We went to ZWICKL – Gastlichkeit am Viktualienmarkt (Zwickl Hospitality at the Viktualienmarkt) in the evening and had a mixed experience overall.
The atmosphere is lively and suits its location at the Viktualienmarkt. It was busy and bustling, which generally has its charm. However, on this particular evening, the service seemed a bit rushed and not always entirely efficient, which is understandable given the large number of guests.
The beers were poured with a lot of foam, which somewhat detracted from the enjoyment. It wasn't a major issue, but it wasn't ideal either. The Kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancake) wasn't what we expected: not airy, but still quite soft inside, and therefore not very flavorful.
Since it was already late in the evening, we decided against complaining. Overall, we were left with the impression that the evening was okay, but fell short of our expectations.
In short, it's a place with a pleasant atmosphere and a good location, but on this particular evening, it didn't quite live up to its potential, either in terms of food or service.
Overall, my experience as a tourist was quite pleasant. Initially, an incorrect dish was served, but the server who took our order promptly recognized the error and rectified it. The food portions were moderate and met expectations. The cocktails were good (pina cola - hard to mess up! & New York sour - totally recommend!)
A really great inn.
The Heidi theme was well done here.
Excellent home-style cooking.
A good place to go for groups.
Service is good but could be improved. We'd gladly come again.
The campsite is easy to reach, and there are more spaces than you might expect. However, you should arrive early, as reservations aren't possible. The food in the restaurant was delicious, and the service was excellent. The small washroom facilities are also good. The price for the overnight stay (in our case, €23.50 including electricity) is absolutely reasonable.
You receive a warm welcome as soon as you walk in – the hosts are attentive and friendly, even when it's busy!
The food is perfect! My mother is always transported back to her childhood by the dishes, and we are thrilled. The atmosphere is incredibly cozy, and we always leave happy and satisfied. Highly recommended!
A truly lovely little café gem in Bad Vilbel!
The location is fantastic – modern, bright, decorated with great attention to detail, and simply a wonderfully pleasant atmosphere where you can immediately relax. In summer, the terrace is very inviting, and in winter, you feel right at home inside.
The coffee is top-notch: whether flat white, cappuccino, or filter coffee – everything tastes exceptional; you can tell they brew really good coffee here.
And the selection of cakes… truly impressive! Very varied, visually stunning, and almost everything is homemade or from excellent producers. The cakes and pastries taste as good as they look – there's very little to disappoint here.
The only slight drawback: the prices are considerably higher than what you'd normally pay in the area. Two coffees and two slices of cake quickly add up to €20–25, which is quite steep. Therefore, for me, Wewe is more of a special treat every 4-6 weeks (if that), and not my weekly café regular.
But if you're consciously looking for something truly lovely, delicious, and with a feel-good atmosphere – highly recommended!
We had our Christmas party at the Hofbräuhaus. The food was delicious, and despite the large crowd, there were no waiting times. I only have one complaint, and it's a real disgrace for a Hofbräuhaus. Filling the beer glasses only to 2 cm below the fill line is unacceptable. I complained about the first one, had it refilled, but didn't mind the second. My colleagues had similar experiences. Someone should definitely bring this to the attention of the bartender.
