the portions were filling. Dishes are made in-house, no frozen schnitzel! EC card payments accepted. No problem with dogs. Highly recommended.

A great place for a delicious draft beer and hearty meal! I've had the best broiler here several times. It's also nice that they offer smaller plates. Very reasonable value for money, and a changing selection of beers and food. Reservations are often required—especially in summer, many outdoor seating areas are booked. Unfortunately, I have to deduct one star because on our last visit, we were served by an extremely unpleasant young man. He was very condescending and inappropriate toward us, especially the female guests. It's a shame! All the other service staff, however, were always very polite.

Going here made me have a mini break down. The entire restaurant reeks of cigarette smoke made worse when they open all the windows so sitting inside doesn’t help. I couldn’t get anyone’s attention to try and pay the bill so I could leave and was stuck here for 30 minutes wishing so badly to be able to leave. Ruined my night. Food was good but cold. Service was friendly enough but super super slow. Overall would AVOID.

Wir waren rundum begeistert vom Watzke am Goldenen Reiter, sodass wir in 3 Tagen Urlaub in Dresden sofar zweimal dort waren. Schon beim Ankommen wurden wir freundlich empfangen und zügig an unseren Platz gebracht – der Service war durchweg schnell, aufmerksam und sehr herzlich. Das Essen? Ein Traum! Das Würzfleisch war mit Abstand das beste, das wir je gegessen haben – perfekt abgeschmeckt, herrlich cremig und mit einer knusprigen Käsekruste überbacken. Und der Broiler: außen goldbraun und knusprig, innen unglaublich zart und saftig – so muss das sein! Dazu ein kühles, hausgebrautes Bier und der Blick auf den Goldenen Reiter – was will man mehr? Wir kommen definitiv wieder!

Hello, we're long-time Watzke fans and, as always, we ordered potato soup and Schnell Gurken. Unfortunately, the soup was very disappointing; it's no longer Saxon but vegan; Schnell Gurken have been completely removed from the menu. I don't know if this applies to all branches now, except for the menu in Dresden. But for 7.90, it didn't taste good at all. We won't be back, sorry.

I was extremely disappointed with the service. I ordered the Gorgonzola pasta with chicken, as clearly stated on the menu. The server oddly asked if I wanted it with chicken (which confused me) but I still confirmed, “Yes, of course.” When the food arrived, it was just plain pasta with no chicken. I pointed this out, and the server casually said he “forgot” I wanted chicken, despite it being part of the dish by default. Even worse, he made no effort to fix it properly. He said he could bring the chicken but would have to charge extra and it would take 20 minutes, while everyone else at my table was already eating. His final “solution”? He suggested I take the chicken off my mom’s plate. Seriously? That’s not only unprofessional but also completely unacceptable. He refused to take the dish back or offer a replacement, so we ended up switching plates, my mom ate plain potatoes and salad while I ate her chicken. I didn’t even want to pay after this experience. The server clearly didn’t care, and this is not the level of service I’d expect from a place with a good reputation.

Guys, the conditions are an absolute disaster! Wrong dishes served, a couple of appetizers "forgotten," and leftovers spilled on their pants when the plates were taken away. But as an operator, you can forget about these little things; thankfully, there are always enough guests in the central location.

The currywurst was just a mediocre bratwurst, served with a mini portion of fries – like at McDonald's. The price: almost €18 – a disgrace. My wife's "Leberkäse" (also €18) was actually a cheap, fried extra sausage, and the potato salad was inedible. The beer was okay, but nothing special. Absolutely not recommended.

We had our annual class reunion yesterday. The menu had very limited offerings for such a large restaurant. The ice cream sundae was outrageous at almost €10.00. Sometimes the name alone isn't enough.
