I have never commented on going to a restaurant. However, even now, after a night of "sleeping on it", I am still in awe of the "unforgettable evening" at La Bussola.
It was supposed to be a nice meal with my partner. We experienced total chaos in the service (5x "ehhh did you order that..?"), one meal was finally one that WE ordered. I then asked for the name of the manager and asked for the bill. After 15 minutes the “managing director” came in, completely unmotivated, completely overwhelmed and seemed like a little boy. No real apology..nothing..nothing at all. After another 10 minutes, I was finally allowed to pay the full bill (they didn't charge for the food I didn't eat 🙏).
A really great evening. Many thanks to the team la bussola.. without words.. Or at least
Review – L’Osteria Cologne Deutz (Lunch)
I went to L’Osteria in Cologne Deutz with a colleague for lunch. The atmosphere is, as usual, modern and lively, but the large space can get quite noisy – not ideal for a quiet lunch.
The food was okay: The pizza was, as always, very large, the crust thin and crispy, although the toppings could have been a bit more generous and fresher. The pasta was solid in taste, but not outstanding. Prices were within the usual range – okay for lunch, but not exactly a bargain.
The service was friendly, but a bit slow at times, even though the restaurant wasn't full.
In conclusion: You can go for a quick, average lunch with Italian flair – but don't have high expectations.
We decided to stop by Mortor World on a whim and had a cappuccino and American cheesecake. It was delicious, and the staff was super friendly. We'd love to come back!
Had a great day, 9 of us were there for lunch. The food was pretty good...schnitzel and rösti from the deep fryer...fried onions on the sky and sooo sloppy...but the service was very good...I'd be happy to come back, but not for the meal 😉
Six guests weren't allowed because there are only tables for four, and two chairs from a neighboring table aren't allowed. We should have separated or left. Well, if that's what this unfriendly waiter thinks, we'll just go to a competitor.
Pub and bar hopping around the wonderful Huemarkt we decided to drop into Starnberger Alm and what a great find.
Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here, interior is superb, pine wood features abound throughout the tavern, wonderful decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout this tavern both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling Huemarkt that when we visited in late December was packed with the famous Huemarkt Christmas Market in full swing.
We sat outside were we ordered their own brewed helles beer ,these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and we just kicked back and took in the great tavern we were in .
My beer was really good, a golden, light and hoppy lager style beer bursting with taste and very easy to drink especially when served freezing cold as in this tavern, it was just so good being in such a lovely tavern enjoying a quality brew and sat with my twin brother, best beer companion in the world.
We really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to Starnberger Alm we had a great time.
Starnberger Alm is easy to locate on Huemarkt, in my opinion one of the most beautiful square's in Cologne.
Opening hours are;
Monday to Sunday, open from midday.
Well worth checking out if you're in the Old Town of Cologne.
