Great and tasty food and tasty beer, friendly and competent service.

My wife and I followed the positive reviews on Google and tried out the Watzke am Goldenen Reiter. The waiter was quick and friendly. At dinner we both decided on a pork knuckle. 1x 1/2 for €18.90 and 1x a whole knuckle for €24.90. The food was at our table within 10 minutes, which was very quick. The food was "basically" okay, but it was very fatty and there was little meat on the pork knuckle. The price is probably higher than elsewhere due to the location and popularity of the place. The bottom line for us is that we cannot recommend the pork knuckles for the price. The ambience and service are top.

There were two of us there. A meal came out right on the second try. We really enjoyed the beer. Nice service. We would come again.

Great service, great gastro. The food was very good, I recommend the pork cheeks, they were very tasty. The venison bratwurst also tasted good. The beer is also worth a visit 👌

Food appropriate for the price, so rather mediocre. With the monthly sausage, the sauce was very concentrated. The half chicken comes completely naked if you don't order any side dishes.

Brewery atmosphere. Quite a lot of hustle and bustle and a bit louder. The beer and the hearty food were delicious. Eager service. There was almost too much demand for my taste, but it would be better to have too much than too little. 🙂

We were there on a Tuesday evening, around 8 p.m. The restaurant was packed inside, but there was still plenty of seating outside. After a short wait of maybe 2 minutes, the two of us were brought to a table of four. The waiting time after ordering seemed very short to us. The drinks came in less than 5 minutes and the food maybe after 20. The service was tip-top and attentive. A quick attention and the waiter was at the table. The extra white cabbage salad for €4.50 was a bit small, but manageable. The beer and the food (“Watzkes Nr1” and “Steak au four”) were incredibly good. Really highly recommended. 👍🏼

The beer tastes good, but the service in this branch is unacceptable! A snotty, absolutely unfriendly service (older lady with very short hair)! Your style is bad for business! Tables are also very close together inside. We prefer to go to the Wurstküche and the Ring, the service is much better there.

A year ago we were thrilled and that's why we went there again. The service is good and the team sometimes does a good job. Unfortunately the 1/2 chicken was very light & the side salad 🥗 for €4.50 was a disgrace, more like an egg cup filled with salad. The young waiter didn't say anything about it, he didn't care. Too bad!

We are tourists from the Czech Republic, and today, October 20, 2024, we visited this cafe. Unfortunately, we experienced passive aggression from one of the waiters, which ruined our mood for the entire day. We placed our order in English, but the waiter deliberately acted as if he didn’t understand us and spoke to us only in German. As tourists, we don’t expect to be fluent in German, and we felt humiliated by this behavior. Regarding the food, it was excellent—everything was top-notch, and we have no complaints about the kitchen. However, the waiter brought us two portions of ribs that we hadn’t ordered, claiming he misunderstood us on purpose. Later, we had to wait a long time for the bill—around 30 minutes—while the waiter blatantly ignored us. We tried calling him, but he continued to serve other customers and refused to come to our table. We even used a translation app to politely ask for the bill and whether he could pack the extra food we didn’t order. His response was strange and rude: he made a face, said “No!” and walked away. We had to wait again. The waiter was extremely unpleasant, arrogant, and disrespectful. It was a really disappointing experience. I’m attaching photos to this review.

Food was okay, the fries and fried potatoes got too much fat.

The Watzke brewery on the Goldener Reiter is quite touristy, even if there were a lot of locals there. We dined there twice. Once for lunch, a little something, which was good, and then another lunch dish, which wasn't so convincing. The broiler was a little careless on the plate, but it was juicy and crispy. The stuffed vegetarian stuffed pepper was quite tasty, but was also not presented nicely. So everything is somehow ok. Service was attentive and good on our first visit, slow and not very attentive on our second visit. We would definitely have had something to drink or ordered dessert, but the wait was just too long. A very nice idea is the tasting tray with three Watzke beer specialties. What is not possible is to leave the red bucket on the serving table for table cleaning. That's why the points were deducted, otherwise it would have been four stars.

Always happy to come here. A reservation is recommended.

Everything is great. Super tasty 😋 beer 🍺. Nice ambience. Friendly staff. Good value for money. Unfortunately I didn't eat anything there. That's why I can't give any stars 🌟. Next time. 5 liter beer keg to take with you or in the 1 or 2 liter (3 liter I'm not sure anymore) glass bottle to fill. Tuesday is mass evening 🍺 for €8.50. On Thursday the beer 🍺 is 0.30 cents cheaper. There were 2 different types and a monthly beer (hop beer). All were great. You can also try all 3 varieties for €4.80 (mini). Fits. The service is manly! Very masculine! If you don't order a beer, you get pens and a picture to color. Furthermore, it is pointed out that the chosen seat is very good, as it allows you to have a good look at the “material” passing by. That's not okay. This behavior is outrageous!

I think it would be perfect to eat while looking at the night view of the Elbe River. If you go alone, half the Haksen is enough, but if you're a bit greedy, it's even more delicious with sausage. I looked at the menu and didn't know what it was, so I just showed them the review photos and asked for this. They showed me the menu and brought it to me quickly. The remaining items were neatly packaged. Of course, there was a wait, but the waiter was very attentive, so I was satisfied with my meal. The hall is spacious, so even though it's busy, they're diligent... I heard the red beer is delicious, so I tried it and it's really delicious 🫠 It's smooth and has a unique taste.

Angebot Schnitzeltag + 1 Bier 19,90 € Was war auf dem Teller? 1 Portion Kartoffelsalat (Großhandelspackung aus dem Plastetopf) 1 Portion Weißkrautsalat (Großhandelspackung aus dem Plastetopf) 1 Schnitzel (Großhandelspackung aus der Folie durch die Fritteuse) gezogen) 1 Bier sehr schmackhaft Fazit: Wareneinsatz gering, Gewinn sehr optimiert. Very good place , good German food

Eingerichtet im Stil eines zünftigen Brauhauses. Mit Glocke, welche die Zeit läutet. Personal ist schnell und freundlich. Das Bier ist echt gut. Jeden Monat ein anderes Sonderbier. Wurst und Fleisch sind zum grossen Teil Inhalt der Speisekarte.

Food great, service bad, despite pre-ordering for 7 people, our table was completely ignored, we received neither a menu nor any kind of speech from the waitresses. After about 20 minutes and initiative on our part, we finally got menus (we had already grabbed two from the neighboring table) and ordered the drinks. After about an hour our food arrived, while everyone around us, even if they had come later, were already being served with food. The service staff are certainly running at the limit, but we are not aware of any guilt as to why We were so obviously deliberately ignored. It was our first visit to this restaurant with this group. We are between 21 and 80 years old and it was a birthday dinner. We were quite disappointed then. In addition, the noise level does not necessarily contribute to a harmonious atmosphere.

We enjoyed the food. We had the pork cheeks and the gnocchi. What's particularly nice is that there is a monthly beer and a monthly sausage every month. The menu also contains information about the history of the business. We were there on a Friday evening and it was very busy, which meant it was quite loud in the restaurant, but everything was still reasonable. The service and the kitchen were very quick despite the many guests. Thanks for the lovely evening!

The waitress was absolutely impossible! We were served by a woman with black hair who first served all the men around us even though we were there before and then she brazenly sent us away so that 2 men could sit at our table (there were 5 of us sitting at a table of 6). ), the food was simply catastrophic, not recommended and far too expensive.

Whenever we visit family in Dresden, the Watzke is a welcome stop. No matter whether to eat (large portions, especially the knuckle and pork cheeks are great) or to take a Watzke beer to-go. We are very satisfied every time!

Watzke am Goldenen Reiter has always been my favorite for business lunches with colleagues, even from abroad. During my last visit, about 6 weeks ago, I had to be really embarrassed in front of my colleagues about the service at Watzke. First when ordering beer the following dialog: - we would like to try the current monthly beer - There isn't... - ahhh, current beer of the month? - There isn't, I said so (rubbing his hands on his fist as if he was about to hit us) - ..... When beer was brought, the young man smashed glasses onto the table. Spilled some beer and left. Wipe away? No, he didn't think it was necessary. A young lady then brought food. While serving, she hit her head on a hanging lamp, got angry, smashed leftovers onto the table and walked away cursing. My colleagues asked me if rough condition is part of the program. Actually no. Given the prices that Watzke charges for their meager portions, the service is at the lowest level. Management should carefully check which personnel are sent to the customer. For me, Watzke now only exists as a beer-to-go bar. I don't want to be ashamed of the "typical Watzke, typical Dresden" anymore. Best regards

The Watzke is a great brewery with a great view of the Golden Rider. We were very lucky to get a seat, although a group of 6 people is not easy. But a place was quickly found. The food was very tasty and the service was simply great! Highly recommended and always happy.

Were here around 3 p.m. Outdoor area fully occupied. Very long waiting times (approx. 20 minutes until the first drink came), as apparently there was only 1 waiter who handed out drinks. Weisswurst had already burst open. Not good in taste. We came here on the recommendation of the bus driver on our city tour and were very disappointed. Never again!!

A typical restaurant that is almost reminiscent of a fast food joint. The food is okay, the beer 🍺 is okay. The beer cocktails are great. It is very busy, which of course causes a bit of hecticness. But the service is very friendly.

There is nothing wrong with this place, just seems like another place taking the easy way out and sacrificing quality for numbers. Food felt like it was already made before we got there and just made warm when we ordered. Service can get slow when crowded.

The menu offers something for everyone... the meat loaf is one of my favorites and anyone who likes to experiment should take a look at the sausage calendar: every Mobat a special specialty to match the month's beer... in June the paprika chili meat loaf was a treat and now in... August the bacon bratwurst with goat cheese and dates on bulgur salad: not a classic beer dish but absolute recommendation: delicious and finely tuned in the recipe...always worth a visit...service nice, friendly and attentive even on more stressful weekends See you soon

Located directly on the Goldener Reiter, the restaurant offers German cuisine with a Bavarian touch. Overall good, the beer from their own brewery is very good.

After our concert at RK we headed to the Watzke am Goldenen Reiter. We even found a space inside which is very rare. Then Lina or Tina came to our table and we felt really comfortable in the Watzke. The advice about drinking special beers 🍺, a little wine advice was really great and delivered/advised in your own way. The whole atmosphere, the people and especially the Lina/Tina and the food tastes very good 👍. We as a group of 4 can only recommend the Watzke and when we come back next year 😉 we'll chat more with our lively service staff.

I didn't find the outside facilities very inviting.

We visited Watzke 3 days ago and the table was reserved in advance. When we arrived, the table was not set, i.e. no cutlery, no napkins, no spices, no ketchup, mustard, etc. The drinks and food came quickly, unfortunately, after asking three times, we got the above-mentioned things alone in the dining room. When ordering “Hackepeter” there was clearly not enough bread, with 4 half slices of bread, the portion of Hackepeter cannot be eaten. After several requests, a basket of bread came, the rest of the food was tasty and good. The service was very friendly, but totally overwhelmed.

The quality of food is fine. But kind of expensive considering the quality of the taste. Location wise in good place.

As always, the first port of call when we are traveling in Dresden. A must for every tourist or like us locals. A pleasant atmosphere invites you to linger, enjoy great home-brewed beer and delicious food.

The visit was very sobering. They advertise their own bread! It was probably left over from yesterday, snack with “own” sausage, every butcher has better quality. Steak portion is hard to find on the plate, suitable as a starter or as a children's meal, a disgrace for adults for the price. More appearance than reality.

Nice restaurant. I ended up here by accident - it started to rain heavily, I had to hide. What's hide and seek without beer and sausages? The semi-dark beer is very, very soulful, the sausages are flawless. I recommend it not only during rain 😉

Brauhaus right on the golden rider, you can sit outside very nicely. Own beer is very good. Food typical for a brewery. Even vegetarians can find something there.

The beer came after 30 minutes. The food wasn't there even after 1 hour! We only ordered cold food: salad and mince pie. We left without food.

Underground service 90 minutes of waiting and the waitress replied I forgot your order. Nothing is going to happen quickly, I still have 32 other bookings. Too bad and never again. Shame on you, Watzke, but business is going well and the customer doesn't matter.
