A truly classic beer-drinking spot with delicious brewery fare at very reasonable prices. We had smoked meatloaf and a veal bockwurst, both amazing with delicious mashed potatoes. We also enjoyed the four-pack tasting set, especially the beer of the month. A very cool, attentive waiter who's always got a good joke on his lips. We'd be happy to come back.

We had 3 beers, a pils, a halles and the one of the month and they were great! We algo had a bratwurst with mashed potatoes and a dish with soup, potatoes and Meat that was good! Highly recomended

It was a great experience to be here. 1. The beer is home-brewed and delicious. And they offer a special beer of the month. 2. They offer homemade sausage of the month. The food is truly impressive; much of it is homemade and of really good quality. The menu has a strong Bavarian influence, but that's not a bad thing in my opinion ;). The only minor criticism is that there are very few vegetarian options. The ambiance is also beautifully decorated, a bit rustic, but not overly opulent. It's a restaurant where you'll enjoy eating. The food is delicious and the prices are completely reasonable; the menu changes regularly, with special sausages of the month being available. It's also possible to simply linger at the bar. Very friendly staff, always ready with a joke. Delicious food, short wait, simply excellent. Whenever we're in Dresden, we reserve a table. Once a Watzke, always a Watzke.

We made a reservation by phone and explained our requirements, namely that we were coming with a child and a disabled family member. That was a bit tricky and could certainly be improved. But when I arrived and brought up our seating issue again, all the staff were immediately ready to find a solution. That was truly impressive. We were offered various options on demand, as there were so many reservations. Fortunately, that's what happened, and they proactively helped us move to a suitable table. I also wandered around the restaurant during the evening and noticed the very high level of professionalism among the staff, even with guests I found annoying. And because the service was excellent and the food and drinks were delicious, it definitely gets 5 out of 5 stars. Thank you for the lovely evening. I'd love to come back.

Unfortunately, this was our last visit to this restaurant. At first, everything went very well: We ordered drinks, hot dishes, and salads, everything was brought quickly, and the young waitress was polite and professional. Later, however, a different waiter served us. When we asked for an additional empty plate, he explained that it would cost an extra 2 euros. At first, we thought it was a joke, but even the restaurant manager confirmed: One empty plate = 2 euros. Something like this has never happened to us before. We find it incomprehensible that a restaurant would charge a fee for a simple empty plate. It's a shame—because apart from that, the service was actually good. Perhaps it would only be logical to also charge 50 cents for toilet paper in the future.

Very tasty beer. Not just the Altpieschen special, but also the beer of the month (always good for a nice surprise). It simply tastes good here. It's even been tested at Wacken Open (a drinking competition for old folks - drinking for a good cause) with an enormously positive response against beers from all over Germany. But what also adds to the charm is the changing beer of the month. In August 2025, it was a light wheat beer, which is really very drinkable. Accompanied by a hearty baked potato with ham - absolutely delicious! Also not to be underestimated is the quick wit of the staff, who respond to little jokes with a lightness that's simply a joy. Regulars know what I mean.

The potato and cucumber salad had seen better days. The selection of non-pork dishes was limited. I would have expected larger portions at the brewery. The waitress was humorous, attentive, and very pleasant, but they had their hands full, so we had to accept a longer wait.

We had two burgers and two beers that were good, nothing to complain about, but when we got the bill, a tip was added to the bill. I know it's not mandatory in Germany, but it's recommended, which means the customer decides if and how much they want to leave. This is the second time this has happened in a German restaurant, and I think it's not appropriate behavior.

We spontaneously ended up at this restaurant. Overpriced food, served in small portions. The ragout with root vegetables and dumplings is a simple goulash with three dry dumpling slices. When I asked where the root vegetables and onions were, I was told there were two small pieces of carrot in the goulash and that the onions were overcooked. Aha, all right. My comment that the food was cold was ignored at all. My wife had a chicken breast. The bone in the breast was larger than the breast piece. And when we pointed out that it was still bloody inside, we weren't given a new piece, but rather the comment that the chefs were new and still learning. We won't allow anyone to experiment on us anymore, and certainly not at that price.

We went for dinner on Saturday. The staff was friendly and quick. The food was very mediocre. The risotto was made with pearl barley and looked gray, and the poultry was very dry.

The Watzke isn't what it used to be. The food and beer were delicious, as always. But the waitress, a foreign citizen, was "highly motivated." I think he was offended at having to work in the land of milk and honey, Germany. The waitresses used to be very friendly and accommodating. We would like that service again. It was our wedding anniversary and we wanted to have a great day, but the waitress ruined it with her negative attitude.

The restaurant was quite busy, and even without a reservation, we were lucky to find a comfortable table, which we shared with a small group. I'm a regular and have always been very satisfied with the service, food, etc. But yesterday we (with our adult children) were very disappointed... Around 2:00 PM, we wanted to sit in the back area on the right side, but all the tables there were free (we always enjoy sitting there). We were immediately seated in the front area... When I went to the empty tables anyway... the waitress immediately called me back forcefully. After asking why... I was told that the front seats had to be filled first. I thought I was in the wrong movie. I've never experienced anything like that in a restaurant before... I would have loved to leave. Well, the waitress was definitely not having her best day... instead of lard with the beer, there was butter. And when I ordered my second Alt Pieschner, she brought me a Pilsner... then she tried to argue with me. But maybe she remembered, put the right beer on my table, and apologized... okay, all accepted. I just hope the next visit will be more relaxed...

The service was quick, reliable and always had a good word to say. The ambience is good and the beer garden is a good alternative to sitting outside in warm times. The food (I had crispy knuckle) was very good, rich and really crispy. There is a 1 point deduction for the rather small portion of the Rostbrätl (here you should reconsider the relationship to the price). The half duck from the tube was also very good. The beer is something different. Either you like it or you don't, everyone has to decide for themselves. All in all, a very good and recommendable restaurant visit in the city center of Dresden.

It was quite busy on Good Friday. Luckily we had reservations. We liked the humorous service. The food tasted very good. We had beef roulades and goulash. There are certainly nicer breweries, but the most important thing, namely the food and the beer, were good.

But what doesn't work: the waiter came to the table again, asked if everything was okay - when I complained, he simply said "Write a Google review" In my opinion, this is not an appropriate reaction as a service person! So here is the desired rating... PS: his Slovakian "expert tip" about football wasn't right either! ;)

Delicious food, but not very decorative and some dishes very sparse, good selection of beer. For larger groups, you have to expect a significantly longer waiting time. Ideally, you should check your order again so that everyone involved gets something and the right food. If you want to order the beer of the month, you should do so at the beginning of the month.

We have been guests at Watzke am Ring for many years. Unfortunately, due to the frequent personnel carousel, the “family” atmosphere has fallen by the wayside. Mr. Pitsaris stands out negatively. We as guests feel that he radiates restlessness with his hectic pace. We also don't think it's right to reprimand colleagues in front of guests. On March 6th, 2025 we experienced the following situation: We wanted to order something else. Mr. Pitsaris walked past our table and ignored the hand signal. On his way back we apologized to him. Then he said: I'll come right away. He took orders from several tables, just not from us. Apparently it took the signal of our departure for Mr. Pitsaris to finally notice us after ignoring us for several minutes. We're not used to this kind of disinterest at Watzke.

It's bad that the employees who still stick to their guns are being exploited by opening even more tables outside, even though there are no staff available. Since we have been regular guests for many years, we can already assess one thing or another. Maybe the employer should not only see the profit, but also the manpower behind it and the resulting loss of service. Too bad...

The service is otherwise very nice and pleasantly relaxed, just as the guest would like. If there are people, like in the last reviews, who think they are something better and Count Koks personally, they should be ignored, especially since they will probably only go there once and never again...

Today, I had some truly awful, burnt ribs. They didn’t provide any barbecue sauce, so I asked for some, only to be handed mayonnaise with the explanation, “It’s white barbecue sauce, just eat it.” The staff was extremely rude from start to finish. I would not recommend anyone go there.

On my first visit, they gave me two of what I ordered and then I ordered one, and they got angry and said you ordered two... This time, I thought they wouldn't do that, so I went and got ribs without sauce. It clearly says barbecue sauce on the menu, but I asked if they gave me sauce, so I looked at the dipping sauce. It's called white barbecue sauce haha. Looking at the picture of someone else eating it, there was a lot of sauce..^^~

Traditional restaurant, very cozy and comfortably furnished. The prices are very reasonable. We liked our food very much and it was plentiful, and the way it was presented on the plate looked very good. The reservation using the phone number on the homepage was a failure, no one on site knew anything and even showing the number only elicited the remark from the young lady that it wasn't her phone number. We were already annoyed and told her that we couldn't help it if the company presented itself like that. We still got a table, which is a credit to them - even though I noticed the annoyed expression and heard the rambling "choleric" very well. Not like that, miss! The food and beer made up for it, which was absolutely great. For the annoyance and the fact that we were constantly called by the slightly confused waiter, we deducted one star. That's more than fair.

Food was good but someone pissed under the sink

Personal immer super drauf, sehr entspannt und aufmerksam. Auf ein Bier muss man nicht lange warten. Essen geschmacklich tadellos, gute Brauhausküche, Portionen sind aber gefühlt mit den Jahren kleiner geworden. Sei's drum, wir sind satt geworden und kommen wieder. Man kann hier auch mal nur auf ein Bierchen einkehren und wird nicht schief angeguckt, wenn man kein Essen bestellt. Das ist selten so.

When Mr. Unger was still in charge, one phone call would have been enough and it would have been the gentleman in question's last day at work, staff shortage or not, but he would not have tolerated such disrespectful behavior towards a guest.

German restaurant serving a wide variety of dishes for very reasonable prices. We enjoyed restaurant so much we went back a second time! You can eat outside under cover or inside if colder. Menu is also in English and the staff were willing to help. Apart from the excellent food, the restaurant has excellent beer. The venue is about 5 minutes walk from tram stop and the shopping centre.
