Well, it was just amazing! What an absolute gem in the heart of Dresden! My wife and I visited Freiberger Schankhaus for dinner and were swept off our feet from the moment we walked in. The place was buzzing with life – packed to the rafters with smiling faces, laughter, and the hum of good conversation. It was clear we’d stumbled upon a local treasure. The service? Impeccable. From the friendly staff to the swift arrival of our drinks, everything ran like a well-oiled machine. The ambiance struck just the right chord, blending traditional German charm with a cosy, inviting vibe. The décor alone was worth a visit – every corner was filled with character, transporting you straight into the heart of Germany’s heritage. Now, the food… ah, the food! Every bite was an experience in itself – beautifully cooked, bursting with flavour, and perfectly priced. We savoured every mouthful and left dreaming of our next visit. Food was very, very tasty 😋. I think the prices are a bit too high, but okay. Service was very nice and accommodating. Ambiance, it's just a bar house, rustic, quite dark but perfectly adequate for beer and a feast.

Best service and fantastic taste. The schnitzel came out fresh and was really delicious. If I have the chance, I would like to try Schweinhaxen next time. Thanks to you, I am leaving with good memories in Dresden.

We ate really well here several times, the staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly. A really good tip for the Dresden Frauenkirche - and for me it's not a classic tourist hotspot, but really authentic! We'd love to come back.

Nice place, a bit unpleasant waitress, I can't judge the food in general, but the typical soup was gastritis-proof. Excellent beer, clean bathroom.

Great service, really nice. Unfortunately we were all disappointed with the food. The curds couldn't be cut (like rubber), the brawn was out of the packaging (not fresh from the butcher) and the seasoned meat wasn't like it used to be either. And that at the prices. Really a shame.

We were very ill on Sunday September 15, 2024 after a dinner of sauerkraut goulash. And above all, when we went to report it, we were turned away...inappropriately

The food there is great, the Sojanka was as good as Mom's. The quark balls were also great. Definitely worth a visit. What I found to be a bit overpriced is the bratwurst with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes for €18.

A visit is absolutely worth it. I think that pretty much says it all. The beer is delicious (large selection). The dishes are good to very good (I would have liked more yeast dumplings with my goulash, two is very little). But the other dishes were really great (spinach dumplings, beef tartare). The spinach dumplings are absolutely recommended. The service is also unique, very friendly, always with a saying on your lips and just plain cool. Definitely coming back.

We ate there after visiting the Frauenkirche. A great atmosphere, something special and very cozy. You could also have eaten outside, but you could only order online. The employees are all very, very nice. To eat we had a small potato soup (very tasty) and once pullet pork with fries (also very tasty and the meat was very tender). All in all, a good meal at a fair price. We can only recommend!! P.S. Unfortunately I forgot to taste the bock beer brandy🥺

The waiters are friendly and you can drink two Kozeldark beers. Instead, you have to wait a long time to pay, but I think it's because of the overall foreign culture. It was delicious, friendly, and I even gave a tip. It's a credit card.

Beer good. Price ok. Roast roast was pretty mixed hidden under onions. Portion size could be a little larger. The online ordering process is ok. Payment options quite limited...google pay only works with certain cards.

Centrally located on Neumarkt/Frauenkirche. Top service, fair food prices - drink prices a little above average, but this is due to the prime location. We have always been satisfied with the food: delicious, hot and fresh. Definitely not a tourist scam. We'd love to come back.

We have been coming to Dresden for a weekend for years. Our path always leads us to the Freiberger Schankhaus, we were never disappointed with either the food or the service. In addition, the beers are also a real must for the connoisseur.

We got a complete compartment at prime time, the waiters tolerated our mood music - better yet, they joined in and gave us a place to eat, which nothing can compensate for! My girlfriend and I dined at Freiberger Schankhaus. This review is split into three parts: - location - service - food Location: The location is at the central square of Dresden outsight the church. It is really cozy and has a good atmosphere. This is the case for all the restaurants around the square though. Service: The service is great once seated. Our waiter was good at English gave good recommendations. The service was overall friendly and nice. The food: The was alright. Nothing to write home about at all. In my opinion the dishes could've benefitted a lot by adding fresh vegetables like cucumber as it would've added a light and fresh touch to the rather heavy food. The bohemian dumplings were disappointing. Turns out was flavorless bread. I thought it was a type of potato dumplings. I think it fits perfectly at ⭐⭐⭐ (3) stars, perhaps 3.5 stars as it delivers what you expect, but nothing beyond that. As such, the place was decent enough, but not good enough for "very good" that is 4 stars.

The serving was terrible today!!! We have waited 1 and a half hour for the food and 20 minutes for the bill...and the restaurant was not full. I give 2 stars, because last year the conditions where better, otherwise -5

A bit unusual at first: you order directly on your cell phone using a QR code and then pay directly via Google Pay, Paypal or credit card. However, the orders all came very quickly and the food was absolutely top. The goulash with dumplings is definitely a recommendation. You also order 2 slices of very fresh crusty bread. If I'm back in Dresden, I'd love to come again.

Today's group of 13 people spent 4 hours here. I have to say - it was TOP! The guys from the bar had everything under control and we had a lot of fun. The food was delicious - and we were really happy! The only drawback - later on it became quite crowded and unfortunately also loud. The air was still and therefore points were deducted. We'll definitely be back!

As part of a night watchman tour, dinner including a small drink was included. There were 8 of us and we were completely thrilled and completely satisfied. There were 4 meals to choose from, traditional German cuisine, and it was worth it. The quality of the food was very good. Plus good beer and great and very friendly service. Optimal in combination with the leadership.

The waiters are all friendly. The restrooms are luxurious, and many local people, especially older people, come here. Even if you eat half, the portion is not small. It is light and chewy compared to Colleño. Recommended to try!

The place is aimed mainly at German tourists. Unfortunately a disappointing experience. The lack of contact with waiters was noticeable, and ordering online from some tables meant ignoring guests trying to contact us. For people who avoid interaction this may be a great option, but for us it was disappointing. The order was fulfilled within normal limits, although the dishes were not hot, but rather lukewarm. Beer is good. The service left much to be desired.

Even though the entire terrace was packed, the waiter managed everything and even joked around! It was truly an experience. Despite the restaurant being typically German, we felt welcome as foreigners. It's a pity that the female staff were nervous and rushed, which spoiled the experience we had with the waiter (the bald gentleman). I had a large Soljanka, which is really large, and next time I would order a small one.

I've been there several times now. Individual dishes are excellent - regional dishes/bourgeois cuisine. For vegetarians there is little culinary sophistication left and if you don't like these 4.5 dishes, it will be sporadic (e.g. schnitzel) In addition to Freiberger, there were Oberndorfer??? It's also at the Frauenkirche = touristy. Interior design / ambience of a rustic, modern inn. Every time the waiters were particularly friendly and had fun at work. However, in the hitting times def. not enough staff. Long waiting times until you were served, but drinks and food were received quite quickly.

We were there with our child and grandma, everyone enjoyed it and everyone was happy. What was great was that there wasn't just pasta or schnitzel for children, but also mashed potatoes with vegetables, art supplies, a high chair and very child-friendly service. Grandma ate solyanka for the first time and was thrilled. We sat at the window with a view of the square and church - wonderful! If we are in Dresden again, we will definitely eat there again.

Price-performance was not entirely convincing. Small portion for a big price. We had sauerbraten and pancakes. Meat was a little dry and pancakes consisted of a ready-made mixture.

Rustic atmosphere with super friendly service. Goulash was good and worth the price. The steak au four, on the other hand... wasn't cooked properly, the seasoned meat was super dry, the croquettes were totally weak. Demanding €25.90 for this cannot be surpassed in terms of audacity. We won't visit the restaurant again.

Average place to have some German traditional food and beer if you are right in the city center. The waiter found us a table and said that we can stay here before the next reservation. I wouldn’t say it’s cheap here, the Tatar I ordered was around 19€ and beer was like 5€. The Tatar was not the best I had, I didn’t like the texture as it is too smooth and you don’t feel meat itself. For example in Czech we have it more structured and it feels like you eat meat, not just something mushed. But maybe in Germany they have a different way of cooking this meal. Anyway beer was okay too, the thing I didn’t like is behavior of a waiter, we were speaking to him in English as we are tourists and we don’t speak German (sorry but yes it happens), and while he was clearly understanding what we are asking for, he replied in German all the time, we needed to ask again and after all we said can you say the price in English, and the waiter replied in English. I consider this as a rude tone, but okay, maybe in Germany this is fine. Hope the staff will rethink about it. Anyway, wouldn’t visit it again.

Unfortunately not for people who don't eat meat...It's a shame...the price-performance ratio here is unfortunately not right at all....3 spinach dumplings + parmesan with a mega lettuce leaf in the middle, it fits, the deceptive package is only noticed later . Price € 18.90 so € 6.30 for a mini spinach dumpling. I ordered a main course and the portion was far from that. The meat dish ordered at the same time, however, was well portioned. Despite asking for clarification twice, the very nice service staff were not authorized to respond with any concessions, and the owner or competent representative was no longer in the house. Soon I will be returning this kind of modern highwaymanship directly to the kitchen... oh yes, the dumplings are ALWAYS the same size, because they are delivered ready-made, which is about home cooking 🤔

The shop is really comfortably furnished, the service is friendly and attentive without being completely convincing. The food is at a good “home cooking” level, but unfortunately the pricing makes me lose my appetite. Very poor service. Only one waiter out of 4 rose to the challenge and improved the atmosphere. We were with children and wanted to order dinner for the whole family. Unfortunately they had tables for online ordering and we didn't know about it. When I asked how we could order, the waiter did not inform us that we could choose a standard table. During this time, the application does not work properly. It freezes. Secondly, as I have already kindly learned Although we could order normally, we were treated rudely. They didn't care. Children are hungry for any sensible approach to improve it or even a nice approach to us. Overall, after ordering and seeing the results, the food was very poor and oversalted at this price. Ragu . The cutlet may be good, but another dish whose name I don't remember is weak. In general, the chicken and the children's portion are also tasteless and expensive. The bill was over 150 euros and very poor food + service.

When I visited last year with two friends, we were directly presented with the bill 20 minutes before closing (already at 10 p.m.) and "indirectly" asked to leave. Otherwise, the food was mediocre (too little for the price, the taste was average), the focus is apparently on taking a lot of money from passing guests/tourists and speculating that they won't come back....We were on a spontaneous visit on a Sunday before 5 p.m. (closing time!) I was confronted with the bill again by the waiter with the remark, "...you'll be leaving soon..." - I've never experienced that before. Apparently there's no need for it here anymore.

The restaurant can be highly recommended, it tastes great and the prices are reasonable and not overpriced considering that it is located in the immediate vicinity of the Frauenkirche, a popular attraction in Dresden. The service is great. I just find it a little cramped as it is often full due to its location. Nevertheless, 5 stars and clear recommendation!

The price/performance ratio of the food doesn't fit at all. The solyanka was just a sour tomato puree and sausage mash without the lecho advertised on the menu or even a dollop of sour cream. The portion of seasoned meat, which was large but too expensive at just under EUR 19, came quite unseasoned with cheese sticks that were almost burnt under the salamander. Despite the moderate table occupancy, the service was quite slow and some people had to argue with themselves for minutes before requesting a drink. The many 5-star reviews are sometimes even incomprehensible in view of the photos published with them, because the food sometimes looks as unappetizing in the photos as it tastes. And the advertised “Saxon home cooking” offers so many inexpensive, good dishes.

Delicious cellar beer, were there at happy hour and half a liter cost €4.50 instead of the €5-6 price for food and drinks. Staff nice.

Heutzutage ist es für Privatleute und Gastronomie sehr schwierig beide Seiten zufrieden zu stellen. Jedoch war der heutige Besuch in dem Freiberger Schankhaus nicht sehr angenehm. Die Bewirtung war tadellos freundlich und zuvorkommend, gerade den Kinder gegenüber. Das Essen hingegen war milde gesagt, furchtbar. Die Haxen wurden in der Mikrowelle erwärmt und waren trocken. Der Krautsalat war aus der Verpackung auf den Teller mit ausgelassenem Speck darüber. Das Kartoffelpürree für die Kinder aus der Verpackung mit Frostgemüse ohne Würze. Die Hähnchenflügel für die Kinder ausgetrocknet und von gestern. Auf den Spinatknödeln wurde als Deko gefrorenes Suppengemüse gelegt. Man könnte über alles hinwegsehen, wenn die Preis / Leistung stimmen würde. Aber für 18,50€ für 3 Knödel oder 7,50€ je Kinderessen ist es einfach zu überteuert.

I didn't eat anything, but enjoyed the atmosphere and the drinks. The furnishings fascinated me...stylish, rustic.

We were pleasantly surprised. The ubiquitous breweries are not very different in selection and quality. But the Freiberg tap house stands out. The dishes are almost identical to those in the other breweries, but the taste here is clearly above average. We had the impression that people really “cooked from scratch” here, from scratch. Not always the same mass taste.

Trotz riesiger Auswahl an lokalen Gaststätten haben wir uns für das Freiberger entschieden. Die Onlinebuchung für den Ostersamstag war optimal und einfach. Der Empfang für uns 8 Gäste war witzig, jedoch nicht aufdringlich. Die regionale Küche ist immer ein Erlebnis und das sächsische Bier ebenso. Etwas überrascht waren wir von den Preiserhöhungen, die jedoch in ganz Dresden Einzug gehalten haben. Die Qualität und Portionsgrößen der verschiedenen Speisen waren sehr gut. Auch unsere bayerischen Gäste fanden dies klasse. Insgesamt ein gelungener Abend und besten Dank an den echt coolen Kellner.

We had booked dinner as part of a night watchman tour of Dresden and didn't have too many expectations: it was even nicer that we were proven wrong. The reception in the restaurant after the tour was extremely friendly, the food was very tasty and the restaurant was also rustic and very pleasant. We can only recommend it - the food, dessert and beer are worth a visit!

A seasoned chicken (!!) for €18.90 or a "bread basket with lard" for €8.90 is - even taking the situation into account - simply outrageous and NOTHING can be justified. Otherwise the menu is now very clear, even the beer prices are borderline. A pity. Other shops in the area can obviously calculate better. The staff, however, deserve full marks - as always, very pleasant and friendly!

It's a quite busy place and recommend making reservations. This is a good sign for any pub or restaurant. Very central and good location. It was busy but the service was still professional and friendly. Not much choice on the menu but what they have is great. Good places do not need menus with huge options.

Gemütlicher Laden, trotz seiner Größe, direkt am Dresdner Neumarkt. Die halbe Haxe nicht gerade preiswert, aber so was von kross und lecker! Dazu eine große Portion Krautsalat und frisches Bauernbrot. Dazu eine tolle Auswahl an Fassbieren, hier stimmt der Preis besonders. Mittwochs ist Fassbiertag, da kostet die Halbe derzeit 3,99. Unschlagbar.
